  • Cote de Pablo: No Current Plans to Bring Her Back for Michael Weatherly’s NCIS Exit

NCIS fans learned some sad news last week – Michael Weatherly, one of the show’s most beloved actors, is leaving the show.

Of course, fans are now left to speculate how his character, Tony DiNozzo, will be written out.

Will his departure involve longtime partner Ziva, played by Cote de Pablo?

It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but according to CBS President Glenn Geller it’s not currently in the works.

“They are working on how Michael’s character is going to be written out,” Geller told reporters at Winter TCAs. “Gary [Glasberg] and the producers are working on that right now.”

He went on the say there are “not currently” any plans to bring back Cote de Pablo for Weatherly’s exit.

Weatherly will leave NCIS after its 13th season.

“DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons,” Weatherly wrote on Twitter. “Les Moonves & CBS gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. I will miss the amazing crew & cast, who are like family to me, & to the fans all over the world – THANK YOU, it’s been a fantastic ride!”

“After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” CBS said in a January 5th statement. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today — the No. 1 drama in the world. “We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

  • Michael Weatherly–Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo–Leaving “NCIS”

Michael Weatherly confirmed on Tuesday a rumor fans hoped against hope wasn’t true. The actor known for his role as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on CBS’s NCIS is leaving the show.

CBS issued a statement about Michael Weatherly’s impending departure.

“After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” the statement reads. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today–the No. 1 drama in the world.”

“We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise,” the statement continues, “and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”

Michael Weatherly responded to reports about his upcoming depature via Twitter.

It was Michael Weatherly’s costar, David McCallum (Ducky), who allegedly let the cat out of its proverbial bag about the actor’s end-of-season departure. During an interview with Vulture Hound magazine, he let word slip.

“DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, we’ve told people a long time ago, is leaving at the end of the season. So the writers have to decide what to do when one of the four members of the original cast leaves,” he said.

In addition to Michael Weatherly and David McCallum, NCIS stars Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and Sean Murray.

Weatherly’s departure will mark the second blow to fans’ hearts in two years. When Cote de Pablo, who played the role of Ziva David, left the show in 2013, viewers’ hearts ached for Tony DiNozzo.

Can NCIS continue without Special Agent Tony DiNozzo?

Are you shocked that Michael Weatherly is kissing this fabulous role goodbye?

  • Cote de Pablo: ‘NCIS’s’ Ziva David Makes TV Return in ‘The Dovekeepers’

Cote de Pablo–best known for her role as Ziva David on NCIS, played alongside Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly–is making her TV return on Tuesday and Wednesday this week in a CBS four-hour miniseries called The Dovekeepers.

The project is based on an Alice Hoffman novel, and in addition to Cote de Pablo, stars Rachel Brosnahan, Sam Neill, and Kathryn Prescott. The story focuses on the women at the center of a group of Jewish refugees who make a brave stand against the Romans from the ancient mountaintop fortress of Masada.

The Dovekeepers is produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, who produced The Bible in 2013.

Cote de Pablo visited Masada prior to playing this role.

“I had a chance to go to Masada a couple of years ago when I was first doing NCIS. You are on top of a mountain (where) on one end you’ve got the desert and on the other, the Dead Sea. It’s a remarkable story of survival, never giving up hope or faith and holding up to what you believe are important values, principles and dignity,” she explained.

Rachel Brosnahan, Kathryn Prescott, and Cote de Pablo play the roles of Yael, Aziza, and Shirah, respectively, and they are the women known as the dovekeepers.

“What these women do is ahead of its time, even for today. They live so connected to their hearts that they can’t possibly betray the thing they feel. … You have these women who have gone through the mill, who have given up everything they love to tell their story. (If) the Romans write it, they will inevitably be the heroes of their story. (Shirah) needs to tell this story of what really happened, the story of her people,” de Pablo says.

Call it coincidence or call it good planning on behalf of CBS, but just prior to The Dovekeepers premiere on Tuesday is the weekly airing of NCIS. And something fans are undoubtedly wondering is whether or not Cote de Pablo will ever reprise her role as Ziva David.

“I think it could absolutely be explored,” de Pablo says. “I felt (character Ziva’s departure) was a little rushed but, given how it all played out, I think it was beautiful. I had three beautiful scenes with Michael (Weatherly), who I love dearly. Any time I get the chance to be with him, there’s something kind of magical that happens. It’s been such a love story in many ways.”

And then she talked about the doves.

“We had very little time to prepare. It was sort of like, ‘OK, you have two hours to handle birds. And then in two hours, you’ll be in front of the camera with the birds.’ We had to learn really quickly. If you’re holding the birds with anxiety, they will be anxious. We would approach the birds in a more loving manner, like we’d been doing it forever. They just immediately let go and weren’t so fussy. They’re incredibly intuitive beings,” she said.

Fans of NCIS’s Ziva David can tune in to see Cote de Pablo in The Dovekeepers both Tuesday and Wednesday nights, March 31st and April 1st, on CBS at 9:00 PM ET.

Do you think Michael Weatherly, Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and Sean Murray will watch?

  • Cote de Pablo Back on CBS, Jewish Again, But In a Very Different Role

Cote De Pablo is best known for her role as Ziva David, an Israeli Mossad officer turned NCIS agent, on the CBS hit series NCIS (the first one). But De Pablo left the show at the beginning of season 11.

Since leaving NCIS, Cote De Pablo has landed two roles. One is in a feature film called The 33, which is about the Chilean mining incident in 2010. She plays the wife of one of the miners. De Pablo was born in Santiago, Chile where she lived until she was 10. Her birth name is María José de Pablo Fernández.

But she is also working with Roma Downey’s production company on the upcoming faith-based mini-series The Dovekeepers. The mini-series is based on the novel by Alice Hoffman. It is about four women who lived during the roman siege of the Jewish Masada stronghold in the first century.

The mini–series follows the success of Downey’s The Bible ten-part series on History.

Downey recently told reporters recently at the Television Critics’ Association, “I think that we’re seeing the desire for [faith-based programs] is back. I think [The Bible‘s success] shows that people are interested in these themes and they are hungry for product that inspires.”

“I think [the mini-series] stays very true to the essence of the book,” Downey said. “There are many characters in the book and we have four hours…. We expand in some places and condense in others. I think that fans of this book will love it. They will see some differences, but I think everyone will be happy.”

Cote de Pablo joined Downey and her co-star, House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan, in a promo clip for The Dovekeepers as they were shooting it.

The mini-series airs March 31 and April 1 on CBS. It stars Cote de Pablo from NCIS, Rachel Brosnahan from House of Cards, Kathryn Prescott from Finding Carter, and Diego Boneta from Pretty Little Liars.

  • Cote De Pablo Returning To CBS For ‘The Dovekeepers’

Cote De Pablo Returning To CBS For ‘The Dovekeepers’

During the Television Critics Association’s winter tour, Cote de Pablo appeared on a panel for the upcoming miniseries The Dovekeepers. The former NCIS star talked about her new project as well as the potential return of her beloved NCIS character, ex-Mossad operative Ziva David. The actress revealed that she is open for a return visit under the right circumstances, citing the fact that the NCIS showrunners never killed off her character in the first place. Cote also said that she felt her departure was a little rushed.

However, De Pablo added that she was pleased that her last scene was with Michael Weatherly who plays her love interest, Tony DiNozzo.

De Pablo said, “I think, all in all, I could not be more blessed, because I got to be with my love, Michael. And, any time you have scenes with Michael and I together, there’s going to be a spark and there’s going to be real honesty. For that, I am forever grateful because there was a sense of conclusion as far as what they felt for each other.”

Roma Downey, producer for The Dovekeepers, said that they wanted to air the miniseries after NCIS’ timeslot to capitalize on de Pablo’s fanbase. “We were thrilled to get Cote,” she said. “It’s no accident that our [premiere] date is a Tuesday night and we will come on after NCIS.” Downey hopes that de Pablo’s supporters will drum up support for the show, which is based on the bestselling novel by Alice Hoffman.

The miniseries as well as the source material is a period piece detailing the siege of Masada by Roman Empire troops as seen from the point of view of four women. De Pablo will be playing Shirah, a single mother accused of practicing witchcraft.

Aside from The Dovekeepers, de Pablo will also be seen on the big screen in the upcoming film The 33. The film, which is about a Chilean mining disaster, also stars Antonio Banderas and Juliette Binoche.

  • Cote de Pablo: ‘NCIS’s’ Ziva David Headed Back to CBS

Cote de Pablo, best known for her role as Ziva David on the CBS hit show NCIS, is returning to the network this spring. No, she won’t be back at NCIS, reprising her role as Michael Weatherly’s (Tony DiNozzo) love interest. She is set to appear in a two-part miniseries called The Dovekeepers instead.

The Dovekeepers is based on the book of the same name by famed author Alice Hoffman. Husband and wife producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett cast Cote de Pablo, along with Rachel Brosnahan, Kathryn Prescott, Diego Boneta, and Sam Neill.

Downey said after the huge success of her Bible miniseries on The History Channel (it drew in over 100 million views), she knew viewers would be “hungry” for Dovekeepers. She also admitted she decided to produce because she isa huge fan of the novel.

“At its heart, Dovekeepers is a love story…there is tragedy, of course, but at its heartbeat, there is beauty and hope,” Downey said on the TCA panel.

The dark story of Masada, which was filmed in Malta, is “profoundly moving,” she said.

If it’s any consolation to NCIS fans, and it likely won’t be, The Dovekeepers will air in the spot following NCIS on March 31st. The second part of the miniseries airs on April 1st. Cote de Pablo was surprised to hear this little tidbit of news.

“Really?” she exclaimed after Roma Downey told the Television Critics Association about the March 31 scheduling.

It seems the hope is that Cote de Pablo’s NCIS followers will be “very noisy” in drawing attention to the movie, according to Roma Downey. The project dramatizes the siege of the ancient desert fortress of Masada–now part of Israel–by Roman Empire troops.

Even though this isn’t a reprisal of her role as Ziva David, will you tune in to see Cote de Pablo in The Dovekeepers?

  • Jeri Ryan Heads to ‘NCIS’ As Gibbs’ Ex-Wife

Jeri Ryan Heads to ‘NCIS’ As Gibbs’ Ex-Wife

Jeri Ryan of Body of Proof, Leverage, Boston Public, and Star Trek fame is headed for NCIS where she will play the “missing” second ex-wife of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon). She will be introduced to the hit CBS show in January of 2015.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg revealed the heightening storyline several months back.

“I can promise you that it is probably going to get touched on in Season 12,” he said, adding that the introduction of the character is akin to “storyline gold.”

“After 12 seasons there was still one ex-wife to cast opposite Gibbs and we found her in the beautiful and talented Jeri Ryan,” Glasberg added. “We’re all very excited to have Jeri join us for a storyline that’s chock full of surprises.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that Jeri Ryan’s character’s name is Rebecca. Gibbs has been married four times–with three marriages ending in divorce and one in the death of his wife and child. Only two of the wives have ever appeared on NCIS.

While it will certainly be exciting to see a new character added to NCIS, it will be even more intriguing to see not only how she plays opposite Jethro Gibbs as well as his team.

NCIS airs on Tuesday evenings at 8 P.M. on CBS, but fans will have a while to wait before they get to meet Jeri Ryan in her new role.

Do you think once Gibbs’ second ex-wife is no longer missing that a romance might be rekindled between the two? Fans have long wanted to see the handsome NCIS director fall in love. A good romance for Gibbs even might rival that of Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo (as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David). Theirs was a romance that delighted fans in a previous season of the show.

  • Cote de Pablo Stars in First Post-NCIS Role

Cote de Pablo broke the hearts of countless NCIS fans when she left the show this past fall. Featured in the short clip above talking about her future with NCIS–on her very first day of the show, in fact–she anticipated learning a lot during her time there. Now the beloved actress has moved on to the film world. She is sure to leave her mark in this film about Chilean miners.

The 33 is the story of the 2010 rescue of 33 trapped Chilean miners who spent 69 days underground in the Copiapo gold and copper mine. Cote de Pablo will play the wife of one of the trapped miners. The film will also star Antonio Banderas, Jennifer Lopez, Juliette Binoche and Rodrigo Santoro. It is presently in production in both Colombia and Chile. Cote is from Chile and her mother still resides there. The film no doubt tugs at her heartstrings which will, of course, serve to enhance her role even further.

This film clip shows the actual rescue of the first of the Chilean miners following more than three months in captivity underneath the earth.

Cote de Pablo played the role of NCIS’s Special Agent Ziva David. The last few episodes left fans on the edges of their seats, waiting to see if she would become romantically involved with Michael Weatherly’s NCIS character, Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo. Her last appearance on NCIS was a bit disappointing, but fans are clinging to a very slight shred of hope that she might one day return to the show.

It will definitely be fun to watch Cote on the big screen with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Antonio Banderas. Will she become a famous movie star and leave behind even the most remote thoughts of ever returning to NCIS? Or might this simply be a case of Cote de Pablo trying her hand at something brand new–a feat everyone should lay claim to at many points during their lives?

Tuesday’s episode was the first of two in which viewers will bid the tough-talking former Mossad officer farewell. To the disappointment of many fans, while Ziva was a significant part of the story line Tuesday night, she didn’t actually make an appearance in the episode.
