Last night was probably one of the most unforgettable nights of her life. After competing against eighty-six contestants from countries around the world, Maria Gabriela Isler was declared Miss Universe 2013. The Venezuelan fashion model was crowned in a lavish glittering ceremony that took place at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
The televised pageant aired at 9:00pm ET, and was telecast on NBC and Telemundo for the United States. Millions of viewers tuned in to witness the prestigious moment. According to Fox News, Isler inched passed finalist from Spain, Brazil, Ecuador, and the Philippines to win the 61-year-old pageant. Aerosmith rock legend, Steven Tyler led the panel of judges. MSNBC Live news anchor Thomas Roberts, and former Spice Girl, Melanie B were also presenters for the prestigious event.

The Valencia native works as a television anchor and announcer for Venevision. The television station is owned and operated by the Cisneros Business Group, which also has exclusive rights to the annual Miss Venezuela pageant. Her victory is the seventh Miss Universe title for Venezuela. In fact, Venezuela has garnered more wins in major international beauty competitions that any other nation.

Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, also took a moment to congratulate the new queen just minutes after her crowning. Maduro sent congratulatory wishes via Twitter, declaring her performance and victory as a ‘triumph for Venezuela.’

Marco Sandoval, another governmental dignitary of Maduro’s government also shared his sentiments of pride for yet another Venezuelan win. “There’s no doubt we have the most beautiful women of the world,” said Sandoval.
