  • Cadbury Creme Eggs Blow Up, Catch Fire, and Shatter

The chemists over at The Periodic Table of Videos have prepared for Easter by doing a few experiments on a holiday staple: the Cabury Creme Egg.

In the video, the chemists explode Cadbury Creme Eggs in a vacuum, set a creme egg on fire using potassium chlorate, and shatter a creme egg that is frozen with liquid nitrogen. In-between all the chocolatey mayhem, University of Nottingham Chemistry Professor Martyn Poliakoff explains the chemical structure of a Cadbury Creme Egg, making the video educational as well as entertaining.

The Periodic Table of Videos started as a project by chemists at the University of Nottingham to create videos on all 118 elements on the periodic table. After achieving that goal, the chemists began to create videos about molecules and compounds, as well as other chemistry-related videos, such as this one.

  • Cadbury Makes a Scrumdiddlyumptious Chocolate Cake that Looks Just Like Their Google+ Page

Cadbury UK loves their Google+ page so much that they made chocolate bars for the page’s co-founders and a chocolate cake that looks just like the Google+ page. The cake is so ornate that you would think the Cake Boss made it.

The artist of this masterpiece is Prudence, a british chocolate artist. She says that she has a dream job because she “gets to play with chocolate all day and then eat it.”

The cake’s layers of solid chocolate make it heavy, heavenly, and rich. Everything on the cake is edible.

Prudence put the finishing touches on the cake while the process was was broadcasted through a Google+ On Air hangout. The artisan and her co-host were joined by a panel of viewers across the region who were invited to make suggestions about what the message on the cake should say. They were also given the opportunity to ask Prudence how she made some of her other concoctions.

One female audience member said that she thought it was cool that Cadbury asked customers for their input and that this experience would make her more loyal to the brand.

Google+ On Air is a valuable forum that companies can use to interact with customers. They can hold mini-sessions, run focus groups, host fun events like this one, and much more.

  • Cadbury’s Google+ Page Used To Announce New Candy Bar

Over the past few months, it appears that Google’s got a sweet tooth. Or, if not, then Cadbury is sweet on Google. However you want to define their confectionary canoodling, one thing’s clear: Cadbury likes to make business announcements on their Google+ account.

Last month, Cadbury announced the creation of the special Dairy Milk +1 candy bar to coincide with the announcement of their Google+ page. Now, Cadbury has used their Google+ account to reveal their latest candy bar:

In order to make more fun for Bubbly (I presume Boily was not appetizing to focus groups), Cadbury also announced that they will be making use of Blippar, the iPhone and Android app that uses the phone’s camera lens to reveal more multimedia games and information simply by holding the phone up to the candy bar’s rapper.

You got a weird little candy bar comin’ to the British food aisles near me soon, Cadbury, but I’ll probably still try it just so I can play that weird duck game that appears when I Blippar the wrapper.

  • Google Candy Bars From Cadbury

On its UK Google+ page, candy maker Cadbury shared a photo of a couple of custom candy bars it created in honor of Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

    Why?

    Why not?

Cadbury says, “Remember our 1kg Dairy Milk+ Bars? We’ve had some special personalised ones made, including these delicious ones for Google founders Larry & Sergey. Whose name would you like to see on a bar?”

Notice the +1 on the packaging.

Cadbury actually introduced the Dairy Milk +1 bar as it launched its Google+ Page earlier this month.

    Dairy Milk Plus

Here’s a commercial for their Dairy Milk:

This seems like as good a time as any to point out how Cadbury is utilizing the Google+ brand page for engagement. Last week, the company shared the above video, commenting, “We put a glass and a half of joy into each of our adverts… which is probably why they were the thing you most requested for us to post! Can you match these impressive eyebrow moves?”

A day before that, the company said on the page:

We like to start our Mondays by getting things in order, so if you’d all like to stand neatly in Circles that would help us immensely 😉

Oh but seriously… Just let us know if you’d like to be in any of our Dairy Milk, Wispa or Creme Egg circles and we’ll add you in! – Jerry

That post got 38 comments. This isn’t a tremendous amount when you think about Facebook pages, but not too bad for getting some engagement going on the young Google+ brand pages.

Cadbury has been pretty active on Google+ throughout the month, posting many photos, comments and videos.

If you’re looking for ways to make your brand page better, Cadbury’s isn’t a bad example to look at.
