    Winklevoss Twins Deemed ‘Bitcoin Moguls’

Silicon’s favorite (or least favorite, depending on what side of the coin you prefer) twins, the Winklevoss twins, have been deemed “Bitcoin moguls” in a new report from the New York Times.

The publication reports that the twins have “amassed since last summer what appears to be one of the largest portfolios of the digital money.”

A couple choice quotes from the Winklevii:

Cameron: “People say it’s a Ponzi scheme, it’s a bubble. People really don’t want to take it seriously. At some point that narrative will shift to ‘virtual currencies are here to stay.’ We’re in the early days.”

Tyler: “We have elected to put our money and faith in a mathematical framework that is free of politics and human error.”

We recently revisited an interview we did with Bitcoin lead core developer Gavin Andresen, who talked about where the virtual currency is headed. He had a lot of interesting things to say, and you should probably read it.

  • Facebook IPO Leaves Winklevoss Twins Speechless (On Twitter)

There’s been a whole lot of chatter about the Facebook IPO today. However, there’s not been much from the Winklevoss Twins, the Harvard duo that founded ConnectU, and made cinematic history in The Social Network with Armie Hammer’s portrayal of them.

The twins are regularly engaged on Twitter, giving the world a glimpse into their TV viewing habits and animal preferences:

#gameofthrones is hands down the best show on television. Absolutely mesmerizing! (Full disclosure: Just watched 3 episodes in a row)

However, they have not had much to say on this historic day for Facebook, the company founded by their arch-nemesis Mark Zuckerberg. Tyler did retweet a couple of related posts:

But no actual commentary from the twins. Granted, the day is not over yet. Nothing from ConnectU partner Divya Narendra either.

The Winklevoss Twins, however, recently started their own venture capital company, and are apparently on the lookout for programmers.

  • Cameron Winklevoss: Desktop Usage Will Peak This Year

There’s no question that mobile web usage is on the rise, as more and more people purchase smartphones and tablets. Feature phones still play a role too. Half of the famed Winklevii (made more famous from Armie Hammer’s portrayal of the twins in the hit film The Social Network) went so far as to suggest that this will be the year desktop usage peaks.
