  • Beyonce Cancels Show Amid Pregnancy Rumors

Pop superstar Beyoncé is currently in the midst of a world tour called “The Mrs. Carter Show.” Despite the fact that an unnamed source close to her and her husband, Jay-Z, has denied it, rumors of the singer being pregnant are beginning to persist. The couple already have one child, a one-year-old daughter named Blue Ivy.

Now, Beyoncé’s health is once again in the spotlight as her tour hits a snag. The singer was scheduled to go on stage tonight in Antwerp, Belgium, but has cancelled the show. According to an Associated Press report, the show was cancelled due to the singer’s “dehydration and exhaustion.” She has reportedly been ordered by doctors to get some rest.

The cancellation was announced via Beyoncé’s Facebook page, where ticket-holders were encouraged to hold on to their tickets for a rescheduled show:

    Beyoncé

    Belgium

Unfortunately tonight’s show has been canceled.

Please keep your tickets for the rescheduled show.

Our sincerest apologies for the late notice and stay tuned for the new show date announcement.

Beyoncé’s world tour is scheduled to hit much of Europe for the rest of May before continuing on to cities in the U.S. and Canada throughout June and July. The singer’s statement to the AP made it clear she is waiting for Doctors’ advice before continuing on with the tour.

  • Bieber Cancels Concert in Portugal

This week has been a tough one for fans of live pop music. First, singer Rihanna this weekend cancelled her show in Boston due to laryngitis. Now, it appears that Justin Bieber has cancelled a concert that was scheduled to take place in Portugal tomorrow, March 12.

CBS News is reporting that Bieber’s second Lisbon, Portugal concert has been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Current rumors are pointing to “logistical issues” with unions as the reason fro the concert cancellation. Bieber’s first Lisbon show, scheduled to take place tonight, is still a go and the singer began tweeting about the concert this afternoon:

There doesn’t appear to be any connection between the cancellation and the odd journey that Bieber endured in London last week. After being spotted walking London streets with his shirt off early last week and having shown shown up late for a concert, the pop star went on a Twitter tirade against “rumors” and “fake stories.” Rumors about the star’s “diva-like” behavior persisted, however, as he collapsed during one of his London shows later in the week. Bieber’s European tour will take him through France, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany in the coming weeks.

  • Rihanna Cancels Concert Due to Laryngitis

Rihanna Cancels Concert Due to Laryngitis

TMZ reported this weekend that pop star Rihanna cancelled her scheduled Sunday night concert in Boston. The singer blamed the cancellation on Laryngitis.

Live nation stated that the no-show is doctor’s orders for Rihanna, and that the Boston show will now be rescheduled. The singer is still expected to take the stage in Baltimore on Tuesday as scheduled.

Rihanna used her twitter feed to apologize to her many disappointed fans in Boston. The pop star stated that she was “embarrassed” and “hurt” that she let fans down:

Rihanna recently revealed that she and the hot-headed Chris Brown are once again an item. Also, a “Rihanna sex tape” link that was going around Facebook last month was revealed to be a malware scam.

  • Sony Cancels Playstation’s Qore After 47 Episodes

The last episode of Qore will be released this month. The “interactive video magazine program” will end its four year run on the Playstation Network with its 47th episode. The announcement that the show has been canceled came on the Playstation blog at the end of a post about the upcoming Qore episode. Almost as an afterthought, Kevin Furuichi, an executive producer with the PlayStation Network, posted this final paragraph:

This episode also features a retrospective look back at Qore’s nearly four years on PlayStation Network. As the first interactive digital magazine on a game console, Qore provided an innovative mix of quality HD video and interactive content covering over 160 new games. With this April episode, Qore concludes its run on the PlayStation Network. As a send off, the Qore team built one final DLC package: the Qore Ultimate Arcade features a compilation of 11 mini games offered throughout the series. Our thanks to all involved in the creation and production of Qore and to the many fans who regularly watched each month.

There is no word on why Sony has cancelled the show. Qore was available on Playstation Plus for a subscription fee or free for Playstation Plus subscribers. If the show was expensive to produce, it’s conceivable that Sony ended the show as part of the extreme measures it has recently taken to make the company profitable. It’s also possible the show’s demise is part of the management restructuring Sony announced several weeks ago.

Wish the producers, crew, and hosts of Qore good luck in the comments section below, or check out former Qore host Veronica Belmont in her new show on Felecia Day’s new YouTube channel, Geek and Sundry. She will co-host the Sword and Laser show, an online book club for Science Fiction and Fantasy fans.

I leave you with the final preview video for a Qore episode, posted alongside the dour announcement:

  • How To Avoid Hotel Cancellation Fees

How To Avoid Hotel Cancellation Fees

The majority of hotels charge a fee for canceling a room reservation, if one cancels within 24 hours of their scheduled check in. This sort of thing typically isn’t an issue if one has a planned vacation or trip, and has ample time to adjust changes in plans. Still, for cancelled or re-routed flights, various emergencies, etc., a Redditor called drwired has come up with a quick solution – reschedule the room for a few days later than it was originally booked, then cancel outside of the 24 hour late fee window.

Theoretically, this tactic should work – hotels mind less if a customer reschedules instead of cancels altogether, and will alter a reservation as long as it stays on the books. Once the date is moved ahead, one can just call back later, and hope to cancel with a different person at the desk. Perhaps it might help to wait a day or two before calling back, as many places keep logs concerning customer issues.

Personally, I have never tried this trick, but I can recall times in the past where it would’ve been useful. Still, commentary on Reddit concerning the matter kind of makes me think that the tactic doesn’t really work very often.

  • Luck Cancelled: Director Blames TMZ for “Spinning Unfair Stories”

Michael Mann, the director of HBO series, Luck, blames TMZ for the show getting cancelled. In the following clip you can hear Mann telling the cast and crew that the decision was reached by HBO after TMZ and “the media” spun unfair stories after a third horse died on the set.

TMZ fired back by saying that they didn’t spin anything and addressed the facts about the situation: 1)THREE horses died on their watch; 2) Horse #3 was euthanized on the set … and production continued a few hours later AND 3) Publicist Karen Jones initially LIED to TMZ about the story … in an effort to stall them from publishing.

TMZ says that their bottom line on the subject is that the show would not have been cancelled if the horses were still alive.

“The Dead Horse Series” was created by TMZ in reaction to several controversial decisions made by the crew of Luck. The entertainment news outfit wrote a story titled “No Moment of Silence for Dead Horse” that criticized the crew for continuing to film soon after one horse died.

Mann explained to the cast and crew that the decision was also made to preserve the show’s integrity, and didn’t want the attention that the horse controversy has been getting to overshadow the efforts of the cast and crew. Another contributing factor was that HBO couldn’t guarantee that another animal wouldn’t die.

The series premiered on January 29th; despite its cancellation, all of the first season’s episodes will air. Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte held prominent roles in the dramatic series.

Fans are very disappointed that the show was cancelled while others tweet that Luck should have been nixed before a third horse died:
