  • Tim Brando Leaves CBS Sports After 18 Years

After 18 years, veteran broadcaster Tim Brando has made the decision to leave CBS Sports Network, and officially made the announcement on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

His radio show The Tim Brando Show, is also no longer on the air. His show is currently carried on SiriusXM satellite radio on channel 91, and airs from 8:00-11:00 a.m. CT.

Along with being a radio host, Brando is probably best known for his play-by-play announcements while covering college basketball and college football.

Brando’s announcement comes only three short weeks after The Tim Brando Show was last aired on CBS Sports Network. “It was a great run,” Brando said. “It maybe ended a little sooner than it could have. (The Tim Brando Show) cancellation didn’t have to impact things the way it did, but I’d be lying if I told you it didn’t play a role.”

Below is Brando’s post that he made on Facebook, that explained his reasoning for making the decision to leave the network.

After 18 years at CBS and 16 years as the Host of College Football Today, I am leaving CBS Sports. I will no longer be the Host of College Football Today or provide play by play services for their golf, football or basketball coverage. This news comes on the heels of my announcement that the Tim Brando Show will not be returning to CBS Sports Network. It was truly a privilege to cover The SEC on CBS, The Road to the Final Four, and more recently The Masters for Masters.com and The PGA and Champions Tour. It was an honor working there. I am looking forward to new opportunies and making many exciting new memories
covering sports. I greatly appreciate all the love and support from my loyal fans! Please stay tuned to this page, as we will post news as it becomes available! Don’t forget- you can ALWAYS listen to the show from 8-11am CT on
SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91. Thanks for your continued support- Timmy B.

Despite the cancellation of his show, Brando says that he harbors no hard feelings towards the network. “They’ve handled me appropriately and we parted amicably,” he said. “They’ve handled it in a professional manner and I think I have, too. And that’s good. You never want to burn bridges in this business.”

  • Tim Tebow May Have A Career In TV

Tim Tebow May Have A Career In TV

His NFL career may be over, but that doesn’t mean football will no longer be a part of Tim Tebow’s life.

Though many fans, and Tebow himself, would have liked to see him in the NFL again, he hasn’t received the call from any NFL team since he was let go from the New England Patriots in August. Not even when so many teams could have used a quarterback this season.

The former NFL quarterback is the cause of a TV bidding war. Multiple sources told The Big Lead that many channels, including ESPN, CBS Sports, and Fox Sports, are vying for Tebow to be the newest analyst for college football. ESPN already has a show designed for Tebow on their ESPN SEC Network.

It is expected that come January, Tebow’s phone will be ringing with offers to become a college football analyst.

ESPN will debut its SEC Network in August 2014. The network has plans for its own version of “College Gameday.” Tebow is one of three names that are being thrown around to co-host the show. Alabama grad Rece Davis and “the voice of the South” Paul Finebaum have also been mentioned. ESPN is still looking for a fourth co-host for the show.

And getting Tebow to the SEC Network could be the ticket for the network to get picked up by multiple cable providers.

CBS Sports wants Tebow so bad they’re willing to make major changes to their pre-game show to get him.

If Fox can snag Tebow, they’re looking to have him analyze both college football and NFL games.

Personally, I think the Heisman Trophy winner and former Florida Gator would be a great get for any network looking to add to or create a show.

Though it looks like some people disagree with me.

The decision to open the platform up for development comes from an awareness that fantasy sports players are accessing a wide variety of tools to manage their teams. Jason Kind, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CBSSports.com, says that “providing outside developers access to our proprietary service will benefit the entire fantasy industry ecosystem, creating additional value for companies, developers, and advertisers while consolidating and enhancing the experience for fantasy players.” The Fantasy Platform is designed to offer players the chance to integrate key fantasy management tools directly into their team management, helping to streamline the process and make it more enjoyable for players.

The initial six Fantasy Platform partners are Advanced Sports Media, Bloomberg Sports, MLB.com, Rotowire, StatSheet, and Ziguana.

The MMOD "Boss Button" has been redesigned for 2010 as well. The "Boss Button", which was clicked over 2.7 million times during the 2009 tournament, hides the live video action on the screen and silences the audio, replacing it with a "business-like" image. The new "Boss Button" image will be introduced on March 14 before the NCAA Basketball Champion Selection Show.

"The upgrades and improvements CBSSports.com has made to NCAA Madness on Demand in 2010 will provide for an incredible online viewing experience," said Jason Kint, Senior Vice President and General Manager, CBSSports.com. "

Our goal has always been to give NCAA basketball fans access to all the games on all platforms – TV, online, and mobile, and through that process, we’ve built one of the largest streaming events in the world."
