  • Giuliana Rancic: No More Babies, Last Embryo Lost

Giuliana Rancic and hubby Bill were very open about their struggles with fertility, and they were ecstatic when son Duke was born via surrogate back in 2012. Ever since then they’ve hoped to give Duke a baby brother or sister, but now those hopes have been dashed. The couple has lost their last embryo.

In an interview with People magazine, the E! News host explains that their surrogate was impregnated with the couple’s three remaining embryos, but miscarried the last of them on New Year’s Eve of this year.

“It was painful,” Giuliana Rancic said. “We were so optimistic with this last embryo. We thought, ‘This is definitely going to work. This is our last shot.’”

A breast cancer survivor, pregnancy would be a risk for Rancic. She plans to dust herself off, however, and make plans to grow their family in a much different way.

“We’re open to everything,” she says. “I think adoption is a beautiful gift you’re giving each other. And it’s funny, I’m even more open to [adoption] than I was before. Because I think to myself, ‘I love Duke so much, if I couldn’t take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him.’”

Giuliana Rancic has a new memoir about to hit bookshelves. She is presently doing publicity for Going Off Script–due out on April 7th.

Giuliana Rancic most recently made news for the inconsiderate remark she made at the Oscars about Zendaya’s dreadlocks. She also caused quite a stir at Fashion Police in its wake.

It’s hard to imagine the grief Giuliana Rancic and her husband must have faced when they learned their surrogate miscarried back on New Year’s Eve. Fortunately they’ve been blessed with a son, and will likely bless another child by bringing him or her into their family.

  • Giuliana Rancic Stuns in Purple Gown at SAG Awards

Giuliana Rancic wowed onlookers as she worked the red carpet at the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Her purple satin gown, accessorized simply with a black belt and understated earrings, drew a lot of favorable attention.

As co-host of E! Network’s flagship entertainment industry news show, Rancic is currently one of the best known celebrity hosts. Rancic also co-hosts E!’s Fashion Police, along with Joan Rivers, Kelly Osbourne, and George Kotsiopoulos.

The Fashion Police quartet gets together after big Hollywood events to critique celebrity fashions. As a presumed expert on the subject, it’s no surprise that Rancic consistently impresses at awards ceremonies and similar events.

According to Rancic, her gown was made by Lebanese designer Basil Soda. The color of the gown drew references to color authority Pantone’s Color of the Year “Radiant Orchid.”

Just last week, Rancic was on another red carpet, this one at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

Rancic and her husband Bill star in their own reality show Giuliana and Bill in which they’ve chronicled Rancic’s fight against breast cancer and their struggles with infertility. The series premiered in August 2009 and wrapped its sixth season this year. It moved from Style Network to E! in October following NBC Universal’s decision to launch its new cable network Esquire on Style.

  • Giuliana Rancic Ready For Baby Number 2

Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill have gone through a lot in recent years; Giuliana suffered through a battle with breast cancer in 2011 and the couple tried to conceive a child on their own for several months, but to no avail. When they finally had baby Duke via surrogate last summer, they were ecstatic and immediately said they wanted to add to their family if at all possible; now, it looks like they’re ready again.

Using the same gestational mother they used with Duke, the Rancics are getting things in place for baby number 2.

“We’ve got our [gestational] carrier, who carried Duke — she’s on board! Having a brother or sister in the house is definitely in the future for Duke,” they told Life & Style Magazine.

Bill has said that while they would have loved to be able to conceive on their own, in the end it didn’t matter; they were in love the moment they met him.

“It doesn’t matter how you get your little baby. When you’re holding the baby in your arms and you see their smile, it doesn’t matter,” he said.

Bill credits Duke with saving Giuliana’s life, because she underwent a mammogram when they were going through rounds of IVF treatment in order to conceive, which is how they discovered she had breast cancer.

“Technically this baby saved her life because had she not gone through IVF — the doctor made it mandatory that she get a mammogram — they would have never found what they found so we owe this little guy debt of gratitude and I’m sure he’ll never let you forget it!” he said.

The couple have said that they would love to try to conceive naturally in the future, but Giuliana has to wait until she’s done with her cancer treatment, which will take a few years.

Giuliana Rancic Wants A Big Family

Giuliana Rancic and husband Bill have been through the gamut of emotions in the past year; between Giuliana’s breast cancer diagnosis and the couple welcoming their first son through a gestational carrier in August, Rancic says it’s been several months full of the best and worst things in her life.

“In one year, so much has happened,” Rancic said. “This was the best year of my life because of the baby and it was the worst year of my life because of the breast cancer. But it just goes to show that if you’re strong and you’re positive, great things can come out of the darkest time in your life.”

Rancic credits a mandatory mammogram–which came about because of the fertility treatments she was receiving when she and Bill were trying to have a baby on their own–with early detection of the cancer. In fact, Bill says that in a way, their son saved her life.

As far as the baby in question–Edward Duke–Giuliana says she and Bill are totally enamored of him and spend as much time with him as they possibly can.

“At like seven in the morning, we bring him into our bed, and we’ll just be with him for three hours at a time,” she said. “It’s just great, because he kind of dozes off. We look at each other, and he’s just precious. It’s a nice bonding time.”

When asked if the couple has been thinking about future additions to their family, she said, “You know, not yet. One at a time. But I’ve always wanted a big family.”

  • Giuliana Rancic: Baby Saved Her Life

Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill welcomed their baby boy last night in Colorado, tweeting about his arrival and how completely in love they are. And while all new parents feel that initial rush of affection for an infant, this couple credits their child with saving Giuliana’s life.

The Rancics have been trying to get pregnant for several years now, and some of their struggle was documented on the E! reality show “Giuliana And Bill”. However, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer last August, the couple thought their dreams were shattered forever.

But Giuliana had been going through rounds of IVF–In Vitro Fertilization–in order to get pregnant, and the doctor claimed it was mandatory for her to have a mammogram during the treatment. If she hadn’t undergone the invasive program in order to conceive little Edward Duke, she might not have discovered her illness until it was much too late, if at all.

“Technically this baby saved her life because had she not gone through IVF — the doctor made it mandatory that she get a mammogram — they would have never found what they found so we owe this little guy debt of gratitude and I’m sure he’ll never let you forget it!” Bill said.
