In most cases, the unexpected drama buzz that starts the week comes from Sunday-night TV shows like “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” or “The Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, that definitely wasn’t the case this Sunday, and even the AMA’s couldn’t overshadow this one. Fox’s hit animated series, “Family Guy” wins the unexpected award for unexpected turns.
So what exactly happened? In an unexpected turn of events, the Griffin family dog was hit by a car. After he was taken to the veterinary hospital, it was announced that he was dying. Brian spoke his final words, and flat-lined on the table! Family Guy’s Brian Griffin was more than just the family dog. Some would say he was arguably the most logical and intelligent member of the Griffin family. That’s one of the things that made his character so humorous. He actually had all of the characteristics of an actual human being. However, he still ended up dying as a dog. While Stewie made an attempt to save him, the damage was already done.

So what now? That’s the question fans around the world are asking. Many were outraged by the abrupt turn of events. Some question how the change will alter the dynamic of the show, as Brian was one of the major characters in the series. Others wonder did he actually die? Hundreds of fans even took to Twitter to weigh in on Brian’s death.

While the tweets kept pouring in, that wasn’t the only method of response fans offered the creators of the show. They’ve also begun to protest. The Orlando Sentinel reported that ‘Family Guy’ have registered a petition on Change.org. The petition, which is directed to ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth MacFarlane, and Fox Broadcasting Company, explained that the character Brian Griffin was a dominant part of the ‘Family Guy’ experience. The online petition also states that the show can expect to lose viewership due to the decision. As of Tuesday, Nov. 25, 37,060 supporters have signed the petition.
A Facebook fan page entitled, “Brian Lives On” was also created in honor of Brian. Since Sunday, the page has picked up 377K likes.

Will Sunday’s episode really be the last of Brian? If fans have any say over the executive decision, he’ll be back. However, it all boils down to what the network and creators have to say, so we’ll just have to see how it all goes.
