  • Beyonce Cancels Show Amid Pregnancy Rumors

Pop superstar Beyoncé is currently in the midst of a world tour called “The Mrs. Carter Show.” Despite the fact that an unnamed source close to her and her husband, Jay-Z, has denied it, rumors of the singer being pregnant are beginning to persist. The couple already have one child, a one-year-old daughter named Blue Ivy.

Now, Beyoncé’s health is once again in the spotlight as her tour hits a snag. The singer was scheduled to go on stage tonight in Antwerp, Belgium, but has cancelled the show. According to an Associated Press report, the show was cancelled due to the singer’s “dehydration and exhaustion.” She has reportedly been ordered by doctors to get some rest.

The cancellation was announced via Beyoncé’s Facebook page, where ticket-holders were encouraged to hold on to their tickets for a rescheduled show:

    Beyoncé

    Belgium

Unfortunately tonight’s show has been canceled.

Please keep your tickets for the rescheduled show.

Our sincerest apologies for the late notice and stay tuned for the new show date announcement.

Beyoncé’s world tour is scheduled to hit much of Europe for the rest of May before continuing on to cities in the U.S. and Canada throughout June and July. The singer’s statement to the AP made it clear she is waiting for Doctors’ advice before continuing on with the tour.

  • Bieber Cancels Concert in Portugal

This week has been a tough one for fans of live pop music. First, singer Rihanna this weekend cancelled her show in Boston due to laryngitis. Now, it appears that Justin Bieber has cancelled a concert that was scheduled to take place in Portugal tomorrow, March 12.

CBS News is reporting that Bieber’s second Lisbon, Portugal concert has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Current rumors are pointing to “logistical issues” with unions as the reason fro the concert cancellation. Bieber’s first Lisbon show, scheduled to take place tonight, is still a go and the singer began tweeting about the concert this afternoon:

There doesn’t appear to be any connection between the cancellation and the odd journey that Bieber endured in London last week. After being spotted walking London streets with his shirt off early last week and having shown shown up late for a concert, the pop star went on a Twitter tirade against “rumors” and “fake stories.” Rumors about the star’s “diva-like” behavior persisted, however, as he collapsed during one of his London shows later in the week. Bieber’s European tour will take him through France, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany in the coming weeks.

  • Rihanna Cancels Concert Due to Laryngitis

Rihanna Cancels Concert Due to Laryngitis

TMZ reported this weekend that pop star Rihanna cancelled her scheduled Sunday night concert in Boston. The singer blamed the cancellation on Laryngitis.

Live nation stated that the no-show is doctor’s orders for Rihanna, and that the Boston show will now be rescheduled. The singer is still expected to take the stage in Baltimore on Tuesday as scheduled.

Rihanna used her twitter feed to apologize to her many disappointed fans in Boston. The pop star stated that she was “embarrassed” and “hurt” that she let fans down:

Rihanna recently revealed that she and the hot-headed Chris Brown are once again an item. Also, a “Rihanna sex tape” link that was going around Facebook last month was revealed to be a malware scam.

  • Facebook Cancels NYC Gifts Event Ahead of Hurricane Sandy

In light of the imminent landfall of “Frankenstorm” Hurricane Sandy in New York City, Facebook has become the next company to postpone scheduled events in the city.

Earlier this month, Facebook sent out invitations for a November 1st event set to take place at FAO Schwartz on Fifth Avenue. The event invited media to “come see what’s new with Facebook Gifts,” and it was widely expected that Facebook would announce many new retails partners ahead of the global launch of their new ecommerce initiative.

The company has confirmed that this event has been cancelled.

Facebook launched their new Gifts platform last month as an all new way for users to send friends real life items like clothes, toys, food, and more. A previous version of Facebook Gifts allowed users to send their friends virtual goods. Users will be able to send friends gifts and pay using Facebook Payments. Gift recipients will receive notifications when a gift has been purchased for them, and will be allowed to change sizes, flavors, and designate a shipping address from their end. For Facebook, it will be a new way to generate revenue that’s mostly divorced from advertising.

Facebook gifts is still in a small test phase and it’s unclear exactly when it will roll out to all users.

Facebook has also cancelled an Engineering open house planned for Tuesday in the city.

I mentioned earlier that Facebook wasn’t the first tech company to cancel an event for the storm. Google has also axed their big Android event that was set to take place this morning. The company was expected to show off new Nexus products at the event.

  • Cancelled Shows 2012: Several Fan Favorites Won’t Return Next Season

Cancelled Shows 2012: The fallout has been quite stressful and a little traumatic for fans of those shows that won’t be returning for another run next season. It’s always hard to say goodbye to the characters you’ve grown to love, even if the universe in which they dwell has only been in existence for a few short months. “Terra Nova” fans, for example, probably won’t have as hard a time dealing with the anguish that comes with a cancellation as, say, those who have been following “House” and “One Tree Hill” since the beginning.

Judging from the Twitter responses surrounding the demise of “House”, fans aren’t quite ready to say goodbye. In fact, some of them are downright angry about the news. David Shore, the show’s creator, was actually looking to wrap things up last year, though the decision was made to stretch out the storyline for one more season. Because the decision to cancel the show came early, Shore plans to give the characters the proper send-off they deserve.

// I’m just now finding out that #House has been cancelled. Truly sad news… but I think it’s time to let it end. Great show.(image) 15 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

I still can’t believe #House was cancelled, that show could have easily made it for 8 more years(image) 3 days ago via UberSocial for BlackBerry ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Gutted that #House has been cancelled! Great show and Hugh Laurie is brilliant in it. Will be sadly missed!(image) 22 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Fan favorite “Alcatraz”, the brainchild of uber producer/director J.J. Abrams, failed to hang onto the numbers generated during its debut last fall. However, Abrams devotees shouldn’t collectively kick FOX in the keister just yet; the network has apparently renewed “Fringe” for one more season. The animated version of “Napoleon Dynamite”, which also had a home at FOX, has been cancelled, as well.

A few other long-running shows are also parting ways with their networks. NBC’s “Chuck”, ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, and CBS’s “CSI: Miami” have also been kicked to the curb. “Desperate Housewives” won’t be back next season, either, though this was announced sometime last year, which should, in theory, have allowed fans to properly prepare for the show’s upcoming departure.

However, despite all of these cancellations, there are numerous reasons to keep watching the small screen. “Big Bang Theory”, “30 Rock”, “Family Guy”, “Glee”, “New Girl”, “Modern Family”, and, my personal favorite, “Nikita” have all been invited back for another season of televised entertainment. What’s amazing to me is that “America’s Funniest Home Videos” keeps chugging right along after being on-air for what seems like ages.

Additionally, several new shows have been picked up to essentially fill the void left by the programs that won’t be returning this fall. “The Carrie Diaries”, CW’s prequel to the HBO series “Sex in the City”, should be arriving next season, as well as the reboot of “Beauty and the Beast”. FOX, meanwhile, is hoping to ensnare grieving “House” fans with the medical drama “The Mob Doctor”, which stars Jordana Spiro. The trailer for the upcoming program resides above.
