Bloodline Season 2 Gets the Green Light, Due in 2016

It didn’t take long for Netflix to give the green light to Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler. Their new Netflix original series Bloodline has been granted a second season.

Production will kick off later this year and Netflix is eyeing a 2016 release for season two. As Deadline points out, this renewal means that Netflix has yet to cancel one of its original dramas after just one season. We could take this as a sign that plenty of users streamed Bloodline over the past week and a half – but you’ll never hear Netflix say it.

Bloodline stars Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek, Jacinda Barrett, and Chloe Sevingy. It’s a “psychological thriller” that “explores the wounds and emotional demons that lie at the core of a contemporary American family.” It’s a satisfying slow burn with an interesting narrative structure, and you should check it out this weekend. You know, a little binge between the Final Four.
