  • Rachel Bradshaw: Was Husband Rob Bironas’ Death Caused By Road Rage?

As the daughter of NFL legend Terry Bradshaw, Rachel Bradshaw seemed to have come full circle with her marriage to Rob Bironas earlier this year. However, the nightmare of the sudden death of the former Tennessee Titans kicker began for Bradshaw on Saturday night when her husband slammed into a ditch at around 11 PM on September 20.

According to police records, Bradshaw didn’t know that Bironas had left their home in Nashville on Saturday night. Her husband had wished her good night at around 10:30 PM after watching a movie with Bradshaw and a female friend, she reportedly told a police officer. However, when Bradshaw went to check on her husband, he was not in his room. She consulted with relatives before calling the police and reporting him missing.

Metro Nashville Police said that Bradshaw’s husband had lost control of his vehicle on a curve less than a mile from his home on Saturday night. Several witnesses claimed that Bironas had tried to run them off the road on separate occasions. One woman who called police on Saturday night to report the crash supposedly handed the phone to another woman who claimed that the driver of the white SUV had tried to run her and her husband off the road.

Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said that Bironas, who was the driver of said white SUV, had swerved back and placed himself behind the couple, revving his engine threateningly. “Then the White SUV accelerated away at a high rate of speed. [The couple] paused a few moments, continued traveling on Battery Lane and came upon the crash,” Aaron added. Two students reported that Bironas had done the same thing to them earlier that night.

Bironas was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police reported no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene of the crash.

  • 1971 Disappearance Of Two Teenage Girls May Have Finally Been Solved

The 1971 disappearance of two teenage girls from Vermillion, South Dakota hasn’t been on the public radar for more than 40 years. After all, even the families of the two girls would have given up after not hearing anything for more than four decades. Now those same family members may be able to find closure if remains found this month indeed belonged to the girls.

News 4 KTIV is reporting that South Dakota authorities have scheduled a press conference for this afternoon in which they will discuss remains found last year. The remains were found in a Studebaker pulled from a creek after flooding followed by a drought unveiled the decades-old car. The remains were consistent with the story of how the two girls, Pam Jackson and Cheryl Miller, disappeared in 1971 after leaving for a party in the same car. Not wanting to leave anything up to chance, however, the authorities had the remains examined by forensic experts at the University of North Texas.

Generally speaking, the family and authorities assume foul play when persons have been missing for this long. That appears to not have been the case in this particular incident though. The authorities report that the car was in third gear when it was recovered from the creek. In other words, the missing girls were likely involved in a tragic car accident that left them at the bottom of a creek. Of course, we can’t know for sure until the authorities release the forensic results. The remains could even belong to somebody else entirely, but all evidence at this point points to the remains belonging to the two girls.

Here’s raw video of the car after it was pulled from the creek bed. The visible damage makes it appear that whoever was in the vehicle did not live after impact:

If you want more details on the original case, here’s a TomoNews reenactment of the night the two girls vanished and the subsequent discovery of the car:

Update: Argus Leader Crime Reporter John Hult was at the press conference where the authorities announced that the two girls died in a car accident. There was no evidence of foul play or alcohol:

  • Slippery Roads Cause 61-Vehicle Pileup At Mendota Bridge [Video]

The icy roads caused 61 vehicles to pileup on the westbound lane of Minnesota’s Highway 55 on Monday. The accident occurred in the afternoon during icy conditions.

According to State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske, what ignited the incident were two vehicles that lost control and crashed due to the weather conditions. Afterwards, a semi skidded towards the first two vehicles, causing all the westbound lanes to be blocked.

More than four dozen vehicles then added to the chain reaction as they crashed into each other, leaving the highway in a litter of vehicles.

Roeske tallied the final count of vehicles at 61.

Fortunately, none of the drivers and passengers involved in the pileup was majorly harmed. Only one person was brought to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The damages to vehicles behind the semi were also reported to be minor.

Joe Mueller was present during the pileup and was able to capture the incident on video. He tried to help the motorists who were involved in the accident, asking them if they were okay, and helping them cross the barrier to get away from the site of the incident. The video shows the length of the highway and cars slipping and sliding, adding to the pileup.

As a result of the crash, the Mendota Bridge had to be closed. It re-opened at 2:45 p.m., nearly two hours after the first crash.

According to Dispatcher Don Zenanko, the area is treacherous. He also said that people need to be extra cautious and remember how to drive safely in winter. The roads were not deep in snow, but there was just enough snow to cause some areas to be slippery.

Aside from the 61-vehicle pileup, there were also reports of four other car accidents that occurred on the same day in nearby locations.

  • Mindy Tran Sacrifices Herself as a ‘Speed Bump’ to Save Daughters in Moving Car

On Thursday March 6, a Massachusetts mom literally laid down her life to save her twin daughters.

Mindy Tran, 22, is recovering in the hospital after using her body as a speed bump to stop her moving vehicle from rolling into traffic.

The mother of two told WCVB-TV that she backed her Honda Accord into the garage of her apartment and remembers putting it in park. However, when she briefly stepped away to go lock her door, she noticed her vehicle was moving and her daughters were moving with it.

I was like, ‘What is going on?’ And I see my daughter sitting there in the back seat and of course my first instinct is, ‘I have to push the car back into the driveway,’” she said.

After noticing that her daughters were still strapped in the car, Tran says she immediately reacted and threw herself in front of the vehicle to stop it from going into the busy street.

“I had to use myself as a speed bump to slow it down enough for one of my neighbors to get in and completely stop the car,” Tran said.

A nearby neighbor ran to the rescue and retrieved the girls out of the vehicle.

Firefighters responded to the incident and were able to “stabilized the car with wooden blocks and then used an airbag to lift the car off Tran.”(image)

Tran says that she doesn’t consider her actions heroic. After all, she was just being a mother.

“My daughters are my everything, my everything, and I don’t want to see them in the hospital, and I knew at that time it was either mine or there’s,” she told WCVB-TV.

Tran confirms that she cannot walk, as she suffers from a crushed left knee and a dislocated right leg. She expects to be in the hospital for the next few weeks while she goes through surgery and physical therapy, but is more than certain she will walk again.

The two-year-old twins, Sydney and Saleen, are said to be doing just fine. Sources say that they will celebrate their birthday on April 13 at the hospital with Tran as she goes through recovery.

The young mother had reportedly just moved from a shelter to an apartment in Lawrence, Mass., days before the incident occurred in hopes to start a new life for her family.

  • Coto De Caza Crash Kills 22-Year-Old Driver

Franz Nalezny, a 22-year-old student at Cal State Fullerton, died instantly Friday night when he lost control of his Mazda3 Hatchback and crashed into the side of a Coto De Caza home. California Highway Patrol authorities say that Franz was driving at a high speed on Vista Del Verde, a main road in the community, when his car struck a curb and became airborne, launching 50 feet in the air before hitting a tree and landing on the wall of a home on Cherry Hills Drive. The car scraped the building, but did not injure the residents – a mother and a daughter, who were inside watching TV at the time of the crash.

Franz was not far from his family’s home on Lexington Way, where he spent most of his weekends away from his college dorm. Crash scene investigators are still establishing what exactly caused the accident, as there are no skid marks on the road, or obvious signs as to what caused the car to lose control. There is still no word on whether alcohol was involved. The car remained perched on the wall of the home for several hours until an Orange County rescue team arrived with a crane to lower the car.

“We’re really trying to encourage people to slow down,” Orange County Sheriff Concialdi said. “Crashes can happen easily if you’re not paying attention.”

This crash isn’t the first major accident to affect the Coto de Caza community. Rianna Woosley, a local high school student, was killed back in 2005 when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree. Residents of the community have reportedly struggled for years with speeding on their private roads, which has posted speed limits of only up to 45mph.

  • I-94 Pile-Up Leads To Fatalities, Road Still Closed

Scott Collins, 17, of Chesterton, Indiana just missed being caught up in a potentially fatal collision on I-94. He and three teenage companions witnessed a series of pile-ups occur behind them on Thursday, which began with a number of semitrailers sliding on the snowy roadway. The incident took place near Michigan City and approximately 60 miles away from Chicago.

Says Collins about what he witnessed, “One of the semis started sliding and I think it jackknifed in the middle of the road and collided with another semi. After that happened, multiple semis locked up.” He admits he and his friends were “pretty nervous” they would be caught up in the ensuing chaos, which thankfully didn’t happen.

    Others were not as fortunate.

The massive pile-up involved over 40 vehicles, including 18 semitrailers. The cars were crushed among the sliding semis resulted in more than 20 people being hospitalized with injuries. Indiana State Police Sgt. Ann Wojas says at least one person had to be air-lifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. 3 individuals and a pet dog were killed as a result of the crash.

Two of the individuals as identified by LaPorte County coroner John Sullivan were 67-year-old Thomas Wolma and his wife Marilyn, 65, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. According to their son, the couple had been returning home from caring for a family member in living in Wisconsin.

The third person killed was 65-year old Jerry Dalrymple of Chicago, Illinois. His dog also died in the crash.

The accident resulted in backed up traffic on Thursday afternoon into the evening as traffic was forced to a standstill, leaving confused drivers to sit in freezing temperatures for hours.

The eastbound lane of I-94 remained closed on Friday morning. Cpl. Larry Koebcke said that crews were continuing to work to clean up the scene of the pile-up and officials are uncertain how long the cleanup effort will actually take and when the lanes will reopen to traffic.

  • Bobby Bowden’s Grandson Killed In Car Accident

T.J. Bowden, the grandson of Bobby Bowden, died recently along with a friend, from a car accident. He was a recent graduate of Florida State University, where his grandfather, Bobby Bowden is known as the former legendary coach.

Bobby Bowden’s grandson was one of two men that were killed when their car flipped over into a ditch off of a central Florida road.

T.J Bowden was 23-years-old, and while him and one of his friends died in the crash, a third passenger in the car was able to be rescued.

In a statement issued from T.J.’s grandfather, Bobby Bowden said “Our whole family had just celebrated Christmas together in Panama City, as well as celebrated T.J.’s graduation from Florida State just three weeks ago. We will cherish those last memories together with T.J. forever.”

T.J. is the son of Jeff Bowden, who has asked everyone to keep their family in their prayers. A trash collector was the one who reported the accident, and found the submerged car at 7:47 a.m. on Thursday. The car was not visible from the road, and at first, the sheriff’s office dive team was not able to find any survivors.

Several hours later, the dive team and paramedics heard noises coming from the car, and were able to rescue Lewis Edwards, the only survivor of the crash, and found the other two bodies afterwards.

The crash is still being investigated, and while the cause is unknown, the sheriff’s office is reporting that alcohol may have been a factor. The car crashed through a fence, went down an embankment and came to a rest upside down in the water, from what can be determined from the way the car ended up in the water.

Bobby Bowden was a coach for Florida State for many years, an span of time that stretched from 1976 to 2009. He holds the Division I record for career wins and bowl victories and won two national championships.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Bobby Bowden has lost a grandson to a car accident, and in 2004, Bowden Madden, his 15-year-old grandson, and former son-in-law, were killed when their car was hit by a utility truck.

  • Skyway Accident Manila: Speeding Bus Kills At least 22

At least 22 people were killed Sunday morning in Manila, Philippines after a passenger bus plunged off of an elevated highway.

After falling 32 feet below, the bus landed on a van in suburban Paranaque city.

Although the horrific accident is still under investigation, the elevated road, also referred to as Skyway, was allegedly wet and slippery. However, there have been assumptions of the fate leading to the accident, which involves a mixture of rain, speeding and sleep.

Eyewitness Irene Sisperes told DZMM radio that it was dark, rainy and at that time the bus was traveling 62 mph.

Police have reported that most of the passengers of the Don Mariano commuter bus were asleep as they were on the way to La Pacita, their final destination in Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to a report in the Manila Bulletin, the passengers weren’t the only ones sleepy. (image)

“Yves Chiapco, special liaison to the office of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Executive Director Roberto Cabrera, said some of the victims they interviewed revealed that the driver of the Don Mariano Bus appeared to be sleepy.”

Accounts from survivors and witnesses said the driver was speeding when he lost control, hitting the wall of the Skyway.

“The bus suddenly swerved along the Skyway before it lost control and plunged to the West Service Road,” said survivor Pepe Padilla.

Rescuers arrived several minutes following the accident, scurrying to pull victims out of the dismantled bus before 6 a.m. rush hour. Most of the victims did not make it to the hospital, so the rescue team resorted to aligning the bodies on the street with covered newspapers.

The driver of the van was killed instantly. The bus driver, Carmelo Calascas, survived and was rushed to the local hospital.

Supt. Elizabeth Velasquez of the police’s Highway Patrol Group (HPG explained that Calascas will “face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and multiple damage to properties.”

As the ongoing investigation continues, authorities have suspended the entire fleet (78) of Don Mariano Bus Company and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered that all drivers go through retraining.

  • Fast & Furious 7: What Happens Next?

In the aftermath of Paul Walker’s tragic car accident on Saturday, Universal executives quickly held a conference call earlier today to discuss what many have started speculating: what will happen to Fast & Furious 7? Filming for the action movie had been underway since September, and filming was set to resume later this week in Atlanta. The actors were on break for the Thanksgiving holiday when Walker returned home to Southern California and the accident occurred.

“The movie will be delayed but won’t be scrapped,” says The Hollywood Reporter. The movie was set to release on July 11, 2014, and Walker had reportedly signed on for two more films. Although, TMZ reports that the actors are too distraught to carry on with the project currently. “No one wants to even think about the movie…period,” the TMZ source says. Among those distraught is Fast 7 director James Wan, who expressed his immense grief on Twitter:

Variety speculates that a major rewrite will now be inevitable, as it seems most of the footage shot thus far has been pricey action sequences and not a lot of face time, including scenes set in Abu Dhabi.

The film is also the first in the franchise not being directed by Justin Lin, who bowed out due to the “expedited schedule” to make the July 11th release date – a date that will no longer be kept. A new release date isn’t likely to be announced until the studio decides how to handle Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner. “Universal not only needs to strike the right balance between the nature of the street racing franchise and the manner of Walker’s death, but also find a tasteful exit for his character,” Variety writes.

Walker’s next film, Hours, which is about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, is still slated to release in selected theaters on December 13th.

  • Josh Romney: Saving Lives and Bragging About it

Josh Romney saved some lives, but he is also the victim of scorn today all over social media. No, not because he is the son of a losing presidential candidate, but because of his flawless execution of “The Humblebrag.”

The Humblebrag has probably existed since the first human interaction, but its use has been accelerated by the “look at me” tendencies encouraged by social media.

On Thanksgiving, Josh Romney performed an exceptional Humblebrag that may not be topped for a while. He incorporated the use of super-heroism and the current holiday along with an candid exclusive photograph for the Flawless Humblebrag Execution.

View it in its full glory here:

Note how Romney casually leans on the car door with a winning smile as we slowly realize that there is actually a car in a house.

In all honesty, I am sure that the people Romney saved from this car don’t mind the Humblebrag at all; at least he didn’t just take a picture and speed away to post it online for retweets as some have done.

If the Humblebrag has now intrigued you, get your fill at the HumbleBrag account dedicated solely to boastful humility.

David Beckham Involved In Car Crash

David Beckham was recently involved in a car crash near his home. Beckham is a former English soccer player, and recent star for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Before moving to the United States and playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, David Beckham was one of the top players for English national team, and was a favorite among many fans watching world cup matches.

His son, Brooklyn was in the car with him at the time. Brooklyn is 14-years-old, and ironically, this is not the first time that the father and son have been in a car accident together. The two of them were also involved in a multiple-car pile-up on a freeway in Los Angeles in 2011

The incident occurred when he was exiting the driveway of his Beverly Hills home with his son on Saturday, and reportedly ran into another SUV. Beckham was driving a black 2013 Range Rover, and while the front bumper and hood were damaged, he and his son did not appear to have suffered any injuries.

In addition to Brooklyn, David Beckham and his wife Victoria have three other children. The Beckham family had just returned from the gym minutes before the accident. David dropped the rest of the family off, before leaving with Brooklyn and colliding with the oncoming car.

Cops were called to the scene shortly after the incident occurred. However, no one was hurt, and there was for the drivers to exchange information.

Since retiring from the sport of soccer, David Beckham has enjoyed having more time with his family. He has admitted to doing the majority of the cooking at home, while putting to good use the skills he learned while taking a six month culinary course in Italy. He was able to take the course while playing for the club team AC Milan.

  • 3 Teens Killed In Indiana Crash; 3 Others Injured

Traffic accidents are the number one killer of teens in the U.S. One small town in Indiana has experienced this unfortunate statistic one too many times.

The AP is reporting that three teenagers from the small town of Versailles, Indiana died this week after a collision involving two trucks at an intersection. The teenagers – 18-year-old Samantha Hanson, 17-year-old Timothy Bowman and 18-year-old Jacob Vogel – died at the scene. There were three other teens involved in the crash, and they’ve been taken to local hospitals.

The teens were at a day-long FFA event, but decided to head out at 9:30 a.m. Shortly after, the trucks collided after both reportedly ran a four-way stop. The police say the Dodge truck in the accident hit the Ford F-250 broadside thus causing the deadly crash.

Versailles has been no stranger to tragedy over the past few months as multiple teenagers have lost their lives on the roads. The report states that 18-year-old died while texting and driving, and a 15-year-old was killed in an ATV crash. The small town also lost a popular teacher in a plane crash.

  • 50 Cent Accident: Rapper Released From the Hospital, Doing Fine

After undergoing extensive tests on his spine and neck following a car accident on the Long Island Expressway last night, rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is doing fine and has been released from the hospital.

According to his website, ThisIs50.com, “50 Cent was in a bad accident tonight as his bullet-proof SUV was rear-ended by a Mack truck on the LIE in NYC. He was put on a stretcher and taken to the nearest Queens hospital where they are currently running tests on his neck and back.”

I love how they make sure to mention that the SUV was bulletproof. That did not help this situation. I know 50 is “really hard and everyone wants to kill him”, but come on. This kind of image buffering during a serious accident makes me wonder if it wasn’t all staged to solidify 50 Cent’s image that he cannot be killed. (Before people start leaving nasty comments: No I don’t believe that’s what really happened.)

50 Cent was being chauffeured by his driver, who was also injured in the crash, but both have now been released and are expected to make a rapid recovery. As it turns out, the rapper only had “minor neck and back injuries” according to a representative.
