  • Britney Spears is Dedicated Mom, Learning Algebra to Help Son With Homework

Britney Spears is nothing if not a completely dedicated mom to sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. In fact, she’s learning algebra so she can help her boys do their homework. Now that’s a sure sign of dedication. Most people who struggled with algebra the first time around would hire a tutor to help their kids–and Britney Spears can no doubt afford to do just that–yet she plans to alongside her kids on their homework like any other mom.

“They go to a really hard school, and this week we had three hours of homework [a night],” Spears said in a recent interview with People magazine of 9-year-old Sean Preston and 8-year-old Jayden James’ crazy homework schedule.

“Some of it is hard for me,” she added. “Next year when [Preston’s] in fifth grade, he’s going to be doing pre-algebra, and I’m taking classes so I know how to do it!”

In addition to being a strict mom with regard to her son’s homework, Britney Spears doesn’t believe in spoiling her boys either. She seriously limits that number of toys and amount of cash they are given.

“If they get so many A’s, they get one toy a month,” Spears said of her incentive system.

The boys also have household chores they perform regularly–things like washing their own dirty dishes, taking out trash and helping with the family’s dogs.

“Preston just asked for a high allowance like $10 a week or $20 a week–but we’ll see,” she shared.

Britney Spears even hinted that despite being enamored with her two sons, she might like to have another child–specifically a little girl–some day. Do you suppose she and boyfriend Charlie Ebersol are thinking along those lines?

Spears referred her prospective baby girl as a ‘mini-me,’ and said it’s not out of the question.

“That would be fun,” she said, smiling.

It’s truly wonderful to see the strides Britney Spears has made–from the days when she lost custody of her boys to ex-husband Kevin Federline–to the mom who takes algebra lessons to help her sons with their homework. Her residency in Las Vegas has been a blessing to all, as they can live a stable life while Britney still rakes in the dough–and lots of it, too–at her shows. She recently launched her own lingerie line–The Real Britney Spears–and will no doubt make big bucks from that, too.

Can you see Britney Spears adding to her family? If she and Charlie Ebersol decide to tie the knot, they’d make awfully cute babies.

Britney’s dad still has a conservatorship over her wealth, so it will be interesting to see if that presents issues should she and Ebersol settle down.

  • Amanda Bynes: Is Her Mental State Improving?

Amanda Bynes is living on her own for the first time in quite a while, which is a strong indication that her mental state is improving. The conservatorship over the All That and The Amanda Show star was extended by a judge in Ventura County last week, which means her parents are still in charge of both her money and her medical care, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some clear signs of improvement.

Another plus for Amanda Bynes is the dropping of a DUI case from last September. She faced charges for violating parole with this charge. The dismissal means there is one less hurdle in her way to recovery.

“Amanda is doing well,” her lawyer, David Esquibias told People magazine.

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago,” another source tells People. “She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.

In addition to Amanda Bynes, her parents must be thrilled about the improvements she is making. They took the brunt of her abuse, being called out by the actress on Twitter for ruining her life. She even accused her father of sexual abuse, and threatened to kill him.

Mental illness is no laughing matter, and sadly, many have laughed in the face of what Amanda Bynes has experienced. Hopefully she will continue her upward climb–doing well living on her own, and getting along with her parents.

Do you expect Amanda Bynes will ever return to acting or has she done too much damage to ever go the Hollywood route again?

  • Amanda Bynes Lives Alone, Conservatorship Intact

Amanda Bynes is doing well following her lashing out at her parents via Twitter, and recent erratic behavior. She is living on her own. However in court on Tuesday, a Ventura County, California judge extended the conservatorship over the actress until a hearing on June 23rd. This means her parents are still in control of both her finances and her medical care.

On an even more positive note, the DUI case from September 2014–for which Amanda Bynes was facing charges for violating her probation–has been dismissed.

“Amanda is doing well,” her lawyer, David Esquibias told People magazine.

Released from a psychiatric facility back in October, Amanda Bynes was first arrested in 2012 for DUI. She was placed on three years’ probation in 2014 for that incident.

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago,” a source tells People. “She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

Amanda Bynes’ claim to fame first came on the Nickelodeon network, where she starred in shows like All That and The Amanda Show. She also appeared in films including Hairspray and She’s the Man.

Although Amanda Bynes has certainly exhibited some bizarre behavior in recent years, certainly most are thrilled to hear that she is doing so well. Mental illness is a serious disease, and often requires both medicine and therapy in order for patients to live happy, fulfilling lives.

Hopefully Amanda Bynes can attain both.

  • Amanda Bynes Twitter Message Shows Off Purple Hair

Amanda Bynes sent a Twitter message to her fans on Friday, showing off her newly dyed purple hair. The former Nickelodeon star–known for roles in All That and The Amanda Show–is out of the psychiatric facility where she underwent a recent evaluation and treatment. Her behavior since being released, however, makes one question whether she should be left on her own.

Bynes had her hair colored purple at the Nine Zero One Salon in L.A., and seemed happy with the result. When she left the salon she donned green sunglasses and tried hiding her mouth behind a pack of cigarettes.

She tweeted a photo of her new hair color before she left, however.

Amanda Bynes’ Twitter account has seen a plethora of unusual messages sent by the former actress. In this past month alone she has tweeted about having bipolar disorder and she accused her father of having sexually abused her. Just days ago she tweeted about having no money and being homeless.

Amanda Bynes is clearly in need of more help than she is presently receiving. Hopefully someone will intervene before she harms herself or someone else.

Have you checked out Amanda Bynes’ Twitter account to read some of the bizarre messages posted there?

  • Amanda Bynes: Parents Dropping Conservatorship?

Amanda Bynes has reportedly been released from her psychiatric hold and has been spotted wandering around Hollywood. Now it seems her parents may also be dropping the conservatorship a court granted them over their daughter in the midst of her most recent bout of erratic behavior.

Sources told PerezHilton.com that Amanda Bynes has made death threats against both of her parents, and for that reason they plan to drop their conservatorship and move back to Texas. Bynes has siblings in Texas, too, and they fear for their lives as well as for their parents’ well being.

It was just yesterday that Amanda Bynes tweeted that she has bipolar disorder. She told followers that she was both taking prescribed medication for the mental illness as well as seeing a psychiatrist.

Bynes also tweeted a series of rants that clearly pertain to the present situation between her and her parents.

It’s beyond obvious in reading these tweets posted by Amanda Bynes that the young woman needs some serious help. If she is on her medication then it may need to be altered. And if she has truly made death threats to her parents, then perhaps she isn’t fit to be back out on the streets.

Mental illness is a terrible disease, but can typically be controlled with the right combination of medication and therapy. Too often, however, patients won’t stick it out until that right combination is discovered or they simply refuse to take their meds. Hopefully someone can help Amanda Bynes find some balance before she either hurts someone else or herself.

  • Amanda Bynes Committed, Reportedly Feels Parents Deceived Her

Amanda Bynes is presently confined to a mental facility in Pasadena, and TMZ is reporting that she hates her parents, and blames them for having her committed.

The publication reports that her parents worked in conjunction with Sam Lufti–Britney Spears’ former manager–to lure her back to L.A. from New York City.

“Lutfi convinced her to take a car service to what she believed was a Pasadena law office, where she would meet with a lawyer about suing her parents for abuse. The building was actually a mental facility. When she walked in the front door, she was restrained and involuntarily committed,” they say.

Despite Amanda Bynes’ anger over being committed, others believe Lufti–in conjunction with her parents–did the right thing.

Sources tell TMZ that Amanda Bynes feels ‘utterly betrayed’ and that her relationship with her parents is ‘destroyed forever.’

Fox News reports that upon her arrival at LAX, Amanda Bynes told photographers that she wanted to be “like Marilyn Monroe” and that she couldn’t wait for her father to be “dead in his grave.”

RadarOnline says Bynes is stuck in the mental health facility in Pasadena, as her initial hold has been extended. In fact, a source tells them she could now be there for as long as two weeks.

“Amanda’s parents are hopeful that she will remain at Las Encinas for the next fourteen days,” the source said. “She would continue to pose a significant danger to herself and others if released.”

In the meantime Amanda Bynes’ parents are once again getting the necessary legal paperwork prepared to petition for conservatorship of their daughter. For the moment, however, they are simply happy she is safe.

  • Amanda Bynes in N.Y.C. Sporting Mysterious Bandage, Acting Paranoid

Amanda Bynes was spotted in New York City on the heels of her recent DUI arrest. She was sporting a mysterious bandage on her face and was smoking a cigarette, as she strolled the city streets, dressed in peculiar layers of clothing.

People magazine reports that the former Nickelodeon sweetheart and star of shows like All That and The Amanda Show, was taken into custody last Sunday morning just outside of L.A. for suspicion of ‘driving under the influence of a controlled substance.’ Amanda Bynes is currently on three years’ probation following a DUI arrest back in 2012 and for starting a fire in a neighbor’s driveway in 2013.

The bizarre look–including the disheveled layered clothing and the mysterious bandage–no doubt reminds people of the strange get ups the former actress sported when she was exhibiting serious signs of mental illness. This likely leads many to hope that Amanda Bynes hasn’t gone off any prescribed medications or started abusing drugs and/or alcohol. Any of these scenarios could lead to her spiraling down a dark hole.

TMZ refers to Amanda Bynes’ present situation as ‘dire.’ They report that sources told them she appears paranoid–yet another sign of mental illness or drug abuse. She was reportedly seen ‘talking to inanimate objects,’ including a tree.

Is it time for Amanda Bynes’ parents to head back to court and petition for yet another conservatorship over their daughter? It’s likely what saved her from herself the last time she spiraled. This is a profoundly sad situation. Bynes had been doing well for several months. She even attended fashion school, but was recently kicked out just prior to the DUI arrest.

Do you think there’s a chance the Amanda simply slipped up once and is merely visiting New York on a whim? Or do you think there’s something far more serious going on?

The reality doesn’t sound particularly positive–does it?

  • Amanda Bynes Looks Healthy, Happy at Fashion School Event

Amanda Bynes looked happy and healthy when she appeared at an event on Friday held at her school, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in L.A. She posed for photos with her parents as they checked out the projects she spent a semester creating. Bynes studies fashion at the school.

“Debut showcases the work of students in the advanced program. Everyone from current students to industry professionals attends,” Sydney Taylor, also a student at the school, said. “Amanda looked beautiful and is so sweet. She was being very discreet about being there but smilingly hugged anyone who asked to meet her.”

“Amanda looks like she’s getting back to normal,” a guest at the event remarked. “She looked good and was being friendly.”

Amanda Bynes seemed proud of her accomplishments at the design institute and likely of her huge strides toward becoming healthier in both body and mind. She shared some photos of her big day via Twitter.

This next picture Bynes tweeted is of her with her mom, who holds an indefinite conservatorship over the actress. It definitely appears like she took very necessary measures, however–ones that ultimately saved her daughter’s life.

It is wonderful to see how far Amanda Bynes has come since her days of appearing front and center in the tabloid news. Mental illness and addiction are serious illnesses that can prove deadly if not treated with both therapy and medication. Thankfully Bynes received–and continues to receive–both, and obviously is working on creating a new life for herself in the world of fashion design.

She is “very happy to reestablish the loving relationship with her family that she once shared,” an attorney for her mother said following her release from her inpatient treatment facility a few months ago.

  • Kerri Kasem: Not Loving Visitation Agreement at All

Kerri, Mike and Julie Kasem told the media in September that their father’s current wife was not allowing them to visit him.

It got so bad that Casey Kasem’s ex-wife, children, friends and colleagues staged a protest in front of his home with signs declaring how much they miss and love Kasem.

As Kasem’s Parkinson’s Disease worsened, the kids got more frantic to see him. They quickly decimated any public suspicions of seeking financial opportunities from their wealthy father; they were all trust fund recipients and now hold well-paying jobs. They are aware that they have already been cut out of the will since the new marriage and have accepted that.

The Kasem offspring decided to take it a step further by bringing their concerns to the courts to request a conservatorship. According to the Associated Press, a settlement between the two parties has been reached to avoid that. The two younger siblings, Mike and Julie, are happy and relieved– but the eldest, Kerri Kasem is not.

As the settlement was announced Friday, Kerri Kasem remains dissatisfied. The settlement terms are not publicized, but Kerri wishes to find an agreement that allows her to visit her father without some of those restrictions placed.

What do you think: Is this a case of the younger, wicked step-mother trying to protect her name in the will, or a case of a wife knowing what’s best for her ailing husband? It is hoped that the affairs swirling around Casey Kasem are not causing extra distress for him as he deals with a debilitating illness.

  • Casey Kasem’s Children May See Him Soon

Casey Kasem’s Children May See Him Soon

Casey Kasem’s children may be drawing near the end of their battle with Casey’s wife, and may finallly be able to see him soon, according to People. Kerri, 41, Julie, 38, and Mike, 40 have been at odds with his wife, Jean, since this summer when they staged peaceful protests outside the home she shares with Casey, and claimed that she would not allow them to see their father.

“There is no communication between Jean and us and his daughters,” brother Mouner Kasem said Saturday. “We have no knowledge of how he is, what he’s doing, if he’s better, if he’s worse, and we’re scared that we’ll never see him again.”

This led to suspicions that he was not being properly cared for in the advanced stages of his Parkinson’s disease. In addition to suffering from Parkinson’s disease, he “may have early onset Parkinson’s dementia.”, according to CNN. Kasem has the “ability to shuffle short distances, but is mainly bedridden and requires the assistance of a wheelchair to move any distance,” a court document said.

However, Don Pitts, Casey’s agent of over 35 years and close friend said Casey is still of sound mind. “He has Parkinson’s, has it very bad. It took his speech, and for somebody who made millions of dollars using his voice — for him to lose that gift, that beautiful instrument — it must be frustrating. But he’s handling it very well,” Pitts said. “His mind is very sharp, his brain works well. You can tell in his eyes he understands everything you’re saying. He just has trouble translating it from the brain to his vocal cords.”

Julie filed for temporary control of his health care after suspicions were raised, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lesley C. Green denied her petition. “He’s receiving either good to excellent care,” Judge Green stated. “I find no good cause for a temporary conservatorship.”

Andrew Katzenstein, the attorney for Julie said that “they were happy that the judge focused her attention on the important issue of visitation,” he said. “Mr. Kasem has a long strong and loving relationship with his adult children and we are continuing to try and reach resolution with the other side so visits can begin again.”

He also said, “We’re happy to know Casey Kasem is well cared for, and we’re thrilled the judge addressed the issue of visitation. Mr. Kasem very much wants to see his children. We’re now going to see if we can make that happen.”

A court appointed physician that was looking into Kasem’s health care status, said that Casey had expressed a desire to him for seeing his children. “I’m going to push you to work on this,” said Judge Green.

The two parties have been trying to reach an agreement, but the attorney for Jean said they have put two visitation proposals on the table, and both have been rejected by the kids. The attorney, Marshall Grossman, said the proposal included individual visits with Kasem every third Sunday for one hour, including major holidays and Kasem’s birthday. But there was a catch. He said that there must be a security guard present “to ensure there is decorum.”

Hmmm. One hour a month with a guard hovering around. I wonder why that one was rejected?

Grossman assured the judge that, “We’re not looking to provide a piecemeal solution, we’re looking to bring peace to this matter.” Negotiations will continue next week, and despite the two rejections, Grossman is optimistic that an agreement can be reached by the two parties.

  • Casey Kasem: Conservatorship Denied In Case

In early October, Casey Kasem’s children filed a petition to gain control of the ailing American Top 40 radio legend. On Tuesday, a judge denied their conservatorship saying Kasem was receiving adequate medical care.

Kasem’s children filed for conservatorship because they said his wife of more than 30 years, Jean, was keeping them from seeing their 81-year-old father.

Kasem’s daughter Julie filed the petition to get temporary conservatorship of her father to make sure he was being properly cared for while suffering from Parkinson’s disease and to allow his children from his first marriage to see their father whenever they could. In October, Julie told ABC News, “I don’t want any of the money. She can have all of it…all of it and then some. Just give us our father.”

The conservatorship was denied because Superior Court Judge Lesley Green received reports from doctors that Kasem was receiving the medical attention he needs from his home with Jean.

Lawyers for all parties were urged to reach an agreement that would allow Kasem’s three adult children, Julie, Mike and Kerri, to visit with their father by Judge Green. While Judge Green admits there is obvious “bad blood” between the parties, Kasem has told a doctor who evaluated him that he would like to see his children.

Jean Kasem is denying that she was completely keeping Kasem’s children from visiting with him. Her lawyer Marshall Grossman said Kasem’s children denied an arrangement allowing them to see their father once a month and on all major holidays. “Jean has offered Casey’s other adult children visitation rights on major holidays, Casey’s birthday and every three weeks. They have declined this offer and it remains open,” said Grossman.

Grossman told Judge Green, “We’re looking to bring peace, not piecemeal,” and he hopes an agreement can be reached to keep from further court action.

A court date for December 20, 2013 was made by Judge Green where she hopes an visitation agreement for Kasem’s children has been reached.

  • Zsa Zsa Gabor’s Daughter Asks Judge For Conservatorship For Actress, 95

Constance Francesca Hilton, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s daughter, is seeking help from a judge to gain control of her mother’s finances and medical treatment.

The socialite and actress has been in ill health for several years after a car accident in 2002 and two strokes, which necessitated the partial amputation of her right leg. Her ninth husband, Von Anhalt, is currently overseeing her care, much to Hilton’s dismay; in a photograph released last year, Anhalt is seen toasting champagne with Gabor, which incensed her daughter.

“He once again uses my mother to bring publicity to himself,” Hilton told CNN after the photo was made public. “He once again releases photos of my mother in unflattering situations without hair and makeup, two things that were so important to her. This time he is feeding her alcohol, which could be detrimental to her condition since she is on numerous medications,” she said. “It’s disgusting and no one is doing anything about it.”

Hilton claims that Anhalt is isolating her mother from her–she is an only child–and is keeping her sedated. Her concern is also that he is mishandling her finances, and says she would be willing to take over and share the responsibilities with a third party to prove she’s not just trying to gain access to her mother’s money, as she is accused of doing by Anhalt.

“By isolating me from my mother, not only does her current husband deprive her of my love and companionship, but he goes against estate planning documents that appear to reflect her wishes that he not be in sole control of her affairs,” Hilton wrote in a declaration accompanying her petition.

A hearing regarding the conservatorship is scheduled for May 2nd.
