  • Arkham City Armored Edition Catwoman Revealed

Today Warner Bros and DC released the first look at the new armored suit that Catwoman will wear in Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition. The suit is part of the Battle Armoured Tech (B.A.T.) mode included with the Wii U version of the game. Batman will also be getting a B.A.T. suit. Warner Bros has stated that the suits will allow players to build “kinetic energy” during combat, and then activate B.A.T. mode to raise their damage output.

While these B.A.T. suits sound like a nice addition for Nintendo fans who may have missed Arkham City when it was released for other consoles, I can’t help but think there may be another reason for the new look. Catwoman’s new B.A.T. suit covers her entire body, similar to the Catwoman revealed recently for Injustice: Gods Among Us. This summer’s blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises, also did a thorough job of covering Anne Hathaway’s body , even making her less of an overtly sexual character than Julie Newmar’s Catwoman. In the original version of Arkham City, however, Catwoman has incredibly unrealistic cleavage and wears her suit unzipped practically to her navel. It is possible that with the B.A.T suits Warner Bros and DC are responding to the charges of sexism that were thrown their way when Arkham City was released last fall.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition will be released for the Wii U sometime this winter. It will feature all of the content from the original Arkham City and include all available downloadable content (DLC) for the game. The Wii U GamePad will be used to give players instant access to their Batcomputer to select objectives, choose gadgets, and upgrade their character.

  • Julie Newmar: 5 Reasons To Love The Original Catwoman

Julie Newmar, the statuesque actress who first played Catwoman on the televised Batman series in the 60’s, still has fans declaring their love of her to this day. Now 78, she says her fanmail mostly consists of letters from guys crediting her with the ushering of their manhood, and, because she’s awesome, she’s okay with that.

If you take a look at the beauty in her prime, it’s no wonder men couldn’t keep their tongues in their heads at the sight of her. With an astonishingly perfect hourglass figure–she measured 38-23-38–Newmar was the woman every other female aspired to be; the height of beauty and elegance. And even if her role as Catwoman required her to purr sometimes and make cheesy puns alongside Adam West’s Bruce Wayne, who cares? No one was listening anyway.

So now, for your enjoyment, here are 5 reasons to love her.

  • Halle Berry Injured on the Set of Director Brad Anderson’s The Hive

Halle Berry is certainly no stranger to the world of action cinema. The former Bond girl has participated in a number of high-octane, big-budget motion pictures over the past few years, including “X-Men”, “Catwoman”, and “Swordfish”, just to name a few. In other words, the actress is well-versed in the dangers generally associated with this sort of production. Although numerous precautions are taken to insure the safety of everyone involved, accidents are going to happen, regardless of how much you prepare for such things.

While partaking in a fight scene on the set of “Session 9” director Brad Anderson’s upcoming suspense/thriller “The Hive”, Berry suffered a minor injury, according to the folks over at TMZ. The “Executive Decision” co-star was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center around 10pm on Tuesday night to address the issue, though nothing serious is currently being reported. Furthermore, Berry’s representative has stated the actress will continue to work on Anderson’s picture, which is good news for the cast and crew, I’m sure. No harm, no foul.

The Associated Press has reportedly made several attempts to contact the film’s producers, namely Troika Pictures and WWE Studios, for comment, though no one from either camp has made a statement regarding the matter as of this posting. In fact, Berry’s spokesperson refused to give the location of the hospital she was admitted to, though, being TMZ, they managed to work around this particular roadblock. Sneaky, sneaky.

“The Hive”, which also stars Abigail Breslin, Tara Platt, and Evie Thompson, features Berry as a emergency operator who must confront a sadistic killer from her past in order to save a young girl’s life. If this particular endeavor is as engaging as Anderson’s previous efforts, audiences can expect something worthwhile. Berry’s last flick, director John Stockwell’s “Dark Tide”, was released in 2011. Look for “The Hive” to drop next year.

  • Anne Hathaway as Catwoman: The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign Stays Hot

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman: The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign Stays Hot

The social media buzz machine behind the upcoming threequel The Dark Knight Rises seems to know what they are doing. Their campaign of unveiling little bits of information, piece by piece, and allowing the internet to explode with every new reveal is ramping up chatter for a film that probably doesn’t need much help generating chatter in the first place.

The newest item from the set is the first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and/or Catwoman. That’s the thing – it’s unclear which ego this photo captures.

The photo was released unceremoniously on the official Dark Knight rises website. It appears via a hidden link on the middle of the home screen, across TDKR lettering.

The photo is called selina_kyle.jpg, so what we are looking at might be a particular version of the character that’s not exactly full-Catwoman. This could explain the lack of cat-like signifiers on the costume – no ears or anything.

A few other things jump out about the photo – First, the high-tech nature of the costume. The skin-tight black suit looks more “tactical” than anything. And those goggles are reminiscent of later adaptations of the character. And isn’t she on the batpod? Could that mean that Catwoman will be on Batman’s side in the new film? Or did she just steal it, being the master thief that she is.

Here’s some of the Twitter reaction from this morning’s release –

Lol at the fanboys complaining about catwoman costume. Just admit you wanted to see her in spandex or leather with her boobs hanging out smh 57 seconds ago via Echofon · powered by @socialditto

Wow @ Catwoman’s costume in Dark Knight Rises… 1 minute ago via web · powered by @socialditto

@Izmeister its truly appalling! I live in hope that she’s just a thief at this point and not in the guise of Catwoman yet… 4 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® · powered by @socialditto

I know! Her hair was awful too! Blech. RT @yayahan Catwoman’s first reveal was entirely anticlimactic. I see the actress, not the character. 8 minutes ago via twidroyd · powered by @socialditto

    Oh, ye of little faith.

The Dark Knight Rises viral campaign began with a Twitter campaign to release the first picture of TDKR villain Bane. After that, fans took to launching their own viral campaign with surprisingly well made fan videos that many speculated to be legit Warner Bros products for quite some time.

The teaser trailer was then debuted during the final Harry Potter film.

In other superhero news, the first photo emerged yesterday of Henry Cavill as Superman in the upcoming Man of Steel. Twitter complained about his hair as well.
