  • Elizabeth Banks On Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Death

If you haven’t heard, another untimely death occurred this past weekend, and fans and co-stars are morning him deeply. Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday. While the cause of his death was previously unknown, it has since been confirmed that Hoffman died of an apparent heroin overdose.

The 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor’s most recent project was the third installment of the Hunger Games trilogy Mockingjay . Mockingjay was shot in two parts, the first to be released later this year. While the first part was complete, it was reported that Hoffman still had several scenes left to shoot in the second part, including one very emotional scene. The studio revealed, that while Hoffman’s death is a set back and they are horribly saddened by his death, production on part two will continue.

The entire cast of the Hunger Games released a statement offering their condolences to Hoffman’s family and talking about what a wonderful actor Hoffman was.

“Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now,” the statement reads. “Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to his family.”

A Lionsgate spokesperson also released a statement regarding Hoffman’s death. “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family,” the film studio’s statement read. “Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”

Now, Hoffman’s co-star Elizabeth Banks has opened up about Hoffman’s death, and says she is still in shock. “I’m still processing it,” Banks explained. “I really am in shock. He is an absolutely amazing actor, respected by everyone and part of our family at The Hunger Games. We will miss him terribly, and obviously, we’re really upset for his children and his partner,” Banks continued. “It’s just a tragedy.”

Hoffman is survived by his longtime partner Mimi O’Donnell and their three children Cooper, Tallulah and Willa.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Named Celebrity of the Year

Jennifer Lawrence has been named Celebrity of the Year by NBC’s The TODAY Show. The announcement came today on the morning news show. Named Entertainer of the Year by the Associated Press just about a week ago, it seems everyone is quite taken with the Catching Fire, American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook star.

The TODAY Show announced that Lawrence was their “runaway choice” for celebrity of the year. They repeatedly cited humorous and just slightly off-color things the actress was heard saying in the past year, noting how down-to-earth and unscathed by stardom the 23-year-old is.

Jennifer Lawrence also made her way on to Barbara Walter’s yearly list of the “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013.” She has certainly intrigued people–both with her acting skills and her sense of self.

Some things The TODAY Show hosts loved about Jennifer Lawrence during 2013 include her comment after winning her Golden Globe for Silver Linings Playbook last January.

“Oh, what does it say? I beat Meryl!” she joked.

After tripping on her dress at the Academy Awards just a month later, Lawrence said, “I’m sorry, I did a shot before I …”

And in April, at the L.A. Film Critics Awards, she coughed and shook hands with people, after which she told them, “I’m sick so you’re screwed.”

In addition to the fun had at Jennifer Lawrence’s expense, she has become a role model for women everywhere. Deemed on the “fat” side by Hollywood standards (she definitely isn’t fat!) she has kept her healthy look and has no intentions of conforming.

Do you think Jennifer Lawrence is a good choice as The TODAY Show’s Celebrity of the Year?

  • Liam Hemsworth’s Ex Miley Cyrus Fears Being Alone

We all have that fear of being alone, including Miley Cyrus. During an interview with Barbara Walters, Cyrus opened up about breaking off her engagement to Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, and why she stayed with him even though she knew things were moving too fast.

While filming a segment for an upcoming ABC news special Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013, Walters asked Cyrus the personal questions that they world has been wanting to know about her relationship with her ex fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

In a very honest and sincere answer, Cyrus told Walters that she had an overwhelming fear of being alone, and that is what made her stay with Hemsworth as long as she did. Cyrus was only 19-years-old when she and Hemsworth got engaged, and while she says she enjoyed having a “fat rock” on her finger, she also says she knew things were moving way too fast.

“I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year,” Cyrus said. “I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged,” she continued. “It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years, but now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.”

Earlier this month, Hemsworth opened up about his break-up with Cyrus during an interview with E! News. “These days I feel like I’m more centered and grounded than I’ve ever been,” he said. “I’ve learned so much. The first few years in L.A. were really tough and scary, but I had to figure things out for myself.” When asked about the rumors surrounding his split from Cyrus he replied: “What I always keep in mind is that I know what the truth is and that’s all that matters. I know I’m a good person.”

  • “Frozen” Freezes “Catching Fire” At The Box Office, Earns Top Spot

“Frozen” Freezes “Catching Fire” At The Box Office, Earns Top Spot

Well, step aside Katniss Everdeen. There is a new film at the top of the box office. While opening to a successful opening weekend on Thanksgiving with all the families attending the theater, Frozen was able to do well. However, it did not catch Catching Fire in its first weekend.

As the crowd attending screenings of Catching Fire died down a bit more this weekend, Frozen was able to claim the top spot at the box office. Frozen is the new film from Disney, and is a musical about a kingdom that has been trapped in eternal winter. Frozen rocketed itself to the top earning $31.6 million over the weekend, and a total of $134.3 million over its first 12 days.

The film is based on the fairy tale The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderoson. It also has a cast that includes Kristen Bell as the voice of Princess Anna, as well as Jonathan Groff, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad in a musically comedic adventure.

Catching Fire broke the November record at the box office, and certainly made a big impact upon its release, much like its predecessor The Hunger Games. Of course, as any big film that hits theaters, sales have to come down at some point, allowing for a film like Frozen to rise to the top.

Newcomers like Out Of The Furnace were unable to compete, as the first weekend of December is often weak at the box office. It is also the time when more films that are likely to be nominated for awards, but are often not hits at the box office are released such as Out Of The Furnace. It tells the story of a veteran coming home from war, starring Casey Affleck and Christian Bale, but is simply unable to compete with the new hit Disney film Frozen.

Due to the success of the film, the musical’s soundtrack is also doing very well, and opened at No.18 on the Billboard 200. Behind Frozen, Catching Fire finished in second place with $27 million, and Out Of The Furnace only made $5.3 million.

Frozen will look to continue its success at the box office as the holidays arrive, and with a timely theme of snow and winter, it is likely to continue to be a hit for families.

  • Catching Fire’s Jena Malone Talks Nude Scene

Jena Malone, the 29 year old actress who brought Catching Fire‘s feisty Johanna Mason to life, revealed recently that while she was “so excited” to portray the novel’s famous strip tease, she was also a little disappointed she wasn’t able to be fully nude in the iconic scene.

In an interview during MTV’s “Catching Fire: Fan Tribute” special, Malone says, “We’re very faithful to the adaptation, so in the elevator I did have to pretty much almost take everything off…unfortunately, there was a part of the wardrobe that I couldn’t.” Malone doesn’t reveal which part she couldn’t remove, but she does add that the strip down was “less about being nude” and more about “wanting to see” if she could actually perform a full strip in only six seconds. (In the MTV interview, Malone also blames her “really long zipper” for holding her up.)

The news of her disappointing partial strip shouldn’t come as much surprise to fans; Malone is no stranger to baring skin for an audience. Earlier this month at the November 18th Catching Fire LA premiere, Jena donned a transparent gown with only small sparkly bits to cover up a few essential parts.

Catching Fire, the second movie in The Hunger Games trilogy, has already grossed over $160 million in the box office and has a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

  • ‘Catching Fire’ Crushes Box Office

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” crushed box office records over the Thanksgiving holiday, earning a whopping $75 million, beating out the previous Thanksgiving record holder, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which earned $57.5 million in 2001 over a three-day period.

“Catching Fire”, based on the series of books by Suzanne Collins, earned the biggest-ever gross for a film from Wednesday to Sunday over the Thanksgiving holiday. It brought in $110.2 million, raising its domestic total to $297 million.

“All of these records being broken, it’s like a true snowball effect,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. “Overall, this is the biggest Thanksgiving weekend for the industry ever. Last year was the Thanksgiving record holder, but this one-two punch with ‘Catching Fire’ and ‘Frozen’ was just amazing.”

Internationally, “Catching Fire” continues to hold strong, grossing $573 million worldwide.

Coming in second over the weekend, “Frozen”, became the largest opening for Walt Disney Animation Studios. It scored $93 million over the five days, beating Disney’s previous winner, “Toy Story 2,” which earned $80.1 million in 1999.

“For a company whose foundation was built on animation, to have this as the biggest opening ever is a pretty extraordinary thing,” said Dave Hollis, executive vice president of distribution at Walt Disney Studios, adding that the box office returns for “Frozen” far surpassed studio expectations.

“We came into the weekend feeling like anything that would exceed the result from ‘Tangled’ from a couple years back would be great,” Hollis continued.

“Tangled” opened with $68.7 million in 2010. “We thought something in the $70-$80 million range is what might be possible with ‘Frozen.’ We are hoping it lends itself to a big, long payoff after this great start,” said Hollis.

Disney’s “Thor: The Dark World” dropped to No. 3 this weekend, earning $11.1 million. Globally, it continues to boost Disney’s earnings with a total of $591.1 million.

Universal’s romantic comedy, “The Best Man Holiday”, held the fourth slot with $8.5 million, while the thriller, “Homefront,” starring Jason Statham and James Franco, secured the No. 5 slot with $7 million.

  • ‘Catching Fire’ Lights Up the Box Office This Thanksgiving Weekend

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire may be even more popular than originally thought, if that’s even possible. Not only is the sequel to the also wildly successful The Hunger Games about to break some impressive records, but is on track to do even better than expected.

Eight days after its release on November 22, 2013, this second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy raked in more than $250 million. Only The Avengers and The Dark Knight have ever made $250 million faster. However, the film is currently on pace to make $75 to $80 million over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which would mean it could be the second best, second weekend earnings of all time, trailing The Avengers.

When all of the numbers are added up, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, is on course to make $290 to $300 million so far. Not too shabby.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, or just haven’t had any interest in this hugely popular series based on the young adult novels by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, follows heroine Katniss Everdeen after she wins her country’s 74th annual Hunger Games.

It seemed like just about everyone on Twitter was cheering for Katniss this weekend:

Another movie that has done better than initially anticipated this weekend is Disney’s Frozen, which is expected to make $100 million since its November 27, 2013 opening date.

Both films beat the Thanksgiving weekend box office record of $82.4 million, set by Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001.

  • Jennifer Lawrence’s Fear Factor

    Jennifer Lawrence’s Fear Factor

Jennifer Lawrence may play the tough girl on film, but in real life she is scared to death of spiders.

Lawrence has revealed that she started crying after seeing a spider on the set of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, because she is so scared of them.

The actress apparently got so freaked out when she came across spiders in the Hawaiian jungle where she was filming “Catching Fire”, that she began to sob.

”Everybody told me there were no spiders, so when I saw three, I started crying. Jungles are not easy when you’re afraid of everything,” she said.

”I think I am a legitimate alcoholic. No, what’s it called? An Arachnophobic,” said the 23-year old actress who plays Katniss Everdeen in series of films.

Filming the third part of the franchise, “Mockingjay”, has already started and Lawrence admits she would love a bit of a break.

”I would like to slow it down. You don’t want more than one or two movies out a year; people get sick of you,” she said.

She continued: ”I think youth and caffeine have kept me going until now. To unwind? I do nothing other than bad TV and a couch.”

Meanwhile, the stunning star opened up to Empire magazine recently regarding fame and what she’s had to give up to be a Hollywood star.

The actress admitted that it’s the small things like visiting a coffee shop with her friends that she misses the most now that she is an international celebrity.

“My personal life is now ruined,” she explained: “I’ve had to create a new one and get used to this new life. It’s hard and it takes time, but I’m sure I will get it.”

“Catching Fire” raked in over $161 million over the opening weekend to make it the biggest November opening of all time.

  • ‘Hunger Games’ Box Office Sales Set November Record

Although no one’s really surprised that “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” came in with a bang, no one really need what the magnitude of the bang would bring. Debuting in the No. 1 slot at the box office, the Blockbuster hit easily knocked off last weekend’s No. 1 best-seller, “Thor: The Dark World.” But, the surprise came from the astronomical numbers “The Hunger Games” franchise raked in, officially surpassing “The Twilight Saga.”

For those who didn’t see the film, or just don’t know, “Twilight: New Moon,” which was released in November of 2009, held the longstanding box office record, grossing over $142 million in its first weekend. LA Times reports that the “Catching Fire” installment garnered a staggering estimate of $161 million over the weekend.

The film also broke the record for North American IMAX theater sales, and those numbers have even been broken down to the grossed average per screen. So here it is: The film played on a total of 347 screens in North America, which equates to approximately $36,300 per screen. The praiseworthy news was also tweeted on “The Hunger Games” series official Twitter page.

The star-studded film, which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson, actually landed in the No. 6 spot on the all-time openings list. The film precedes Blockbuster giants like “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which garnered $207.4 million, “Iron Man 3,” with $174 million, and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II” with $169 million. Last but not least, “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012) both garnered $158 million a piece.

But, the film’s opening accolades don’t stop there. “Catching Fire” also soared in international sales. The world-wide box office sales were calculated at a whopping $307.1million. Film enthusiast rated the film with an “A” CinemaScore grade, which served as excellent edification in building anticipation for movie goers. The film also received laudable remarks from the ever-infamous Rotten Tomatoes movie critics with a score of 89 percent.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is now showing in theaters nationwide. Check your local listings for further details on theater venues and showtimes.

  • Jena Malone Is New Face On Catching Fire

Jena Malone Is New Face On Catching Fire

If you haven’t yet seen Catching Fire, the sequel to the Hunger Games, you will be happy to know that there is a fresh new face on screen. Jena Malone has joined the cast as the fierce, previous Hunger Games victor, Johanna Mason.

Malone’s character’s main trait is her anger, and Malone said, while trying to prepare for the part, that it almost killed her.

“When you first meet her, she’s got enemy written all over her,” Malone said. “She’s violent and sexual and caustic and nefarious. But she has a big arch of friend or foe. But she’s fierce. What I really wanted to explore with her was learning anger. Anger has to be so genuine or it feels so fake, like a fake sneeze. So, the first week of shooting, I didn’t talk to anyone. I needed to have this intimidation factor. I had all this energy surging through me. She almost killed me. A month and a half in, I learned how to turn her off, but at first she was dangerous.”

Malone also spoke about the film during a recent interview. “It’s kind of like winning the lottery as an actor,” she said. “I mean, getting to join such an incredible franchise with an amazing book series, an amazing fan base, an amazing cast and you know, having a new director come on board so you don’t feel like you have to kind of fit in to something that’s already been created.”

Even though she is a “newbie” on the set, she says the whole cast has become like family to her and that she enjoys getting to work with such an amazing group of people.

“We couldn’t do it with any better people too. It’s such an amazing — like we’ve become such a family unit, you know? It’s just nice that we get to have like, you know, Christmases together and we’re going back at, you know, going to go film at the end of the month, like we’re just like keeping at it and it’s so nice that we all, you know, we still really love each other.”

Catching Fire has already topped the box office with $161.1 million domestically and over $300 million worldwide. It is the 4th highest grossing movie of all time.

  • “Hunger Games” Tops Box Office Grossing $161.1 Million

The highly anticipated sequel to the Hunger Games, Catching Fire, was released last week in theaters and has scored big at the box office!

Millions of people went to their local theaters to find out what was going to happen to the notorious Katniss Everdeen. At the end of the movies first week, it had brought in a whopping $161.1 million domestically and $307.73 million worldwide. Not only did it beat out the first movie in the series that grossed $152.5 million in 2012, it also set an all-time November record. The studio estimates that Catching Fire grossed $23.5 million just on Thursday night and Friday morning.

“The strength of the ‘Hunger Games’ franchise is not to be underestimated,” said the chief analyst as Boxoffice.com, Phil Contrino. “This property has clearly expanded its fan base in a big way both at home and overseas.”

The sequel, starring Jennifer Lawrence, makes the fourth highest-grossing opening weekend of all time. The highest record is held by Marvel’s The Avengers with $207.4 million, followed by Iron Man: 3 with $174.1 million and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with $169.1 million.

Below is a list of this weekends 10 top-grossing movies:

    1. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: $161. million
    2. Thor: The Dark World: $14.12 million
    3. The Best Man Holiday: $12.5 million
    4. Delivery Man: $8.2 million
    5. Free Birds: $5.3 million
    6. Last Vegas: $4.4 million
    7. Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa: $3.45 million
    8. Gravity: $3.3 million
    9. 12 Years a Slave: $2.8 million
    10. Dallas Buyers Club: $2.77 million

The second film follows Katniss as she is, once again, thrown into the, action-packed, Hunger Games that have her fighting for her life. According to IMDb, Katniss “Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.”

  • ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Tops Box Office, Receives Positive Critical Reception

No surprise here, but Catching Fire, the widely anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games, was a smash hit at the box office this weekend. Catching Fire not only raked in just over $161 million in ticket sales, it also broke the previous November opening record.

With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 89 percent and an audience approval rating of 94 percent, it’s easy to see why The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was so successful in its opening weekend. The previous opening record for November was held by The Twilight Saga: New MoonNew Moon had $142 million in sales in 2009. Needless to say, Hunger Games fan or not, there will be quite a few people happy to see a Twilight movie dethroned.

Catching Fire takes place right after Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) gets home from the Hunger Games. We find her trying to get past the horrors she faced in the arena while trying to appease the ruthless President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Katniss finds out that her trick with the berries at the end of the last film to save her and Peeta Mellark’s (Josh Hutcherson) lives was seen as an act of defiance by the other districts. As a result, there are rumblings of an uprising, something the oppressive Capitol does not want.

It is decided that Katniss and a rebellion can be eliminated by forcing her participation in yet another Hunger Games for the Quarter Quell. To mark the 75th anniversary of the Hunger Games, two previous victors from each district are selected to participate, something that does not sit well since the victors thought they were guaranteed immunity from all future Hunger Games.

The tributes in the Quarter Quell are of varying ages. We see younger tributes like Katniss and Peeta all the way to an older woman who can barely talk, let alone possesses the physical strength needed to participate in the Games. This character, Mags (Lynn Cohen), is the source of quite a few emotional moments in the film, plus is a testament to just how ruthless the Capitol is.

Did you watch The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in the opening weekend? If so, add your comments about the movie below.

Catching Fire has received generally positive reviews from the critics. Christopher Orr from The Atlantic says, “Now the violence is not merely physical, but existential. Far from having won her freedom as promised, Katniss is now imprisoned in a false public narrative-supporter of the Capitol, lover of Peeta-from which she may never escape.”

NPR’s Bob Mandello says that Catching Fire certainly promises a strong sequel: “Given the strength of this installment, I’d say the box-office odds continue to be, in that Hunger Games catchphrase, ‘ever in its favor.’”

The movie received a lot of positive comments on Twitters, as well:

The third installment of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 1, is slated to release November 21, 2014. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will come almost a year later, November 20, 2015.

  • “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” Lights Up The Box Office With Huge Weekend

It is no surprise to see which film came out on top of the box office this week with such a popular film like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire being released. After a wildly successful weekend, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire broke the November record for an opening weekend at the box office.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opened with great success, earning a total of $161.1 million. It easily beat out the opening of the first film, The Hunger Games, which made $152.5 million in its debut.

This film is the second in The Hunger Games trilogy, a series of young adult novels that were written by Suzanne Collins, and gained a great deal of popularity in the past few years, especially upon the announcement of the release of the first film.

Only three films have ever enjoyed more success on an opening weekend than The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has already, while this also does not include the sales of the majority of Sunday’s showings.

Those three films were The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Many people thought that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire would be able to surpass Iron Man 3, but that film had the advantage of being released in 3-D, and was simply too hard to beat.

The Hunger Games trilogy stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. It also has an ensemble cast that has gained a lot of attention including Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in two biggest roles. Also present are Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, and more.

The huge popularity of The Hunger Games series has even sparked enough attention for people to think about building a Hunger Games theme park, which could be built in the near future for those really big fans that want to see everything that they witnessed in the films in person. As some people know, this was already done for Harry Potter, with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire proved to have virtually no competition, as the second place earner at the box office, Thor: The Dark World made only $14.1 million, with third place being The Best Man Holiday, which made $12.5 million.

On any weekend that a top film like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released, it seems virtually impossible for another film in the theater to even come close, and with a November record at the box office, the top film of the weekend was without a doubt, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film managed to snag 70% of the domestic weekend’s total gross.

  • Jena Malone’s Thing With Baring Skin

Jena Malone’s Thing With Baring Skin

(image) Jena Malone is not afraid to show a little skin.

She rocked the Nov. 18 Los Angeles Premiere of ‘Catching Fire’ in a transparent gown that left little to the imagination. Her sheer Nicholas Oaks designed dress featured strategically placed sparkly gold paneling in the front, back and bodice. She wore her short blonde hair down in a sleek bob, and styled gold Charlotte Olympia shoes.

And on Friday, returning from the New York City premiere, she again bared some skin wearing a black pencil skirt with a thigh-high split and cropped striped top with black leather jacket slung over her shoulders.

Worldwide, ‘Catching Fire’ raked in a whooping $307.7 million over the weekend. In North America, Catching Fire scored the top November opening of all time with $161.1 million, slaying the record set by The Twilight Saga: New Moon ($142.8) becoming the fourth-biggest opening of all time after The Avengers ($207.4 million), Iron Man 3 ($174.1 million) and the final Harry Potter film ($169.2 million).

Malone, who is beginning to see her star rise, plays Johanna Mason and spoke about the film on a recent red carpet interview.

“It’s kind of like winning the lottery as an actor. I mean, getting to join such an incredible franchise with an amazing book series, an amazing fan base, an amazing cast and you know, having a new director come on board so you don’t feel like you have to kind of fit in to something that’s already been created.”

  • Miley Cyrus Celebrates 21st Birthday

    Miley Cyrus Celebrates 21st Birthday

Miley Cyrus celebrates her 21st birthday on Saturday, and just one of the gifts the Wrecking Ball singer will receive is keys to the MTV channel.

Eight hours of programming about Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus’s famous daughter started at noon on Saturday and continued through 8PM. Starting with the debut of 21 Candles: Miley’s MTV Moments, Miley herself played host to the MTV marathon event.

Fans who tweeted birthday wishes to Miley Cyrus, using the hashtag #HappyBirthdayMiley throughout the day Saturday had a chance of being featured on MTV during her marathon birthday bash. Fans could also choose to post a videogram Instagram message. It would certainly be interesting to learn just how many tweets or Instagram video messages Miley Cyrus received for her 21st birthday, and out of those, just how many fans were featured on MTV.

Here’s a preview of Saturday’s birthday celebration for Miley Cyrus on MTV.

It will be fun–and perhaps a bit scary–to learn how Miley Cyrus spent the remainder of her 21st birthday. It likely culminated with a night on the town–and for Miley, that almost always spells some kind of trouble. Lucky for Liam Hemsworth, he no longer has to worry about the day after consequences on behalf of Miley. Now that the two are split up, the Catching Fire star needn’t sleep fitfully when Miley is out on the town.

Do you think Miley Cyrus went out for her birthday or do you suppose she spent a quiet night in with her family instead? She tweeted a photo of her beloved pets later on the 23rd, so it’s certain they were a very important part of her big day.

  • Josh Hutcherson Will Host SNL This Saturday

After you’ve gone to the midnight showing of Catching Fire (because we all know you are) this Thursday, you don’t have to keep spending money on tickets to get your Josh Hutcherson fix. (You can if you want to though, I won’t judge.) You can get a fix in the privacy of your own home, just be sure to set your DVR for this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live. Or you know, watch NBC on your TV from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

If the promos in the video above are what we have to look forward to, then many Hutcherson fans will have an enjoyable evening. Who knows, he may even sway some people to team Peeta with this turn at comedy.

In the promos, the Hutch joins SNL cast member Bobby Moynihan (and my current personal favorite). The promos feature Moynihan punching Hutcherson in the face, an old, partially eaten hot dog, and of course some Hunger Game references – CGI flames anyone?

Hutcherson’s comedic side shines through in the promos. My personal favorite is when Moynihan punches Hutcherson. Not because Hutcherson gets punched, calm down guys, I’m team Peeta.

In the clip Moynihan says, “Josh, we are so excited to have you here. And I think you’re like the youngest host we’ve had in a while. What are you like 25?”

    “No,” replies Hutcherson.

    “23?”

    “No, I’m 21.”

A shocked Moynihan says, “”What the?!” and then punches Hutcherson in the face.

Then Moynihan says, “Look, I’m sorry. It just had to be done.”

“No, it’s all right. My jaw can handle it.” Which provokes Moynihan to punch him in the face again.

I’m sure the show will feature a Hunger Games skit. Maybe they’ll showcase Peeta’s artistic side in a humorous way? Or maybe they’ll even have Hutcherson dress up as Katniss. Guess we’ll just have to watch this Saturday to find out.

Fans are very excited Hutcherson is hosting SNL this weekend.

And some fans just want to get the word out about the hosting gig.

May the odds be ever in your favor this weekend Hutch.

Catching Fire hits theaters this Friday, and Hutcherson can be seen hosting Saturday Night Live this Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 p.m. on NBC with musical guest HAIM.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Struggled With Social Anxiety

Jennifer Lawrence is already well-known as one of the most popular and approachable stars in Hollywood. You would never know that during her childhood, she suffered from social anxiety, and even though she had some friends, she hard a hard time coming out of her shell and just being herself. According to Us Weekly, her mother noticed the change in her first.

“My nickname was ‘Nitro,’ as in nitroglycerin,” she tells the Madame Figaro (translated from French). “I was hyperactive, curious about everything. When my mother told me about my childhood, she always told me there was like a light in me, a spark that inspired me constantly. When I entered school, the light went out. We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety. But I had friends.”

She tried to see a therapist, among other things, but nothing seemed to help her overcome her paralyzing anxieties. Then one day, she discovered acting, and the rest is history.

“One day, I begged my parents to take me to a casting,” the actress tells the mag. “We went to New York, and that’s where I started acting. Just on stage, my mother saw the change that was taking place in me. She saw my anxieties disappear. She found her daughter, the one who had this light and joy before school.”

She added, “I finally found a way [to] open the door to a universe that I understood, that was good for me and made me happy, because I felt capable, whereas before I felt worthless,” she says.

It’s hard to imagine her feeling worthless with all the love that comes her way. Especially from many of her co-stars, like Donald Sutherland. According to E!, the seasoned actor can’t get enough of his young counterpart.

“She’s a delivery system for the truth,” he said of her, while they were promoting Catching Fire. “She channels epiphanies. She’s brilliant, she’s brilliant. She’s unlike other performers.”
He added, “When I work with her, between Katniss Everdeen and Coriolanus Snow, it’s a battle I can taste, eat—I love it!”

He’s not the only one that likes to gush about her, “She’s still the same ole girl,” her X Men costar James McAvoy said earlier this year. “We love Jennifer, she’s amazing. Properly amazing.”

Perhaps it is her struggle that has allowed her to remain so down-to-earth?

  • Jennifer Lawrence: Untouched by Hollywood

    Jennifer Lawrence: Untouched by Hollywood

Jennifer Lawrence is the same person she was when she got into acting. Even an Oscar hasn’t changed this Kentucky native into a celebrity snob. She’s the kind of film star people love to love–and they’re about to love her a whole lot more, with the upcoming premiere of Catching Fire.

Lawrence is known for making some comments that lack a bit of finesse, but it’s moments like those that make her seem so real to people. She’s human. She makes mistakes. And she loves a good joke or a social faux pas as well as the next down-to-earth guy or girl. A recent interview with CNN, along with Hunger Games costar Josh Hutcherson, found Lawrence making comments about kissing that the socially elite might balk at. Those who know and love the Silver Linings Playbook sweetheart simply take them all in stride.

Josh Hutcherson’s first on-screen kiss came at the hands (actually the lips) of Jennifer Lawrence. The two dished about that during their interview.

“We’re great together,” Lawrence said. “We can really kiss.”

“I haven’t had any bad ones,” Hutcherson said, then telling Jennifer, “You’re my first real big kiss in a movie.”

“Really?” Lawrence responded. “Oh my God, was I gentle?”

“No,” Hutcherson replied. “It was a little abrasive, if I’m being honest. A little shocking.”

“It was very slobbery,” Lawrence agreed.

Believe it or not, this kind of don’t care honesty is part of Jennifer Lawrence’s draw. She’s not raunchy–she’s just honest. And she isn’t concerned that a camera or a microphone might be shoved in her face, capturing every word she says or move she makes. Remember how unruffled she appeared after falling at the Oscars?

Josh Hutcherson mentioned how, when Jennifer won her Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, and then returned to filming The Hunger Games, that ‘nothing changed on set.’

“I don’t even think we had a conversation about it,” Lawrence said. “You guys were like, ‘Congratulations, that’s great.’ And then it was like, ‘Cool.’ Then we started talking about farts.”

Is she great or what? Jennifer Lawrence is the kind of actress that fans love to see on the big screen, but she’s also the kind of person that they’d love to invite over for beer and a plate of nachos in front of the TV. She seems real. She really is untouched by whatever Hollywood does to some young entertainers.

Will you be checking Jennifer Lawrence out when Catching Fire premieres on November 22nd? You can bet you won’t be alone, and that many of those who see the film will do so solely out of admiration for Lawrence.

  • Hunger Games Theme Park Could Be A Possibility

The Hunger Games has certainly made its mark as one of the most popular young adult book series to be turned into films, and now it appears that the idea of at a Hunger Games theme park may be on the rise.

With the anticipation of the new film rising, the notion of a theme park should help people get even more excited. The popular series is sure to have one of the most successful sequels, and fans everywhere are likely already getting ready for the upcoming film.

The Hunger Games had an incredible amount of success, and the buzz around the sequel continues to grow, prompting the studio to want even more. Jon Feltheimer, the CEO of Lionsgate said in a statement to analysts on Friday, “We have been approached in two different territories about potential theme park opportunities, which gives you a sense of the cultural impact of this franchise.”

The cast is currently working on the promotion of the new film, and Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth will all leave the set of the upcoming films to promote Catching Fire in Europe. Catching Fire is a big production, costing over $130 million to make, under the direction of Francis Lawrence. The films are based on the young adult series by Suzanne Collins.

Feltheimer did not give too many details about the potential Hunger Games them park, but he did say that they are excited about the ideas, and will be actively pursuing them. A them park built around the dystopian settings and characters in the series would look to replicate the success that has been enjoyed by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is featured at Universal Studios Orlando, and of course centers around the world of Harry Potter.

As E Online mentions, rather than focusing on the magic of Harry Potter, the Hunger Games theme park would likely give fans the opportunity to meet actors dressed as some of their favorite colorful characters, learn some archery like Katniss did, and possibly even learn how to help lead a rebellion against the tyrannical President Snow.

Would you want to go to a Hunger Games theme park? What should it include? Discuss here.

It could also be set up with the 12 different districts and let people tour the area, with the districts being set up the way they are in the books. Of course, these are all speculations, and what will come of the Hunger Games theme park is completely left up to the imaginations of the fans of the books for now. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Catching Fire on November 22.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Sports New Pixie Hair Cut

If you have ‘liked’ the Jennifer Lawrence fan page on Facebook, you may have noticed as you were scrolling through your newsfeed this morning that she had posted a photo of herself with a new haircut, a cut very different that her usual long hair.

Shortly after, photos popped up on various websites of the star with her new hairdo. Lawrence now has a very short, pixie haircut.

The first thing that popped into many people’s mind was what will Lawrence do when playing Katniss Everdeen in the next Hunger Games movie. Katniss always sports a long blonde braid, which was perfect and easy for Lawrence to create when she had long hair.

The next time we see Lawrence as Katniss, perhaps she will be wearing a wig, if her hair is not grown out enough by the time filming begins.

As if the hair update was not enough news from Jennifer Lawrence, she then went on to amaze fans by attending the Global Google+ Fan Day Q&A, along with other actors from The Hunger Games, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, along with director Francis Lawrence.

According to E!, at the Q&A today, the actors were asked about their most favorite memory they have from filming the Hunger Games.

“Hutcherson recalled a long day shooting at the convention center in Georgia, saying, ‘That was one of my first times on set with Woody [Harrelson] and we were just running around acting like total idiots while you guys were trying to film. It was so much fun.’ ‘We were drunk,’ Lawrence laughed. ‘That was fun. That was the first time I’ve ever drank at work.’ Hutcherson quipped, ‘It was the first, but it wasn’t the last!’ Drinking aside, director Francis Lawrence says that Jen and Josh aren’t the only troublemakers on set. ‘It’s usually Jen and Josh and Woody, the trio,’ Lawrence said when asked who’s the most difficult.”

The second Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, is scheduled to hit theaters soon.

  • Hunger Games Finale Will Be Split Into Two Separate Films

“The Hunger Games” finale “Mockingjay” will be apparently be split into two features, continuing in the Hollywood tradition of milking popular novel adaptations for as much money as humanly possible. Sure, it may provide ravenous fans with more “Hunger Games”-related content found in the book itself, but, more than likely, it’s just Lionsgate’s way of milking as much profit from the franchise as humanly possible. Hey, it worked for “Harry Potter” and “Twilight”, so why wouldn’t in work for “The Hunger Games”? You can’t blame them for trying.

According to MTV, the first installment of “Mockingjay” will arrive into cineplexes on November 14th, 2014. The second part will find its way into darkened theaters almost a year later; the film isn’t scheduled to arrive until November 20th, 2015. In other words, you’re going to have to wait quite a while to see the epic cinematic finale to this wildly popular series. Watery-eyed fanatics, take heart: Hollywood.com is reporting that “Catching Fire”, the sequel to “The Hunger Games”, will hit theaters on November 22nd, 2013. At least that one is a little closer.

Speaking of “Catching Fire”, it’s recently been reported that “Mission: Impossible III” villain Philip Seymour Hoffman will tackle the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in the forthcoming sequel. If you haven’t read the books, then chances are you’re unfamiliar with Hoffman’s character. That said, the less you know about the role he plays in the story, the better. For fear of spoiling anything for those who’ve yet to experience the tale for themselves, I’ll refrain from expounding further.

In other “Hunger Games” casting news, “Sucker Punch” alumni Jena Malone has been offered the role of Johanna Mason, though, at this moment in time, she has not been officially hired for the part. Malone is a fine actress — her turn in “The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys” are proof of her worth — and I think she’ll make a fine addition to the cast.

Unfamiliar with “The Hunger Games”? Take a look at the trailer for the flick below. For those of you who are waiting for the DVD/Blu-ray to find its way onto retail shelves, your wait is almost over; the flick will arrive on home video on August 18th, 2012.
