Personalized gifts are popular around the holidays, but unfortunately, they can also be expensive. If you have children, teenagers, coworkers or other people who are hard to buy for on your Christmas list, a personalized gift could be a great idea. If you are worried that such a gift won’t fit in your budget, relax and try one of these affordable options.

  • Gift Cards: Creative Ways To Give Them For Christmas

Some people try really hard to find the perfect gifts for friends and family members, but some people are just picky and hard to buy for.

If you have one or more people on your Christmas list like this, the best thing to buy them may just be a gift card.

Gift cards might not be the most creative or personal gifts to give, but they are a great option when you are in a hurry or just can’t think of the right gift.

If you want to give gift cards as a gift this holiday, but want to get a little creative, try one of these fun ways of giving them.

    Wrap Them
If you want to surprise a child, teenager or anyone with a little patience and a sense of humor, wrap the gift card over and over again to make it hard to find. Put the card in an envelope and then in a very small box. Place the small box in a box that is a little larger and repeat until you have several boxes inside a very large one. Wrap the last box and watch when the recipient has to go through several boxes to find their tiny gift card.

    Add To A Gift
If you still feel the need to give someone a gift and a gift card, be creative and package the gifts together. Buy a simple gift, such as a book, a box of candy or a pair of socks or mittens. Slip the gift card in the book as a bookmark or slide it down inside the gloves and socks. Make sure you tell the recipient to look for the gift card so they don’t accidentally drop it or throw it away.

    Hide It
Gift cards are small and easy to hide, and instead of just handing one over this Christmas, you can hide it in the tree or somewhere in your house and let them find it with a fun holiday scavenger hunt. Kids and adults alike will enjoy finding their gift cards this way.

Just because you are giving a gift card, doesn’t mean you can’t make it a memorable gift. Just be creative with the way you give it and you won’t have any complaints.

  • Gifts Baskets: Ideas For Everyone On Your List

When it comes to Christmas shopping there are just certain people who are harder to buy for than others. If you are unable to come up with a gift for one or more of the people on your shopping list this holiday season, consider giving them gift baskets. Gift baskets can be made in a variety of themes and even gift givers on the tightest of budgets can tweak them to be more affordable. Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

    Teachers
If you are thinking about buying your child’s teacher a gift before winter break but don’t know him or her well enough to guess what they might like, get them a gift basket full of things they can use in the classroom. Shop at your local dollar store for glue, crayons, pens, pencils, rulers, tissues and antibacterial lotion. If you want to add a little something extra, throw in a gift card to a local restaurant or department store,

    Kids and Teens
If you are trying to find something for the kids and teens on your list that no longer play with toys or want clothing, consider making an overnight or sleepover themed gift basket. Fill the basket with microwave popcorn, boxes of candy, DVD’s, flashlights, and soda. If you want to make it a deluxe basket add a few inexpensive throw blankets and small board games.

    Coworkers
Finding the right gift for a work friend or office buddy can be difficult. If you don’t want to buy them office supplies that will remind them of work, make them gift baskets that will distract them from it. Add items such as soft socks or slippers, lotion, facial peels, aromatherapy candles, wine and boxed chocolates to the basket. If you are feeling generous, add a gift certificate to a local spa, salon or massage parlor.

    Family
Family members can be some of the hardest people to shop for, even though you know most of them well. Make them gift baskets that contain a few of their favorite things. Add small bottles of perfume or cologne, candles, snacks and accessories such as mittens or scarves. You can choose a theme that matches each person’s personality or just keep it random.

Gift baskets are a great way to keep gift giving affordable but fun. You can create them for Christmas or any special occasion. What are some of your favorite gift basket ideas?
