  • Chelsea Handler Gives Hallucinogenic Drink Ayahuasca a Try For Her Netflix Docuseries

    Chelsea Handler gave the hallucinogenic drink Ayahuasca a try for her upcoming Netflix docuseries Chelsea Does.

    Handler said she tried the controversial beverage as an educational demonstration for her docuseries which will premiere Saturday on Netflix.

    “It’s supposed to be like this spiritually awakening drug, transformative, transcendent in certain ways,” she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show earlier this week. “I want to show people what happens when you get f–ked up.”

    Ayahuasca is a controversial beverage that is considered a spiritual medicine among the indigenous people of Peru.

    In a clip from the series, Handler, 40, travels to Peru to try the drink, which is said to give users an out-of-body experience. After sipping meekly on the tea, she promptly throws up into a bucket on-camera.

    “We went down to Peru and we did it,” she told Fallon. “You vomit out of your mouth and out of … And Netflix paid for it, thank you guys.”

    Chandler told Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday that she did experience visions during her experiment.

    “I had all these beautiful imageries of my childhood and me and my sister laughing on a kayak, and all these beautiful things with me and my sister,” she said. “So [my experience] was very much about opening my mind to loving my sister, and not being so hard on her.”

    According to Us Weekly, Handler will also discuss topics like racism, marriage and Silicon Valley on the series.

    Chelsea Handler left her late night talk show, Chelsea Lately, in 2014. She is also set to host a new talk show set to premiere in May on Netflix.

    Chelsea Handler Announces January Release of “Chelsea Does”

    Chelsea Handler announced the January release of her upcoming four-part Netflix docu-series called Chelsea Does. The former Chelsea Lately star shared the first short clip advertising the show. It reportedly shows off her “serious side.”

    Chelsea Handler will deal with serious subjects in Chelsea Does. She will talk marriage, drugs, racism, and Silicon Valley.

    This docu-series marks the second part of the Netflix deal with Chelsea Handler. The first part of the deal involved the airing of her hour-long comedy show on October 10th, that was part of her “Uganda Be Kidding Me” tour. The show was taped in June.

    Chelsea Handler fans are no doubt thrilled that the comic will find her way back into their living rooms after the New Year. A specific date for the four-part series has not yet been announced.

    Chelsea Handler is continuing her productive partnership with Netflix with a new four-part documentary series called Chelsea Does.

    And Netflix has announced that it will become available in January.

    “Hey guys, it’s me, Chelsea Handler. You may remember me from my old talk show or maybe my standup. Anyway, I haven’t had a lot going on recently so I decided screw it, why not do something completely different,” says Handler in a new promo.

    “So, it’s a four-part documentary series on Netflix, and it gives me a chance to finally show you my serious side,” she continues, jokingly.

    From the promo, it looks like the four topics Chelsea will tackle will be marriage, racism, silicon valley, and drugs. Handler is also doing a talk show for Netflix, but its premiere date has yet-to-be set.

    Netflix released a teaser for Chelsea Does, a new docu-series starring Chelsea Handler. It reveals that all episodes will be available in January.

    Chelsea does will reportedly be four parts, and is not to be confused with her upcoming Netflix talk show.

    Earlier this year, her Netflix Original stand-up special Uganda Be Kidding Me debuted, and the talk show will debut next year.

    In September, Netflix announced that he new talk show will be executive produced by Bill Wolff, who served in the role on ABC’s The View.

    According to Netflix, Chelsea Does will explore the following four topics: marriage, racism, technology, and drugs.
