  • Ivanka Trump, Chelsea Clinton: Has Parents’ Race to White House Destroyed Their Friendship?

Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton became fast friends when their husbands introduced them several years ago. Recent comments on behalf of Donald Trump–barbs about Bill Clinton cheating on Hillary, to be exact–have pushed the ladies’ friendship into the media in recent days.

Have Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton dissolved their friendship because of their parents’ political campaigns?

Politico says no–not exactly, anyway. It seems Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump have put their friendship “on hold” until after the November election–assuming, of course, that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump win for their respective parties.

A source close to Chelsea Clinton tells Politico, “I don’t think she blames Ivanka,” referring to the many unsavory comments Donald Trump has made about Chelsea’s mom.

Even Ivanka Trump has distanced herself from her father.

“I’m not part of his campaign, and he’s kept me very busy working alongside my brothers and running the organization,” she said in an interview in February. “I’ll leave policy to him, but I can speak from my vantage point as a child and a colleague. He’s been an amazing parent.”

It seems the friendship between Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump is just temporarily on ice. The two have chosen not to be seen together in public for obvious reasons.

Do you expect this campaign could do irrevocable damage to this friendship, however? It’s hard to overlook many of the barbs Donald Trump throws into the ring. Will Ivanka Trump find herself defending her father to Chelsea Clinton one day?

  • Chelsea Clinton: Letter To President Makes An Appearance In Her Book

Chelsea Clinton has always seemed to be older than her years, a mature and conscientious young lady during her father’s time in the White House who would later work as a correspondent for NBC News and as a board member for two of her dad’s foundations. But even when she was five years old, Chelsea was aware of the world around her and using her voice to try and make change.

Clinton, whose new book It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going! is a primer for middle school kids, spoke recently about a certain letter that’s included in the book and the back story behind it.

The letter, written to President Reagan when Chelsea was just five, is a plea for him to cancel his trip to Germany to visit a cemetery where Nazi soldiers were interred. Clinton used The Sound Of Music as a reference, saying she thought the Nazis were bad people.

“I had sent my favorite heart and rainbow stickers along with my letter, as a gesture of good will to President Reagan so that, hopefully, he would take me seriously. I didn’t think an American president should honor a group of soldiers that included Nazis. President Reagan still went, but at least I had tried in my own small way,” Chelsea told People.

Chelsea and her mom Hillary were guest speakers at Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington D.C. recently, on hand to help celebrate the church’s 200th anniversary. While Bill was in attendance, it was the women of the family who got up to speak, with Chelsea touching on the notions of faith and family before heading home to celebrate Rosh Hashana with her husband and daughter.

“We are thinking about faith in our house right now and the ways in which we hope our daughter will find her own faith and what we can do to support her,” Chelsea Clinton said.

  • Chelsea Clinton, Ivanka Trump: Will Their Friendship Go the Way of Their Rival Parents, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump?

Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump are very close friends. The two grew close after their husbands became friends a while back. Will their rival parents, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, throw a wrench into that friendship?

    Chelsea Clinton says no.

“Friendship is always more important than politics,” the former First Daughter said in a recent interview with People magazine. “I learned that growing up, watching my parents be friends with people across the political spectrum in Arkansas.”

Keep in mind, however, that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were once friends, too. She attended his wedding to wife Melania, and he donated big bucks–tens of thousands, actually–to the Clinton Foundation. These days, the two are arch rivals.

Donald Trump has publicly called Chelsea Clinton’s mother a criminal, as well as the “worst secretary of state in the history of the U.S.”

During a recent interview with Andrea Mitchell, Hillary Clinton said Donald Trump likes to defame people.

“He is the candidate of being against [people],” she said.

Despite this and more, Chelsea Clinton firmly believes her friendship with Ivanka Trump will outlast the 2016 election–and beyond.

“I’m really grateful that Ivanka’s my friend,” she says.

Do you think Chelsea Clinton is kidding herself? Can her friendship with Ivanka Trump last as parents on opposite ends of the political spectrum say cruel things about each other–as has become the norm in politics these days?

It will be interesting to hear what Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump have to say about each other a year from now.

  • Chelsea Clinton Shares “Chelsea’s Mom” Parody

Chelsea Clinton is, of course, 100 percent behind her mother, Hillary, as her campaign for president rides the political waves.

While Chelsea Clinton has posted many supportive things to her social media accounts for her mother, none are quite as funny as her parody video post.

The video Chelsea Clinton posted last month has gained quite a bit of attention.

Following in the tradition of acts like “Obama Girl”, YouTube string sensation Well-Strung put their love and support for Hillary Clinton into words. And video.

    The results are hilarious.

In the tweet, Chelsea Clinton gushes, “I couldn’t agree more! Thank you @wellstrungNYC for supporting my mom.”

While Chelsea Clinton supports her aspiring mom, her dad continues to battle tabloids.

This time, it’s the National Enquirer “reporting” that Bill may not be Chlesea Clinton’s biological father.

From the soccer field to the White House—girls can do anything.

A photo posted by Hillary Clinton (@hillaryclinton) on

In the story, the magazine claims that obtained “touch DNA” samples from both Chelsea and Webb Hubbell through such sneaky means as a clean book signed with a brand new Sharpie.

    Sounds legit.

They also claim that the results were sent to a lab and results were “inconclusive.”

Bill’s former aide, Larry Nichols, allegedly told The Enquirer, “It’s time for Hillary and Bill to reveal the dirty truth once and for all. They can’t question DNA!”

Nichols also supposedly heard it right from the horse’s mouth.

He said, “His exact words were: ‘I shoot blanks.’ I asked him, ‘Then what about Chelsea?’ And Bill said, ‘Oh, Webb sired her.’”

Webb was apparently Hillary’s colleague at the Rose Law Firm.

Sounds ridiculous, I know. But, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, I suppose.

What do you think about the decades of drama surrounding Chelsea Clinton’s famous parents?

  • How Old is Hillary Clinton? Is She Practically Guaranteed the Democratic Nomination?

How old is Hillary Clinton? The question is trending in light of the former first lady throwing her hat into that proverbial presidential contender’s ring on Sunday. In doing so, she has confirmed what is being called the ‘worst-kept secret in politics.’ Everyone has long assumed that Hillary Clinton would run for the Democratic party.

“I’m getting ready to do something too,” Hillary Clinton said more than 90 seconds into the video she shared with her constituents on Sunday. “I’m running for president.”

“Every day Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion,” she continues, urging Americans by saying, “It’s your time.”

Is she pretty much guaranteed the Democratic nomination? The Atlantic says yes. They report that “journalists are gearing up for Clinton’s likely primary victory and preparing for a long working relationship.”

So back to that question. Just how old is Hillary Clinton? She is 67. Born Hillary Diane Rodham on October 26, 1947, she is 21 years younger than her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was when he took office.

Is Hillary Clinton too old to run? No. Mitt Romney was in his sixties when he ran for president in 2012. John McCain was 70 when he ran in 2008.

Hillary Clinton wasn’t too old to be the Secretary of State under President Barack Obama. That’s a job she held from 2009 to 2013.

Hillary Clinton is old enough to be mom to Chelsea and a grandmother to Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

So how old is Hillary Clinton? Age is just a number, after all. She seems full of energy and determination. She clearly isn’t too old to pursue her dream–becoming the first female president of the United States.

  • Elmo Interviews Chelsea Clinton: Will Hillary Run?

Elmo — yes, the red Sesame Street guy — has landed an exclusive interview with Chelsea Clinton. And he asked her about Hillary!

The interview ran in People Magazine and was mostly about Chelsea clinton’s daughter Charlotte. Elmo asked about Chelsea recently becoming a mommy.

“I have a beautiful baby daughter named Charlotte,” Chelsea told Elmo, “I try really hard to be a good mommy. I think it’s the most important job in the world.”

Elmo said he had heard that it was important to read books to babies.

“My husband Marc and I read to Charlotte every night, and when her grandparents come over, they read to her as well,” Chelsea said. “It’s so important that little kids, kids Charlotte’s age, and kids your age, Elmo, be read to and talked to and sung to. It helps their brains develop.”

Even though Chelsea is back to working on the goals of the Clinton Foundation, she makes sure to take time in the mornings to be with Charlotte.

“I start talking to her, when I’m changing her diaper in the morning and when we’re picking out what clothes she’s going to wear for the day. I read her the news every morning,” Clinton said, “She agrees with me on everything right now.”

Chelsea told Elmo that it’s not just the parents that have a responsibility to read to babies, but everyone in their lives, including grandparents. That brought up Hillary and Bill Clinton.

“We all kind of compete to see who’s going to read her stories,” Chelsea said. She said that her father gets in on the fun. “He loves walking up and down the hallway with her (past our bookshelves) every time pointing out a different book to her and telling her that someday she’ll be old enough to read that book herself. It’s so sweet.”

But then came the question about whether or not Hillary would run for the office of U.S. President.

“No, I’m waiting too. It’s really sweet how my mom is just so clearly happy being a grandma and I know she’s going to be a great grandma, whatever other choices she makes in her life.”

  • Malia Obama: Stanford or Berkeley Bound?

Malia Obama: Stanford or Berkeley Bound?

Malia Obama has reached that pivotal point in most teenager’s lives when it’s time to seriously consider the colleges to which she’ll apply. The 16-year-old daughter of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will head off to college in the fall of 2016.

President Obama has said in the past that Malia wants to be a filmmaker. The media reported last summer that Malia Obama toured two northern California rivals–both Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Berkeley, of course, is California’s flagship public university. It is known as a liberal enclave. It also has an internationally renown department of film and media.

Stanford is a private university in Palo Alto, and is a far more conservative school. Chelsea Clinton and some Supreme Court justices including Sandra Day O’Connor graduated from there. At Stanford, students can major or minor in film and media studies. The university has more NCAA championships than any other U.S. school. Malia Obama is known as an athlete, excelling at tennis, so she might be a good fit for “Nerd Nation.” That’s the unofficial nickname for Stanford’s sports fans.

Malia Obama certainly has a wealth of fodder for her college essay. She’s lived in the White House since she was just 10 years old, and that alone must be an education of sorts. She’s had a front-row seat to her father’s two presidential campaigns. She has traveled around the world, and met world figures such as Queen Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela and Malala Yousafzai.

Malia Obama’s parents are Harvard-educated lawyers with Ivy League undergraduate degrees–the president’s from Columbia and Michelle Obama’s from Princeton. That said, expectations for Malia undoubtedly run high.

David Hawkins is an official at the National Association for College Admission Counseling in Arlington, Virginia. What did he have to say about Malia Obama with regard to her college applications?

“Given the educational attainment of her parents, which is exceptional in itself, I can only assume she is going to be a bright and well-qualified student,” he said.

What do you predict? Will Malia Obama be heading to Stanford or to Berkeley? Or might she surprise everyone and head somewhere completely unexpected?

  • Bristol Palin, You’re No Chelsea Clinton

When audio was released of Bristol Palin’s now-infamous police interview after the “drunken brawl” she was involved in at a birthday party, something finally had to be said.

In the audio, Bristol cursed repeatedly — so much so that the “bleep” censor sound that most news outlets used to keep the clip from offending their audiences ran for long, uninterrupted flatline seconds. An anchor for CNN was quite amused by it, particularly the long bleeps, and ended up having to apologize for thinking it was funny.

Sarah Palin popped up on Fox Business Network to declare that her family was under attack because people thought Bristol’s rant was funny.

“The bottom line of course is those liberals … they are out there playing the politics of personal destruction. They do want to destroy personally those they disagree with. They’re very, very intolerant of those who maybe hold opposing views to their liberal failed agenda views. So, you know, they want to crush us.”

And Bristol took to her own blog to similarly declare the whole thing proof that The Media has a “bias against conservative women.”

After describing the events of the “brawl” as she saw and experienced them, Bristol Palin asked a very important question:

Why does the media still choose to put the Palins into an entirely different category of people?

She went on to compare the reporting the “brawl”, and particularly about her audio, to other high-profile political families and their children.

“Did you even hear about Vice President Joe Biden’s adult son who kicked out of the Navy for cocaine? (That’s the real Vice President’s kid…) So pause for a moment and consider the hysteria over our stupid ‘incident’, compared to our actual Vice President’s son not even being able to hold on to a position in the Navy Reserve.

“I’m sure you heard the happy news that Chelsea Clinton had a baby. But did you know her father-in-law and Clinton family pal Edward Mezvinsky is a convicted felon because of committing bank, wire, and mail fraud?

“Of course, you didn’t. Because the friends and family of the revered liberal elite are treated like delicate China. Don’t handle too roughly. They are precious. They are off limits. Don’t push on them too hard.

“In the meantime, I was pushed and held down by some guy… and the media salivates like a dog that’s just been given a bone.”

Here’s the problem: What Bristol is doing is making a false equivalency. First of all, Hunter Biden’s discharge was reported widely. But he didn’t go on a cursing rant about it — at least not one that got captured on audio.

But Chelsea Clinton? That was a startling comparison to make, and likely not one that Bristol thought through very well. She went on to compare her situation to a theoretical Chelsea situation.

“Imagine for a second the outrage that would happen if Chelsea Clinton had gotten pushed by some guy. Had she tried to defend herself, the liberal media would’ve held her up as some feminist hero.

    “But it wasn’t Chelsea.”

Columnist Nell Scovell has taken Bristol’s line of logic seriously. She does a side-by-side comparison of the kinds of things both Bristol and Chelsea have said in the past few months. The result is an obvious contrast in the kind of person each young woman presents herself to be to the world.

Chelsea Clinton would never have marched into a party, ready to pick a fight over some issue. Chelsea Clinton would never have cursed a blue streak at a police officer who was trying to find out who hurt her. Chelsea Clinton has had a life of high-profile privilege, sure. And she is parlaying that into a career, family, and respect.

Bristol Palin very likely is a nice woman who loves and does her best for her child. But she believes that people laugh at her because of her politics. All anyone really pays attention to are the long censor bleeps, the salacious news of brawls, and the ridiculousness of her mom’s response.

  • Chelsea Clinton Gives Birth To Baby Girl

Chelsea Clinton was just an awkward teenager when she was introduced to the world as the president’s daughter. She has since grown up to be a successful young woman and a new mother.

Chelsea announced her pregnancy last April, after speaking on women’s empowerment in New York at the Lower Eastside Girls Club.

“I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,” said Chelsea Clinton at the time.

Chelsea was looking forward to becoming a mother and talked about it in several interviews throughout 2013. She even told Glamour Magazine that 2014 would be “the year of the baby.”

Chelsea married her husband Marc Mezvinsky in 2010, but was still focused on her career at the time. She is the vice chair of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation and also worked as a reporter for NBC news.

After learning that she was pregnant, Chelsea decided to leave NBC to focus on her first child and her work with the family foundation.

Chelsea announced the birth of her daughter on Twitter and both Bill and Hilary also retweeted the post to share the news.

Bill and Hillary also shared photos of themselves with their new granddaughter and seemed ecstatic to be grandparents.

Congratulations to the entire family on their new bundle of joy.

  • Chelsea Clinton Makes $75K for Speaking Appearance

Potential 2016 Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has come under fire recently for seeming to align herself with “regular folks,” all while pulling in speaking fees that equal more per appearance than most people make in a year. Hillary has made as much as $300,000 on speaking engagements.

However, Hillary has pointed out that the money from all her speaking engagements goes directly to charity. Opponents of Hillary Clinton have demanded that figures be released that show how much she is making off each speech she gives, and exactly how much of that goes to charity. They say that her wealth makes her out of touch with normal, average Americans.

Now we learn that former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton ain’t no slouch on the speaking circuit herself.

Chelsea Clinton reportedly pulls down up to $75,000 per speaking engagement. But, also like her mother, she donates every bit of the money she gets from speaking fees to charity, specifically to the Clinton Foundation.

A representative for Chelsea Clinton was quick to point out that all the speaking that she does is related to the work of the Clinton Foundation. Furthermore, she chooses specific speaking engagements based on the organization’s focus on issues that the Clinton Foundation supports.

The Clinton Foundation lists its Guiding Principles as:

    – We’re all in this together.

    – Nothing truly happens unless a life is changed.

    – No one has all the answers, but we can bring together the people who can find them.

    – Results you can measure are the only results that matter.

    – Empowerment is liberating and life-changing.

    – There is always a way to be faster, leaner, and better.

    – The greatest good is helping people live their best life story.

Beyond her volunteer work with the Foundation, Chelsea herself is not hurting for money. She was under $600,000 per year contract with NBC where she was a special correspondent.

So what is Chelsea like on stage? Here is a TED talk she gave, as an example.

  • Malia Obama Turned Sweet 16 on the 4th of July

Malia Obama turned sweet 16 on Friday–the 4th of July. The daughter of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama is just one of several White House daughters to celebrate this milestone birthday while their dad was in office.

Twins Barbara and Jenna Bush turned 16 while their father George W. Bush was president. Chelsea Clinton–who is expecting her first baby in the coming months–turned 16 when Bill Clinton was in office. Who can forget little Amy Carter who skipped through the White House during Jimmy Carter’s one-term White House reign? She turned sweet 16 at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., too.

And then there’s Susan Ford, whom the media heard little about, except maybe for that 16th birthday milestone. Her mom Betty Ford was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after Gerald Ford took office, so Susan took a bit of a back seat to the media reports.

And Lyndon B. and Ladybird Johnson’s two daughters Luci and Lynda both celebrated their sweet 16 birthdays in the White House, too, when their dad stepped into the presidency following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Even though all of these young girls–most of them grown women now–celebrated these milestone birthdays while their famous fathers were president, times have definitely changed from Luci and Lynda Johnson to Malia Obama. The president and Mrs. Obama strive for normalcy for both Malia and sister Sasha Obama.

“They really want normalcy, and the White House isn’t normal,” Michelle Obama said during an interview with Jimmy Fallon a few months ago.

“The truth of the matter is, they have more freedom than maybe we might have anticipated,” President Obama said.

He added that he doesn’t worry as much as he thought he might–especially about the prospect of dating.

“I’ve got men with guns following them around all the time,” he told Steve Harvey a while back.

So exactly how did the Obama family celebrate Malia Obama turning 16? Well, Pitbull entertained on the White House Lawn as part of the annual 4th of July event there. That’s not a bad way for a teenager to celebrate her big day.

Can you imagine what it must be like to be a teenager in the White House? Like all the young ladies who celebrated these birthdays before her, Malia Obama doesn’t have the freedom of simply picking up her phone and arranging to meet a group of girlfriends at the mall. She can’t accept an invitation to a new friend’s home or arrange to attend a sleepover at another teen’s house. Still she is enjoying opportunities that most 16-year-olds–and many adults, too–can only dream of experiencing. She’s been privy to a wonderful wardrobe, a Pitbull concert on her south lawn, and world travels.

Life really isn’t so bad for Malia Obama. And to top it all off, since she’s now 16–she can apply for a driver’s license. Does it get any better than that?

  • Chelsea Clinton: $600,000 Annually at NBC, But What Does She Do?

Chelsea Clinton reportedly makes $600,000 yearly from NBC but she hasn’t appeared on air in nearly five months. So what does the daughter of former President Bill and Hillary Clinton do to earn her pay?

So far in 2014 NBC has only aired two stories by Chelsea Clinton–both about education programs. The network is reporting, however, that Chelsea has two more stories that will air very shortly and another two for which filming has just been scheduled. Still–that’s not a lot of work for $600,00 per year.

Just last week it was reported that Clinton is now on a month-to-month contract with NBC. The reason behind this is to ease her departure should mom Hillary Clinton officially announce that she will seek the Democratic nomination for the 2016 presidential race. NBC wouldn’t comment on this nor would anyone from the Clinton camp.

Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting their first baby later in 2014, but news reporters take maternity leave all the time within the news industry. Surely that isn’t behind her lack of on-air appearances.

Former President George W. Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush Hager is a TODAY Show correspondent. News consultant Andrew Tyndall says it’s clear that Bush’s daughter is very interested in becoming a bona fide television journalist, while it seems Clinton’s daughter is not.

Tyndall, who monitors the content of network evening news programs, says of Chelsea Clinton, “She has a niche on the ‘Nightly News’ profiling philanthropic, volunteer and community service programs, often in praise of these groups. She puts herself in the center of these groups’ activities.”

He compared Clinton’s reporting style with that of a cheerleader.

Is it possible that Chelsea Clinton hasn’t spent much time on NBC because she’s simply not a very good television journalist? Jenna Bush Hager exudes a warmth and a legitimacy that lends itself to that of Katie Couric or Savannah Guthrie. You want to listen to her because you believe what she has to say. And while what Hager makes hasn’t been announced, one has to wonder if it’s comparable with Clinton’s salary. This is a bit of a slap in the face to journalists who have to climb the ranks the old fashioned way.

Do you suppose Jenna is making the kind of money Chelsea is? Is there are reason NBC has hired the daughters of two former presidents–a Democrat and a Republican? Sources say there may be an unspoken advantage to doing exactly that. How might this all play out when the presidential primaries are under way?

  • Chelsea Clinton Receives PhD from Oxford

Dr. Chelsea Clinton, 34, graduated Saturday from England’s prestigious Oxford University with a PhD in international relations.

Former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea’s husband, Marc Mezvinsky, were on hand to congratulate the new graduate.

The former president is very familiar with his daughter’s prestigious university as he was a Oxford Rhodes scholar himself from 1968 to 1970.

Chelsea — a special correspondent for NBC News — adds this latest credential to a long list of impressive achievements. She is a graduate of Stanford University and holds master’s degrees from Oxford and Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April, President Clinton — and proud papa — told the host that once his daughter receives her doctorate, she will have four degrees.

“She’ll have as many as her parents do — combined,” Bill Clinton said. “When she was younger, the way all kids are, she thought she knew more than I did about everything. But alas, in my dotage, it turned out to be true!”

Clinton’s dissertation examines international global governance structures with a focus on global health, an issue for which she has advocated for years.

It has been a busy and exciting year for the Clinton family. Hillary is considering a potential 2016 presidential campaign and the family is waiting for the arrival of the younger couple’s first child in the fall.

The 34-year-old Clinton has taken a more public role at her family’s Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, where she serves as vice chairwoman, and if her mother does runs for president, the younger Clinton could be an important asset for her mother’s campaign by connecting with younger voters.

It seems it’s only a matter of time before Dr. Clinton adds Senator, Congresswoman or President to her name.

  • Chelsea Clinton Is Expecting Her First Child

2014 is going to be an exciting year for the Clinton family, as Chelsea Clinton, 34, recently revealed that she is pregnant and expecting her first child this fall.

Chelsea, the daughter of former president Bill Clinton, announced on Thursday that she, and her husband Marc Mezvinsky, will be welcoming their first child this fall.

While attending a Clinton Foundation event on empowering women, along with her mother Hillary Clinton, Chelsea made the announcement. “Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year and I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in a world with so many strong female leaders,” she said.

Chelsea then made a sweet reference to her mother, saying that she hopes to be as good of a mother to her child as Hillary was to her. “I just hope I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,” she said.

Hillary, who is considering running for the presidential election in 2016, said that she is very excited for her daughter, and to become a grandmother. “It makes this work even more important because we’ve made a lot of progress,” Hillary said. “I want to see us keep moving and certainly for future generations as well so that maybe our grandchild will not have to be worried about some of the things that young women and young men are worried about today.”

Hillary later took to Twitter to announce her favorite title of all time … grandmother-to-be! “My most exciting title yet: Grandmother-To-Be! @billclinton and I are thrilled that Chelsea and Marc are expecting their first child!” she tweeted.

Bill also shared his excitement, via Twitter. “Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio…grandfather-to-be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!” he wrote.

  • Chelsea Clinton Announces She’s Pregnant with First Child

Chelsea Clinton, former First Daughter, is pregnant with her first child.

Clinton made the announcement on stage at a Clinton Foundation event in New York City on Thursday:

“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year and I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in a world with so many strong female leaders.”

It was an appropriate slant for the announcement given that Clinton was participating in a forum at Girls: A No Ceilings Conversation, an event designed to promote empowerment among young women.

The event took place at the Lower East Side Girls Club and was moderated by actress and activist America Ferrera.

” … thank you for inspiring future generations, including the one that we’ll be lucky enough to welcome into our family later this year,” Clinton said.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sat beside her daughter beaming proudly as the announcement was made.

In a 2012 interview with Vogue Clinton alluded to the fact that her mother was anxious for grandchildren.

“Marc and I are both working really hard right now,” she said at the time, “but I think in a couple of years, hopefully . . . literally, God willing. And I hope my mom can wait that long.”

Clinton married Marc Mezvinsky in 2010. Like his wife, Mezvinsky is the son of politicians, but he seems content to stay on the sidelines, at least for now, and continue his work as an investment banker.

After announcing her pregnancy, Clinton added “I just hope that I’ll be as good to my child as my mom was to me,” to which Hillary, who is seen by many as the front-runner for the presidency in 2016, replied “I’m expecting a grand child which I’m very excited about. We’re very excited about what’s happening in our family but we’re also very excited about what we’re doing.”

Clinton’s pregnancy announcement came on the heels of her admission that she may consider running for political office at some point in the future.

  • Chelsea Clinton Pregnant With Her First Child

It’s going to be a special year for the Clintons.

Chelsea Clinton announced Thursday that she and her husband, Marc Mexvinsky, are expecting their first child this fall.

Clinton, 34, is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The world has been waiting impatiently for the former first daughter to have a little Clinton heir. In an interview with Glamour magazine last year, she said having a family was in the works, calling 2014 “the year of the baby.

“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year and I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in a world with so many strong female leaders,” Clinton said in New York, alongside her mother at a Clinton Foundation event on empowering women.

“I just hope I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,” she said.

Hillary Clinton, the former first lady, secretary of state and New York senator, said she was “really excited” about becoming a grandma.

“It makes this work even more important because we’ve made a lot of progress,” Clinton said. “I want to see us keep moving and certainly for future generations as well so that maybe our grandchild will not have to be worried about some of the things that young women and young men are worried about today.”

Like most people with good news to share, Hillary posted the news to Twitter.

And in perfect grandfather-to-be fashion, the former president also tweeted his excitement.

While her mother contemplates a run for the White House, Chelsea will juggle baby-prep with her work as vice chair of the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation and as a special correspondent for NBC News.

She has contemplated following in her parents’ footsteps by running for office, but that may need to be put on hold for a bit.

Chelsea Clinton: The First Woman President?

Chelsea Clinton has lived in the political spotlight for most of her life. Her parents have both been actively involved in politics, so it just makes sense that Chelsea would be too.

As the daughter of former president Bill Clinton, Chelsea has been asked on numerous occasions if she has ever thought about running for office. Normally, Clinton answers with a firm no, however she recently revealed, during an interview with Fast Company magazine, that she is not ruling it out and is leaving the door open for the future.

“I live in a city and a state and a country where I support my elected representatives,” Clinton explained. “If at some point that weren’t the case, and I didn’t support my mayor or my city councilwoman or my congresswoman or either of my senators–and I’m lucky to live in a state where I have lots of women representing me, you know–maybe then I’d have to ask and answer the question for myself, and come to a different answer.”

Clinton has made similar comments over the past couple of years to different media outlets, including CNN. In August 2013, Clinton, along with her mother and father, were on a trip to Africa with the Chelsea Foundation. While there, CNN caught up with Chelsea and asked her what her future in politics currently looked like.

“I’m grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I really believe in my elected officials, and their ethos and their competencies,” she said. “Someday, if either of those weren’t true, and I thought I could make more of a difference in the public sector, or if I didn’t like how my city or state or country were being run, I’d have to ask and answer that question.”

Clinton’s father has total faith in his daughter’s abilities, and even said that he thought she would make a good president … even better than her mother. “Day after tomorrow, my wife because she’s had more experience,” Bill said when he was asked who would make a better president. “Over the long run, Chelsea. She knows more than we do about everything.”

  • Chelsea Clinton Could Be Headed For Politics

Chelsea Clinton Could Be Headed For Politics

As the daughter of two of the most recognizable political figures in the U.S., it was inevitable that Chelsea Clinton would be asked about her political ambitions. The 34-year-old has always deflected such questions in the past, but now it appears that Clinton may very well be considering public office in the future.

According to a new Fast Company interview Clinton is definitely leaving the door open to following her parents into politics. Where in the past she had denied any political ambitions, she now isn’t ruling that out as a future possibility. Clinton’s quote, from the interview:

“I live in a city and a state and a country where I support my elected representatives. If at some point that weren’t the case, and I didn’t support my mayor or my city councilwoman or my congresswoman or either of my senators – and I’m lucky to live in a state where I have lots of women representing me, you know – maybe then I’d have to ask and answer the question for myself, and come to a different answer.”

Clinton told Fast Company that she had tried to strike her own path, but now feels “called” to work with her father’s philanthropic organization. She is currently the Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation and says that she feels she has contributions to make in the world. Whether this includes politics is still an open question, as Clinton has stated in the past that she feels political office is not the only way to change the world.

For years Clinton had done everything but follow in her family’s footsteps. Since graduating from Stanford (and Oxford and Columbia), she has embarked on several different career paths, spending time with consulting agencies and Wall Street firms as well as as recent stint as a special correspondent for NBC news.

For the time being, Clinton is working with the Clinton Foundation and focusing on issues that matter to her. Many of these issues appear on her social media accounts, where she often highlights stories:

  • Chelsea Clinton: “You Don’t Need to Be Elected to Political Office to Change the World”

Chelsea Clinton gets asked when she’ll run for political office on a nearly daily basis.

“Very few days go by when people don’t ask me that question,” the former First Daughter recently told late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon.

The very reason for her appearance on the show demonstrates why the question gets asked so often. Clinton was promoting the Clinton Global Initiative University 2014 which took place March 21-23 at Arizona State University.

“I find CGI U every year to be the most potent antidote to any cynicism about the world because of the work students are doing to tackle challenges big and small, to make a difference today and create a different world for tomorrow,” Clinton recently told The WorldPost.

Besides working with the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI,) Chelsea Clinton is Vice Chair of The Clinton Foundation, having formally joined the its board in 2011. Clinton was instrumental in the organization’s decision to get its first external review as well as the selection of a new chief executive officer.

It seems that political activism is in Chelsea Clinton’s blood, whether or not it results in her running for office in the future.

During an interview last September at CGI’s annual conference in New York City, Clinton admitted that she hasn’t ruled out running for public office and she hopes many young people feel the same.

“I do find it pretty discouraging that almost none of my friends think about running for public office as an option in their lives … I find it very troubling that so many of my friends who are doing important and often disruptive work, whether it’s in technology startups or the social sector or beyond, aren’t thinking about how to translate those experiences — and their desire to see our country be stronger and healthier than ever before — into possibly entering into the political arena.”

However, she pointed out that platforms such as Americorps, Change.org, IndieGoGo, Teach for America, even Twitter and Facebook offer an opportunity to effect change outside political office.

As for Clinton, she says she’s focusing on being a more purposeful public person.

“You don’t need to be elected to political office to change the world,” Clinton said.

  • Marjorie Margolies Gets Campaign Help from Bill Clinton

Marjorie Margolies wants to return to Congress in 2014 and she has a big name behind her: former US President Bill Clinton.

Clinton will appear at an April 10 fundraiser luncheon at the Prime Rib restaurant in Philadelphia on behalf of Margolies. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, tickets are $1,000 and $5,000.

Margolies and Clinton share important family ties: her son Marc Mezvinsky married Chelsea Clinton in July 2010.

But Margolies and Clinton go way back.

Margolies served one term in the House of Representatives from 1993-1995. She cast the deciding vote in favor of Clinton’s controversial 1993 tax increases.

Margolies lost her bid for re-election to Republican candidate Jon D. Fox. She was one of 34 Democratic incumbents who were defeated in Newt Gingerich’s “Republican Revolution” in which Republicans took control of the House for the first time in 40 years.

Margolies stands by her historic vote insisting that, though it cost her re-election, the tax increase “laid the groundwork for the largest expansion of our nation’s economy since World War II.”

Other legislation that Margolies is proud to claim she fought for during her Congressional term includes the Family and Medical Leave Act, the ban on assault weapons, and increased federal funding for women’s health care.

Margolies returned to her successful television journalism career when she left Congress. Her resume boasts stints as contributing correspondent on The Today Show, Sunday Today, A Closer Look, CNBC, and Real Life with Jane Pauley as well as five Emmy Awards.

Like her son’s famous mother-in-law, Margolies has suffered humiliation at the hands of a spouse. Her ex-husband Ed Mezvinsky, who represented Iowa in the US House from 1973-1977, was convicted of financial fraud and sentenced to federal prison in 2001. He served five years from 2003-2008.

The couple filed for bankruptcy and Margolies abruptly dropped out of her 2000 bid for Rick Santorum’s Senate seat. They divorced in 2007.

“I am convinced he had every intention of paying everybody back. He just got into a black hole that he couldn’t get out of,” Margolies has said of her ex-husband.

Margolies is a case study in how women can defy the odds. In the years since her last Congressional term, she has served as an adjunct professor, lectured throughout the US, written books, and founded Women’s Campaign International (WCI.)

Margolies currently serves as president of WCI, an organization whose “programs help women find their voices by giving them tangible skills in political leadership, conflict mitigation, economic empowerment and civic engagement.”

  • Chelsea Clinton Talks About Her Own Political Future

Although the year 2016 is still a good distance away, folks on either side of the political aisle can’t stop wondering if former First Lady Hillary Clinton will run for the oval office or not, which is why her daughter Chelsea Clinton has been asked over and over what her mom’s future plans are.

In a Las Vegas Human Rights Conference this past weekend, Chelsea didn’t let on one way or another whether her mom will throw her hat in the political ring, and it’s safe to assume that she wouldn’t tell people even if she did know.

“My crystal ball is no clearer than yours,” she said.

In addition, the former First Daughter said both she and her mom will continue to fight for human rights, especially when it comes to gay and women’s issues.

“My mother has often said that the issue of women’s rights is the unfinished business of the 21st century [and] that is certainly true,” said Chelsea. “But so, too, are the issues of LGTBQ rights, the unfinished business of the 21st century.”

And when it comes to her own political aspirations, Chelsea said she’s currently living in the best of both worlds, because she can talk about the issues that she’s passionate about, like human rights, and at the same time she can be a regular citizen and enjoy her personal life and her family.

“I’m grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I really believe in my elected officials, and their ethos and their competencies,” she said in a 2013 interview. “Someday, if either of those weren’t true and I thought I could make more of a difference in the public sector, or if I didn’t like how my city or state or country were being run, I’d have to ask and answer that question.”
