  • Stacey Dash Gets Schooled By Kids Regarding Black History Month

Stacey Dash has managed – in a short span of time – to be one of the most hated celebrities of our time. Ever since she officially turned conservative in 2008 and actively campaigned for then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney, she also became very vocal about her dislike of liberals and the Obama administration. Naturally, her outspoken views eventually landed her a gig as a contributor on Fox News.

She’s really done it this time, with her recent comments about why black-oriented events and organizations should be eliminated because they “further divide us” as Americans.

In the January 20 episode of Fox & Friends, Stacey Dash appeared to comment on the Oscar boycott controversy started by actress Jada Pinkett Smith. Calling the whole thing “ludicrous,” the Clueless actress went on to explain why she disapproves of these culture-based institutions.

Stacey Dash Made Some Controversial Comments About BET and Black History Month

“Either we want to have segregation or integration,” said Stacey Dash, who is of Bajan, African-American, and Mexican descent. “And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”

As expected, celebrities from the film, music, and television industries reacted to her comments, with most of them slamming her and a few others expressing their support.

Her latest set of critics consist of several African-American children that were gathered by the non-profit organization, Because of Them We Can. In the one-minute video that was uploaded to YouTube, the kids express their shock at the suggestions of Stacey Dash, and proceed to explain why they think that Black History Month should stay.

“It forces us to talk about our amazing history and it didn’t begin with slavery, no negativity, no stereotypes, all excellence because that’s who and what we are,” said one of the kids.

A young boy looked into the camera, as if addressing Stacey Dash directly, and said, “We’re not cancelling anything, so you have to rock with us for 29 days.”

  • Alicia Silverstone, Jeremy Sisto Team Up For ‘Clueless’ Reunion at AMAs

Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto teamed up for a Clueless reunion Sunday at the 2015 American Music Awards.

The 39-year-old actress and 41-year-old actor, who played Cher Horowitz and Elton Tiscia in the 1995 movie, were reunited to introduce Gwen Stefani ahead of her I Used to Love You performance.

“It’s been 20 years since Jeremy and I worked on the movie Clueless,” Silverstone told the audience, as reported by UPI. “And we are proud to be a part of [director] Amy Heckerling’s film.”

“One of the many, many great things in this movie was this young, up and coming band named No Doubt and their song Just a Girl,” Sisto added. “It featured the amazing voice of [Gwen Stefani].”

Stefani took to the stage to perform her emotional new single, I Used to Love You, inspired by the split with her husband Gavin Rossdale. The single will appear on her forthcoming third solo album. sons Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.

Clueless hit theaters in July 1995, and earned over $56 million at the box office. The film was so successful it developed a cult following and launched an ABC/UPN television series and a young adult book series by H.B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld.

Alicia Silverstone has starred in Batman & Robin and Blast from the Past, and is slated to star with James Franco in King Cobra. Sisto portrayed Billy Chenowith on Six Feet Under and Det. Cyrus Lupo on Law & Order, and recently starred in Wicked City.

  • Alicia Silverstone, Jeremy Sisto: “Clueless” Costars Reunite on AMAs Stage, Introduce Gwen Stefani

Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto enjoyed a short-but-sweet Clueless reunion on stage at the AMAs on Sunday.

“It’s been 20 years since Jeremy and I worked on the movie Clueless. And we are proud to be a part of Amy Heckerling’s film,” Silverstone said as the crowd cheered for the beloved cult classic costars.

“You know one of the many, many great things in the movie was this young, up and coming band named No Doubt and their song “Just a Girl,’” Jeremy Sisto said. “It featured the amazing voice of [Gwen Stefani].”

Clueless was loosely based on Jane Austen’s classic Emma. The coming-of-age comedy took place in Beverly Hills, where Alicia Silverstone’s character Cher was a spoiled teenager. Sisto’s character, Elton Tiscia, was based on Austen’s Philip Elton.

The AMAs crowd quickly recovered from their excitement over seeing Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto together on stage when they realized the pair was introducing Gwen Stefani.

The No Doubt front woman–now linked to Blake Shelton–sang a heart wrenching “Used to Love U,” a song she wrote about ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.

Did you see the American Music Awards on Sunday evening?

Were you surprised at how much Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto still look like their Clueless characters?

  • Katy Perry Would Be A Total Betty In The “Clueless” Musical

Katy Perry has a pretty busy schedule, but if director Amy Heckerling had her way, she’d tap the pop star to take the stage in the upcoming Clueless musical.

Heckerling told Vulture that she “loves” the idea of having Perry star in the show, but she understands it would be a huge undertaking to get a celebrity of Perry’s magnitude.

“I love Katy Perry. But you never know what will happen, she has a whole big schedule,” Heckerling said.

With her history of candy-colored costumes and retro sensibilities, Katy Perry seems like the obvious choice for a show about a hopeful teen who just wants to give the world a makeover, and she has actually said she’s interested in playing the lead role of Cher (played by Alicia Silverstone in the film). It’s not too late, either–the role hasn’t been filled yet.

Heckerling says the show will likely debut sometime in 2016, but a date has not been set. She also says it will be as true to the movie as possible, which will likely be music to fans’ ears. The production will actually be a “jukebox musical”, meaning it will use popular songs rather than originals.

“I don’t think you will go, ‘Oh, it’s just karaoke to the movie, or it is an entirely different animal.’ It is true to the movie, but it sings, hopefully,” Heckerling said.

“Everything goes so slowly. I go, wow, this takes a lot. I thought movies took a long time. It’s hard to know with Broadway when things will happen,” Heckerling told the New York Daily News.

Katy Perry made headlines recently when she attended the 8th annual Go Campaign Gala and debuted a sleek black bob, a simple choice from a lady who usually has brightly-colored tresses. Perry sat with Robert Pattinson and his fiancee FKA Twigs and bid on a Mexican dinner for 50 people, which she won for $5,500.

  • Alicia Silverstone and Amy Schumer: Clueless About Fashion?

Alicia Silverstone was already turning heads when the movie Clueless came out 20 years ago. After that film hit, Silverstone enjoyed a reputation based largely on her character, Cher, from the film. Everyone thought Alicia Silverstone was a real fashion icon.

The big secret, Clueless costume designer Mona May reveals now, is that Silverstone was a bit clueless about fashion.

“[Alicia] was really young, and I don’t think she was really experienced with high fashion. When we brought all this crazy stuff, it was a little bit new to her,” May said. “We almost had to educate her on how do you wear the clothes, how do you feel in the clothes? It’s a whole different thing of running around with your dogs in your sweatpants, as she always does to this day.”

“She was Cher in the sense of the innocence,” May explained, making the connection between Silverstone and her character. “Cher was never contrived, and I think Alicia’s heart is open like that, so it was fun to play with the clothes and teach her to be the high-fashion maven.”

Recently, Amy Schumer had a similar awakening, and at the hands of another costume designer.

During filming of her new film Trainwreck, Schumer got to know costume designer Leesa Evans. Schumer, like Alicia Silverstone, was not exactly comfortable with fashion.

“Not everyone’s wired to understand how to dress,” Schumer explains. “I don’t have that chip. I’ve sometimes not even wanted to leave the house because I can’t find an outfit. I feel best when someone who knows what they’re doing and knows me has dressed me. So ask a friend!”

For her appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of Trainwreck, Schumer hooked back up with Evans for some pre-show dress-up.

“I’m thrilled with Amy’s look from last night. It felt strong, daring and elegant,” Evans says. “In thinking about what dress would be perfect for Amy’s first film premiere, I wanted it to reflect all of the effort she put in as the writer, producer and star. Dion Lee designed a great dress, equal parts sexy, strong and sophisticated. I loved it on Amy.”

“I think the best part of this process has been that Amy has started to recognize that certain shapes and styles make her feel so great,” Evans said. “I love working with Amy because we both believe that confidence in dressing is more attractive than any one dress or outfit. I’m so happy that Amy has found a way to truly enjoy fashion both on and off the red carpet.”

  • Alicia Silverstone: Her Failed Movie Career, Successful Theatre Life, And Her Quest To Change The World

Alicia Silverstone will forever be Cher from Clueless in the minds of the masses. Or perhaps she will remain an eternal Aerosmith video girl to many.

But, some know that Alicia Silverstone has a surprisingly successful career in theatre and has played some major parts in some serious plays.

And, in spite of her seemingly failed movie career, Alicia Silversone is exceedingly happy.

Alicia Silverstone recently revealed to The Guardian her feelings about starring it what seemed like highly sexual roles, like the Aerosmith videos and The Crush, when she was only a teenager.

She said, “I didn’t feel uncomfortable. I was just being. I know The Crush was a very serious acting role for me and I fought hard to get it. I didn’t think of it as sexual at all. I didn’t feel like I was going out there and shaking my booty.”

She added, “In the Aerosmith videos, when Marty [Callner], the director, and I talked about doing “Crazy”, the one with Liv Tyler, we plotted it out together. Right away I said, ‘I’m not going to strip. I’ll be the man.’”

Alicia Silverstone also spoke of her brief movie career. She admitted that she didn’t even start out wanting to be in movies and when her career came full circle back to theatre, only then was she truely where she felt she wanted to be.

Alicia Silverstone said, “I was so overwhelmed. I was just a theatre kid. I never wanted to be in movies or TV. There’s no support or schooling on what do you do when you suddenly found yourself famous as a young woman. It was just too much for me. So I decided I would use this to spotlight something that is very meaningful to me.”

She added, “I went on a quest to change the world, to make things better – for children, for the earth, for animals. I wasn’t paying attention to my career, I was paying attention to something else. And then one day I went, ‘Wait, I want to act, too, what’s going on?’”

Alicia Silverstone also said, “There’s a lot more to it that obviously is personal and private. But that’s where I’m at. I can happily have a husband and a child and a life, and I get to contribute in a really meaningful way to the world and I also get to be an actress. And that’s a wonderful thing to be.”

  • Amanda Fuller to Channel Brittany Murphy in Lifetime Biopic

Amanda Fuller, best known for roles in Last Man Standing and Grey’s Anatomy, will channel her best Brittany Murphy for a Lifetime biopic about the late actress, set to air on Sept. 6.

It’s been five years since Murphy died at the age of 32. The Los Angeles coroner determined the actress died of natural causes as a result of pneumonia. Five months after her death, Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack died from the same illness.

The Brittany Murphy Story depicts the close relationship between Murphy and her mother, Sharon, portrayed by Sherilyn Fenn. The story focuses on their shared ambition for the young actress, which culminated with her role in the 1995 cult classic Clueless.

“Her desperation for approval and insecurity about her looks makes her personal life a disaster,” Lifetime said in a statement. “Unlike other stage moms, Sharon was always her daughter’s support system, but that enduring love wasn’t enough to save her sensitive Brittany from the vicissitudes of Hollywood life.”

The movie encompasses Murphy’s early life, rise to fame and continues after her death on Dec. 20, 2009, when her biological father, Angelo Bertolutti, claimed his daughter was poisoned.

In November, Sharon published an open letter in The Hollywood Reporter, slamming her ex-husband for propagating rumors that her death was from anything other than from natural causes.

“We will never know for sure,” Sharon wrote. “However, we do know the Los Angeles County Coroner did extensive tests and found that she died of natural causes. And now she is a real living angel in heaven.”

Murphy had minor roles on television before moving on to star in films, which included Clueless, Girl Interrupted and 8 Mile.

  • Katy Perry Goes Out For Sushi With Broadway King Neil Patrick Harris

No one can deny that Katy Perry is a musical sensation. So it makes sense that a star of her caliber may be headed towards one of the most defining locations for music in the United States.

    Broadway.

Last Friday, Vulture made a report about the director and writer of the movie, Clueless, Amy Heckerling. Her biggest project these days is a musical adaptation of the movie for Broadway. She very interested in having the pop singer to play the lead. “Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” she said.

What is a pop star to do when you might be headed to Broadway to act and sing in a major musical? Why go out and have sushi with Neil Patrick Harris, of course!

But afterward you must tweet about the experience. Harris did:

    And so did Perry:

Speaking of #Fancy. Perry’s biggest competition for the role on Broadway may be the creator of the viral music video, Fancy, Iggy Azalea, who happened to make a tribute to Clueless in the video. “It looked like they had more money for the video than I had for the movie,” Heckerling said when she saw it, “But I was extremely flattered and I thought she was amazing. And whoever did the costumes, I don’t know how they did that.”

When asked about casting in the upcoming musical, she said “Maybe Iggy wants to do it!”

The Broadway life may be too big of a commitment for a pop star like Perry. And if there’s anyone who can fill her in on the Broadway lifestyle, it’s the King of Broadway himself, Neil Patrick Harris. Currently he has the lead in a revival of Hedwig and The Angry Inch, for which he won a Tony.

  • Stacey Dash Joins FOX News as a Contributor

Actress Stacey Dash will be joining FOX News Channel as a contributor, according to a press release issued by the network on Wednesday.

“Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates,” said Executive Vice President of Programming Bill Shine. “We’re pleased to have her join FOX News.”

A native of the Bronx, New York, 47-year-old Dash began her acting career over 20 years ago with guest appearances on The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and St. Elsewhere.

Dash made her feature film debut in 1987’s Enemy Territory. She followed that up with Moving opposite Richard Pryor in 1988, Mo’ Money with Damon Wayans in 1992, and Renaissance Man with Mark Wahlberg in 1994.

Her breakout role came in 1995 when she appeared in Clueless alongside Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, and Paul Rudd.

More recently, Dash starred in Lap Dance, with an ensemble cast that included Carmen Electra, Mariel Hemingway, and Nia Peeples.

In October 2012 Dash drew criticism for tweeting her endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The backlash took the form of what some considered racially-based hate tweets along the lines of “You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing @MittRomney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot.”

Dash stood her ground, replying “My humble opinion… EVERYONE is entitled to one.”

“I tweeted my opinion and when I woke up the next morning, my life had changed,” Dash said recently, looking back on the incident. “And since then, anything I say has been newsworthy.”

Dash, who portrays herself as a paradoxical mix of down-to-earth conservative and modern-day feminist but also admits to harboring dreams of one day running for political office, still seems a little dazzled by the turn her career has taken.

“Twenty years after Clueless I’m starting all over. All because of a tweet!”

Dash is cashing in on the opportunity that single tweet presented, and continues to express her opinions prolifically on Twitter:

    Dash frequently retweets her critics:

“Everyone else can just attack ’em … That way I don’t have to say anything.”

  • Clueless Reunion, Like, Totally Happened

So, like, ok, the cast of iconic 90s film Clueless had a reunion on Tuesday at an L.A. Film Festival pre-screening event celebrating the film. It’s been almost two decades since its release (WE OLD) and stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Elisa Donovan were on hand to reminisce.

“I thought I was channeling Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball. And obviously that wasn’t the case. But I just felt like that! Especially when I pushed [the character Elton] off [of me at a house party]. Those were the things that I found lovely,” said Silverstone of her role as spoiled teen Cher Horowitz. “We had so much fun,” said Dash. “[Heckerling] had such a clear vision and she was able to translate it to us perfectly.”

“It was such a magical experience,” said Donovan (Amber). “That was my first movie. So to have such an extraordinary group of people, and to have everybody be young, and have so much fun, it was amazing.” Notably absent from the reunion was co-star Brittany Murphy (Tai) who tragically passed in 2009.

The cast sat down with ABC reporter Rachel Smith to discuss the film’s iconic phrases and what their characters would likely be up to today. Donovan quoted her memorable line, “Ms. Stoger, my plastic surgeon doesn’t want me doing any physical activity with balls flying at my face,” as her favorite. Breckin Meyer (Travis), said “There was this one line from the movie … it always sticks in my head, when Brittany said, ‘You’re a virgin who can’t drive,’ and her accent kicks in.”

Unsurprisingly, the cast reunion has sparked rumors of a possible sequel. “I’m game to whatever Amy has in store. I think that time has passed, though,” said Silverstone of a second Clueless movie. “I don’t even know what Cher would be up to these days.”

  • Alicia Silverstone Reminisces at ‘Clueless’ Reunion

There was a Clueless reunion Tuesday and it was, like, totally awesome.

Alicia Silverstone, 37, and her Clueless costars, Stacey Dash and Elisa Donovan, were reunited Tuesday, May 6, at the Nokia Theater for an L.A. Film Festival screening of the 1995 hit comedy that defined a generation and coined expressions like “as if” and “my bad.”

Joined by creator/director Amy Heckerling, the trio took to the stage for a Q&A session as diehard fans in the audience were “going wild.”

“I am so lucky that they were all out there at the time. I saw the ‘Cryin’ video for Aerosmith and when Alicia gave the finger, I said, ‘There’s my girl,” said Heckerling, referring to Silverstone’s appearances in Aerosmith music videos prior to Clueless. “We met and I just loved her immediately.”

Silverstone, 37, told the devoted fans that playing Cher was “wonderful” and “so much fun.”

“I thought I was channeling Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball,” said Silverstone. “And obviously that wasn’t the case. But I just felt like that! Especially when I pushed [Elton] off [of me at a house party],” she continued. “Those were the things that I found lovely.”

Heckerling said 47-year-old Dash was perfect to play Cher’s BFF Dionne.

“I wanted somebody that seemed like she was royalty and she can easily be government,” said the Look Who’s Talking director.

“We had so much fun,” gushed Dash. “[Heckerling] had such a clear vision and she was able to translate it to us perfectly.”

Heckerling told the audience each day on-set was a blast.

“It was a fun group. I don’t like getting up and going to work, but in this case, I was so happy every day.”

Donovan, who played meanie Amber in the film, remembered being young and carefree.

“Just as everyone said, it was such a magical experience,” said the 43-year-old actress. “That was my first movie. So to have such an extraordinary group of people, and to have everybody be young, and have so much fun, it was amazing.”

According to a source who attended the Q&A session, “It didn’t look like any time had passed. They all gelled so well together and looked like they could have stepped right back into those roles.”

Needless to say, the question of a possible sequel came up during the Q&A.

‘I’m game to whatever [director Amy Heckerling] has in store,’ said Silverstone. ‘I think that time has passed, though. I don’t even know what Cher would be up to these days.”

  • Iggy Azalea Just Gave Us A “Clueless” Homage

Iggy Azalea knows how to make the best of a good pun, something I’m sure Cher Horowitz would appreciate. Her wit, charm, and ability to bring us a catchy hook is on full display in her new video, but that’s all second to the amazing attention to detail with a glorious homage to “Clueless”, complete with the school the movie was filmed in and outfits that any Betty would appreciate.

The video for “Fancy” also features British star Charli XCX and gives us recreations of some of the most famous scenes in the film, including the infamous freeway debacle and the whole “balls flying at my nose” bit. It’s a wonderful throwback to a classic film, and the good news is, the song is pretty great too.

The Australian songstress is set to release her first full-length album–appropriately titled “The New Classic”–next month, and says she hopes the real Cher Horowitz will be pleased with the video.

“We did the highway scene and we shot down the highway. We got a crazy grandma and trucks, and it was a lot of fun. We attempted to arrange a cameo from Silverstone, but wasn’t able to pull it off in time. Hopefully Alicia thinks that I did it justice,” she said.
