FDA Finds No Direct Link Between Cell Phones and Cancer

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has released its findings after reviewing a decade of studies, saying it has not found no proof of a link between cell phones and cancer.

The FDA analyzed “peer-reviewed in vivo (animal) and epidemiological studies published from January 1, 2008 to August 1, 2018 for in vivo studies, and from January 1, 2008 to May 8, 2018 for epidemiological studies.” The goal was to determine what, if any, effect radiofrequency radiation (RFR) had on human beings and whether it was responsible for an increased risk of cancer.

The FDA said there were approximately 125 articles considered most relevant to the analysis, none of which adequately demonstrated a link between the level of cell phone RFR and health risks. In fact, the reports says that “based on the FDA’s ongoing evaluation, the available epidemiological and cancer incidence data continues to support the Agency’s determination that there are no quantifiable adverse health effects in humans caused by exposures at or under the current cell phone exposure limits.”

In spite of what seems to be good news, the FDA does express concern that small subsets of the population who are already predisposed toward developing tumors may be at a greater risk and suffer more harm from RFR than the general population. The FDA recommends studies shift toward those population subsets.

In the meantime, the report summarizes its conclusions by stating: “Existing epidemiological evidence indicates that if any risk does exist, it is extremely low compared to both the natural incidence of the disease and known controllable risk factors. As further research is conducted, we will continue to monitor the available information.”

Rob Ford: Toronto’s Most Notorious And Most Beloved Mayor Succumbs To Cancer At 46

Former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, who was often ridiculed for his unique political style and brash attitude, succumbed to cancer at age 46. Ford died on Tuesday after an 18-month battle with pleomorphic liposarcoma, an aggressive type of cancer.

“With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the Ford family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, husband and father,” his bereaved family said in a statement. “A dedicated man of the people, Councillor Ford spent his life serving the citizens of Toronto.”

He was first diagnosed with liposarcoma in 2014 while running for a reelection which caused him to drop out of the race. Instead, he ran for councilor in Ward 2 Etobicoke North, winning it by a landslide. Ford declared he was cancer free in September but was hospitalized again in October after two new tumors had been found in his bladder.

Rob Ford gained popularity among the masses for his unpretentious leadership style. However, he repeatedly found himself in numerous scandals involving drugs, threats of violence and alcohol. After a video showing Ford smoking crack cocaine in his office surfaced in 2014, the former Toronto mayor faced his addiction and said he was entering rehab. Video footage and photographs showing Ford intoxicated in public also emerged.

Despite the scandals about him, Rob Ford was loved by many. Thousands of supporters have shared their prayers for his recovery on a website set up by his family during his battle with cancer.

Toronto mayor John Tory paid tribute to the late politician saying, “His time in City Hall included moments of kindness, of generosity to his council colleagues and real efforts to do what he thought was best for Toronto.”

Rob Ford’s brother, Doug Ford, also expressed his sadness on his demise: “My heart is ripped out. I loved Rob so much, I took care of him and protected him from the day he was born. I miss him so much. He was my best friend.”

  • Joey and Rory Feek Talk About Their Most Passionate Project Yet

Joey and Rory are busy working on their upcoming album, and country singer Joey Feek has revealed that it will be their most passionate project yet.

Joey, who has been battling Stage IV cervical cancer, opened up to People magazine about her love for husband Rory Feek, and that the album Hymns & Stories That Are Important to Us is a tribute to their 13 years of marriage, how they met, and how they have kept their love for each other alive.

Joey shared to People the first time she saw Rory: “Rory was singing ‘In the Round’ at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville with three other songwriters.”

“I was just one of dozens of people in the audience that night. From the first song Rory sang, I fell head over heels for him. I didn’t even know him, but something inside me said, ‘You’re going to marry that man and spend the rest of your lives together’” she continued.

It was a whirlwind romance for Joey and Rory. They tied the knot two months later and in 2014, their daughter Indiana was born.

As Joey bravely fights cancer, Rory has been documenting his wife’s struggles in his This Life I Live blog. He said writing and sharing little stories about their lives has been therapeutic for him. Sharing their pain through his blog helps him “sort out what I feel and how to respond to the twists and turns that life has taken us on.”

Rory also chronicles their everyday life through their photos. He was able to capture special moments with her including their “last Christmas together,” and her heartbreaking separation with best friend Julie.

“Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music,” Rory shared. “I can’t help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey’s memory alive in Indy’s heart.”

Joey and Rory Feek are releasing their album on Valentine’s Day.

Joey wept as her friend prepared to leave. With her health deteriorating, the country singer was “inconsolable” as she felt that this could be their last time together.

When asked what was wrong, Joey said: “I don’t think I will ever see her again.”

Julie, whom Rory described in his blog as an “angel from heaven,” decided to extend her stay with the couple, cancelling her flight to Oregon to be with the family.

The two women have been good friends for eight years. As one of the country duo’s most avid fans, Julie did not only help run the duo’s fan club, but also poured tremendous support for the couple after Joey Feek was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer, even going as far as to shave her head for the country singer.  In the last several months, she has been travelling back and forth between Indiana and Washington to help the family.

  • Joey And Rory Feek Share Spiritual Reflections As They Prepare For Goodbyes

Country singer Joey and Rory Feek shared a heartwarming blog post on Saturday, updating the public of the former’s deteriorating health.

“Here I sit beside my dying wife,” he wrote on his website. “I don’t say those words lightly. As a matter of fact, I haven’t said them at all. But my beautiful bride has said them to me in these couple of days.”

He also revealed that Joey told him that she is not afraid to die. Joey’s health continues to worsen and the morphine dosage has quadrupled this week in order to relieve her of the pain.

Rory also recalled the time they did a music video of their 2012 song “When I’m Gone,” a song written by Nashville songwriter Sandy Lawrence for her dying mother. Joey and Rory picked up the song back in 2012 when they were recording a new album and wanted to help Lawrence’s career.

This Heartbreaking Ballad by Joey and Rory is Part of Their Upcoming Album

“Some call it ‘life imitating art.’ I don’t. I call it God,” was Rory’s reflection.

“Am I angry at the irony of the song? No. How could I be? How many men who are losing the woman they love get a gift like that? None that I know of,” he wrote on his blog.

“When I’m Gone” will be a part of their compilation, Hymns That Are Important To Us.

Joey and Rory said the song is perfect as they’ve known that they would eventually say their goodbyes to each other. He added that this song is God’s way of reminding him of Joey’s “beautiful life and heart and voice…” and he knew that “she would only be a ‘click’ away.”

In the midst of all the shock and mourning that has taken place after the sudden death of rock icon David Bowie, his loyal wife, the Somali-American model Iman is now in the spotlight.

Bowie – David Jones in real life – succumbed to liver cancer at the age of 69 on Sunday, after being diagnosed 18 months earlier. Just two days before his untimely passing, he celebrated his birthday and released his latest album, Blackstar.

Signs of his secret struggle with cancer are now seen through the Twitter page of Iman, who posted several cryptic messages a few days before Bowie’s death.

Iman regularly posts inspirational quotes with the hashtag, “imandaily” and on Saturday, she shared a particularly poignant one.

“Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory,” the 60-year-old model and cosmetics mogul tweeted.

The next day, she posted another moving message that said, “The struggle is real, but so is God,” along with the caption “Rise.” The next day, David Bowie passed away.

Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid and David Bowie had been married for 24 years. A feature done by E! chronicles the their love story and lasting marriage, which is not quite typical of celebrity couples.

The articles describes how Bowie instantly fell in love with Iman when they met for the first time at a dinner party. The Somali-born model, on the other hand, was not too keen about hooking up with a rock star, especially having experienced being married and going through a divorce.

A determined David Bowie proceeded to pursue her until she fell in love with him, too. “David changed my mind. He wooed me,” Iman said in a 2014 interview with The Guardian.

Iman and David Bowie share a 15-year-old daughter named Alexandria Zahra. The Ziggy Stardust singer also has a 44-year-old son named Duncan with his first wife Angela Barnett.

This year has been tough for Joey and Rory Feek, but the duo had a wonderful Christmas together with other family members.

Rory took to the couple’s official Facebook page to share the happiness he, Joey, and the rest of their family experienced during the holidays.

...celebrating Christmas with Joey, surrounded by family. The best gift of all. Thank you Lord. Posted by Joey and Rory on Friday, December 25, 2015

Thank you Lord.” Joey and Rory have been going strong ever since Joey Feek was diagnosed with Stage IV cervical cancer since 2014. She stopped all treatments in October and checked into a hospice care in November. Rory has been documenting their family life on his personal blog and on Facebook. In the blog, the country singer used The Gruffalo, a children’s book, as a metaphor to describe his family’s Christmas. The book tells the story of a mouse that bravely traveled the frightening dark woods by making up a tale about a creature called a “gruffalo.” “That’s a little like our holidays here [this] year,” he wrote. “In early November, Christmas seemed still so far away. And the prognosis was clear that there was a good chance Joey wasn’t going to be with us then and that this Christmas was going to be a difficult one to get through.” He added that like the mouse, they made up their own “gruffalos.” They believe their Christmas would be wonderful despite his wife’s illness. In November, Rory shared that Joey was hoping to celebrate the holidays with them or see their daughter’s second birthday in February. “Christmas had come and Joey was not only here with us, but she was doing well and we all had an amazing day together,” Rory wrote as he shared his gratitude for having this little Christmas miracle. Check it out:

Hayek recently gave some advice to young girls at the Variety Power of Women event.

“The most important thing to say to the girls is to not try to be like the other girls. Not to try to fit in, but to try to really be profound thinkers that are excited about their differences and explore what they are and who they are and what can come out of the new,” she said.

“I think the voice of women can change the world, but we don’t know our voice,” she said. “We’ve never really investigated. We’ve been too busy for many, many decades and generations, trying to operate within systems that were designed by men … I don’t think we really have tapped into our potential or our own creativity.”

The lawsuit claims that “in Nov. 2013, SAG sent the premium invoice to management firm Tanner Mainstain for Plaintiff’s medical insurance coverage for the year 2014. However, Defendants ignored it, failed to pay it (without informing Plaintiff) and then promptly terminated their relationship with [Doherty] effective Feb. 7, 2014.”

“Jim and I have been giving Real Housewives or New Jersey a lot of thought and given the current state of affairs regarding our personal lives and the direction of the show, we officially decided to move on. • Vicki Gunvalson And Brooks Ayers Both Speak About The Real Reason Behind Their Split

The highlight of this season’s Real Housewives of Orange County is arguably the sudden breakup of reality star Vicki Gunvalson and businessman Brooks Ayers. So much controversy hounded their relationship that one would think that this could be the best decision for both of them.

Ayers sat down with Melanie Bromley of E! News and answered questions about the downfall of his romance with Gunvalson. The biggest issue of their relationship was his alleged battle with cancer, a storyline that many of Gunvalson’s friends on the show refuse to believe.

Ayers was adamant about his medical condition and insisted that he never faked it. He also shared that he and Gunvalson attended couple’s therapy in the hopes of saving their relationship.

When asked to set the record straight about these lying allegations, Ayers answered, “Absolutely I’m sticking by that.”

“Unfortunately, I wish it wasn’t true. It would be a lot easier if I didn’t have cancer just to be honest with you. The daily grind, the routines of reminding yourself that I’m sick and I need to do certain things and not do certain things,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gunvalson chatted with Andy Cohen on his show, Watch What Happens Live, where she was also grilled about the real reason behind her breakup with Ayers.

“There were a lot of things. I just think that the conflict with Briana, and him and I and him being from the South, he really wanted to go back to the South, and I just think the stress of the show, and he’s sick, and at the end of the day it just didn’t work anymore,” she answered.

She added that while a long-term relationship with Ayers did not seem likely, their short-term romance was “amazing.”

Vicki Gunvalson also commented about her friendships with her RHOC cast mates. She said that she felt like they were “not there for me” and that she didn’t feel the support she needed from them while she was going through her tumultuous relationship with Ayers.

  • Dolly Parton: I Do Not Have Stomach Cancer, But I Did Have Kidney Stones

Dolly Parton: I Do Not Have Stomach Cancer, But I Did Have Kidney Stones

Dolly Parton wants her fans to know that all is well, and she does not have stomach cancer.

The National Enquirer published an article this week that claimed the country singer was rushed to the hospital with kidney stones, but that those were the least of her medical problems. The publication claimed that Parton is battling stomach cancer.

Parton confirmed that she did have kidney stones, but says the cancer part is baloney. She posted this on her official website:

“It is true that I had kidney stones. I had them removed three weeks ago and I am doing just fine! I am back to work and last week I was at Dollywood filming parts for my new movie ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ which premieres December 10th on NBC. With the 30th Anniversary of Dollywood, I did a full week of activities promoting my new DreamMore Resort’s opening. There is absolutely no truth at all that I have stomach cancer. I love and appreciate everyone’s concern.”

Apparently, the 69-year-old Parton is as busy as ever.

    From her website:

Just days after recovering from kidney stones, Dolly made her way to Dollywood to finish production of her new movie premiering December 10, 2015, on NBC. Dollywood was bustling with lights, cameras and lots of action. Between takes at the park, Dolly rushed back to her bus and headed off to Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort for interviews and press promotions related to the resort’s recent opening. When the set was ready back at Dollywood, Dolly hopped back on the bus and dashed back to the park to finish filming.

Through the hectic schedule, it was pretty much business as usual for an ever-busy Dolly. She handled it all with grace and poise and even managed to squeeze in time to send a surprise message to the University of Tennessee’s Pride of the Southland Marching Band thanking them for their halftime tribute to her.

So if you’re a Dolly Parton fan, this should assuage your concerns.

Parton’s new movie, Coat of Many Colors, premieres on December 10th on NBC.

  • Vicki Gunvalson Dumps Boyfriend Brooks Ayers, He May Have Lied About Having Cancer

Viewers can still expect to see Vicki Gunvalson and Brooks Ayers as a couple in season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County although their on-and-off relationship has finally ended.

Vicki and Brooks had been together for four years but the relationship had always been tumultuous. Vicki’s daughter, Briana, and co-star Tamra Judge questioned Brooks even when he and Vicki had just started dating.

Reportedly, Vicki finally broke up with Brooks because of his false medical records indicating he has cancer. He was accused of falsifying documents of his diagnosis and treatment.

An oncologist who reviewed Brooks’ medical records added that the papers were not an authentic proof of cancer.

But despite their recent break up, Vicki is still defending Brooks and is claiming he does have cancer and their breakup was due to their differences.

“We were unequally yoked on many levels,” Vicki said recently. “We looked at our futures and realized we were good for right now, but not for a lifetime. We haven’t talked for a long time.”

In fact, Vicki even supported Brooks when he was dealing with his cancer after they broke up for the first time in 2013.

“[Cancer] either will tear you apart as a couple or bring you together. And with us, without a doubt, it’s brought us together,” Brooks told Us Weekly.

Vicki and Brooks’ lie about his alleged cancer infuriated Meghan Edmonds, which she shared in her blog post. People also started to question if Vicki knew what Brooks had done.

“It blows my mind that Vicki continues to relentlessly defend herself and Brooks,” Meghan said. “All of the evidence is there yet she’s completely throwing religion in our faces as if we are bad people. How can she possibly keep portraying herself as a victim when all of this evidence is adding up against them?”

Vicki’s replied to her statement by saying, “I have never lied about cancer or one’s diagnosis nor would I ever. I fear God and the truth will always set one free.”

And a lot was revealed about Shannen Doherty, who was the reputed bad girl of the show. According to the film, Doherty displayed a lot of bad behavior that her co-stars had difficulty dealing with. Doherty often got herself into fights, some with her co-stars and some with other people. She has been arrested and was always late for filming. At first, Tori Spelling defended her tardiness because she was her friend, but Doherty made her biggest mistake when she dared to threaten Spelling. Doherty allegedly warned Spelling to “watch her back” after arriving late on set again. After that incident, Doherty was never seen again in the series. Also, Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth were shown having a fight in a carpark because of a red dress they both wanted to wear. In the next scene, Doherty was arrested for picking a fight in the club.

The police officer even said to her, “Do I know who you are? Yes. You are a big pain in the ass. Everybody thinks that.”

Ian Ziering also tried to talk some sense into her, “You’re like a shark, you’re like a tornado – you’re like a mixture between a shark and a tornado.”

At the end of the scene, Doherty crashes Ziering’s sports car and Ziering predicts the creation of Sharknado the movie.

While Shannen Doherty is known for her antagonistic personality, all that aggression cannot seem to subdue her present condition.

Doherty recently revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and might undergo chemotherapy and mastectomy.

Unfortunately, she was let go by her management firm Tanner Mainstain. The firm was allegedly responsible for her medical expenses but failed to pay them, and did not inform the ‘90210’ star.

Doherty has filed a suit against Tanner Mainstain, claiming that her cancer could have been prevented if the firm had just done its job for her.

  • Vanessa Hudgens: Dad Greg Hudgens Has Stage 4 Cancer

Vanessa Hudgens is praying for a miracle. Her dad, Greg Hudgens, has stage 4 cancer.

It was during the 2015 Industry Dance Awards & Cancer Benefit Show held at the Avalon in Hollywood Wednesday that the Gigi star first opened up about her dad’s battle–something she alluded to about three weeks ago via Instagram.

“My daddy and I. Please pray for his healing!!! The more prayers the better,” she captioned her post.

During her acceptance speech Wednesday, Vanessa Hudgens shared that boyfriend Austin Butler lost his mother to cancer.

“Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being,” she said.

“If you would have asked me two years ago what I thought of cancer, I would have said, ‘Man, you know, it sucks. It’s a horrible disease,'” Vanessa Hudgens admitted. “But that’s only because I had not been faced with it personally.”

Like Vanessa Hudgens, many people don’t think much about cancer until they or someone close to them are diagnosed with the disease. She went on to dedicate her award Wednesday to her dad and to Austin Butler’s late mom.

Telling the audience that her award “means a lot, Vanessa Hudgens dedicated it to Greg and Lori, “and to all the families out there who are struggling with this, because it really takes a strong person and a strong family to be able to help those out who are going through this.”

Certainly lots of people are praying for Vanessa Hudgens’ dad in light of her passionate plea.

  • Def Leppard Guitarist’s Cancer Relapse Casts Shadow Over Tour

Def Leppard just launched a US tour sure to satisfy die-hard fans. That fun got a blow yesterday when guitarist Vivian Campbell announced that his Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is back.

“I’m saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned,” Campbell told Def Leppard fans. “However, I’m beyond consolation that its return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while. I’m still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon.

    “My apologies.”

Campbell has fought Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for years. He missed out on Def Leppard’s last tour for the same reason. His slot was filled by Trixter’s Steve Brown, who will carry his banner again on this tour.

In November, 2013, the Def Leppard guitarist told fans that his earlier relapse had shocked him.

“For anyone who knew anything about cancer, they’d probably say, ‘Well, that’s not unusual,'” says Campbell. “But I didn’t. I got my diagnosis in the spring of 2013 when we were doing the Las Vegas residency with Def Leppard. And as soon as we were done with that, I started six months of chemo.”

“And I just kind of naturally assumed you do the chemo, you do a scan at the end of the chemo and it shows that you’re good, and that’s it. But apparently not. It was, like, ninety-something percent gone, and it was what they couldn’t see on the scan that came creeping back. And it came back so fast.”

Back in January, Campbell was cautiously optimistic as Def Leppard geared up for the tour.

“Well, I seem to be in a good spot at the moment. You can never be too certain with these things, ’cause they can come creeping back. But after three rounds of chemo over the last two years, I did a stem-cell transplant in October. And the first PET scan that I did on New Year’s Eve came back really, really good – there’s no sign of the tumors – so I’m hopeful that we’re on the right path. I mean, that’s certainly the way I’ve been thinking.”

“I’m not letting it concern me at all. But continuing for the next few years, I’ll be doing more scans and follow-ups and stuff, just to make sure, but I’m certainly feeling healthy, you know?!”

Def Leppard fans have given an outpouring of support to Campbell.

I'm saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned. However, I'm beyond consolation that it's return will prevent me…
