Ariel Winter Asks For Opinions On Her Bikini

Ariel Winter is packing her bikini for a Spring Break getaway and on Thursday, she took to Instagram to ask for opinions on whether or not to take a cute chevron print string bikini that she modeled.

Of course, most people know how dangerous it can be to look to the collective internet for advice when you’re baring it all.

However, Ariel Winter wasn’t scared. In Hollywood, one must have a thick skin.

After all, Ariel Winter is used to being criticized.

    For #springbreak or nah?

After having breast reduction surgery and subsequently showing her scars in this year’s Oscars dress, Ariel Winter took a hit or two from those who must always give an opinion.

Ariel Winter also caught some crap for a picture she posted of herself in a swimsuit with her nieces. Some comments implied that she was “asking for it” and dressed like a slut.

    But, Ariel Winter hit back.

Ariel Winter posted a picture to her Instagram of a woman’s leg with different levels of “asking for it” drawn on the back in parody.

Who knew that an innocent photo with my nieces would turn into this? The height of a girl's skirt or whatever she is wearing for that matter, does not imply what she is asking for. It sickens me to think at 17 years old, a photo of myself with my nieces is suggesting that I'm "asking for it". I typically never give power to the mean things people bravely say behind their computer screens on the Internet, but this is for the girls who are constantly bullied whether it be online or at school.. You are not asking for anything because of what you are wearing- you are expressing yourself and don't you ever think you deserve the negativity as the consequence to what you are wearing- YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Celebrate you and don't let anyone's comments allow you to think less of yourself. Us girls have to stick together!!!!!!

  • Melissa McCarthy Wants Women To Embrace Their Bodies, Graces Cover Of Redbook

Actress Melissa McCarthy has made a name for herself through her unique brand of physical comedy, but now she is expanding her image by advocating body positivity among women.

The funnywoman is the cover star of Redbook Magazine’s April issue, in which she can be seen rocking a flowy white blouse paired with white skintight pants, textured brown and beige blazer, and an extra-long necklace.

She is also noticeably sporting a slimmer physique, which can be attributed to the 45-year-old actress’ 75-pound weight drop earlier this year. In her fabulous photoshoot, McCarthy models pieces from her own fashion line called Seven7, which she sells on the Home Shopping Network (HSN).

In the interview, Melissa McCarthy tackles the age-old issue of body image in society. The plus-size actress, who has always exuded confidence despite the extreme pressure Hollywood puts on women to maintain a certain “skinny” body type, expressed her concern over the beauty standards that young people are exposed to.

“There’s an epidemic in our country of girls and women feeling bad about themselves based on what .5% of the human race looks like. It starts very young,” McCarthy says. My message is that as long as everybody’s healthy, enjoy and embrace whatever body type you have.”

The Bridesmaids star has two daughters of her own: Eight-year-old Vivian and six-year-old Georgette, whom she wishes will grow up to be comfortable in their own skin. Like any protective mom, Melissa McCarthy would rather get a black eye from someone than see her daughters hurt by people criticizing the way they look.

“Give me your best punch in the face, and I’ll take that punch, rather than have my kid feel bad about herself,” she told Redbook.

Aside from body image issues, Melissa McCarthy also weighed in on the idea of feminism in today’s society. She had some choice words for women who resent the term “feminist” and try to detach themselves from the concept.

“I always think, ‘Oh that sounds so dumb.’ And I don’t mean that in a hateful way,” she said. “It just sounds so ill-informed. Do you think women should be paid less? You don’t believe in equality for women? I think people have worked hard to put a negative spin on the word.”

  • Tia Mowry May Look Pregnant, But She’s Really ‘Just Fat’

Setting the record straight on HuffPost Live, Tia Mowry dismissed rumors that she is expecting a second baby with husband Cory Hardrict, saying she is just happy and not pregnant.

“I am not pregnant… I am just happy.” Mowry said, explaining that she gained 10 to 15 pounds because of her new cooking show. The mother of one said she often reads comments aimed at her weight including a recent one that advised her to lose some pounds.

The Tia Mowry at Home host said that she felt the comments she received on social media are a form of body-shaming. “I’m happy with who I am,” she said adding she is enjoying her life and that she need not be reminded to lose weight. “But it is a form of body-shaming, I will say that, and it’s pretty unfortunate.” Tia Mowry has been plagued with pregnancy rumors for months.

In July, the actress shared an Instagram photo of a pregnancy test with the words “just fat” on it. “FYI. For all the people that think I’m pregnant. I’m NOT. Just enjoying life and eating and cooking some great food! Thanks. Again I repeat I AM NOT PREGNANT!” she wrote on the caption.

Mowry believes our society’s obsession with being perfect has influenced the way people perceive beauty, and she thinks it has to stop.

She called on her critics and urged everyone to stop picking on other people’s weight, and instead embrace all body shapes and drop the conventional standards of beauty presented by the media.

“We need to be more supportive with body images, especially women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,” Tia Mowry explained. “I’m talking about in magazines, advertisements, in regards to what’s sexy and not sexy. We all need to be a little more supportive of each other.”

Tyra Banks was so impressed with Gigi Hadid’s words that she reposted them on her own Instagram account.

Kris Jenner shared her praise in a Tweet.

Gigi Hadid is the daughter of former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster. Sister Bella Hadid is a model, too.

Yolanda Foster shared a gorgeous photo of Gigi on her Instagram account, along with some very special words.

“❤️This represents your foundation, the core of who you are my love. Not perfect yet authentic, honest, kind, full of love, grace and wisdom beyond your years…….Only insecure, jealous cowards use social media to criticize and body shame young successful woman like you so please Keep shining, Keep smiling and keep being the best you can be working on your craft one day at a time. • Claire Danes Talks Hollywood Body Shaming

Claire Danes Talks Hollywood Body Shaming

Claire Danes doesn’t like the way women’s bodies are shamed in Hollywood circles if they don’t meet certain standards of thinness. She’s decided it’s high time someone spoke up for those who have been or likely will be shamed. The Homeland star shared her thoughts on the topic during a recent interview with People magazine.

“I feel like my body is monitored and commented on infinitely more than my male counterpart,” she said.

“I remember a couple of Emmys ago, Lena Dunham and I were on the carpet together. We were singled out and criticized for having different body types–I was too skinny and she was too big,” Claire Danes adds. “She is a dear friend of mine, and it made me angry because this is just how we are.”

Danes doesn’t like that so many have adapted to these ridiculous Hollywood standards.

“We just take it for granted that it’s acceptable and we really internalize that as normal and fine, and it’s not,” she said.

She admits she felt pressure to maintain her svelte physique–even while pregnant.

“I was very anxious about my pregnancy because I was responsible for this huge show, and I didn’t want to let anyone down at work, but I had this other major project of growing a person,” she said. “I was mindful of what I was eating because I didn’t want to look pregnant.”

Hopefully Claire Danes will make her beliefs about body shaming in Hollywood her new crusade. People shouldn’t be shamed because they don’t wear a size four and subsist on lettuce leaves and cleansing beverages. Not everyone has the makeup to be what Hollywood perceives as perfectly built.

Claire Danes could make a name for herself that’s almost as big as the one she has made via her films and shows like Homeland if she continues expression her feelings about Hollywood body shaming. That would earn her even more respect than any Emmy Award or nomination will.

  • Selena Gomez Doesn’t Think She’s Hot, Rates Herself A Mere 6 Out Of 10

It wasn’t too long ago when Selena Gomez was in a midst of a body shaming controversy over her bikini pictures. Most were impressed with how mature and positive the 22-year-old handled the issue, exuding confidence in her looks and body.

So it came as a surprise to a lot of people when the former Disney star rated herself a mere 6 out of 10 on the attractiveness scale.

The singer was a guest on the “TJ Show” recently and she talked freely about her plans for her career, her birthday and her best friends. The host of the radio show also asked the singer to rate her attractiveness on a scale of one to ten.

“I would say, like, [on] a premiere day, I would be a good nine,” the “Wizards of Waverly Place” star reflected. “And then on my every day I feel like a 6. Gosh, that sounds so bad. I feel like a 6 or a 7.”

The question, and Gomez’ answer, immediately raised eyebrows. Firstly, because the question was inane, dated and just reinforced the idea that a young woman’s beauty could – and should – be graded. And secondly, the fact that Gomez didn’t think twice about answering the question was disturbing as it just underlined the Hollywood norm that looks trumps over whatever success a woman has accomplished.

But prior to that buzz killing question, the Princess Protection Program alum was actually talking about stuff that matter – her feelings regarding one fan base being pitted against the other, her admiration for Amy Schumer, her best friends.

During the interview, Gomez admitted that she’s such a huge fan of Amy Schumer that she’s been trying to “finagle” her way into Inside Amy Schumer.

“I think she’s amazing,” she gushed about the comedienne.

Another star that Gomez thinks is amazing is Katy Perry. Despite being in Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video – which is said to be a dig against the “Roar” singer – Gomez sees nothing wrong in her admiration of Perry.

  • Jennifer Lawrence: I’m Lucky, Many Actresses Body Shamed or Fired

Jennifer Lawrence has finally passed into that rarefied area in Hollywood that very few women get to live in. At Comic-Con on Thursday, the Mockingjay actress talked about the struggle some actresses have with being expected to be skinny in order to get roles.

Lawrence told Harper’s Bazaar in 2013 that she was once threatened with firing if she did not lose weight.

“Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight,” Jennifer Lawrence said. “They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that.”

One reviewer said of her figure, “A few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit.”

With all the talk of a shift in Hollywood numbers toward roles for women, Jennifer Lawrence addressed the topic again.

“I would hope that there are more opportunities for women, but sometimes it’s hard,” Lawrence said. “I was just having a conversation with somebody about the struggles of weight in the industry, because they know that it’s something I talk nonstop about. Once you get to a certain place [in your career], people will hire you and they want you to be in their movie, so they don’t care. It’s more about the struggle for the actors and actresses who haven’t made it to a certain place.”

Lawrence explained that she has less trouble with the issue now, because she is sought after.

“I’m not really in a place where I can complain or speak to not getting enough roles, because I’m very lucky to have a lot of opportunities. But I would be interested to hear someone who is not in two franchises answer that question.”

  • Selena Gomez: Abigail Breslin Defends Her Against Body-Shamers

Selena Gomez was called out recently by some body-shamers after photos of her in a bikini went viral. Justin Bieber’s ex was quick to defend herself, posting yet another photo of herself in her sexy pink bikini.

“I love being happy with me y’all #theresmoretolove,” she captioned the photo.

A few days later, fellow actor Abigail Breslin came to Selena Gomez’s defense–writing about it in her blog.

“All this stuff about Selena Gomez online in her bathing suit is RIDICULOUS,” she wrote.

“Everyone is always saying how we shouldn’t judge each other, so why are you commenting on a gorgeous, talented and smart young girl’s body when she’s on the beach having fun with her friend AND SHE LOOKS AMAZING. Aren’t there more important things the world can be reporting on??” Breslin added.

Abigail Breslin went on to write that incidents of body-shaming, such as this one targeting Selena Gomez, are at least partly responsible for the prevalence of eating disorders in young women.

A photo posted by Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) on

“I think if we all took the time we spend making each other feel bad about ourselves and used it to make each other feel good, the world would be a better place,” she wrote. “Oh and also if we taught girls they had more newsworthy qualities than how they fit into a bikini, we’d have a lot more happy girls.”

Breslin ended her blog post with a very direct message for Selena Gomez.

“You look amazing and more importantly look like you’re having fun. Keep rocking those bikinis.”

Selena Gomez looks amazingly fit and healthy in her bikini picture she posted on Instagram. Too often models, actresses, and young women in general adhere to standards that are ridiculously thin and simply not healthy.

Kudos to Abigail Breslin for her support of Selena Gomez and for speaking out against body-shamers.

  • Kim Zolciak Biermann Fires Back at Body Shaming Comments on Instagram, Saying She Loves Her ‘Chunky Legs’

Kim Zolciak Biermann is joining a slew of stars who are firing back at body shaming.

After posting a photo on Instagram, some of Kim Zolciak Biermann’s followers had some nasty things to say about her body, which did little more that tick the 36-year-old former Real Housewives of Atlanta star off.

In the original photo, Zolciak Biermann is seen posing in a tight-fitting, black dress and Giuseppe Zanetti gladiator sandals, with a caption explaining that she was “getting ready for Spring Break!” with celebrity stylist and pal Shun Melson.

After some rude comments, the reality star posted a second photo wearing the same dress with a little more leg showing.

“Yes I have thick or as some of my followers call them ‘chunky’ legs (Rude A– People) always have and I love them that way,” said Kim Zolciak Biermann, who just announced her new Bravo reality series, NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches, with RHOA’s Nene Leakes.

“I love every inch of me and it’s evident some of you don’t. It’s truly disheartening to see some of your comments because my kids see this stuff and I’m appalled,” she continued. “I guess it’s time I stop posting personal pics of myself as well as my kids since some of you last night and today commented rudely about them. #GodDontLikeUgly”

This is the second time Zolciak Biermann has had to deal with body slamming within the span of a week.

Earlier in the week, Kim posted a close-up of her profile, which garnered comments that she must have had a nose job because her profile resembled those of daughters Brielle and Kaya.

“I guess we ALL had nose jobs,” commented Kim Zolciak Biermann.

  • Kim Zolciak Loves Her Legs, Slams Body Shamers

Kim Zolciak likely understands what Kelly Clarkson has been going through recently. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been dissed for what some perceive as her ‘chunky’ legs. Clarkson, of course, was shamed recently for the weight she gained while pregnant, and has yet to shed. Most recently shamed by Fox anchor Chris Wallace, Kelly Clarkson was also shamed by British TV personality Katie Hopkins.

Like Kelly Clarkson, however, Kim Zolciak doesn’t seem to care what the haters say. She shared a photo of her ‘chunky’ legs on Instagram, saying she ‘loves’ them.

    Good for her.

Kim Zolciak posted this first photo just for fun.

After reading rude comments about her legs, Kim Zolciak posted yet another photo.

“Yes I have thick or as some of my followers call them “chunky” legs (Rude Ass People) always have and I love them that way! I love every inch of me and it’s evident some of you don’t. It’s truly disheartening to see some of your comments because My kids see this stuff and I’m appalled. I guess it’s time I stop posting personal pics of myself as well as my kids since some of you last night and today commented rudely about,” she captioned the second post.

It’s sad that people feel it’s okay to body shame others. It’s a strong indication of a major lack of class and kindness.

Kim Zolciak is headed back to Bravo soon, where she’ll star in a new reality show with NeNe Leakes. Called NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches, the two will embark on an epic road trip.

You can be sure if anyone tries body shaming Kim Zolciak while she’s on the road with NeNe Leakes, they’ll have definite hell to pay.

Don’t you love it when people like Kim Zolciak give it right back to their body shamers? It’s still too bad she–and others like Kelly Clarkson–have to experience the kind of hurt that must accompany such unkind words.
