Brad Pitt’s Mom Wants Obama Out Of Office

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have famously been supportive of President Obama and even once said they wouldn’t marry one another until everyone, gay or straight, was given the right to marry. Apparently, Pitt’s mom doesn’t share the sentiment.

Jane Pitt, who lives in Missouri, recently wrote an open letter to the Springfield News-Leader voicing her opinion that Mitt Romney is the only real candidate in the upcoming election, noting that he is a “family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality”.

“Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage,” she added.

There’s no word yet from Pitt on how he feels about all this, since he donated $100,000 in 2008 in the battle against Prop 8, which bans same-sex marriage. However, in an interview with People Magazine last year, Pitt made his feelings about the laws very clear.

“No state should decide who can marry and who cannot. Thanks to the tireless work of so many, someday soon this discrimination will end and every American will be able to enjoy their equal right to marriage.”

  • Brad Pitt Zombie Flick World War Z Undergoes Reshoots

Brad Pitt’s zombie flick “World War Z”, which is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by author Max Brooks, is quickly spiraling out of control. The film s rumored to be quite different than the source material, a fact which has not settled too well with those who adore the book. However, fan reaction to the film is currently the least of the production’s problems.

Although the film wrapped production weeks ago, screenwriter Damon Lindelof has been tapped to rewrite the script, which will include alterations to the picture’s finale. Additionally, director Marc Foster is scheduled to return for seven weeks of reshoots, which, as everyone knows, is never a good thing. However, Paramount’s Adam Goodman doesn’t appear to be too concerned about such things.

“The footage from this film looks fantastic, but we all agreed it can have a better ending,” Goodman said of the reshoots. “Getting the ending correct is essential, and we are in that creative process. World War Z is a giant summer movie and we are confident it will be a global hit when it’s released June 2013.”

Produced by Pitt, “World War Z” has faced a number of problems during filming, including a raid on a prop warehouse by the Hungarian anti-terrorism unit. According to the Hollywood Reporter, a source close to the production stated that Marc Foster was essentially out of his element while shooting the picture.

“The director was not empowered. There was nobody that steered the ship,” the source explained. “When you get [a director] who can’t do it all, you get a struggle as to whose is the singular voice. They just couldn’t get it right. There was a lot of spinning of plates, a lot of talking. [But] they did not have a plan.”

In order to make changes to the film’s final act, Paramount has moved the release date from December 21st, 2012 to June 21, 2013. Earlier this year, the studio bumped “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” from its original June 2012 release to March of 2013 in order to convert the film to 3D and add increase Chaning Tatum’s screen time.

  • Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Are Officially Engaged

Superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are now officially set to marry, after many months of rumors and speculation.

Pitt’s manager, Cynthia Pitt-Dante, confirmed that he has given her a ring–which he had custom-made and helped design–although no date is set yet.

“Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy,” she said.

The actors, who met on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2005, have six children together (a mixture of both adopted and biological kids) and have become almost as well known for their philanthropy and family life as they have for their films, have said that an official union means a lot to their kids.

“The kids ask about marriage,” Pitt said last year. “It’s meaning more and more to them. So it’s something we’ve got to look at.”

The couple has been together so long that many people thought they were already married.

  • James Bond Now Sips Heineken Too

James Bond Now Sips Heineken Too

In the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall, Daniel Craig will put down his traditional shaken martini, and drink a Heineken in at least one scene, according to Ad Age. Heineken USA is reportedly using the .007 franchise to market its flagship beer this year.

Skyfall director Sam Mendes is also set to produce a Heineken commercial with actor Craig, which will coincide with the release of the film.

The new ad campaign will also include Bond images on packaging, and will be the largest integration spanning the 15-year partnership between Heineken and the .007 franchise. Lesya Lysyj, CMO of Heineken USA, states that James Bond “is a perfect fit for us – the epitome of the man of the world.” Bond will be the name of the beers global campaign.

Heineken is the second-largest beer import in the U.S., behind Corona, but it has struggled to advance in the market in recent years. Heineken shipments fell 2.9% in 2011, according to Beer Marketer’s Insights. But sales are on the up, growing 3% in the last year to $585 million.

Heineken has in the past paired a film director and an actor of the same movie for a commercial. Fight Club director David Fincher once filmed Brad Pitt in a nonsensical beer ad promoting the brand:

  • YouTube: Rob Reiner Presents ‘8,’ Play About Marriage Equality

Google has previously shown their support for marriage equality with their lovely Valentine’s Day Google doodle. YouTube will now be broadcasting a stage production on equal rights.

Rob Reiner, famous actor and director, took to the YouTube blog today to announce that YouTube will be live streaming the reading of a new play titled “8.” The play is a dramatization of the Proposition 8 trial in California.

The play was written by Dustin Lance Black, who has won an Academy Award for his screenplay for the 2008 film “Milk.” The play is “an account of the case filed by the American Foundation for Equal Rights in the U.S. District Court in 2010 to overturn Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that eliminated the rights of same-sex couples to marry in the state of California.” The play is centered around the closing arguments of the trial in June 2010.

Rob Reiner, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Jamie Lee Curtis and other big names will be performing the play live from the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, California.

The play will be live streamed from the AFER YouTube channel on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. PT. The pre-show begins at 7:30 p.m. PT.

  • Yahoo! Data Picks “War Horse” For Best Picture Academy Award

Yahoo! thinks they’ve decoded the mysterious voting process for the Academy Awards and it’s all based on the strength of search trends related to nominees. The search data is a pretty good measure of what the public favors the most, but whether that reflects the will of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Based on the fact that Yahoo! users searched for it more than any of the other Best Picture nominee, the company is predicting “War Horse” to be the winner for the award. The movie had 80% more searches than the second-ranked Best Picture contender, “The Arist.” As search data goes, “War Horse” also blew away the search data for the other Best Picture contenders, “The Tree of Life,” “Hugo,” and “Midnight in Paris.”

“’War Horse’ seems to be the fan favorite, but this is a competitive category,” said Thelma Adams, contributing editor for Yahoo! Movies. “’Hugo’ has broad appeal, but at the end of the night I think ‘The Artist’ has the best shot this year. ‘The Help’ is also a frontrunner, but it is showing a little bit of weakness as it was not nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.”

As for Best Actress and Best Actor, Yahoo! applied a similar method to predict who will receive those awards. According to their data, Yahoo! picks Rooney Mara and Brad Pitt for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively.

“Brad Pitt is winning when it comes to searches, but I don’t think ‘Moneyball’ is going to win him the Oscar this year,” says Adams. “Clooney, on the other hand, wants it and I think he will get it. And, if I just went for performances, I’d vote for Gary Oldman, who is such a complete chameleon.”

As for the Best Actress category, Adams adds, “This will be a close call, and not for Mara, my vote is Viola Davis, just barely edging out Meryl Streep.”

The Internet: like looking into a future-telling sieve.

  • Brad Bitt Laughing, The Headcrab Cat, and a Lazy Jedi

A viral video is one that becomes popular through the process of Internet sharing, via social media, sharing sites, or good ‘ole email. Everyday we highlight some of the best that are currently viral and some that are trending that way.

Today’s videos feature a Fus Ro Dah! Cat, an incredible digital rug, a Fresh Prince remix we can all love, and Seth Rogen being very uncomfortable.

You know how when someone starts laughing and can’t stop, how that instinctively makes you laugh? It goes double when the person laughing is Brad Pitt (this is a recording from a Moneyball DVD feature, so it might be taken down)

For those who are from England and want to visit the US, never make a bet that involves us being able to eat or drink. We REALLY know how to do it.

Ok, the guy in the video does look like Gordon Freeman from Half-Life, which makes this a Headcrab Cat.

If I were the chancellor of the internet, I would give this creator an award for winning it. Because anyone that can make me say “awesome Hello by Lionel Ritchie video” deserves something.

    Hello from ant1mat3rie on Vimeo.

We have a double dose of cat & video game related videos today. Which probably won’t happen again. Some feline FUS RO DAH.

Do or do not, there is no…wait, you’re not even going to try are you? Nope.

This is a first person Prom Night. It really is an amazing video, with some subtle yet appealing effects.

PROM NIGHT from celia rowlson-hall on Vimeo.

I have been a long time rug hater. I swore I would never put a rug in my house. After seeing this one, I’m probably going to be a hypocrite.

Some extra love and care went into this Fresh Prince remix. It’s sneakily catchy.

Thanks Rogen, for making a small segment with Kate Beckinsale really uncomfortable. My favorite aspect of this video is at the end when we realize Jodie Foster’s kids had to hear Seth Rogen say ‘erection’.

  • EBay Taps The Power Of Celebrity To Raise Money For Charity

EBay Taps The Power Of Celebrity To Raise Money For Charity

eBay is teaming up with various celebrities to build a charity auction destination that harnesses the power of celeb culture and uses it for good.

You can already see evidence of our fascination with celebrities by performing a quick eBay search. Whether it’s something basic like a guitar pick autographed by Eric Clapton or something a little more extreme like a T-shirt worn by a Jonas brother – eBay has become a destination for people looking to buy and sell items that have been touched by celebrity in some way.

And celebrity.ebay.com is tapping into that potential for a good cause.

The new site, which launched on Monday, provides a platform for celebrity items or celebrity experiences to be auctioned – with the proceeds going to the particular celeb’s charity of choice.

For instance, one current auction with 9 days remaining is for the chance to hang out with Brad Pitt for a night. Right now, the current bid is $10,000. All of the money generated from the auction will go to Pitt’s cause, the Make It Right Foundation – a program that builds homes for New Orleans residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Another example is with Katy Perry, whose sequined red dress will go up for auction on November 9th. All proceeds for that will benefit the American Red Cross.

As of launch day, there are 13 celebrities involved in the project inlcuding NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson, famous actor Robert Duvall, boxer Vladimir Klitschko and NFL athlete Troy Polamalu.

As you can see, each celeb has their own page that includes information on their charity, as well as any current auctions taking place. The page also suggests other eBay searches based on the celebs’ interests and links to associated eBay items.

So even though eBay isn’t taking a portion of the proceeds, they will benefit from the new initiative.

“We know that our customers have been coming to eBay specifically to look for and connect with their favorite charities and celebrities,” says eBay CMO Richelle Parham. “For many years, the eBay platform has been the choice for celebrities who are looking to raise funds for their charities.”

Celeb-crazy fans will pay an unbelievable amount of money to own items that bring them closer to the culture – no matter what the cause. So why not benefit the less fortunate is the process?
