  • Josh Duggar Subject of Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood Joke at CMAs

Josh Duggar managed to eek himself in to the 2015 CMAs on Wednesday night. His cheating scandal was the topic of a joke told by hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

Amy Duggar King is Josh Duggar’s cousin. Her husband, Dillon King, taped the joke about Josh Duggar with his phone, and shared it with his followers on Instagram.

“Carrie, have you heard that duet Blake did with Ashley Madison?” Brad Paisley asked Underwood.

“No, no, that was Ashley Monroe,” Carrie replied.

“Have I been going to the wrong site?” Paisley replied. “We don’t have to be lonely at farmersonly.com…. And your sister, tooooo. Your cheating side will tell on you… Josh Duggar.”

“@bradpaisley you are the man !!! #bestthingever #cmt #cmtawards,” Dillon King captioned the post, that has since been taken down.

Josh Duggar was outed during the Ashley Madison website hack this past summer. He admitted afterward to cheating on his wife, Anna Duggar, and to having an addiction to pornography.

It’s interesting that Blake Shelton was also part of Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s banter, since rumors have been flying about him dating his fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani. A rep for Shelton issued a statement yesterday saying these rumors are, in fact, true.

Did you catch the 2015 CMAs Wednesday night?

What did you think of Josh Duggar finding his way onto two shows in one night? Law & Order: SVU aired a show loosely based on the 19 Kids and Counting family on Wednesday night, too.

  • Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton: Will Things Get Awkward at Tonight’s 2015 CMAs?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton will likely have all eyes on them at tonight’s 2015 CMA Awards. In addition to both gracing the lineup of performers–and both receiving several nominations–there are no planned reunions on live TV. Because of their divorce this summer, however, the two will no doubt be watched rather closely.

In addition to Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s divorce fueling much speculation, Blake Shelton’s recent rumored relationship with Gwen Stefani might cause some uncomfortable questions of both parties at the CMAs.

Do you think anyone would be so brazen as to address the proverbial elephant in the room?

Last year Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton attended the CMA Awards as a married couple. Oh, what a difference a year makes.

Both have told reporters since word of their split hit the media in July that they are on amicable terms.

Might that not still be the case in light of the Gwen Stefani rumors?

While a guest last week on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Blake Shelton talked about that ever-looming elephant.

“This year’s gonna be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes,” he said. “Because…it’s such a family. Everybody there is friends. There’s gotta be one about me and Miranda. [Host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go ‘Ha ha!’ You have to address the elephant in the room.”

Do you expect all will go off without a hitch for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton at tonight’s CMAs?

You don’t think Blake invited his fellow Voice coach along as his guest–do you?

  • Carrie Underwood And Brad Paisley Confirmed To Host 49th CMA Awards In November

The hosts of the upcoming Country Music Awards (CMA) are revealed and they are none other than Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. Underwood and Paisley will team up for the eighth time in eight years!

The two country singers will host the Country Music Awards in November as hinted during the airing of ABC’s CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock special. The special featured Underwood and Paisley’s best hosting moments from the previous years.

The hosts are both Country Music Awards winners since they began their careers. In fact, Underwood bagged five CMA Awards since winning the reality singing contest American Idol. Her awards include Female Vocalist of the Year for three consecutive years- 2006, 2007 and 2008. She also won Single of the Year in 2007 and took home the Horizon Award in 2006.

Paisley, 42, has an impressively long list of CMA Awards. He has won Male Vocalist of the year in three straight years-2007, 2008 and 2009. He also bagged the Horizon Award in 2000, Music Video of the Year  for four different music videos he produced and Musical Event of the Year for several titles including “Start a Band” a collaboration with Keith Urban. He also won Album of the Year for Time Well Wasted in 2006 and in 2010 was hailed Entertainer of the Year. He has a total of 14 CMA awards to date, making him number 5 on the list of CMA winners in the history.

Expect the announcement of the nominees on Wednesday, Sept.9 . The 49th annual Country Music Awards will be airing live from Nashville on Nov. 4, 8 pm on ABC.

  • Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley Return To Host County Music Awards Show For Eighth Straight Year

Carrie Underwood and her hosting sidekick Brad Paisley will return to host the Country Music Association Awards on ABC this fall for an eighth straight year.

Scheduled for Nov. 4, the 49th annual awards show will air live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Paisley, who is currently touring on his Crushin’ It World Tour and has just joined Blake Shelton as a judge on The Voice, has won 14 CMA awards, making him No. 5 on the list of top CMA winners of all time.

Meanwhile, new momma Carrie Underwood has seven Grammy Awards and five CMA awards of her own.

The live show not only recognizes the top county music performances of the year, it features live performances and one-of-a-kind collaborations from many of the biggest names in country music.

Carrie Underwood and Paisley have their own unique hosting routine and surprises are always expected. Last year, Paisley “accidentally” blurted out the sex of Underwood’s baby. It was a boy, by the way.

A promo clip shows just how cute the county duo can be and why they have returned for eight straight years.

The nominees in each of the 12 categories, including Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Song, Single and Entertainer of the Year, will be announced on Sept. 9.

Who’s tuning in to see what shenanigans Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley get into for the 2015 CMA Awards?

“>his first interview after finalizing his divorce from Miranda Lambert, which aired on Entertainment Tonight this week.

The newly single Blake Shelton, 39, sat down beside fellow country superstar Brad Paisley, who is joining Shelton and the other judges on The Voice, with a cup in hand, reportedly filled with “a little vodka” and ice.

“I thought I’d go ahead and get it started early,” Shelton joked. “It’s been one of those weeks.”

When asked how he was doing, Shelton replied, “Well, I got divorced.”

Shelton and Lambert announced their split on July 20 in a joint statement after four years of marriage.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” the couple said in their statement. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.”

It was only a matter of hours when news came that they had already finalized their divorce.

The couple continued to interact with each other on Twitter despite the split.

Lambert made fun of bizarre paparazzi pics of Shelton pushing a stroller with a drink in his hand.

“I knew it…. You WERE pregnant!” Lambert tweeted. “This calls for a drink!,” to which Shelton responded, “Ha!!!!! Busted… I wasn’t JUST a fat ass. Drinking shall now begin…”

According to Us Weekly, despite putting on a happy facade, the former couple are “heartbroken” and “devastated” by the end of their marriage.

Last week, Us reported that Blake Shelton and his former wife want to “move on as friends” and “there are no hard feelings.”

  • Ringo Starr, Lenny Kravitz, Brad Paisley: Stars Mourn Passing of B.B. King

Ringo Starr, Lenny Kravitz, Brad Paisley, and more took to social media on Friday to mourn the passing of blues legend B.B. King. The guitar player died in his sleep on Thursday at the age of 89.

B.B. King had long suffered from type 2 diabetes, having been diagnosed more than 20 years ago. He had experienced a number of health issues in recent months, and was hospitalized in April for dehydration. King was forced to cancel a string of tour dates due to his poor health.

A lawyer for B.B. King said Ringo Starr was among the first of many to offer his condolences.

Starr expressed his sadness via Twitter.

Country singer Brad Paisley followed Ringo Starr’s lead, tweeting the following.

Lenny Kravitz followed suit, sharing his thoughts on the blue legend’s death via Twitter, too.

Despite the differences in the types of music Ringo Starr, Brad Paisley, and Lenny Kravitz perform, there’s no doubt they’ve all been inspired by B.B. King’s talent and channeled it into their own work at some point in their careers.

It was less than five months ago when Ringo Starr was sharing his condolences for the passing of Joe Cocker via Twitter as well.

Surely as word spreads that B.B. King has died, Ringo Starr and the rest of those expressing their thoughts and feelings over his passing will reach an unfathomable number. Whether part of the music world or not, most everyone knew of and loved the musician.

  • Carrie Underwood: Brad Paisley Can’t Keep Her Secret

There is one sure thing we learned from last night’s Country Music Awards. If you have a secret, don’t tell Brad Paisley.

We already knew that Season 4 American Idol Champ Carrie Underwood was pregnant. What we didn’t know was the sex of the baby. In a cute bit during the opening at the CMA Awards last night, where Underwood and Paisley have served as co-hosts seven times, Paisley “gave away” the big reveal.

“We’re pregnant!” Paisley declared. “Can you please just tell me what we’re having?”

“I don’t remember you being there,” Underwood responded. Then she whispered the secret in Paisley’s ear.

“I know something ya’ll don’t know — suck it TMZ!” Paisley teased. But Paisley is apparently not too good with secrets. “We could name him Garth.”

“What are you doing?” Underwood asked. “You kept that secret for a whole two minutes!”

This is the first baby for the country music star and husband Mike Fisher, who plays center in the NHL for the Nashville Predators. The baby boy is due in the spring.

Garth Brooks was actually at the ceremony last night to present the biggest honor of the evening, the award for entertainer of the year. Luke Bryan, who had been nominated four other times, finally took home the trophy. When Bryan approached the mic, he turned to Brooks, and asked, “First of all, I’ve never met Garth. Hey, Garth. Can I hug you again?” Bryan’s wish was granted, and the two country legends shared a quick embrace.

After the opening, Paisley took to Twitter to send out a selfie with what he hopes will be Underwood’s boy’s namesake. He tweeted, “Wanna see my Garth selfie just before I let the cat out of the bag? Lil’ Garth Fisher. Just sayin’ #bradblewit.”

  • Blake Shelton Sets Record For No.1 Singles On Billboard Country Airplay Chart

He has quickly become one of the most popular and successful male country performers, and Blake Shelton recently set the record for No.1 singles on the Billboard airplay chart for country music.

Blake Shelton is set to co-host the Academy Of Country Music awards along with Luke Bryan, which is set to air on Sunday, April 6th. He also has a big television gig as one of the coaches of The Voice, and his fellow star of the show, Shakira, will be joining him for a duet during the award show.

Shakira recently released her single “Medicine,” which features Blake Shelton, and the song debuted at No. 57 on Billboard’s Country Airplay. It was the 35th time that Shelton had a song on the chart, but only the first for Shakira. The song is featured on Shakira’s self-titled album that was released on March 25th.

This is the first time that Shakira has made an attempt at a country album, but has been around Shelton for the past few years, and may have soaked up some of his music style. Speaking on the new single, she said “When I wrote the song I didn’t know what direction to go in and I did like eight versions. Dance, pop…but I said no, this is a country song.”

In order to break the record for most No.1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, he had his 11th single make it to the top, for his single “Doin’ What She Likes.” He was previously tied with Brad Paisley, who had 10 No.1 singles from 2005 to 2009.

The Nielsen BDS-based Billboard Country Airplay chart was launched the week of January 20th, 1990. Following behind Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley are Zack Brown Band with seven, and Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith, who both have six.

In addition to his co-hosting duties at this Sunday’s ACM Awards, Blake Shelton is nominated in five different categories including Male Vocalist Of The Year. For a full list of the nominations, check of the ACM Awards website. He is also nominated for Entertainer of The Year, along with his wife, Miranda Lambert, who also received a female vocalist nomination.

After racking up 11 No.1 singles, he may have some momentum heading into the awards show. What awards will Blake Shelton end up getting?

  • Kimberly Williams-Paisley Knows Hubby Wouldn’t Cheat

Kimberly Williams-Paisley knows hubby Brad Paisley wouldn’t cheat on her, so when rumors of him cheating on her with Carrie Underwood recently ran wild, she simply laughed them off. The Nashville actress even had to be told about the rumors by an Us Weekly reporter.

“Am I in the National Enquirer?” she asked when Us brought up news of the rumor. “You’re breaking it to me! What did I do?”

Kimberly Williams-Paisley is absolutely certain that the only thing her husband and Carrie Underwood did together recently was perform an amazing monologue, mocking Obamacare, at the 2013 CMAs. She certainly can’t fault him for that–it’s part of his job. Plus, Carrie Underwood recently said in Redbook magazine that she trusts her husband, Mike Fisher, more than anyone she knows. Why would she jeopardize something as precious as that kind of contentment?

Brad and Kimberly Paisley-Williams’s marriage seems quite strong. They try to maintain as normal a family life as possible for themselves and their children, Huck, who is 6 and Jasper, who is 4.

“We have family Sundays together,” Williams-Paisley says. “We spend as much time as we can. We’re very down-to-earth people. We come from good families, and we appreciate family.”

This is pretty impressive for a family where both Mom and Dad are celebrities. Sometimes the average American family can’t manage to eat dinner together once a week.

Good for Kimberly Williams-Paisley for laughing off rumors about Brad Paisley cheating on her with Carrie Underwood–or with anyone, for that matter. Kimberly trusts in her husband the way Carrie Underwood trusts in hers. How nice that both of these country music couples are able to enjoy such strong and loving marriages.

  • Kimberly Williams-Paisley: Is Brad Cheating?

Country music super-star, Brad Paisley, and his wife, actress, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, keep their names, for the most part, out of the gossip circle. However, new rumors are circulating that Brad is having an affair with his CMA co-host, Carrie Underwood. Brad and Kimberly have been together for ten years, and Kimberly has assured us that her husband is not having an affair. She actually thinks it is quite funny that people are even saying that he would be.

Kimberly did not even know that the rumors were being spread until Us Weekly confronted her about them during the 5th Annual African Children’s Choir Gala.

“Am I in the National Enquirer?” she asked. “You’re breaking it to me! What did I do?” While laughing she said, “Are you serious? Wow! I hope it helps our careers! That’s all I can say.”

Kimberly says her marriage is stronger than ever and that the rumors are ridiculous. They have two boys together, six-year-old, Huck, and 4-year-old, Jasper, and Kimberly says they spend as much time as they can together as a family. “We have family Sundays together,” she said. “We spend as much time as we can. We’re very down-to-earth people. We come from good families, and we appreciate family.”

  • Obamacare CMAs: Country Music Awards Go Political

By now we’ve seen Obamacare mocked by, well, pretty much everyone. SNL got their jabs in, Jon Stewart skewered the healthcare plan on his show (“Democrats can’t spin this turd,” Stewart said) and now it has served as fodder for a skit during the Country Music Awards.

Maybe that comes a little out of left field since the CMAs are supposed to be about country music, but that is exactly what happened when Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the show on Wednesday night. The two did a skit making fun of Obamacare, complete with Paisley strumming his guitar and singing a song.

Watch the entire segment including the lead-up to the skit below (the Obamacare part starts at around the 3:00 mark):

What did you think of Paisley and Underwood’s Obamacare skit? Respond below.

“Ow! Oh God! I twerked my back! I twerked it good!” Paisley yelled while he and Underwood were in the middle of a song. After Underwood told Paisley he wasn’t using “twerking” properly, Paisley responded with, “Yes it is, twerking is a medical term Carrie.”

After a couple more jokes, the conversation eventually steered to the new healthcare marketplace. “Hey, do you have that Obamacare?” Underwood asked Paisley, much to the crowd’s delight. Paisley pretended not to know what Obamacare is, so Underwood pulled out a laptop to show off the beleaguered Obamacare website.

“Oh it’s great, it’s great…I started signing up last Thursday and I’m almost done!” Underwood said enthusiastically. “Let’s go to the website and get you signed up!”

Naturally, jokes about the glitchy website were made. “Why’s it spinning? Why is it smoking?” Paisley asked. The pair then broke into a song:

“Obamacare by morning …Why is it taking so long? I’m gonna wind up with hemorrhoids, if I sit here till dawn. Well, I’ve got cataracts and dementia, oh this is getting on my last nerve. Obamacare by morning, over six people served!”

Let’s just say that some people enjoyed the skit more so than others. The skit spurred Twitter rants from more liberal users and high praises from conservative users.

  • Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Husband Are Victims of Online Cancer Hoax

Internet hoaxes are nothing new, unfortunately, and they range from tricking someone into thinking they’re falling in love with someone to scamming people out of their hard-earned money. The latest hoax is targeting celebrities and works by playing on their emotions by sending a letter from a child dying with cancer.

Nashville star Kimberly Williams-Paisley and husband Brad Paisley found themselves the victims of such a hoax last year and have decided to go public with it.

Back in September of 2012, an email was sent to Kimberly requesting that she get in touch with a woman’s 8-year-old daughter who was dying from neuroblastoma, a type of cancer. The family wasn’t asking for any money–they just wanted Kimberly to get in touch with the young girl because she was such a big fan.

Read the email that was sent to Kimberly Williams-Paisley and obtained by ABC below.

    From: Carrie Kahler
    Subject: Claire/ Kimberly Williams
    Date: September 3, 2012 8:04:54 PM PDT
    To:

Hello, my name is Carrie Kahler. I have an eight year old daughter Claire who is suffering from end stage cancer (neuroblastoma). A couple weeks ago Claire asked me If I could “find” Miss Kimberly for her. I told her I would do my best but made no promises. Well, to be honest with all the chaos and excitement that ensued with Claire coming home from the hospital with hospice. I forgot. However Claire reminded me earlier today. I asked Claire why it was so important for me to find miss Kimberly for her she said, “Mommy miss Kimberly deserves to know how much she has helped me. She left fingerprints on my heart.” After hearing that I decided I would do whatever I could to let Kimberly know about Claire.

Please know we are not wanting or asking for anything from you or Kimberly. Claire is going to be with Jesus very soon. Nothing on this earth is going to save her from that.

Claire has written a very sweet letter for Kimberly and would like her to read it before she passes away. I don’t know if that is possible. I was hoping to email Claire’s letter to you and maybe you could forward it to Kimberly. Claire knows Kimberly from a movie “The Christmas Shoes”.

She doesn’t know who she is married to or that she has made other movies. I promise we want nothing. If you cannot forward claires letter can you pass along this message from her to Kimberly?

“Miss Kimberly thank you for making my heart so happy. You have a very pretty heart. Lots of grown ups can’t see it but I can. I will never forget how you made me feel the first time I saw your movie. You made me feel so brave and I’m not scared to die because you helped me be brave. I love you. Love, Claire.”

    love from the Kahler family

David Carrie Claire Conner and Caleb

“It sounded very sort of real,” Kimberly said. “But she wasn’t dying to get a hold of me. You know, that was kind of the beginning of the manipulation. As a mother, wanting my kids to be okay, she hit my softest spot.”

The mother even sent pictures of her daughter as well as recordings of songs the girl had sung for Kimberly. Needless to say, Kimberly and Brad were sold. They ended up communicating with the girl and her mother and Brad sang Amazing Grace to the girl on the phone at one point.

“You’re singing to someone’s dying kid,” Brad said. “And in the middle of it, there’s no way that’s not real. How can that not be real?

    The truth comes out.

The hoax was revealed after the mother told Kimberly and Brad that the girl had died. When the couple wanted to send flowers, the woman refused to give her address. She then sent Kimberly an email saying, “I don’t need you to pray for me. Doesn’t seem like god hears much of anything these days.”

After doing some investigating, Kimberly and Brad discovered that they were the victims of a hoax and that the woman had been using pictures of another child with cancer to trick them. The woman apparently took pictures off another mom’s blog that tracked the progress of her child with neuroblastoma.

“That’s the sickest part about this to me,” Brad Paisley said. “That is the part that when I start to talk about that, that’s when I get really mad. That there were real kids, that there were real photos involved.”

Apparently, the Paisleys aren’t the only celebrities that have been victimized by this emotional hoax. Natalie Grant, band members from Little Big Town and reality TV star Kate Gosselin are just a few celebrities that have been tricked.

Kimberly says that she and her husband decided to come out on the hoax to hopefully prevent others from being victimized. “We really wanted to come out and talk about it publicly just to draw attention to what can happen so that people are aware,” she said. “When they put their kids online, pictures of their kids online, things like this can happen.”

  • CMA Awards: George Strait and Taylor Swift

CMA Awards: George Strait and Taylor Swift

The 47th annual Country Music Association Awards were in full swing last night with many great performances from our country music superstars. Hosting this year’s CMA awards again were Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood who kept us laughing most of the night with their jokes about Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Obama Care, and the many country music feuds.

There were many highlights during the awards ceremony last night, but the two that stood out the most were, Taylor Swift accepting her Pinnacle Award and George Strait receiving the award for the Entertainer of the Year.

Although Taylor knew she would be receiving the award, she did not know that all of the performers that she had opened for, at one time or another, were going to be presenting it to her. They also had a video montage made to document and highlight her achievements. Swift is only the second person to ever receive the Pinnacle Award. The first was Garth Brooks in 2005. She was overwhelmed while accepting the award and said, “You’ve made me feel so special right now, thank you.” She later took to Twitter to say, “I’m never going to forget this. Ever ever ever.”

    http://youtu.be/rNoit4mACZc

George Strait was definitely riding away in style last night with one of the biggest awards of the night. Strait won Entertainer of the Year, his third ever, and first since 1990. It was a very touching moment as Strait made his way to the stage with all of his fellow singers rising in a standing ovation. This year, Strait did his last tour before retiring, “The Cowboy Rides Away Tour”.

“When I first started out this year, the first few shows, I about lost it every night, you know, leaving the stage … thinking, ‘This might be the last time I ever play on this stage again,’” Strait said. Even if he never plays again, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest country music singers of all time.

None of the other nominees were disappointed that they did not win the award and felt Strait was the most deserving. “That’s how it needs to be because he’s not just entertainer of the year, he’s entertainer of the last three decades, I guess, or four decades,” Blake Shelton said. “I don’t know who’s keeping score. I mean, it’s George Strait. He’s King George. I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out.”

The complete list of winners is listed below:

Musical Event of the Year – “Highway Don’t Care” Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban

Music Video of the Year – “Highway Don’t Care” Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban

  • Carrie Underwood: Broadcasts, Musicals, & CMA Awards

Carrie Underwood has been a busy woman lately! With co-hosting “Good Morning America”, her upcoming move to New York for her starring role in “The Sound of Music”, and the announcement that she will be co-hosting the CMA Awards again this year, it seems as though we will be seeing a lot of the country music super-star in the upcoming months.

Many may not know this about the former American Idol, but Carrie graduated from college with a degree in communications and journalism from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. She tested the waters at becoming a news anchor by co-hosting Good Morning America. Carrie delivered the “Pop News” section of the show, and was flawless! Is Carrie thinking of making a career change? Check out the video to see for yourself.

    http://youtu.be/Gw3QUY1plS4

Some other interesting “Carrie” news: Carrie has been cast for the role as Maria von Trapp in “The Sound of Music”. Julie Andrews first made this role famous in the original movie from 1965, and Carrie will be making the move to the “Big Apple” to try and fill Andrew’s shoes. The musical will be presented live on NBC December 5, 2013, for all to see.

Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn’t be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp. She was an iconic woman who will now be played by an iconic artist.
    NBC’s chairman Bob Greenblatt

Last but not least…Carrie has agreed to co-host, alongside Brad Paisley, the CMA awards again this year, making it the sixth consecutive year for the duo. The President of the CMA Board of Directors made a statement saying, “Carrie and Brad are the consummate hosts. They have the respect of our industry, artistic credibility, critical acclaim, and a quick-witted, genuine rapport that makes them popular with our audience and the viewers at home. We are delighted to have them back as hosts for the sixth year.”

  • ‘Accidental Racist’ Spoof Declares: Racism’s Over Y’All [Video]

To ensure that the Brad Paisley/LL Cool J song “Accidental Racist” remains a topic of conversation for at least another day or two, SNL offered a spoof of the song on Saturday night’s Vince Vaughn-hosted episode.

Vaughn didn’t appear in the sketch, however, which came as part of “Weekend Update”. Kenan Thompson played LL Cool J, and Jason Sudeikis played Paisley. Most of the sketch is simply their attempt at defending the song, which has drawn a great amount of controversy and ridicule, but they did, of course, offer some new lyrics.

For example, Thompson’s Cool J offers, “If you think NCIS is good, I’ll forget the Aryan Brotherhood.”

In case you haven’t heard the actual song, one of the real lyrics is: “If you don’t judge my gold chains, I’ll forget the iron chains.”

  • Accidental Racist: Twitter And YouTube React To Brad Paisley, LL Cool J Song

Brad Paisley, as you probably know by now, has a new song called “Accidental Racist,” which features LL Cool J. It’s getting a lot of media attention, and generating a lot of discussion in social media.

Good luck trying to find it on YouTube. You can find it on Spotify, if you’re so inclined. Here’s what some are saying about it on Twitter:

Some of the reactions on YouTube have been interesting:

Here are the lyrics (via AZLyrics):

To the man that waited on me at the Starbucks down on Main, I hope you understand
When I put on that t-shirt, the only thing I meant to say is I’m a Skynyrd fan
The red flag on my chest somehow is like the elephant in the corner of the south
And I just walked him right in the room
Just a proud rebel son with an ‘ol can of worms
Lookin’ like I got a lot to learn but from my point of view

I’m just a white man comin’ to you from the southland
Tryin’ to understand what it’s like not to be
I’m proud of where I’m from but not everything we’ve done
And it ain’t like you and me can re-write history
Our generation didn’t start this nation
We’re still pickin’ up the pieces, walkin’ on eggshells, fightin’ over yesterday
And caught between southern pride and southern blame

They called it Reconstruction, fixed the buildings, dried some tears
We’re still siftin’ through the rubble after a hundred-fifty years
I try to put myself in your shoes and that’s a good place to begin
But it ain’t like I can walk a mile in someone else’s skin

‘Cause I’m a white man livin’ in the southland
Just like you I’m more than what you see
I’m proud of where I’m from but not everything we’ve done
And it ain’t like you and me can re-write history
Our generation didn’t start this nation
And we’re still paying for mistakes
That a bunch of folks made long before we came
And caught between southern pride and southern blame

Dear Mr. White Man, I wish you understood
What the world is really like when you’re livin’ in the hood
Just because my pants are saggin’ doesn’t mean I’m up to no good
You should try to get to know me, I really wish you would
Now my chains are gold but I’m still misunderstood
I wasn’t there when Sherman’s March turned the south into firewood
I want you to get paid but be a slave I never could
Feel like a new fangled Django, dodgin’ invisible white hoods
So when I see that white cowboy hat, I’m thinkin’ it’s not all good
I guess we’re both guilty of judgin’ the cover not the book
I’d love to buy you a beer, conversate and clear the air
But I see that red flag and I think you wish I wasn’t here

    I’m just a white man
(If you don’t judge my do-rag)
Comin’ to you from the southland
(I won’t judge your red flag)
Tryin’ to understand what it’s like not to be

I’m proud of where I’m from
(If you don’t judge my gold chains)
    But not everything we’ve done
    (I’ll forget the iron chains)
it ain’t like you and me can re-write history
    (Can’t re-write history baby)

    Oh, Dixieland
(The relationship between the Mason-Dixon needs some fixin’)
I hope you understand what this is all about
(Quite frankly I’m a black Yankee but I’ve been thinkin’ about this lately)
I’m a son of the new south
(The past is the past, you feel me)
And I just want to make things right
    (Let bygones be bygones)
Where all that’s left is southern pride
(RIP Robert E. Lee but I’ve gotta thank Abraham Lincoln for freeing me, know what I mean)
    It’s real, it’s real
    It’s truth
