  • Bobbi Kristina Is Indeed ‘Awake’, Bobby Brown’s Lawyer Clarifies Statement

There might be some truth to Bobby Brown’s hopeful exclamation that his daughter Bobbi Kristina “is awake,” but it’s just not in the way he hopes.

Days after his announcement that “my baby’s awake” during a performance at the Verizon Theatre in Texas, the singer’s attorney clarified his remarks about Bobbi Kristina’s condition.

Lawyer Christopher Brown admitted that “Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement” and added that her doctors have indicated that she’ll live.

“However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come,” Brown said.

Aside from Brown’s earlier statement, the news of Bobbi Kristina’s recovery was further fueled by a Facebook post from her aunt Tina, who said the 22-year-old “woke up and is no longer on life support.” However, other sources close to the family said she was still in an unresponsive state. Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, also gave a statement about her husband’s comments, clarifying that he was in “an emotional state” when he said them.

“He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization,” she explained. “She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard.”

But an insider disclosed that even though Bobbi Kristina has opened her eyes, she’s still unresponsive and has to rely on a ventilator to breathe.

The only child of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in her bath tub last Jan. 31. She was placed in a medically induced coma while being treated for head injuries. Doctors attempted to bring her out of the coma last February but had to put her back under after she had several violent seizures.

She has since been transferred to a private rehabilitation center – possibly in anticipation of a long recovery process.

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown: What’s True and What’s False?

Bobbi Kristina Brown was found face down and unresponsive in her bathtub in Roswell, Georgia almost two weeks ago–and since that time lots of things have cropped up in the media about her condition. Does anyone–besides doctors and those at her bedside–know what is true and what is false regarding her situation?

People magazine reports that Bobbi Kristina Brown is, in fact, on life support. Her breathing is aided by a ventilator. She hasn’t regained consciousness since being found in the bathtub.

“She’s got some color back,” an unnamed family member told the publication, “but she’s still not responding.”

The rumor that Bobbi Kristina Brown would be removed from life support on the anniversary of her mother, Whitney Houston’s, death on February 11th was false. This was determined ahead of the 11th via a statement from Bobby Brown’s lawyer.

What is the deal with Nick Gordon? He and Bobbi Kristina Brown weren’t ever married, yet called themselves husband and wife. A recent report says Nick Gordon isn’t at Bobbi Kristina’s bedside because the family has made it known he isn’t welcome there.

It seems that different relatives of Bobbi Kristina have different ideas of what her condition is, and those relatives have voiced their beliefs via social media.

For example, her cousin Jerod Brown said the doctors “don’t see any hope.”

Bobbi Kristina’s Aunt Leolah, however, spoke with Fox News in Atlanta, and told them her niece is “still on life support,” she is “opening her eyes … There are a couple more things that she’s doing but Krissi is doing well right now.”

Another member of the family said, “She is not brain dead. There is hope.”

People magazine spoke with doctors who say Bobbi Kristina Brown’s chances of making a recovery are based mostly on how long she was underwater in that bathtub.

“Even minutes [without air] can be grim,” neurologist Eli Zimmerman of Massachusetts General Hospital said.

Columbia University’s Department of Neurology explained to People that eye opening–as in the case of Bobbi Kristina Brown opening her eyes from time to time while in a coma–can still be “accompanied by a total lack of cognitive or mental activity of any type.”

That said, no one really knows the real condition of Bobbi Kristina Brown, besides those hearing direct news from her doctors. And since nothing official has been announced to the media for quite some time, that leaves everyone wondering, hoping, and praying.

The Bobbi Kristina Brown case has become an official investigation. That likely leaves some wondering if information is being kept mum until the investigation is complete.

  • Six Flags Fight Leaves Teen In Coma

A fight that occurred on Saturday night at Six Flags America during the first weekend of Halloween Fright Fest has left a 15-year-old boy in a medically induced coma.

According to witnesses, the night was full of fights, but visitors started calling police at approximately 8:50 p.m. when a large brawl broke out amongst a group of teenage boys. Despite the other fights, authorities are continuing to call the altercation an “isolated incident.”

“It was panic, mayhem, chaos,” Katrina Walker, a mother who dropped her son and two of his friends off at the Prince George’s County theme park, said. “Everyone was fearful . . . parents were very scared because we had no idea if our children were hurt or if they got in the middle of something.”

According to Fox News, Six Flags denied the incident at first, and then changed their stance the next day. “Reports of mass fighting or serious injuries are completely inaccurate. The safety of our guests is of top priority,” the park said initially. “This park has a zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior. We will not allow any individuals or groups to disrupt the typical atmosphere of fun and enjoyment found here,” they later said in a statement on Sunday.

A 15-year-old DuVal High School student was taken to the hospital and was supposed to undergo surgery on Monday to relieve the swelling from his brain from being hit in the head. However, the surgery was cancelled when the swelling stabilized. The boy is expected to recover.

“His life is lying in the balance as a result of someone randomly hitting him,” Zina Pierre, a family friend, said. “He was hit blindly by the perpetrators and he was staggering, trying to get up, and some else came along to finish the deed.”

Authorities are still investigating the incident and are trying to determine if the fights were planned ahead of time.

  • Joan Rivers Still In A Coma, Family Remains Hopeful

Fashion Police host and veteran comedienne Joan Rivers is still under a medically induced coma, but her family remains optimistic that she will wake up. According to The Associated Press, Rivers’ daughter Melissa gave a statement on her mother’s condition on Sunday, saying, “We are keeping our fingers crossed.”

The younger Rivers also thanked fans and well-wishers for their “continued love and support” in the statement, which was posted on her mother’s website. “My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world,” she wrote. “Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”

The comedy legend was reportedly undergoing a procedure on her vocal chords at a clinic in New York when she suddenly went into cardiac arrest last Thursday. She was reported to have stopped breathing during the procedure and was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital. The incident happened just one day after Rivers appeared at an employee event for Time Inc., where witnesses said she appeared well. The news of her condition has affected fans and colleagues of Rivers, many of whom expressed their support for her recovery on social media sites. Rivers’ Fashion Police co-host, Giuliana Rancic, tweeted on Saturday, “Praying for @Joan_Rivers and @MelRivers. Even though Joan’s the strongest woman I know, every single prayer counts. I love you, Joan.”

The third host of E!’s fashion series also tweeted about praying for Rivers’ recuperation. “4 the first time in years I got down on my knees & prayed tonight! I encourage U 2 do the same 4 @Joan_Rivers my grandma! #inconsolable,” wrote Kelly Osbourne.

Melissa Rivers will reportedly be making a decision in the following days on whether she will be taking her mother off life support.

  • Joan Rivers In Coma: Star Stopped Breathing During Surgery

According to ET, comedienne Joan Rivers remains in stable but critical condition after things went wrong during routine throat surgery.

The 81-year-old was at a medical clinic for a simple endoscopic procedure, which TMZ reported as related to an issue with her vocal cords.

It was during the early stages of the procedure that Rivers suddenly stopped breathing.

The Fashion Police host was then immediately rushed to New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital.

She was reportedly placed in a medically-induced coma.

It is an unfortunate situation that has many fans, non-famous and famous alike, worried about her condition and wishing her a swift recovery.

River’s daughter Melissa arrived in New York Thursday evening on a flight from Los Angeles to be with her mother.

Melissa Rivers said in a statement to ET:

“[My mother] is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”

A spokesman for Mount Sinai hospital also released a statement confirming that she is being treated at the location and reaffirming her family’s gratefulness for the outpouring of support.

“We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available,” said the spokesman.

Joan Rivers was expected to begin her new web series In Bed With Joan.

Ahead of her health making a turn for the worse, she was reported to have begun promoting a new book called Diary of a Mad Diva.

She had also recently filmed a special edition of Fashion Police covering the red carpet looks for the Prime-time Emmy Awards.

Rivers found herself at the center of quite a bit of controversy in recent months.

She famously walked off the air during a CNN interview when the host criticized her about her “mean” opinions and tendency to cross the line on sensitive issues and a unique figure in pop culture.

While Joan Rivers remains a controversial and divisive figure, she is undeniably one of the most outspoken women in the entertainment business.

  • Michael Schumacher Out Of Coma – Leaves Hospital

Nearly six months after Michael Schumacher suffered a serious head injury that left him in a coma, the seven-time Formula One champion has woken up and left the French hospital, where he had been staying since the accident in December, and has been transferred to a neighboring hospital in Switzerland, where his wife and two children reside.

“Michael has left the CHU Grenoble [hospital] to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore,” Michael’s spokeswoman Sabine Kehm said in a statement. “[Michael’s family] would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months.”

“The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. … We are sure it helped him,” Kehm added. “For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”

While Kehm did not say where Michael was headed, the University Hospital of Lausanne in western Switzerland revealed that Schumacher had been admitted there. “He is here, he arrived this morning,” hospital spokeswoman Darcy Christen said.

The 45-year-old first entered the hospital on December 29 after suffering severe head injuries while on a ski trip at the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps. The doctors put Schumacher in a medically induced coma to rest his brain and decrease swelling. The doctors then operated on Schumacher’s brain to remove several blood clots. In January, the doctors started decreasing the medications in hopes of waking him up.

Since the accident, little has been known about Michael’s condition, and the extent of his injuries are still unclear.

  • Woman In Coma Gives Birth To A Healthy Baby Boy

Melissa Carlton, a pregnant woman from Fresno, California, fell into a coma ten weeks ago, while undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor.

The coma resulted from a seizure she suffered, during the surgery, and her family wasn’t sure if she, or the baby, would make it. Miraculously, they both survived, and on Thursday, May 22, Melissa was able to deliver a healthy baby boy named Nathaniel West by undergoing a cesarean section at UCSF. Baby Nathan weighed in at 5 pounds, 9 ounces, and seems to be doing perfectly fine.

Brian Lande, Melissa’s husband, has not left her side since the birth of his baby boy. Melissa is still in a coma, but is recovering from the C-section fine. Not only is she recovering well, Melissa is also showing some signs of improvement. She was able to open her eyes and look at her newborn son, and was able to give Brian a hug. Melissa is even able to nurse her son with some assistance. Lande is caring for his son and his wife day and night. He is having to suffer through the sleepless nights alone, but is happy to do it, and is just glad to have them both alive and well.

“She was making eye contact with the baby and that’s fairly new,” Melissa’s father, John Farrell, said. “She grabbed Brian’s cheek with her hand and she pulled his face down to her face and she gave him the first hug that he’s had since this trauma.”

“This is a story of joy, and it’s not lost on us that this is a story about Brian and his love. He has taken care of our daughter in a way that parents can only hope for, and that’s a credit to Melissa, because (she) chose him,” Farrell added.

While Melissa is improving, she has still not fully recovered from the coma.

  • Shayne Lamas: ‘Bachelor’ Winner Loses Baby, in Coma

Shayne Lamas, winner of season 12 on The Bachelor, has reportedly lost her baby and is in a coma following a serious pregnancy complication. Paramedics arrived at the home Lamas shares with husband Nik Richie in Orange County earlier on Monday. Shayne had collapsed and was taken to the hospital.

Lamas reportedly lost her unborn baby during surgery and is now on life support in a coma.

This baby would have been the second for Shayne Lamas and Nik Richie. The couple has another daughter, Press Dahl Lamas-Richie, who was born in November of 2011. The loss of this baby will no doubt have an impact on Nik and Shayne’s little girl.

On Monday afternoon doctors reported that Shayne Lamas was not “breathing on her own,” however they were “optimistic” about her dire medical situation. Her father, Lorenzo Lamas, is by her side, along with Nik Richie.

It was only a few weeks ago when Nik Richie confirmed that Shayne was in fact expecting their second baby.

“Both Shayne and I are super excited for our second child,” the co-founder of celeb site TheDirty.com said in one of his blog posts. “I’ve grown so much as a father and Shayne is an amazing mother. Together we are a great team and love each other very much.”

It was only about three weeks ago when Shayne Lamas posted the following on Instagram about her pregnancy.

Hopefully Shayne Lamas emerges from her coma and makes a full recovery. It will no doubt be devastating for her to learn that she lost her baby. It is far more important, however, for her to survive this harrowing ordeal and to be around to raise the couple’s other little girl.

Prayer are no doubt being said from around the world for the former Bachelor winner as she struggles to survive.

  • Ariel Sharon, Former Israeli Prime Minister, Dead

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has died at the age of 85. He spent the past eight years in a coma after suffering a severe stroke. Sharon was both loved and hated in Israel for his efforts in reshaping the Middle East. He will be remembered as both a political figure and a battlefield general who, despite his critics, was almost always able to complete what he set out to accomplish.

The head of the Sheba Medical Center, located near Tel Aviv, reports that Ariel Sharon died on Saturday afternoon their time, of heart failure. Sheba Medical Center Director Professor Shlomo Noy explained to reporters gathered outside the hospital that Sharon’s health had made a fast decline during the past week.

“Over the past week he struggled with surprising strength and determination against the deterioration in his condition. Today he departed peacefully with his loving family at his side,” he explained.

Professor Noy went on to say the former prime minister had experienced many “ups and downs” in the years since his stroke in 2006.

Ariel Sharon led Israel during some of the most turbulent times in that country’s history. Often referred to as “the bulldozer,” he witnessed a Palestinian uprising follow failed peace talks in 2000 and the tough military response that followed. He was known, too, as a tough warrior who led “decisive campaigns” during Israeli wars in bothh 1967 and 1973.

Sharon was widowed twice. Interestingly his second wife was his first wife’s sister. He had three children and is survived by two sons. It will certainly be interesting to see how Israel mourns the passing of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

  • Michael Schumacher Now in Post-Surgery ICU

The seven-time Formula One champion has one more precarious lap to make before he reaches his 45th birthday on January 3rd.

Michael Schumacher’s head struck a rock during a back-country skiing fall in the French Alps with his 14-year-old son Sunday, and medical officials have stated today that he is in intensive care in critical condition.

The situation escalated quickly Sunday afternoon; the director of the Meribel resort where Schumacher was visiting initially told reporters that the injury was “serious” but not life-threatening, only for the report to be contrasted by the statement that Schumacher was suffering from “severe cranial trauma” from the mountain police who administered first aid to him.

He was then airlifted to a local hospital, but soon taken to another hospital where renowned neurosurgeon Gerard Sailant was rushed in to perform emergency surgery.

The operation is complete, and Schumacher is now in a coma. If he fell into a coma or was put into an artificial coma for the surgery is a bit unclear; the press has received slightly conflicting information from those involved in the frantic hours between the accident and his surgery.

As of now, Michael Schumacher is recovering from surgery in an artificial coma in intensive care. We now await the next update.

Schumacher’s 14-year-old son was not involved in the accident, and Schumacher’s helmet served as a great protectant in the fall.

  • Second iPhone Electrocution Case Emerges In China

Earlier this week, news began circulating that a young woman was killed when she was electrocuted by her iPhone. Police and Apple are still investigating the incident, but many believe that the deadly shock was due to a problem with the phone’s charger. Now another iPhone electrocution incident has occurred in China.

Want China Times is reporting that Wu Jiantong was charging his phone on July 8 when his sister, Wu Jianxing, heard him exclaim that he was being electrocuted. She found him on the floor convulsing with the plugged in iPhone next to him. She unplugged the device, but reports feeling a slight shock herself from the charger.

Unlike the previous case of Ma Ailun, Jiantong didn’t die from the shock. He is, however, in a coma, and has been in one for 10 days. There’s no word on his current condition beyond that.

After two of these incidents happening so close together, people are obviously wondering what the hell is going on here. It seems that both victims were using unofficial chargers not made by Apple. These chargers reportedly have a small uninsulated metal part that could deliver a deadly shock if touched.

There’s another theory going around as well regarding the unofficial chargers. An engineer said that Apple’s official chargers drop the voltage from 220 volts to 5 volts when charging a phone. These unofficial chargers may be delivering the full 220 volts to the phone, and therefore could deliver a deadly shock to the person using it.

Obviously, this is nothing but speculation for now. We won’t know what really happened for sure until the police and Apple finish up their investigation into the matter.

  • Gallagher Suffers Another Heart Attack

Legendary prop comic Gallagher has suffered another mild heart attack, four days after being discharged from a Dallas-area hospital where he was recuperating from a separate heart attack.

Allegedly, the comedian ran out of the medication he was taking, and began to feel chest pains, prompting him to seek treatment at an Arizona hospital. He is awake and resting comfortably now.”

Gallagher was initially hospitalized for his current medical condition on March 14, after collapsing just before a performance. He was then placed in a medically induced coma while recovering.

Gallagher had recently claimed he was set to retire from live performances after 32 years, calling his trade ‘baby-sitting people who can’t handle alcohol.’

  • Gallagher Out of Coma

    Gallagher Out of Coma

Comedy legend Gallagher was taken out of a medically induced coma, after recently suffering a heart attack near Dallas, Texas.

The prop comic’s promotional manager Christine Scherrer said that Gallagher instantly recognized his family members after doctors slowly woke him up. Scherrer adds that Gallagher is breathing on his own, moving around and cracking jokes, but there is no word on how long he will remain hospitalized.

The comedian, born Leo Anthony Gallagher, had two stents replaced after collapsing Wednesday before a performance at Lewisville, TX bar.
