  • Brittany Pilkington: Ohio Mom Confessed To Murdering Three Sons, But Why Did She Do It?

Brittany Pilkington of Ohio has admitted to murdering her three small sons within a 13 month timespan, but why did she do it?

As previously reported by WebProNews, emergency responders tried to save her three-month-old baby Noah on Tuesday, a few days after a court returned the child to her.

In April, four-year-old Gavin died and three-month-old Niall died last summer.

It was when paramedics questioned the coincidence that Brittany Pilkington made her confession.

“She has confessed to placing a blanket over the faces of three of her children and holding them either face down or face up until they expired,” prosecutor William Goslee told reporters on Wednesday.

“Everybody that is involved in this is truly emotionally distraught – including myself, quite honestly – and it isn’t because the system failed,” Goslee said. “It’s because this child is dead. This was not a foreseeable event.”

Needless to say, it is still early in the investigation, but one emerging theory is that the 23-year-old mother feared her husband loved her sons more than he loved her and her daughter.

Estranged from most of her family, Brittany Pilkington reportedly told authorities her best friend was her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

“No one could predict the behavior of this mother, a 23-year-old mother who is apparently killing her children in order to preserve the smaller family with her and her daughter and the father of the children,” Goslee said.

Goslee responded to questions about whether Noah and his sister should have been returned to Pilkington.

“The court found there was insufficient evidence to justify keeping the children out of the home because there was no evidence of foul play at the time,” said Goslee. “You cannot predict behavior that is so erratic. Did the system fail? The system failed to see the unforeseeable. … It’s a damn shame.”

  • Brittany Pilkington: Ohio Mom Admits to Murdering Three Small Sons

Brittany Pilkington, a mom from Ohio, has admitted to murdering her three small sons. It was Tuesday when emergency responders tried to save her three-month-old baby Noah, just days after a court returned him to her. Four-year-old Gavin died in April, and three-month-old Niall died last summer. When paramedics arrived to save Noah earlier this week, they noticed a pattern. That’s when Brittany Pilkington made the confession to her horrific crimes.

“She has confessed to placing a blanket over the faces of three of her children and holding them either face down or face up until they expired,” prosecutor William Goslee told reporters on Wednesday.

“No one could predict the behavior of this mother, a 23-year-old mother who is apparently killing her children in order to preserve the smaller family with her and her daughter and the father of the children,” Goslee added.

When questioned about why the court returned baby Noah–as well as his sister, who was unharmed–into Brittany Pilkington’s care, Goslee said, “The court found there was insufficient evidence to justify keeping the children out of the home because there was no evidence of foul play at the time.”

He was then asked if the system failed Noah, as well as the other two sons Brittany Pilkington murdered.

“You cannot predict behavior that is so erratic,” he said. “Did the system fail? The system failed to see the unforeseeable. … It’s a damn shame.”

It is uncertain how Brittany Pilkington killed her first two sons.

Police question if Pilkington may have killed her sons because she believed her husband favored the boys over her and her daughter.

Brittany Pilkington told authorities her best friend was her three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She was estranged from most of her family members.

  • Brittany Pilkington Kills Her Three Sons, Says Husband Did Not Give Daughter Enough Attention

A young mother confessed to killing her three sons over the past thirteen months after she reported that her 3-month-old son was not breathing.

The death of 3-month-old Noah, and the sudden deaths of 4-year-old Gavin Pilkington, who died in April, and 3-month-old Niall Pilkington, who died July 2014, led to the arrest of Brittany Pilkington on Tuesday. She was charged with three counts of murder.

Prosecuter William Goslee made a statement on Wednesday saying, “She has confessed to placing a blanket over the faces of three of her children and holding them either face down or face up until they expired.”

Goslee confirmed that before Noah’s death, a court judge had brought the boy and his young sister back to the family since the cause of the two previous deaths was undetermined at the time. The children were temporarily taken from their family’s custody after Gavin died in April.

The 23-year-old mother called 911 to report that her son was not breathing. She was asked about the cause but the mother claimed that genetics must have been behind their deaths.

However, the authorities believed the deaths were not of natural cause. The mother showed erratic behavior during the course of the investigation. She was said to be calm instead of panicking.

When interrogated by prosecutors, Pilkington admitted that she suffocated them with a blanket. Her confession led the investigators to reopen the case of Gavin and Niall’s deaths.

As to the motive for killing her sons, Pilkington said she was jealous of the attention the father was giving the three boys. She then said that her daughter was being ignored.

Neighbors were certain there was something odd about the mother’s behavior when Gavin died in April. Jim Pilkington, the children’s uncle noticed the same thing during the funeral of his nephew.

Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation together with local authorities are pursuing the investigation.
