  • Leah Still: Dad Devon Still Brings ‘Beat Up Cancer’ Daughter Her ESPY Award

Leah Still is the precious daughter of Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still, who is known for her perseverance in the fight to “beat up cancer,” as she and her dad like to say. Devon Still accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night on his and Leah Still’s behalf, and he brought the award home to Leah.

The award is actually inscribed with both Devon and Leah Still’s names, but Devon insists it belongs solely to her daughter, for her determination in “beating up cancer.”

He shared a picture of Leah Still holding the ESPY via Instagram.

“This espy might have both of our names on it but this is Leah’s trophy! Like I said last night, what I do is easy, she has the hard job. Like a true fighter she showed true perseverance throughout her battle with cancer and I couldn’t be any prouder. #leahstrong,” he captioned the shot.

Leah Still was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer last year. Devon took a hiatus from football to stay by her side.

“She’s fighting for her life. Sports is not more important than me being there while my daughter is fighting for her life,” he said at the time.

Still gave an emotional speech at the ESPYs on Wednesday in honor of his little girl. His speech was as emotional and impactful as that of Caitlyn Jenner, who received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

The ESPYs tugged at everyone’s heartstrings by awarding both Devon and Leah Still with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award earlier this week.

One look at Leah Still holding that trophy, and all involved know they definitely made the right decision.

  • Leah Still, the 4-Year-Old Daughter of Cincinnati Bengals’ Devon Still, Brings Inspiration in Her Fight Against Cancer

Leah Still, the four-year-old daughter of Cincinnati Bengals‘ Devon Still, who is battling cancer, brought a ray of hope to the Cincinnati-Cleveland game Thursday night, despite the defeat her daddy’s team suffered.

Before the game, Devon shared about what it meant to have his daughter on hand for her first NFL game.

“Having her finally have the chance to come out here and feeling good health-wise… is going to be a great feeling,” Still told Cincinnati’s 9 On Your Side Thursday afternoon before the game.

“I’ve learned to keep my emotions intact as time has gone on — as everything has happened with my daughter. I know everything is going to be pretty emotional.”

Fans on both sides of Ohio were united in cheering on the little girl with the big heart. As Devon warmed up, cameras caught the twosome exchanging sweet waves with each other.

“It just brought a smile to my face,” Devon told the NFL Network following game.

Little Leah has been undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia since June, so her homecoming was extra sweet.

“I always look forward to those feelings whether I’m traveling back to Philadelphia or she’s coming out here,” Still said Thursday. “Just to see her running to my arms is always a great feeling.”

Leah wasn’t just there to watch her dad play football. The Bengals decided to sell Devon’s No. 75 jerseys for $100, with proceeds going to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for pediatric cancer research. They ended up selling 14,945 jerseys for a total of $1.3 million. Leah was there to accept the check on behalf of other children like her who are afflicted with pediatric cancer.

“Today is going to be a bunch of good emotions just knowing that my daughter is there and that the check presentation is because of her,” Still said.

Dressed in the uniform of her beloved Ben-Gals cheerleaders, which they had specially made for her complete with her dad’s No. 75 in glitter on the front, Leah stood next to another hometown hero, Lauren Hill, who is dying of brain cancer and played her first and last college basketball game on Sunday.

Devon said seeing his daughter standing alongside Hill was probably the highlight of the evening.

“I can tell by the she was smiling on the jumbotron that she had a lot of fun up there. I’m pretty sure she’s going to tell me all about her day meeting the cheerleaders and getting to be in the press box,” Devon said.

Devon said he’s proud of his girl. Surely Cleveland joins all of Cincinnati in being proud of her, as well.

“These past couple days made her day. You have no idea. I haven’t seen my daughter smile this much in a long time. I do appreciate everyone chipping in to help put a smile on her face,” he said. “She loves the camera. She thinks she’s a movie star.”

  • Lauren Hill, College Basketball Player Dying of Terminal Brain Cancer, Set to Play ‘One Last Game’

Lauren Hill, a college basketball player diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, is set to play in “one last game”.

Tickets sold out in 30 minutes for the game scheduled to be played at Xavier University’s Cintas Center on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 2.

Diagnosed with pediatric cancer, Hill has an aggressive brain tumor that is quickly taking her life.

When she signed on to play basketball with Mount Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio, she didn’t know about the cancer.

With doctor’s fearing she may not even live until December, her coaches petitioned the NCAA to move the first game of the season to an earlier date so that Hill could play. The NCAA granted the request and the game was moved to the larger Cintas Center to accommodate the larger than expected crowd.

The afternoon, which is likely to be memorable for so many and on so many levels, is becoming more than just an average college basketball game.

Brooke Desserich, founder of The Cure Starts Now, a charity that focuses on trying to find a cure for the most aggressive cancers in an effort to cure all cancer, is organizing congruent events on the afternoon of the game.

“Not just the basketball game, but a few presentations that are going to happen during halftime. I’ve been sworn to secrecy about what’s going to happen, but everyone really wants to show their support, and I’m sure that it’s going to be an incredibly inspiring game,” Desserich said.

Proceeds from the sold-out game will go to The Cure Starts Now.

As Hill practices for the big game, the young player is finding support from so many.

Cincinnati Bengal Devon Still, whose daughter, Leah, is also battling cancer, stopped by practice and surprised Hill on Tuesday morning.

In Hill’s native Greendale, Indiana, commissioners and the mayor declared Nov. 2 as Lauren Hill Day.

“It’s just a great opportunity to spread awareness, and I’m really happy to be making a difference. A much bigger difference than I thought I could have ever made. That’s why you have to never give up and keep trying and keep chasing your dreams,” Hill said after the proclamation was made on Tuesday evening.

Despite all of the emotions that Hill must be experiencing, she is consumed by one.

“Excitement to step out on that floor and be wearing that jersey and those shoes and that uniform and hearing the crowd and feeling the floor vibrate and the rumble in your chest when the roar comes. I’m just excited for it. Beyond excited,” she said.

  • AJ McCarron Asked to Rest Arm; No Preseason Action

Last year, it looked as if AJ McCarron was poised to lead the University of Alabama’s football team to its third straight BCS National Championship. However, thanks to perhaps one of the most amazing college football plays of all time of all time, Alabama’s hopes were crushed with no time left on the clock in the SEC West Division Championship game. Alabama’s woes would continue when they were thumped by Oklahoma in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. Despite losing back-to-back games to finish his career, though, McCarron was still determined to become an elite quarterback in the NFL.

McCarron’s road started when he was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2014 draft. Since that time, however, the bad luck has continued for McCarron.

Tuesday afternoon, McCarron shared with reporters the reason why he has not participated in any of Cincinnati’s practices in the off-season and also why we should not expect to see him in any preseason games. McCarron personally feels fine and ready to go, but his coaches feel otherwise.

“Mr. Brown and Coach Lewis just want to give me a lot of rest. I’m just doing what they say,” stated McCarron.

Accepting his role on the sidelines will be hard for McCarron, who was the starting quarterback for Alabama his last three seasons and won back-to-back national championships his sophomore and junior years.

It was perhaps all of this playing time which landed McCarron in his current predicament, however: “It was probably a number of things. If you’ve thrown your whole life, you’re going to eventually have a sore arm at some point… I always play through injury. That’s what I wanted to do. I was out there with my friends and teammates, the team needed me and I wasn’t going to come out. It probably wasn’t the best for (the shoulder). That’s just what I wanted to do. Nobody made me go out there.”

When McCarron reported to the Bengals camp in May, he informed the team of tightness in his shoulder. This tightness caused the former Alabama quarterback to miss the beginning of Bengals organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. It also led to McCarron being placed on the active non-football injury list.

McCarron was able to practice during the spring practice session, but has not seen any time on the practice field since mid-June. Instead, McCarron has spent time in a separate field throwing with head team trainer Nick Cosgray. McCarron’s routine starts with him throwing passes of about 7 yards, with the distance stretching ten more yards with each complete series of passes. At the moment, McCarron is throwing passes of 55 to 65 yards with no issues, only adding to the frustration of not competing:

The frustrating part is because you’re a competitor and you want to compete. But other than that, again, it’s Mr. Brown and Coach Lewis’ call. Whatever they tell me to do, I’m just trying to do it to the best of my ability and then show them that I’ll do whatever. When my time comes, my time comes.

Cincinnati will start the preseason in Kansas City against the Chiefs tomorrow. Starting quarterback Andy Dalton, who just signed a massive deal with the Bengals, will have one to two series under center before passing the reins to current backup quarterback Jason Campbell.

  • Green Bay Packers Finally Sell Out, Avoid Blackout

Football fans in Green Bay and Indianapolis can rest easy. You will be able to watch your football team on television this weekend.

It’s hard to believe that Sunday’s Green Bay Packer’s game against the San Francisco 49ers was not sold out as of Thursday night. In fact, three of the four Wild Card weekend NFL games still had seats available. The only game completely sold out was the Eagles/Saints game in Philadelphia. Frigid weather conditions and the comforts of home kept fans from buying round one tickets for the Colts/Chiefs game in Indy (they actually can’t blame the weather since they play indoors) and the Bengals/Chargers game in Cincinnati.

According to a very old arcane NFL rule that was established to make sure that football stadiums sold tickets, if a game was not sold out 72 hours before kickoff, local television markets would be required to blackout the game. The FCC fought that rule yesterday when Hurricane Hercules dumped snow throughout several areas of the country and an expected extreme cold front made even the most diehard fans reconsider taking a trip to the stadium.

Fans were given an extra day to snatch up remaining tickets to avoid blackout. Colt’s Corporate Sponsor, Meijer, took care of the game in Indianapolis by buying up the remaining 1,200 seats for Saturday afternoon’s matchup. In an act of goodwill, the company has donated the seats to the Indiana National Guard, Wish for Our Heroes. Meanwhile, the Packers organization sold off their remaining tickets to various corporate partners.

The word is still out for Cincy fans who have until 4 pm ET today to sell off their remaining tickets and avoid a blackout. Corporate sponsor Kroger has reportedly bought a chunk of tickets that they intend to donate to families of the military.

Tell us what you think of the NFL blackout rule. Is it time to make a change?

  • Terrence Garvin Fined For Hit On Bengals Punter

Does everyone remember that terrifying hit that the punter for the Bengals suffered on Sunday? Terrence Garvin delivered a brutal hit to Kevin Huber, the Bengals’ punter, and as a result, he is receiving a hefty fine from the NFL, a total of $25,000.

The hit that Terrence Garvin delivered to Kevin Huber of the Bengals resulted in very serious injures including a broken jaw, and he will note be returning to the field this season.

As an athlete of any type, it had to be hard to witness the play that left Huber in such a condition, as well as one of the most vicious scenes witnessed by fans on television.

Huber suffered a broken jaw on the hit from Garvin, in addition to a cracked vertebrae. It was also a play which resulted in a 67-yard touchdown return from Antonio Brown, and the hit was not considered a penalty during the game.

Upon further review, Dean Blandino, the head of officials, said that the hit was illegal, and that he should have been handed a personal foul penalty.

When he left game, the Bengals’ punter had a bloody face, and due to the seriousness of his injury, he will be immediately placed on Cincinnati IR list. The video and story of the Bengals punter went viral immediately, and people have continued to talk about it.

For those that did not get to see the brutal hit yet, take a look.

    (image)

As all players tend to do when they are fined for hits such as this one, Terrence Garvin pleads his innocence when saying “”I wasn’t out there trying to be vicious. When you’re in the game you’re really just trying to make a play and help your team out.”

The brutal hits that have been delivered from defensive players have gotten a bit out of hand this year, and Terrence Garvin is just the latest one to receive such a punishment. Several other players including Ndamukong Suh of the Lions, who is known as one of the most aggressive players in the league, continue to rack up fines in a league that is getting to be more dangerous every year.

Both Terrence Garvin and the Pittsburgh Steelers expected the fine to be issued. However, Garvin is planning to appeal it, and meant no harm to Huber when he leveled him on the play.

  • Bengals Punter Fractures Jaw During Sunday’s Game [Video]

In one of the ugliest plays most people have been witness to as sports fans, the Bengals punter was severely injured after being hit during a punt.

The game last night between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers became witness to an awful looking play, in an incident when Kevin Huber suffered a broken jaw and cracked vertebrae.

Kevin Huber, the punter for the Cincinnati Bengals, had his punt blocked, and later in the play was leveled by Terence Garvin of the Steelers, causing him to leave the game.

Garvin’s helment hit Huber in the chin, and while there was no flag thrown during the play, it is likely that a hit such as this one will get him fined.

The injury came late on a 67-yard return of a punt by the Steelers’ Antonio Brown. The play eventually resulted in a touchdown for Brown, and the Steelers went on to win the game with a final score of 30-20.

When he left game, the Bengals’ punter had a bloody face, and due to the seriousness of his injury, he will be immediately placed on Cincinnati IR list. Huber’s jaw was wired shut after the game, and during kicks, he will be replaced by Andy Dalton as the holder.

    (image)

Upon seeing his teammate down on the ground, kicker Mike Nugent said “Seeing the way he was laying down there you are automatically thinking the worst.” It has become the worst, as the Bengals’ punter will be forced to sit out for the rest of the season, and miss the final two games.

Kevin Huber will be replaced by Nugent as the new Bengals punter. Huber played less than a quarter during their loss, and experienced a painful night on the field, literally. The Bengals were already down 14-0 when Huber attempted the punt that forced him to leave the game.

He remained on the ground for several minutes, and was finally able to walk to the locker room on his own, although he was not in good shape and was very bloody. The veteran Bengals punter had been in the league for five years, and certainly never experienced a hit like that before.

Kevin J. Huber previously played for the University of Cincinnati, and was a two-time All-American. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Bengals, after being regarded as being one of the top punter prospects that year.

Huber takes to Twitter to acknowledge the ‘get well’ sentiments from his fans:

No word yet if Huber will be missing any additional games.

  • Baltimore Ravens Outlast Bengals, Win In OT

In a tough battle between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Ravens were finally able to pull away in overtime. The Ravens led for much of the game, in a big surprise to almost any football fan watching the game. After being up 17-0 at the half, the Bengals were able to tie it up, forcing the game into overtime, where they won with a final score of 20-17.

After the game eventually went into overtime, the Ravens were finally able to pull away, and get a much needed win against their division rivals. The Baltimore Ravens are clearly not the team that they were last year, and are currently trying to improve on a record that was only 3-5 coming into the game against the Bengals.

The Ravens were lucky to win this one, after being on a 3-game skid. They won in a less than stellar fashion, only putting up 189 yards of total offense, in addition to 3 turnovers. They have struggled throughout this season, due to the numerous injuries to players, as well as losing a couple to trades and retirement.

Even in the first week of the season as they attempted to return with a big statement as the defending Super Bowl Champs, they struggled, and lost another player to injury with Jacoby Jones.

Although this is the first win for the Ravens since October 6, they are only a game behind the Bengals in the loss column in the AFC North, and are lucky to be in such a position, with the Browns and Steelers struggling so much this year.

The Baltimore Ravens were stuck in a difficult situation after they led for the entire game, and let the Bengals comeback, putting the game in overtime. While the hopes of many teams would have been lost at that point, the Super Bowl champs defending their honor, and marched down the field in overtime to score a field goal to win the game. Coach John Harbaugh said of their win, The thing I’m most proud of is the heart of our guys. They showed the heart of champions. Where this will lead us, we’ll find out.”

Whether this win is enough to help the Baltimore Ravens reach the post-season is still to be determined, but it certainly helps and puts them in a much better spot than if they were to be 3-6, and tied with the Steelers.

  • Vikings Wide Receiver Jerome Simpson Arrested on DWI Charge

Jerome Simpson, wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

It all started when a Minnesota State Patrol trooper responded to a report of a stalled vehicle on Interstate 394 heading west out of downtown Minneapolis. When the trooper arrived, Simpson got out of the stalled red Dodge Charger. The trooper observed that Simpson’s speech was slurred and his eyes were watery.

Simpson said he’d been at the Pour House, a popular downtown Minneapolis bar, and despite his claims not to have been drinking, the trooper administered a field sobriety test. Obviously the test didn’t go so well for Simpson, because he was arrested and later booked at the Hennepin County jail where he refused to take a breath test.

He was released Saturday afternoon on $12,000 bond.

The Vikings issued a bare-bones statement regarding the incident: “The Vikings are aware of the matter involving Jerome Simpson. We are continuing to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time.”

This isn’t the first time Simpson has had a run-in with the law. In fact, he’s currently serving out three years of probation from an incident that occurred in September, 2011. At the time, Simpson was playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and living in a Kentucky suburb. A special task force tracked a 2-1/2 pound package of marijuana from a Sacramento, California mail sorting facility to Simpson’s townhome.

Simpson was a little more forthcoming during that incident. He allowed police to search the premises. They found another six pounds of marijuana and empty parcels, scales, and packaging materials. According to Tommy LaNier, head of the National Marijuana Initiative, the house appeared to be “set up as a potential distribution network.”

The NFL responded by suspending Simpson for three games in accordance with their substance abuse policy. The suspension came immediately after Simpson had signed on for a year with the Vikings. At the time, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman stood by his new wide receiver:

“We did a lot of research. I think you guys know us well enough now that we have had success with guys with character issues that have come into this organization and have been very productive, not only on the field but as citizens.”

Spielman was careful not to condone Simpson’s actions, though: “Every person we talked to stood by the kid’s character. Not standing by the mistake he made, but by what this kid’s character is …”

As far as his performance on the field goes, Simpson didn’t let the Vikings down. Though he has yet to score a touchdown, he leads the team with 491 yards receiving this season.

Some Vikings fans are hoping that the fall-out from Simpson’s weekend arrest will result in increased playing time for first round draft pick Cordarrelle Patterson.

  • Geno Atkins: Season Ending NFL Injury

Geno Atkins has become the latest victim to fall to injury in the NFL. In a season that seems to be filled with injuries like no other in recent years, the defensive tackle, went down with an injury in their game on Sunday night. It has since been discovered that his injury is a torn ACL, keeping him out for the remainder of the season.

The news of Atkins being out will be a big blow to the Bengals defensive line, and a team that was 6-2 going into the game on Thursday, which they lost 22-20 in overtime on a safety from Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake.

The Cincinnati Bengals were one of the top teams in the league, but with a 6-3 record and the loss of Geno Atkins, their future is uncertain, and will certainly need some help along the way.

Atkins is a defensive tackle who has been in the league for four years, and has made it to the Pro Bowl. While they are slipping up with a loss and an injury to a top defender, they are lucky to be in a division that is struggling this year, and are the only team to have a record above .500.

The injury to Geno Atkins is certainly a big loss to the team, especially after already losing four players to injury just four days before in their win against the New York Jets. He was initially ruled out with a knee injury, after his leg appeared to roll up underneath one of his teammates and a Dolphins ball carrier who was being tackled at the end of a 3-yard run.

He was forced to roll over onto his side and take off his helmet, looking for help as soon as the play was over. He will be missed by his teammates and especially those on the line with him. Nose tackle Domata Peko said of his teammate, “I think all of us are going to have to get better missing big Geno. He’s a lot to the defense and a big part of this team.”

Geno Atkins even took to twitter to thank everyone for the support, and show his excitement for returning next year.

In their next two games following Geno Atkins’ departure, the Cincinnati Bengals will face off against two other teams in their division. They play against the Ravens and Browns, which will be important games to win if they want to stay at the top of the division.

  • Miami Dolphins Defeat Bengals In Overtime

Miami Dolphins Defeat Bengals In Overtime

In this week’s Thursday night game, the Miami Dolphins faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals, in a showdown that ended up going into overtime. The Dolphins were able to pull away with a victory in the end, scoring on a game-winning safety. The safety gave them the win with a final score of 22-20.

The Miami Dolphins started the season off well, with a 3-0 start, only to drop their next 4 games. At 3-4, their season was already starting to look dreadful, but this game might have saved their season. The Bengals are at the top of their division, and were certainly the favorites to win the game last night, at 6-2 going into the game. While the Dolphins were on a 4 game losing streak, the Bengals had won their previous 4 games.

The game concluded with a sack from defensive end Cameron Wake, who delivered the safety to Andy Dalton with 6:38 left in overtime. Dalton retreated to the goal line on 3rd-and-10, and was tackled by Wake for only the third safety in overtime in the history of the NFL.

After his strong statement of a sack to end the game, Wake of the Miami Dolphins said “You just have to do whatever you can to get to the quarterback. It couldn’t have come at a better time. How much better could it have been than to have a d-lineman seal the deal?” Dalton is obviously embarrassed to end the game on that note, and mentioned that he did not see him coming, and also thought that he was out of the end-zone.

The defense of the Dolphins really stepped up in this game, holding the Bengals to only 20 points, and getting multiple scores from the defense. Before the safety to end the game, the Dolphins also scored on an interception return for a TD in the third quarter. Their cornerback Brent Grimes caught a pass from quarterback Andy Dalton and was able to return the ball 94 yards, giving them a 17-3 lead.

This score gave Grimes his first touchdown, and was also the fourth-longest interception return in the history of the Miami Dolphins franchise.

At a record of 4-4, the Miami Dolphins will go into next week hoping to get another win, and be able to turn their season around. It should not be too hard to do so, since their next game is against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have not won a game all season.

  • Cincinnati Bengals Fans React To Katy Perry’s “Roar”

The Cincinnati Bengals and a large number of their fans reacted strongly over social media outlets after Perry’s hit song “Roar” was used to introduce the team. The person responsible for adding this song to their introduction must have just linked the tigers with the sound they make and thinking that her song would work well. Unfortunately, many fans did not feel the same way, possibly because of the singer or just the type of song that it is.

Perry’s song is about empowerment and standing up for one’s self, but as it is played, it did not work as a pump up song. The team had announced that the song would be their pregame, in-game and post-game song at Paul Brown Stadium, leading their fans to go crazy, according to E Online. The crowds started screaming a roar of their own loud enough to drawn out Perry’s voice that they did not want to hear. The Bengals have since been forced to reevaluate when they can play the song, but do not want to completely eliminate it from the rotation.

Throughout the course of every football game, many songs are played over the speakers, and maybe this will soon became just one of the many. Bengals officials released a statement on Friday, annoucning that they would not feature the song as prominently anymore. The drama all started when they played song during their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night last week. Fans took to twitter to complain before the game was even over. The Washington Post mentions that fans reacting this way is a win for tradition, but it also is proof of a national problem. Most arenas play the rock music that has been played for several years such as Guns N Roses, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and more, because it is what fans are used to. When a song by someone like Katy Perry comes over the loudspeakers fans are going to be extremely surprised and the recent backlash is certainly expected.

Several fans continued to share their opinions. One fan in particular, Jason Patrick said “You expect to hear certain things at a football game, soo we hear this and we’re saying, ‘Uh, is this our new theme song?” It is easy to see where he is coming since the sport of football itself is largely based off of tradition, and to mess with that will certainly gain the attention of many fans. He said it was a running joke of the night and other people mentioned Steelers fans laughing at them.

Could this be a way to let the fans pick the song? Bengals fans: try it out.

A spokesman for the team has said that a new song was selected for this Sunday’s game against the Packers, but has not revealed what it will be yet says ESPN. Hopefully it will be something that will receive positive feedback this time.

Just in case you would like to hear the song that stirred up all the madness…

  • Nick Lachey Kicked Out Of Chargers Stadium

Nick Lachey, former singer for 98 Degrees and new father, tweeted over the weekend that he’d been kicked out of a football game…and couldn’t be happier.

The one-time husband of Jessica Simpson is a huge Cincinnati Bengals fan and let everyone know it when he attended a game between the team and the San Diego Chargers, trash-talking the opponents with fervor. In fact, he was such a super-fan that the stadium’s security team booted him out.

Lachey took to Twitter to talk about his experience in San Diego, but didn’t let up on the trash talk:

  • Chad Johnson Cut From Miami Dolphins After Domestic Violence Arrest

Chad Johnson is well-known for his role as wide receiver when he played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2001 to 2010. Later on, he made a name for himself on Dancing with the Stars. He’s currently filming a new reality TV show with his wife called Ev and Ocho. It’s that reality TV show that may be cause for his latest thrust into the spotlight.

Johnson was arrested Saturday night on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. He reportedly head-butted his wife, Evelyn Lozada, in the forehead. The police report says that the head-butt was caused by an argument the two got in after his wife found a receipt for condoms in Johnson’s car. The head-butt was severe enough to warrant a trip to the hospital for Lozada.

Johnson claims no wrong doing and says that he and his wife just accidentally bumped heads. That may be the reason why the police let Johnson off with a small domestic violence misdemeanor charge. The charge would have been more severe if there was any evidence of more violence beyond a head-butt.

Regardless, Johnson was taken to the Broward County jail where his bond was set at $2,500. He was released Sunday afternoon. The arrest led to Johnson being cut from the Miami Dolphins, a team he had just signed with in June of this year.
