  • Apple Martin, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter, Spotted Back Stage With Beyonce’s Blue Ivy Ahead of Super Bowl Halftime Show

Apple Martin, the daughter of Coldplay front man Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, was pictured with a new little friend back stage at Sunday’s Super Bowl. Just ahead of the halftime show, she was spotted hand-in-hand with Beyonce and Jay-Z’s little girl Blue Ivy.

Chris Martin and his band Coldplay, as well as Beyonce and Bruno Mars, starred in Sunday’s halftime show. How exciting for Apple Martin that she was on hand to experience all the excitement.

Gwyneth Paltrow was likely on hand at the Super Bowl as well, as she shared the shot of Apple Martin and Blue Ivy walking backstage together.

“#superbowl50 jacket game,” she captioned the shot.

Apple Martin is 11 years old, so little Blue Ivy–at just three–no doubt looks up to her.

As anyone with a preteen–or who has raised a preteen–knows, these kids on the cusp of their teen years think they’re all grown up. It no doubt gave Apple Martin a sense of responsibility to lead Blue Ivy around back stage. While it’s certain there were ample security guards posted for both children, this little bit of freedom must have felt good.

Apple Martin is no doubt the envy of her school friends today, as it’s unlikely many of them got to attend the Super Bowl halftime show in Sunday.

Apart from his music career, Mars is taking a step into the world on television. Just a few days ago we learned that Mars will produce a show for NBC with Empire producer Brian Grazer.

The show will be a sitcom that “follows a loud, boisterous musical family from the Bronx.”

  • Bruno Mars Set To ‘Uptown Funk’ Super Bowl 50: Who Will He Bring Along?

Bruno Mars isn’t talking about it himself yet, but the word on the street is that the “Uptown Funk” singer is headed back to the Super Bowl.

Mars was the headliner for the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show in 2014. He brought along the Red Hot Chili Peppers for that appearance. The show broke all records at the time,.

But the very next year, Katy Perry literally flew during her halftime show, upping the game once again. Since then, Katy Perry has tried to buy a convent, with much resistance from the nuns who own it. Apparently, they were not as impressed with her flying stunt as the rest of the world was.

Now Bruno Mars looks to be coming back. But it’s probably not just him. According to sources for Billboard magazine, Bruno Mars was asked to “curate” theSuper Bowl 50 halftime show in Santa Clara, California, which will take place on Feb. 7, 2016.

If that is true, it means that Mars will be picking the other acts to join him on stage for that performance.

Back with Mars was scheduled for the 2014 Super Bowl, Director of media events for the NFL Sarah Moll considered landing the singer one of her best moves professionally.

“Myself and our producer, Ricky Kirshner, were both personal fans of Bruno and had seen him in concert and knew what he could do,” she said. “And it was a lot of just telling folks here and getting folks excited about Bruno and taking them to shows and letting them see what he could do. And that’s kind of what got it going.”

“But I look at it really as Super Bowl XLVIII as a whole and the day really encompassed music from the beginning of the day all the way through halftime.”

  • Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama Rock ‘Uptown Funk’

Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama rocked out to ‘Uptown Funk’ while recording Monday’s episode of Ellen’s show. As part of the #GimmeFive hashtag the first lady is promoting as part of her Let’s Move campaign for physical fitness, the two aimed to show everyone how much fun they can have when engaging in healthy movement. The song featuring both Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars was perfect for the occasion. The song will once again be put to good use during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

“In honor of the fifth anniversary [of the Let’s Move campaign] I’ve issued this challenge. We’re calling it #GimmeFive and we’re using the hashtag #GimmeFive on social media,” Michelle Obama told Ellen DeGeneres.

“We’re asking folks all across the country to #GimmeFive ways their leading a healthy life. We’ve got a lot of celebrities involved,” she said, thanking Beyoncé, Nick Jonas and Ryan Seacrest for their involvement. “We’re gonna take over the Easter Egg Roll this year with a #GimmeFive dance, and actually the So You Think You Can Dance all stars are coming to the Easter Egg Roll to teach the whole South Lawn this dance.”

“I have actually challenged this woman right here to learn the #GimmeFive dance,” she said of Ellen DeGeneres, before the two ladies showed off their moves.

DeGeneres pretended to be ill prepared.

“I’m very busy, very, very busy and I’m not really good at choreography. I’m more of a free style,” she said.

“You’re more street?” Michelle asked, and Ellen DeGeneres confirmed.

“I have tried to learn the dance, and so if that’s your challenge…You have learned the dance I assume?” Ellen asked the first lady.

“Yeah, I’ve been…I’m busy, too, you know!” Michelle said with a laugh. “But I have taken [lessons] backstage. I just sort of looked over and I just thought, ‘Maybe we can do this’…if you’re up for the challenge!”

Ellen agreed, but added, “The thing is your people said you’ve been practicing for a year so.”

“My people?” Michelle asked. “You think I have people?”

Right before the two hit the dance floor, executing some impressive moves to ‘Uptown Funk,’ they issued words of warning to one another–still clearly joking.

“You’ve rehearsed it, you’ve practiced it and it’s part of the Let’s Move campaign. It’s important to move. It’s important to dance,” Ellen said.

“I got the dance steps the same time you got the dance steps, so don’t even try it!” Michelle retorted.

    Then they danced.

You can see Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama bustin’ a move on Monday on The Ellen Show.

  • Katy Perry Stuns In ‘Birthday’ Performance

Katy Perry performed her latest hit Birthday at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday in typical Perry fashion.

The Roar singer held her “Birthday” bash from the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena during the awards ceremony, which happened live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Donning a green-colored do, Perry invited a surprised fan who was celebrating her birthday to join her onstage. Channeling Peter Pan, Perry then flew away from the cake and backup dancers on the arena’s platform, riding a zipline over the audience in a bunch of balloons reminiscent of the Pixar film, Up.

Birthday is the latest single from Perry‘s third studio album PRISM. Debuting at No. 1 when it was released in October, the single moved up four spots to No. 25 on this week’s Hot 100 chart. Other PRISM singles, Roar and Dark Horse — have already hit the No. 1 spot.

Another unlikely performer was Michael Jackson, or rather, a hologram of the King of Pop.

The controversial use of Jackson’s likeness was battled out in court, but a federal judge allowed the Billboard Music Awards to go ahead with its plans to use the hologram during the awards show.

Perry was just one of the many stunning performances at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Shakira, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Iggy Azalea each took a turn wowing the audience.

Justin Timberlake beat out Perry to become the 2014 Billboard Music Top Artist. Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons and Bruno Mars were the other contenders.

Timberlake’s humor came out backstage when he posted a little celebratory dance:

  • Bruno Mars Act Could Help to End Ticket Scalping

    The Bruno Mars Act?

After Bruno Mars rocked the Super Bowl halftime show, the Hawaiian born singer’s entertainment value sky-rocketed to record heights. So much so, in fact, that three of his upcoming concerts in Honolulu, Hawaii sold out in two hours.

Tom Moffataa, a local promoter, said he had never witnessed anything before like Mars’ ticket rush in the fifty years he’s been in the business.

But Mars fans in Hawaii are not the ones getting the tickets. Just 6% of the tickets were sold at the box office to people waiting in line. Out of state scalpers and brokers bought up 42% of the tickets via telephone or through the internet. So the $100 face value for a Bruno Mars concert could be scalped in the area of $450.

Not too many people stand on line for concerts anymore. The old days of camping outside of the Ticketmaster box office are long gone, due to the ease of getting tickets on the internet. But it doesn’t seem fair to the fans who waited in line in Hawaii to be turned away, empty-handed.

Now, Hawaiian Senate President Donna Mercado Kim would like to pass a resolution which prompts entertainment venues to sell tickets in-person for the first 48 hours. She said, “Anyone who takes the time to show up in person should have the opportunity to purchase tickets for at least the first two days before opening up to online sales. It’s unfortunate that out-of-state ticket brokers and scalpers will resell these concert tickets back to local residents for an enormous profit. Our residents should enjoy a night of entertainment without having to pay inflated prices.”

Kim even called the Resolution “The Bruno Mars Act.” It will be a tough act to pass considering most concerts don’t sell out and scalpers will still most likely find their way around waiting in long lines. But going back to the good ole days, although not as easy as getting them on the internet, would at least ensure a fan a seat at a fair price.

  • ‘Bruno Mars Act’ Proposed As A Resolution For Ticket Scalping

Bruno Mars has been a big topic of discussion lately, given the recent ticket scalping debacle that evolved in Hawaii. The Unorthodox Jukebox singer may actually be a pillar for a new anti-scalping resolution.

The awkward situation began when Mars’ scheduled concerts in Honolulu, HI sold out in less than three hours. While most would consider this a laudable feat, it was actually quite problematic where Mars is concerned.

According to KHON2, only an estimated six percent of the tickets sold were actually purchased by individual fans. The vast majority of the tickets ended up being nabbed by opportunistic, online ticket brokers and scalpers to be sold at inflated rates.

As a result of the massive imbalance, a substantial number of fans came up short, walking away empty-handed. Hawaii state legislators have taken the initiative to come up with a solution to rectify the situation. With a new law they’ve coined the Bruno Mars act, legislators are hoping to put an end to the price gouging practice.

Hawaii State Senate President Donna Mercado Kim weighed in with her sentiments on the unethical practice. “Anyone who takes the time to show up in person should have the opportunity to purchase tickets for at least the first two days before opening up to online sales,” Kim said in her statement. “It’s unfortunate that out-of-state ticket brokers and scalpers will resell these concert tickets back to local residents for an enormous profit.”

If the legislation passes the act in Hawaii, fans will have the opportunity to make ticket purchases approximately 48 hours before online sales begin. The bill will also serve as a preventive measure to prohibit the use of security software designed to bypass online barriers put in place to stop bulk ticket purchases.

However, Kim stated that the ultimate goal will be to stop the practice of ticket scalping in its entirety. “If you’re a loyal fan standing in line to purchase a coveted concert ticket and  plan to attend that concert, you should be able to have more that six percent of  a chance to purchase ticket,” she explained.

While the proposed legislative resolution isn’t considered a solidified law, Kim is hoping that the Bruno Mars Act will at least curb the staggering number of tickets nabbed by scalpers and ticket brokers.

  • Bruno Mars To Lend His Voice To “Rio 2”

Bruno Mars To Lend His Voice To “Rio 2”

Rio 2 director Carlos Saldanha has added a new voice to the mix, in the sequel of the popular animated movie Rio.

Bruno Mars, the pop superstar who rocked the stage during this year’s Super Bowl, will be joining the cast of Rio 2 as a macaw bird named Roberto.

Saldanha first became interested in casting Mars for a voiceover after seeing him host Saturday Night Live in October 2012. Despite having to make a few revisions to the character, Saldanha felt that Mars was a perfect fit for the role.

“He pushed it in a way that said ‘this is the character’ and we felt we could push it,” Saldanha said.

Not only will Mars be taking on a role in the film, he will also be contributing some songs to the soundtrack that will be released on April 11th, the same day that the film will open in theaters. Another pop star, Janelle Monáe, will be lending some songs to the soundtrack as well.

The music in Rio 2 will be a little different from the first movie. The 12 songs on the soundtrack will be traditional folk songs rooted in Brazil.

“It’s a different kind of music from the first one, which was mostly samba,” Saldanha said. “It’s multicultural and represents Brazil and the USA. We looked at folk dancing and folk songs of the region. Sergio and Carlos have great ears and they make sure everything is done (rhythmically) the way it’s done in Brazil.”

While there may be a few new voices joining the cast, original cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, and Jamie Foxx will be reprising their roles.

  • Bruno Mars Jumps High On Charts

Bruno Mars Jumps High On Charts

Bruno Mars absolutely killed it during his Super Bowl performance. The halftime show rocked and everyone seemed to think so since it was the most watched halftime show ever.

Mars’ second album, “Unorthodox Jukebox,” went from No. 18 to No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart with 42,000 — up 180%, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But that’s not all for Mr. Mars. His first album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” jumps from No. 82 to No. 19 with 16,000 (up 303%).

    Pretty crazy, huh?

The impact of Mars’ playing at this Sunday’s Super Bowl has done something for him that’s never happened to previous performers. Traditionally, the halftime performer has a much larger catalog of music to select from. Mars’ only had two albums to choose from.

So what exactly does that mean for the “Just The Way You Are” singer? Since he only has two albums worth of music, his sales are highlighted and spread across a smaller amount of music-generating even more attention to his small catalog.

While the Queen Bey nailed her performance last year, she didn’t have a current album riding high on the charts at the time like Mars did.

  • Bruno Mars: Most Watched Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bruno Mars made history this past Sunday when he performed as the Super Bowl halftime main event. A record breaking 115.3 million viewers tuned in to see Bruno sing–and that’s more than any other Super Bowl halftime show in history. Beyonce drew 110.8 million viewers in 2013 and Madonna brought in 114 million two years ago. The Locked Out of Heaven star has now blown both of these records clear out of the water. Add to that the fact that Bruno Mars is the youngest solo artist to ever headline the Super Bowl halftime show, and you’ve got success on top of success on top of–you guessed it–more success. This can only lend itself to a huge rise in popularity for the already adored 28-year-old music superstar.

Things got even better for Bruno, too, following the halftime show. He soared to the top of the iTunes sales charts immediately after the show, and the second leg of his ‘Moonshine Jungle World Tour’ has sold out in most markets. It sounds like Bruno Mars got more out of the Super Bowl than either of the NFL teams playing–or at the very least he wowed more of the football fans.

Check out the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show as Bruno Mars performs one of his hit songs–Just the Way You Are.

It’s been a pretty amazing couple of weeks for Mars. At the 56th Grammy Awards on January 26th he won the award in the Best Pop Vocal Album category for his hit album Unorthodox Jukebox. This was the second Grammy for Bruno Mars, who won his first for his album Doo-Wops & Hooligans.

Even if you were disappointed in which teams made it to the Super Bowl, or like many fans–disappointed in the lack of excitement on the field during the actual game–you have to admit that halftime show was pretty spectacular.

Can you even imagine walking in Bruno Mars’ shoes right now? Kudos to the young hit singer.

  • 2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show Recap

2014 Super Bowl Halftime Show Recap

The Super Bowl has come and gone and the halftime show was an absolute hit. Not only did Bruno Mars kill it, the Red Hot Chili Peppers added a little extra spice (no pun intended) to the entertaining show.

The show started as the stadium’s lights shut off in a trickling effect. The second the lights were out, the audience erupted with hyped-up applause. Mars was sitting in the middle of the field on a moving stand playing the drums. It was the perfect buildup to an already anticipated show.

The singer slowly met the stage and began into the first number of the performance. His gold sequined jacket lit the stage perfectly as he slid smoothly across it along with his backup dancers. They continued to move in unison as he pumped the audience up even more.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgFks8GIK6Y

It was a fast-paced performance that was high energy and loads of fun-complete with the splits courtesy of Mars.

As Mars continued to sing, he seamlessly threw in some Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics informally welcoming the band to the stage. The Chili Peppers soared up through the stage like a bunch of bandits ready to cause havoc.

Bare-chested the boys took over the stage like a bunch of wild pirates ready to party. Unfortunately the length of their stay was limited to one song.

Closing the performance, Mars went into “Just The Way You Are” introduced by a video tribute from soldiers to their loved ones. The song ended with Mars singing the ballad with strength and intensity as fireworks exploded in the background.

  • Bruno Mars Is Most Illegally Downloaded Artist Of The Year

People have been downloading music illegally for several years now and while many people have been fined and some even jailed for the activity, millions still continue to illegally download music instead of buying it.

This year, Bruno Mars was the most illegally download artists. Over 64.5 million tracks of music were downloaded illegally this year. Of those downloads, 70% of them were full albums and the other 30% were single songs. 5,783,556 of the downloads were songs by Bruno Mars.

Being named the Most Illegally Downloaded artist of 2013 is not Bruno’s biggest accomplishment of the year. He was also named Billboard’s Artist Of The Year and stayed on the top 100 charts for months.

File sharing methods such as BitTorrent have made it easier than ever for people to download music illegally. Users can share music files with other users and search for songs by almost any artist in any music genre. According to Billboard, file sharing is decreasing and Bit Torrent’s downloads fell over 7% since 2011.

The drop in illegal music downloads is likely a result of the rise in streaming music. Many people now use streaming music apps and websites to listen to their favorite songs instead of downloading them to their computers or devices.

Among the illegal Bruno Mars songs that were downloaded this year, the most popular were Unorthodox Jukebox, When I Was Your Man, Treasure and Locked Out Of Heaven. These songs were also the most popular on the Billboard charts.

Do you think it is okay to download music illegally?

  • Bruno Mars Named Most Illegally Downloaded Artist of 2013

Bruno Mars had an amazing 2013. First his Unorthodox Jukebox album topped the domestic and international Billboard charts. Then his singles,”When I was Your Man,” “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Treasure” remained on top of the 100 single charts for months. Mars concluded his year by being named Billboard’s Artist of the Year.

In addition to all that success, his concerts sold out all across the United States, he won several major music awards, and he received multiple nominations for the 2014 Grammy Awards. As Mars leaves 2013 behind, he won one more music honor this week:  most illegally downloaded artist of 2013.

According to London based data analysis firm, MusicMetric, Bruno Mar’s songs and album were downloaded 5.8 million times in 2013. Bit Torrent was the site MusicMetric used to gather its data for the study. Bit Torrent is the most popular peer-to-peer based file sharing program in the North America. It allows people to share programs, music and videos through downloads. MusicMetric focused on Bit Torrent’s traffic to form its data to analyze.

MusicMetric narrowed down their study to 20 artist who were downloaded the most in 2013 on Bit Torrent sites and programs. Besides Mars, others artists who topped this study include Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk and Flo Rida. The typical traffic breakdown of downloads for each artist were 70% of their total downloads came from people downloading full albums and 30% were from individual singles’ downloads.

Despite the huge numbers, Musicmetric claims that Bit Torrent’s downloading is at a steady decline due to the increasing availability of streaming music. According to Billboard,”BitTorrent’s share of total daily traffic in North America had fallen to 11.1% from 18.9% in the second half of 2011.”

Here’s how many downloads each of the top 20 most-downloaded artists of 2013 received, according to MusicMetric’s study:

    1 Bruno Mars, 5,783,556
    2 Rihanna, 5,414,166
    3 Daft Punk, 4,212,361
    4 Justin Timberlake, 3,930,185
    5 Flo Rida, 3,470,825
    6 Kanye West, 3,199,969
    7 Eminem, 3,176,122
    8 Jay Z, 3,171,358
    9 Drake, 3,139,408
    10 Pitbull, 3,138,308

  • Bruno Mars Excited To Be Billboard’s Top Artist of 2013

Bruno Mars has been named by Billboard as this year’s Artist of the Year. Bruno beat the likes of Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Rihanna for the top honor, thanks to his 2012 “Unorthodox Jukebox” which is the 2nd bestselling album after Timberlake’s “20/20 Experience”. To date, the album has sold about 1.8 million copies.

‘I love to create music. And that’s all I was trying to do with that album,’ said Mars. ‘I’m just happy that there’s some people out there that like it.’

Mars’ top hits this year included “When I Was Your Man”, “Locked Out of Heaven” and a top five hit, “Treasure”. These are the hits that kept him in the top 20 list every week since their release.

The 28-year-old artist could not hide his excitement after Billboard announced the news Friday that the pop crooner will be the year’s topmost artist. “It’s flattering. It’s just an honor,” Mars said in an interview. “I’m proud to be a part of this whole team that I have.”

Mars thinks that the reason fans have resonated with his music is because it is “relatable”. “You know when you eat that food and it’s filling that void you were missing,” he said of his music.

Other notable winners in the list included Justin Timberlake who topped the R&B charts, Florida Georgia Line who ruled Country and Imagine Dragon – they reigned over the Rock charts. Others include Taylor Swift who is this year’s top female artist and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis who tops the group category.

Mars had quite a steller year. His hit “Locked Out of Heaven,” has also been nominated for the Grammy’s prestigious Record and Song of the Year awards.

  • Bruno Mars named Billboard’s Artist of the Year

Almost a week after receiving several Grammy nominations, including Best Solo Performance and Record of the Year, Bruno Mars has received another major music honor. He has been named Billboard’s Artist of the Year. This was a big year for music. Justin Timberlake released two albums after a seven year hiatus, Beyonce put out a surprise album, and a couple groups, like Fall Out Boy and Postal Service, reunited. So Bruno Mars’ stellar year in music may have been overshadowed by other musical events. However, this does not negate his worthiness of the title.

In their announcement column, Billboard discusses why Mars deserves to be their artist of the year. Besides his sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox, receiving critical praise, it’s been a big chart hit.  His song “Locked out of Heaven” stayed number 1 on the Billboard charts for six weeks. His other major singles, “Treasure” and “When I was your Man”, also graced the top ten songs Billboard chart.

Unorthodox Jukebox debuted in the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 after it’s release last December. It remained in the top twenty albums until September of 2013. Unorthodox Jukebox currently has sold 1.8 million copies.

Besides the numbers game, Mars has sold out arenas all across North America on his current tour. He plans to take his tour global next year. Mars may not have spurred social media buzz like other artists this year, but he has remained a major presence. After every major award show performance, he has created some Twitter trending topics.

What makes Billboard’s announcement sweeter is that it comes a couple days after Unorthodox Jukebox’s one-year release anniversary.

Bruno Mars shows his excitement below in his response to Billboard announcing his win

Bruno Mars will start next year off strong as well by performing at the Super Bowl’s half-time show.

Though Mars winning Billboard’s Artist of Year title is sure to cause some controversy, Mars’ talent and success proves him a worthy recipient.

  • Bruno Mars Gets ‘Unorthodox’ in New ‘Gorilla’ Video

It’s Bruno Mars like you’ve never seen him before! Of course, everyone is familiar with the mellow pop sounds of the Grammy award-winning balladeer. But, this time, he’s back with his sexually-charged exotic record, “Gorilla,” and the video leaves little to nothing to the imagination. One word can sum up the video – hot!

The record was a collaborative work written and created by Mars’ production team the Smeezingtons, Emily Haynie, 808s and Heartbreaks’ producer, Jeff Bhasker, and musician Mark Ronson. Its a sexy soft rock record that compares passionate sex to mating like wild animals, hence the gorilla on the single’s cover art.

A writer from The Times, Jon Caramanica, previously wrote about Mars’s performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this Summer. “He is the most formidable synthesizer of styles going in pop today, taking in doo-wop, lovers rock reggae, torch songs, 1950s rock, 1970s funk, 1990s R&B and more, making for a sound that’s both pan-stylistic and, in a way, panracial,” he wrote.

Mars is just finishing up his ten-week “Moonshine Jungle Tour” and has sold more than 1 million copies of his album, “Unorthodox Jukebox”. In 2010, Mars won a Grammy for the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his number one hit, “Just The Way You Are”. Mars has received a total of 14 Grammy nominations in all.
