  • Christina Ricci: “E!” Host Calls Son by Her Dog’s Name at SAG Awards

Christina Ricci graced the red carpet at the SAG Awards this past weekend. She was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for Lifetime’s The Lizzie Borden Chronicles.

While walking the red carpet and chatting with E! host Brad Goreski, Ricci witnessed the host making a big mistake with regard to her son’s name.

It was almost a year and a half ago that Christina Ricci and hubby James Heerdegan welcomed a baby boy they named Freddie. They also have a dog named Karen.

Here’s how the red carpet faux pas played itself out.

“How’s your baby boy?” Goreski asked Christina Ricci.

    “Amazing!” she replied.

Goreski then asked how Ricci’s dog Karen was adjusting to having a baby in the house.

“There’s the two of them. Freddie and Karen are best friends,” revealing her son’s name for the first time to the media.

“Freddie and Karen are Christina’s dogs,” Goreski said, speaking into the camera.

“No, no. Freddie is my baby. Karen is my dog,” Christina Ricci clarified.

“They’re so cute!” Goreski added, clearly not knowing what else he could possibly say.

It’s likely Brad Goreski was much more upset about the gaffe than Christina Ricci was.

Even though Christina Ricci lost out on her SAG Award to Queen Latifah, for her role in Bessie, she was beyond excited with the nomination alone.

  • Christina Ricci Channels Morticia Addams in Photoshopped Pic–Not

Christina Ricci made headlines this week when fans thought she dressed up as The Addams Family matriarch, Morticia Addams. The photo of Ricci in the low cut, sexy black gown went viral.

It turns out it wasn’t Christina Ricci at all–but rather a photoshopped picture of Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams.

Christina Ricci’s head was photoshopped onto Anjelica Huston’s body–and the plunging neckline was deepened to make her appear even more alluring.

Both Anjelica Huston and Christina Ricci starred in the film version of The Addams Family, based on the 1960s TV show of the same name. Ricci played Wednesday Addams in the film and its sequel, Addams Family Values.

    http://thecreaturesenchantment.tumblr.com/post/129400374326/wednesday-addams-as-her-mother-morticia-addams

Although Christina Ricci enjoyed her time as a child star in The Addams Family, she believes the role stood in her way when she sought other roles in later years.

“I think that I’ve been very lucky that none of these images or impressions I’ve left on people have been bad ones really,” she said about a year ago during an interview with Parade magazine. “People love Wednesday, but I would love that character too, so I’ve never really attempted to shake any of the stuff.”

“I’ve always been very lucky to have characters that people really love. I think about some people that can’t shake really bad images and I’m glad I avoided them,” she added.

Would you have realized that wasn’t really Christina Ricci dressed up as Morticia Addams if you weren’t told it was a photoshopped picture?

  • Christina Ricci Praises Marc Jacobs, Calls Him ‘Visionary’

Christina Ricci loves everything Marc Jacobs. She has known the designer for a decade, and buys many of his famous pieces. The Addams Family star praised Marc Jacobs during New York Fashion Week earlier this week, calling him a ‘visionary.’

“I’ve known him for over 10 years. He’s such a visionary,” Ricci said.

It was while seated in the front row at his Fashion Week show on Thursday–alongside Nicki Minaj and Sofia Coppola–that Christina Ricci saw even more pieces she will no doubt buy.

“I have, like, so many. A crazy amount. As soon as I was buying nice stuff, it was Marc,” she said.

So what might Christina Ricci buy to add to her wardrobe from this latest Marc Jacobs show?

Kendall Jenner strutted her stuff on the runway for Marc Jacobs showing off a pretty floral print dress, topped by anything-but-basic black with sequins. She accessorized the look with black leather gloves, tights, and booties. This is something those who have followed Christina Ricci throughout the years could likely imagine her not just wearing–but pulling off the look flawlessly.

“What I see in the street now doesn’t interest me,” Marc Jacobs told reporters backstage following his show. “I am so tired of street-style looks.”

There’s nothing street-style about Christina Ricci, and it’s plain to see that she loves anything Marc Jacobs designs. He no doubt relies in part on celebrities like Christina Ricci to not only show off his designs, but to show that they’re worth the price paid in longevity.

  • Christina Ricci Reprising Lizzie Borden Role

Christina Ricci is reprising her role as Lizzie Borden for a limited series on Lifetime. She once played Lizzie Borden on the network, alongside Clea DuVall, who played her sister–in Lizzie Borden Took An Ax. DuVall is also reprising her role. Both will appear in Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles, a fictionalized account of Borden’s life after she was acquitted of the axe murders of both her father and her stepmother.

In the new series, people begin dying rather mysteriously around Christina Ricci’s character. The deaths prompt Pinkerton detective Charlie Siringo to try proving that Lizzie Borden is responsible for the murders. Charlie Siringo will be played by Cole Hauser.

Rob Sharenow is the executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime. He says the series will take viewers down a road where they may find that dark side to Lizzie Borden they long feared existed.

“This series will take viewers further down Lizzie Borden’s dark path, revealing what many people suspected about her mysterious life,” he explained. “For more than a century, the world has been captivated by the legend of Lizzie Borden, but no one has captured her enigmatic menace as well as Christina Ricci.”

If you saw Christina Ricci in Lizzie Borden Took An Ax, then you understand exactly what Rob Sharenow means. And if you didn’t, you’re still in for a big treat as she reprises her role–even though this new series is fiction and the latter was based on fact.

Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles will air as a six-part series some time in 2015.

  • Christina Ricci To Play Lizzie Borden On New Fictional Series

Christina Ricci will step into the shoes of infamous suspected murderer Lizzie Borden, but this time around the story will be based in fiction rather than fact.

Ricci has reportedly signed on to play Borden for Lifetime in a limited series called Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles, a follow-up to the successful television movie the network aired earlier this year. While the film was based on the real-life events of Borden’s family life and trial–in which she was acquitted for the murders of her father and stepmother–the show will focus on a storyline about the suspicious deaths of several other people in her life, followed by a Pinkerton detective.

The series will be comprised of six episodes and will air sometime next year, co-starring Clea DuVall as Lizzie’s sister Emma.

“This series will take viewers further down Lizzie Borden’s dark path, revealing what many people suspected about her mysterious life,” said Lifetime executive vice president Rob Sharenow.

Ricci said that the movie was meant to come from the perspective that Borden was guilty no matter what the outcome of the trial was. The story focuses on the idea that Lizzie’s relationship with her father was dysfunctional, something that contributed heavily towards her anger at her stepmother.

“We wanted to come at it from the perspective of we know she’s guilty and this is the way she behaves afterward,” Ricci said. “One of the main theories is that the father was living for a long time with his two daughters as wives, so that was disrupted when the stepmother came in. With the amount of rage directed at her you have to wonder why. So the theory is that Lizzie hated her for replacing her role with her father, or that the stepmother came in and was happy to let the father continue and not be the savior that these girls needed.”

  • Christina Ricci Is Going To Be A Mommy!

Christina Ricci, 34, is going to be a mommy!

According to PEOPLE, Ricci and her husband James Heerdegen are expecting their first child together later this year. Her pregnancy was revealed as she and Heerdegen made their way through the Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday.

Ricci was seen wearing an oversized black shirt and black leggings, and accessorized the outfit with a brown belt that showed off her growing baby bump.

Ricci and Heerdegen, a camera technician, met on the set of ABC’s original series Pan-Am in 2011, and went public with their relationship in February 2012. However, the engagement was not confirmed until a year later in February 2013 when Ricci started showing off the diamond on her ring finger.

The couple later tied the knot during an intimate ceremony at Manhattan’s Harold Pratt House & Peterson Hall in October 2013. “I can’t wait [to call him], ‘Husband,’ because then I can really throw my weight around,” Ricci joked before her wedding. For her nuptials, Ricci wore a Givenchy Haute Couture high neck dress that was complete with beaded detailing.

In 2009, the former Now and Then actress had a brief engagement to actor Owen Benjamin. However, they later decided not to go through with their marriage and called off the engagement.

This pregnancy will make the first child for both Ricci and Heerdegen.

  • Christina Ricci Pregnant With First Child

Christina Ricci is expecting her first baby with husband James Heerdegen. A rep for the actress has confirmed the pregnancy. Her baby bump was spotted for the first time at LAX on Friday as she and her hubby arrived there. Ricci sported leggings, along with an oversized tunic she accented with a belt that highlighted her baby bump.

The couple announced their engagement in February of 2013 and got married the following October, with Ricci stunning on her wedding day in a Givenchy Haute Couture high neck dress with beaded detail. The intimate ceremony took place at Harold Pratt House & Peterson Hallon on the Upper East Side of New York City.

Christina Ricci and James Heerdegen met on the set of Pan Am back in 2011 where he worked as a camera dolly grip. She starred in the show that ran from 2011 to 2012. She was briefly engaged back in 2009 to actor Owen Benjamin.

Ricci’s initial claim to fame was as a child actor back in 1991 as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and again in 1993 in Addams Family Values. In 1995 she starred in Casper. It was in 1997 that Christina Ricci transitioned into more adult-type film roles, starring in The Ice Storm. She went on to star in several more films over the years including Sleepy Hollow, Monster, and Penelope. In 2006 she received an Emmy Award nomination for her role in Grey’s Anatomy, on which she played a paramedic.

Wednesday Addams fans might find it a little hard to believe that Christina Ricci is expecting a baby.

Neither Christina Ricci nor James Heerdegen has made an official comment yet regarding her pregnancy, therefore no one really has any clue as to when their baby might be due. From the looks of photos taken at LAX, the actress looks to be several months along.

Congratulations to both Christina and James on the impending birth of their first child. Having a baby is the most exciting time in a couple’s life. That life as they’ve known it thus far is about to see some drastic changes, however. Just ask anyone who has ever had a baby.

  • ‘Lizzie Borden’ Star Christina Ricci, EP Judith Verno Offer Insight About The Film

Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-one.”

Although the skipping-rope rhyme may sound relatively playful when heard by children at play, its lyrics have a deep, dark origin that traces back to the 1800s.

Lizzie Borden isn’t just some fictitious character of old folklore being brought to life in a film adaptation. She was actually a real person who was accused of committing one of the most gruesome crimes in history.

The new Lifetime film Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, starring Sleepy Hollow actress Christina Ricci, chronicles the timeline of the heinous crime, delving deep into the historical accounts that led up to the infamous “forty whacks.” However, it will also reveal exactly what happened after that.

According to the New York Post, the film comes across as “part horror film/part court procedural” as Ricci’s portrayal of Borden is a cross between sociopathic and psychotic.

The film’s executive producer Judith Verno explained why Ricci’s role was delineated to depict a “thoroughly guilty” Borden. Verno shared that after extensive review of the original police documentation and court transcripts, one could see exactly how Borden should have been found guilty. So, the film will add a visual to some of the details that have never been revealed.

“We added a line which is right out of the real transcript: ‘It’s very hard to imagine that if you found your father dead, on the couch, that you would remain in the house.’ To me, the natural instinct would be to leave the house, because the killer’s probably there,” Verno says. “That she sat down and remained so calm was very telling.”(image)

Ricci also weighed in revealing one aspect in particular that piqued her interest with the portrayal of Borden. “What I thought was interesting about playing this part,” says Ricci, “was the question of, ‘How does a person behave once they’re accused of this in trying to convince everyone they’re innocent?’

She also shared some inside details about the ‘exhausting’ experience of whacking bodies for the film, reports Yahoo! News. “My arms got tired because the axe was heavy. You film scenes from a million different angles, and for every take I did 12 chops with the axe. My arms were ripped for about two days after. I didn’t like getting fake blood in my hair though.”

    (image)

On August 4, 1892, Borden allegedly killed both her father and stepmother by bludgeoning them with an ax. Her father Andrew Borden was struck 10 or 11 times with what was described as a hatchet-like weapon. It has also been stated that her father’s face was completely mutilated. Her stepmother Abby Borden was fatally struck 19 times in the head, and was left with a crushed skull.

On June 20, 1893, after only an hour and a half of deliberation, Lizzie Borden was acquitted. Her acquittal went down in history, often compared to the high-profile trials of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, and OJ Simpson.

The world premiere of Lizzie Borden Took an Ax is scheduled to air Saturday, Jan. 25 at 8/7C on Lifetime.

  • #Riccing Is Probably Going to Get Someone Killed, Or at the Very Least Stuck Somewhere

Say what you want about Tebowing, but at least it never involved shoving yourself in a clothes dryer.

It looks like there’s a new selfie trend brewing thanks to actress Christina Ricci and her tiny frame. It’s called #Riccing, and it all started when Ricci took to Twitter to show that “being small does have its benefits.”

And so, #Riccing is born. All you have to do is squeeze yourself into a small space – it’s like a less athletic, more claustrophobic planking.

    It’s catching on –

Even celebrities are getting into it:

    Oh, Twitter.

  • Christina Ricci: Drawn to Ax-Swinging Lizzie Borden

Christina Ricci, 33, is a beautiful girl, but her connection to infamous, ax-swinging murderer Lizzie Borden is questionable.

The actress, who stars in the title role in the Lifetime film Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, says she is drawn to people who have issues.

“I’m interested in people who are troubled. Their behavior comes from their neuroses. I loved the idea of living inside someone so villainous and trying to express the person everyone can relate to,” Ricci said.

The movie is based on the real life story of Lizzie Borden who was acquitted of the murders of her father and stepmother, Andrew and Abby Borden, during a trial in 1893. The trial also inspired the creepy children’s rhyme, “Lizzy Borden took an ax and gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, gave her father 41.”

“[Lizzie Borden] was guilty, but the jury couldn’t see their way to convict her. Very little is known about what went on in the family, but obviously she was a very troubled girl. You don’t kill your parents if you’re happy,” she said.

The pint-sized Ricci said she surprised the cast and crew with her strength as she swung her ax during filming.

“I’m surprising strong. Everyone was impressed with my ax-swinging skills — until I swung the ax backwards, and it was so big and heavy that I hit myself on the back of my spine. It made quite a horrendous sound. I didn’t know my spine would sound hollow if you hit it with a big chunk of metal,” she said.

The movie will air on Lifetime on Jan. 25.

The poster shows Ricci on a large staircase holding a bloody axe. She is dressed in a form fitting dress and has a disturbing smile on her face. Fans of Ricci and the Lizzie Borden story likely have some big expectations for the movie, and the poster suggests that they won’t be let down

The story of Lizzie Borden is one that has been told many times over the years. Lizzie was a Sunday school teacher who lived with her parents. One day, she came home and found both her father and stepmother dead. Although many people were questioned as suspects, many pointed the finger at Lizzie.

Nothing was taken from the home at the time of the murders and Lizzie’s whereabouts during the murders was unknown. The real murderers were never found and the murders remain a mystery to this day.

The Borden home is supposedly haunted to this day and operates as a bed and breakfast where visitors can sleep in the same home where Lizzie’s parents were murdered. The film will take viewers back to the time of the murders and show what went on during Lizzie’s trial and in her life. • Christina Ricci Wields Blood Splattered Ax In New Movie

Christina Ricci looks horrifically murderous as she wields a blood-spattered ax posturing as the infamous Lizzie Borden. The real Lizzie Borden was an American woman who was tried and acquitted in 1892 of the ax murders of her stepmother and father in Massachusetts.

The case has become folklore among Americans and although Borden was acquitted, Lifetime seems to have convicted her given the image it used for the movie poster. Speculation about Borden’s role in the crime continues even today.

The movies poster shows the 33-year-old actor carrying a horrific bloody ax with blood splattered around here long white nightgown. Lifetime’s made-for-TV movie, “Lizzie Borden Took an Ax” aires January 25th and also stars Billy Campbell and Clea DuVall.

The film storyline recounts how on a scorching, hot summer day in 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden (Christiana Ricci) returns home to find her stepmother Abby and father, Andrew violently murdered. As usually, the police mount their investigations and several people are questioned but evidence repeatedly points to Lizzie, a Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect.

She is eventually hurled to court to face murder charges but her lawyer Andrew Jennings (Campbell) mounts a spirited defense arguing that Lizzie is innocent and there is no way a woman could commit such a heinous crime of brutally murdering her family with an ax. However, this does not prevent the press and the courtroom from sensationalizing the case, forever ruining Lizzie Borden’s name.

  • Christina Ricci Poster Promises Carnage In New Flick

Christina Ricci has played a wide array of characters over the years, but her most recent project is about a subject that has aroused curiosity for over a century, and a new poster for the film has taken the web by storm.

“Lizzie Borden Took An Ax”, an upcoming Lifetime movie, tells the story of the young woman accused of murdering her family in their home in 1892 and the trial that gripped the nation at the time. The network sent out a press release this week, saying, “On a scorching, hot summer day in 1892 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden (Ricci) returns home to the house she shares with her father Andrew, stepmother Abby and sister Emma (DuVall). But, unlike any normal day, Lizzie encounters the bloody scene of her parents violently murdered. Police quickly question multiple suspects in town, but evidence keeps pointing back to the Borden’s youngest daughter Lizzie, the seemingly wholesome Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect. Lizzie’s lawyer, Andrew Jennings (Campbell), proclaims her innocence arguing that it is inconceivable a woman could commit the heinous crime of brutally murdering her family with an ax. Or is it? Lizzie is put on trial for the murders, both in the courtroom and in the press, sparking a widespread debate about her culpability. As the case rages on, the courtroom proceedings fuel an enormous amount of sensationalized stories and headlines in newspapers throughout the country, forever leaving Lizzie Borden’s name in infamy.”

The film debuts on January 25.

A representative of Ricci’s revealed the couple’s engagement in February after rumors had started to swirl around months before that.

She tied the knot with her fiance Heerdegen on Saturday, saying “I do” to one another on the Upper East Side in New York City.

The newlyweds were joined by close family friends in an intimate ceremony, choosing to not overdo the process as some celebrities like to do. NBC News mentions that following the ceremony, their guests were able to enjoy a cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and dancing.

Ricci has appeared in several films and television shows throughout her career, beginning in 1990 with the film Mermaids. Her childhood career went on to include two Addams Family films and Casper. Since then, she has been several films of almost every genre, including Monster, and The Opposite of Sex, which she received a Golden Globe nomination for.

Christina Ricci recently starred in the short-lived series Pan-Am, when she met her husband in 2011. The series aired on ABC, and Heerdegen was a dolly grip on the show. While it is a term that is not thrown around too much in Hollywood, a dolly grip operator is a dedicated technician who is trained to operate the camera dolly. He has previously worked on more than 40 film and television productions, including Baby Mama and Nurse Jackie.

In 2012, Us Weekly revealed that Christina Ricci had a new man in her life, and introduced everyone to her new man, and talked about how the couple went to a fancy spa in Puerto Rico to celebrate their new romance.

In May, the 33-year-old actress revealed her big plans for the wedding including the dress she planned to wear, the caterer, and more. She also went into detail about the type of ceremony she wanted, revealing her idea of a smaller ceremony when saying “I’m excited to be with all my friends and family, and just have a lovely night.”

Christina Ricci is very excited about being a newlywed, and has also said that she wants to have children someday with her new husband. She is clearly excited about their new life that they will have together, and in the interview with US Weekly, she also said “He’s my favorite person on Earth.”
