  • Alabama Sex Ring Exposed With Disappearance Of Teen Girl

Brittney Wood was last seen on May 30, 2012 with her uncle Donnie Holland, who allegedly killed himself within days of her disappearance. Holland was set to face questioning by authorities for allegations of sexual abuse on the same day he was found, and when people realized the 19-year-old girl was missing, a probe into the sexual abuse allegations was stepped up. Police reportedly unraveled an incestuous Alabama sex ring that involved several of Brittney’s relatives and family friends.

Holland was believed to have been the head of the Alabama sex ring that involved the sexual molestation of 11 to 16 children starting as young as 3 or 4 years old. Some children were allegedly made to watch drug-fueled orgies, and authorities believe that the molestation went on for three generations between two families that merged when Holland married Wendy Wood, aunt of Brittney.

Brittney was a victim of the sex ring and reportedly could have been a key witness. “Brittney could have been huge. She could have corroborated so many things,” said prosecutor Teresa Heinz.

Eight of Wood’s adult relatives, including her mother Chessie Wood, along with three family friends have been charged with dozens of felonies in two counties. They were members of an alleged sex ring that shared children for sex.

Brittney is presumed dead and no one has been charged for her disappearance. However, even without her, two of her uncles and her brother have pled guilty to sex charges, while a family friend was convicted by a jury. Other accused members of the Alabama sex ring are awaiting trial.

Authorities are baffled by how the sexual abuse could have gone on for years with nothing being done about it. One girl reportedly claims that she was abused by an uncle as early as 2008, said Heinz, but welfare workers said the complaint was unsubstantiated.

“You look at these reports and wonder, ‘Why? How did it not go anywhere?’” said Heinz.

  • Alabama Sex Ring Discovered During Search For Teen

Brittney Wood went missing the night of May 30, 2012 and investigators have been working to find the teen ever since. Wood was last seen with her uncle Donnie Holland who has long been a suspect in the case.

Holland was already being investigated for several sex crimes and killed himself just a few days after Brittney went missing.

Police have continued to investigate the case and have found startling evidence of a huge sex ring that involved children, adults and even incest.

Eight of Brittney’s relatives are believed to have been involved with the group, including Holland, who was likely the leader.

The police now believe that Brittney was a victim as well and was likely murdered because she knew too much or had threatened to go to the police with information about the group.

“Brittney could have been huge,” said prosecutor Teresa Heinz to the New York Post. “She could have corroborated so many things.”

Brittney’s own mother and brother have been accused of abusing children and although Brittney’s mother Chessie claims she is innocent, she did admit that many of her family members were guilty of such crimes.

“There are innocent people in this and there are guilty people in this,” Chessie, said in an interview with Fox News. “I don’t know how the judicial system is going to figure it all out because they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.”

Chessie has been accused of having sex with a minor, female relative but claims she did not know anything about the group until after her daughter went missing.

Although the police believe that Brittany is likely dead, her mother said that the number one priority of the police should be to find her daughter and their second priority should be to get the guilty members of the sex ring off of the streets.

Prosecutors have found that there were numerous complaints of child and sexual abuse against many of the group members over the past six years. Child welfare workers do not appear to have investigated the complaints, leaving prosecutors and many others to wonder if Brittney’s disappearance and the abuse of the other children involved in the sex ring could have been prevented.

Investigators are still investigating Brittney’s disappearance and are expecting to find more victims of the sex ring during their investigation.
