  • Ainsley Earhardt Set to Fill Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s Vacancy on “Fox & Friends”

Ainsley Earhardt is moving on up at Fox. The news personality will move from her post at Fox & Friends First to the vacancy caused by Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s departure from Fox & Friends. The Hollywood Reporter says her first day on the new job is February 29, alongside Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. Hasselbeck left the show two months ago.

Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes made an official announcement about Ainsley Earhardt’s upcoming role.

“Ainsley’s relentless work ethic, congeniality and enthusiasm for connecting with our viewers and staff are extremely refreshing,” he said. “She’s a superb team player and an excellent on-air host–we look forward to her joining the show during such a pivotal news year.”

Ainsley Earhardt’s spot on Fox & Friends First will likely be filled by rotating guest hosts until a permanent replacement is found, much in the way Fox & Friends filled Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s empty chair.

Ainsley Earhardt joined Fox News back in 2007 and has served a variety of roles including those of substitute co-host on both Fox & Friends and Fox & Friends First before landing her permanent spot on the latter.

In a statement regarding her promotion, Ainsley Earhardt shared her excitement over her upcoming role on Tuesday.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and am thrilled to join Steve and Brian on the curvy couch to deliver Americans their morning news,” she said.

  • Elisabeth Hasselbeck Says Goodbye to ‘Fox and Friends’ In Emotional Sendoff

Elisabeth Hasselbeck ended her two-and-a-half-year tenure on Fox and Friends Tuesday with an emotional sendoff.

Nearly a month to the day after announcing that she would be stepping down as the Fox morning show co-host to spend more time with her family, Elisabeth Hasselbeck bid farewell to her colleagues.

Co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade joined her on the show’s curved couch to share memories and to say goodbye.

Hasselbeck once again praised Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.

“He gave me two gifts: One, he gave me the opportunity to join you all in this family, and two, he gave me an outstanding amount of understanding and guidance when I made this decision to go home,” said Hasselbeck. “Mr. Ailes, I can’t thank you enough. I can’t thank all of you enough for this chance.”

In saying goodbye to Doocy and Kilmeade, Hasselbeck teared up when the duo surprised her with a large photo of the three of them on set, and said of the Fox and Friends team, “I will be watching you. You are going to continue to do awesome work, like before I came.”

“I’ve been so blessed by all of you,” said Hasselbeck. “Thank you.”

“No, Elisabeth, we have been blessed by you,” replied Doocy and he led the staff in a round of applause

Fox and Friends producers and colleagues also shared some of their favorite moments with the co-host.

“We all met Elisabeth weeks before you guys met Elisabeth,” one of the producers, identified simply as “Kelley,” said in a video of clips from Hasselbeck’s first day on Fox and Friends. “Before she walked down the hallway with the guys, she came around and shook everyone’s hand individually and learned everyone’s names right away. She wanted to impress us, and I think as a staff we all looked around and thought, ‘This is going to be the perfect fit.’”

After leaving ABC’s The View in 2013, Elisabeth Hasselbeck joined the Fox News team. Fox plans to rotate a group of co-hosts on Fox and Friends until a permanent replacement is named.

  • Elisabeth Hasselbeck Undergoes Mysterious Surgery

Elisabeth Hasselbeck reportedly underwent an undisclosed kind of surgery on Monday, and will be absent form Fox & Friends for several weeks. On Wednesday morning, Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle took Elisabeth’s place.

“In case you were wondering where Elisabeth is today and this week, well, she had some surgery yesterday and she’s going to be out for a couple of weeks,” co-host Steve Doocy said on Fox & Friends on Wednesday. “But she’s doing just fine, she’s on the mend.”

“But as you know if you watch the show, she is strong, she is tough and a better athlete than me. We heard from her last night and she said she is feeling good. So, in a short time, she’ll be back on the set,” Brian Kilmeade added.

Part of the mystery surrounding Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s surgery comes straight from something she said, as per a Fox News spokesperson.

“Elisabeth has asked for all to respect her wishes for privacy in regards to further details at this time,” the spokesperson said.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck has been absent from all forms of social media since October 10th, which is unlike the TV personality.

Hasselbeck spent almost 10 years as a cohost of The View, having left the show in July of 2013. She joined the cast of Fox & Friends, replacing Gretchen Carlson, just two months later.

No matter what Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s mysterious surgery on Tuesday may have been for–her fans, friends, and family members are no doubt wishing her a speedy and complete recovery. And given that she will only be absent from Fox & Friends for a ‘couple of weeks,’ it’s probably safe to assume that she isn’t also suffering from a serious mysterious illness as well.
