  • Bill O’Reilly Accused Of Exaggerated Reporting Of Falklands War, Says It’s A Smear Campaign

First it was Brian Williams. Now it seems FOX News’ Bill O’ Reilly is also in hot water over supposed embellishments and exaggerations on his reporting of the Falklands War during the early part of his career. Appearing on Fox News TV’s #MediaBuzz, O’ Reilly claims that the recent attacks on his Falklands coverage is nothing more than a smear campaign by liberals who are attempting to ride the Brian Williams scandal bandwagon.

When asked if he would call the Falklands as anything else other than a “war zone”, O’ Reilly answered no. “When you have soldiers and military police firing into the crowed and you have people who are injured and hurt and you are in the middle of that, that (a war zone) is the definition.”

Retired CBS News correspondent, Eric Engberg, was with O’ Reilly during the Falklands War. He posted a message on his Facebook page disputing O’ Reilly’s accounts of what happened. “We — meaning the American networks — were all in the same, modern hotel and we never saw any troops, casualties or weapons,” Engberg wrote. “It was not a war zone or even close. It was an ‘expense account zone’.”

Engberg’s remarks followed an article published by Mother Jones that was about O’ Reilly’s coverage of the Falklands War. According to the article, O’ Reilly has “bemoaned the supposed culture of deception within the liberal media, and he proclaimed that the Williams controversy should prompt questioning of other ‘distortions’ by left-leaning outlets. Yet for years, O’Reilly has recounted dramatic stories about his own war reporting that don’t withstand scrutiny.”

Other members of the CBS staff stationed at the Falklands have also stepped forward to refute O’ Reilly’s war zone story. Mainly, they spoke out against O’ Reilly’s recollection that he helped an injured cameraman to safety. According to the staff, they were far from the actual war zone and that they don’t recall anyone being injured during the coverage.

  • Bill O’Reilly Continues Hard Defense Of “War Zone” Claims

Bill O’Reilly continues to hold his position and not back down against various media outlets that claim to have outed him as a Brian Williams-style liar.

Bill O’Reilly was accused by Mother Jones of fabricating his many “war zone” stories from his time as a reporter during the Falklands war of 1982.

On Friday night’s episode of his popular talk show, Bill O’Reilly spent about 10 minutes knocking Mother Jones and defending his statements. He said things like, “Mother Jones, which has low circulation, [is] considered by many the bottom rung of journalism in America.”

The day before, O’Reilly called Mother Jones’ story a “giant piece of defamation,” “a lie,” and a smear. He went on to call one of the writers, David Corn, a “disgusting piece of garbage,” a “guttersnipe liar,” and a “far-left assassin.”

Despite reports to the contrary, Bill O’Reilly claims in his bestselling book, The No Spin Zone: Confrontations With the Powerful and Famous in America, “You know that I am not easily shocked. I’ve reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands.”

Also, according to journalist Tucker Carlson’s 2003 book, Bill O’Reilly dodged a question at Washington panel discussion about media coverage of the Afghanistan war with a vague reference to the Falklands war. Carlson recalled, “Rather than simply answer the question, O’Reilly began by trying to establish his own bona fides as a war correspondent. ‘I’ve covered wars, okay? I’ve been there. The Falklands, Northern Ireland, the Middle East. I’ve almost been killed three times, okay.’”

And the list of Bill O’Reilly’s statements on his war experience from the Falklands war goes on and on.

However, the problem is, there are sure a lot of people saying that Bill O’Reilly was never there.

“There’s an undeniable contradiction” in what O’Reilly has said about his Falklands coverage, Corn said to CNN.

In fact, CBS News’s chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer explained that the only “war zone” was in and around the Falkand islands, and “nobody from CBS got to the Falklands.”

Schieffer added that he “came close” to reaching the Falklands, but the task proved “impossible.” He said he, Bill O’Reilly, and other reporters were based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Shortly after the Mother Jones piece ran, Bill O’Reilly stated, “I was not on the Falkland Islands and I never said I was. I was in Buenos Aires.”

He explained, “If you were assigned to a war, you put on your resume you covered the Falklands, the Middle East, El Salvador, wherever it is where you were sent.”

He added, “This is what journalists do.”

What do you think about this mess with Bill O’Reilly and Mother Jones?

  • Stacey Dash: ‘Clueless’ Star Says Bill O’Reilly is Her Celebrity Crush

Stacey Dash has scored a spot on Fox News as a paid contributor, and the actress has more than one reason to be excited to join the news team — her crush on network co-worker Bill O’Reilly.

The former Clueless star made an appearance on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live and admitted her crush on the O’Reilly Factor host to Billy Bush, Kit Hoover and guest co-host Brooke Burns.

“I’m just a huge fan. He is [my celebrity crush],” she gushed. “[I’m attracted to] the strength, the power, the intelligence, the wit.”

Dash‘s new gig with Fox News came about after she experienced a backlash on social media for backing Mitt Romney for President over Barack Obama.

“[The backlash was] because I didn’t back the black guy, and I’m black,” she said.

“Were the Tweets mostly from black people do you think?” Bush asked.

“Yes – I don’t ‘think,’ I know. It’s absurd,” she replied. “I don’t respond. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but I’m still going to stand for what I believe in.”

The actress said her Twitter account blew up with hate-filled responses after coming out in support of Romney, but it didn’t daunt her in the least.

“People told me to kill myself, stuff like that. But I’m from the South Bronx – I don’t scare easily,” she said.

It’s amazing what one tweet can do.

“I tweeted my opinion and when I woke up the next morning, my life had changed,” the 47-year-old conservative told Elle magazine. “And since then, anything I say has been newsworthy. I say something and then it’s newsworthy.”

  • Bill O’Reilly: Beyonce Is a Threat to Young Girls

As Grammy Award-winning recording artist Beyonce performs in and tours Dublin with her family, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly is telling us how he really feels about the 32-year old singer.

On Monday nights show, O’Reilly spoke to hip hop icon Russell Simmons about the “harmful entertainment marketed to largely unsupervised children.” O’Reilly was especially outspoken about Beyonce, pointing to her steamy “Partition” video which shows her having sex with her husband in the back of a limousine.

“Teenage girls look up to Beyoncé … why on earth would this woman do that? When she knows [about] the devastation [of] unwanted pregnancies and fractured families,” O’Reilly said. “I believe an entertainer like Beyoncé [has] an obligation to protect children.”

Pointing out that, as a mother and promoter of gender equality, Beyonce has an “obligation to protect children” and he strongly believes that she is far from doing so with her recent video, which he calls “inexplicable” and “exploitive garbage.”

58-year old Simmons, who is said to be the third richest figure in hip hop, defended Beyonce saying that she is simply reflecting our society’s reality by expressing “something that’s sexual in music.”

“There’s research that says that a man thinks about sex every 12 seconds …If we want that reality changed, then we have to do things that affect the core,” Simmons explained.

“Bill, if you think that art that comes out of a community is the cause of the struggle–”

    “That’s art?” O’Reilly interrupted.

    “Yes, absolutely,” Simmons said.

“Beyonce in the back of a limo having sex and referencing Monica Lewinsky is art?”

“She’s a brilliant artist,” Simmons said. “And she’s not only appreciated by people of color, as you know, she’s really one of the top artists in the world to people of every color.”

But O’Reilly stuck to his guns, pointing out that “teenage girls look up to Beyoncé, particularly girls of color. She’s an idol to them.”

Though Simmons was on the show to promote his new book on meditation, O’Reilly spoke mostly of curing the “fundamental disease” of influencing our youth in a negative way.

“You’re going to have to get people like Jay-Z, Kanye West – all these gangsta rappers – to knock it off,” he told Simmons at the conclusion of the show.

  • Bill O’Reilly Says We’re All Ignorant Because The Internet

Apparently, Americans are pretty stupid when it comes to knowing anything about their own country. And Fox News host Bill O’Reilly thinks he knows part of the reason why.

    Spoiler: it’s the Internet.

Yes, the Internet. The Internet has made you dumb. According to O’Reilly, the Internet has “created a generation of self-absorbed, addicted, distracted, and ignorant people.”

“The powerful machines–handheld, many of them–are diverting a lot of Americans away from real life. You can now create your own world on the net devoid of reality, and millions of Americans are doing that,” said the commentator on his Talking Points Memo portion of the show this week.

So, why was papa bear so perturbed? Apparently, O’Reilly had gotten hold of a 2011 Newsweek poll that found 29% of Americans couldn’t name the Vice President, 40% didn’t know who we fought in WWII, 73% didn’t know that Communism was a main concern of the Cold War, and other (admittedly quite troubling) statistics about Americans’ civic knowledge.

O’Reilly doesn’t focus all of his frustration on the Internet, however. Public education and disinterested, uninformed voters are also to blame for American ignorance.

But it’s you, denizens of the Internet. You, with your vast trove of information at your fingertips. Iz feelz dum.

I’ll refrain from commenting on Bill O’Reilly, an employee of Fox News, talking about the creation of worlds devoid of any and all reality.

  • Sarah Silverman vs. Huckabee and O’Reilly

Just in case you were wondering, Sarah Silverman doesn’t like it when people tell her what to do with her vagina.

The controversial comedienne had strong words about Mike Huckabee’s comments regarding women’s health when she stopped by MSNBC yesterday.

“I guess I’m stunned, but at the same time, it’s so bizarre,” she said in the interview. “He says he wants women to control their libido, you know, I too would like to control my libido and my reproductive system.”

Silverman isn’t shy when it comes to speaking about politics. In fact, the funny woman often brings up issues regarding women at her comedy shows. She says she wants the audience to be aware of what is going on in the world, particularly when she feels the remarks are hypocritical.

“These are people who are anti-big government, and yet they want to make laws about my vagina, and what I do with my body,” she said. “I don’t think that would be tolerated if we started legislating men’s bodies.”

See what has Silverman so peeved, here:

Silverman also doesn’t play coy when she’s trying to get her point across. Take, for example, a video she recently starred in that features she and Jesus discussing abortion. As you might imagine, this viral YouTube skit ruffled a few feathers, including those of Bill O’Reilly.

In the video, “Jesus” states that “fertilized eggs are not people. People are people.” He even drops the F-bomb by saying “I’m Jesus F****** Christ.”

    Check it out here:

The Fox News personality called Silverman’s video “very offensive” and stated he wanted to throw a pie at her. O’Reilly’s guest for the night, Laura Ingraham, also had an opinion about Silverman, calling her a “degenerate, foul-mouthed slob of a person.”

Twitter was filled with different takes on Silverman’s video. Here is a sampling:

  • Megyn Kelly Says That Santa Claus is White

Megyn Kelly was recently criticized for speaking about the cultural interpretation concerning the race of Santa Claus. Kelly discussed Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore, which was written by Slate‘s Aisha Harris.

Harris wrote, “When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my preschool and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what Santa really looked like. Was he brown, like us? Or was he really a white guy?”

In the age of political correctness, Kelly’s opinion has not been swayed. The following statement was made by Megyn Kelly on her popular Fox television show The Kelly File, and has been subjected to recent criticism.

“Just because it [an idea] makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change. You know, I mean, Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure; that’s a verifiable fact as is Santa, I want you kids watching to know that, but my point is: how do you revise it, in the middle of the legacy of the story, and change Santa from white to black?”

Does it really matter how Santa Claus is depicted, or should everyone be free to consider different interpretations of the icon? Kelly is not known for being easily influenced by pressure from others. In a previous interview with The Washington Post, the Fox anchor spoke directly about her method for handling criticism. “The more I respond to the naysayers, the less I have of myself. I don’t have to convince anybody. And nine times out of 10 the people who are haters are not convinceable anyway. In my experience, the people who believe all the negative things about you want to believe them. And the people who don’t believe, despite the negative things that are written, are fans of yours, people who watch and get you, and they’re not going to believe that stuff no matter what,” Kelly said.

Recent criticism comes after her popular appearance on Jay Leno.

  • Bill O’Reilly Plugs Latest “Killing…” Series Books

Political commentator and author Bill O’Reilly gave an early plug for his latest nonfiction history book during an interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes this weekend. He also detailed the third, and latest, book in his nonfiction series, Killing Jesus, just out in September.

The muse to writing on Jesus came to the life-long Catholic at night and he points to divine inspiration for the idea, “My inspiration comes from that [the holy spirit] and so I wrote Killing Jesus because I think I was directed to write that.” But, O’Reilly says, “It’s not a religious book… it’s all about history,” though the work is bound to spark commentary. The contract for the book amounts to over $10 million, to be shared with his co-author, Martin Dugard, who does the bulk of the research for the publications.

The fourth book of the Killing… series, is anticipated for release September of 2014, and will focus on World War II. The series started with Killing Lincoln—which was turned into a 2013 docudrama for National Geographic Channel, featuring Tom Hanks as narrator and Billy Campbell as Abraham Lincoln—and book two was Killing Kennedy. National Geographic adaptations are already set for Jesus and Kennedy—premiering this November. The channel hit viewership records during last February’s airing of Lincoln.

O’Reilly (pictured here on vacation in Ireland, 2013) said the new book includes, “brand-new information about some very, very fascinating things,” but he would not reveal if the title will mimic the rest of the series.

According to the interview, O’Reilly’s show, The O’Reilly Factor, has reigned for 13 years as the most watched program on cable news. Known for a history of combative interviewing, CBS interviewer Norah O’Donnell claims he is “mellower” than during his earlier appearance on the news magazine, when interviewed in 2004 by Mike Wallace.

Other publications penned by O’Reilly include children’s versions of the history series and titles such as Keep It Pithy: Useful Observations in a Tough World (2013) and No Spin Zone: Confrontations with the Powerful & Famous in America (2002).

  • Jon Stewart, Bill O’Reilly Talk Fox News, IRS, and More

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly made an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Wednesday night to promote his new book, and the two provided the usual amicable but combative sparring we expect from any O’Reilly-Stewart meeting.

The two wound up talking Fox News, the DOJ’s crackdown on journalists, the IRS scandal, and more. Check out both parts of the extended interview below:

  • Bill O’Reilly, Laura Ingraham Argue Over “Thump the Bible” Comment

Last week, conservative Fox News star Bill O’Reilly seemed to defend the supporters of gay marriage, saying that they have a “compelling argument.” At the same time, the pundit criticized opponents of gay marriage, stating that they haven’t been able “to do anything but thump the Bible.”

Now, O’Reilly is having to defend his comments against a backlash of Christians who feel the host was criticizing their religion. O’Reilly brought conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham onto The O’Reilly Factor to provide a warm body to whom he could further explain his comments.

“If you’re going to stand up for heterosexual marriage and exclude gay marriage, if you’re going to do that, you’ve got to do it outside the Bible,” said O’Reilly. “You can’t cite the Bible, ’cause you’ll lose if you do it.”

Ingraham told O’Reilly that she thinks his comments are “disrespectful” to Christians. O’Reilly went on to try and explain that he makes a distinction between Americans’ privately held beliefs and how public policy should be made, insisting that he meant no offense to Christians. He also went on to double-down on his “thump the Bible” comment.

“There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ‘I object to gay marriage ’cause God objects to it,” said O’Reilly. “You don’t win a policy debate in America with that.”

  • Bill O’Reilly: Gay Marriage Supporters Have a “Compelling Argument”

For the second day in a row, the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a case involving gay marriage.

While the issue has predictably come to the fore on social media, it has also become a big topic of conversation on cable news.

Last night, Fox News star Bill O’Reilly shocked many of his viewers by admitting he finds the case for gay marriage “more compelling” than the opposition’s case. In a conversation about the court cases with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on The O’Reilly Factor, he stated that U.S. policy shouldn’t be based on the Christian Bible.

Though O’Reilly prefaces his statement with “I hate to say this,” he goes on to say:

“The compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals. That’s where the compelling argument is. ‘We’re Americans, we just want to be treated like everybody else.’ That’s a compelling argument, and to deny that, you gotta have a very strong argument on the other side, and the other side hasn’t been able to do anything but thump the Bible.”

O’Reilly made it clear that he has always supported civil unions, but that he doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other about gay marriage, seeing it as an issue for states to decide. “I want all Americans to be happy,” said O’Reilly.

O’Reilly also used the conversation to attack politicians for changing their views on the issue of gay marriage now that public opinion in the U.S. has shifted. He calls former President Bill Clinton a “phony” and called politicians who shift their views to match popular opinion “sleazy.”

O’Reilly may have a point that politicians who took a principled stand for gay rights before that stance became popular might be remembered more fondly by history. However, another way to look at it could be that the politicians changing their minds are simply representing the majority opinion of their constituents in a representative democracy. Considering his experience, O’Reilly seems inordinately surprised that politicians are playing politics.

  • Bill O’Reilly Divorce May Involve the Catholic Church

Bill O’Reilly is best known as Fox News’ headlining prime time pundit and isn’t a stranger to controversy (loofah, anyone?). Though individuals may disagree with his politics or views about the world, it’s clear that O’Reilly is a passionate man. Over the years he has demonstrated his passion about his politics, his religion, his ignorance of physics, and doing it live.

It serves to reason that O’Reilly is equally passionate about marriage, and, now, is very passionately involved in a post-divorce custody battle.

Gawker this week reported that O’Reilly and Maureen McPhilmy divorced in 2011, but that the pundit couldn’t let go. He allegedly tried to get the Nassau County Police Department to begin an internal affairs investigation into his ex-wife’s new boyfriend, who was a Nassau County detective. There are also allegations that O’Reilly hired the couple’s court-appointed “neutral therapist” to be nanny for the couple’s two children, who are part of a shared custody arrangement.

Beyond these alleged infractions, the report also states that the couple’s battle has been taken up by the Catholic Church. McPhilmy is reported to have received a formal reprimand from the church, stating her divorce and second marriage preclude her from receiving the sacrement of communion. O’Reilly is reported by Gawker to be seeking an annulment of the couple’s marriage, which would invalidate the marriage in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

  • Bill O’Reilly Attempts to Explain Gangnam Style’s Popularity

If you have been waiting patiently for Bill O’Reilly and his frequent guest Dr. Keith Ablow to focus their mind lasers on viral megahit “Gangnam Style,” today is your lucky day.

Working off the news that the PSY song recently surpassed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” to become the most-viewed video in the history of YouTube, O’Reilly tries to figure out how the video could have possibly become so popular. Check out the video below for some Elvis comparisons, Bill’s commentary on “16 guys named PSY on Long Island,” and an interesting view of internet users as people seeking numbness. GO!

The meaning is that it has no meaning. Can’t explain that.

  • Jon Stewart & Bill O’Reilly to Hold Live-Streamed Debate

Two of cable TV’s biggest personalities are set to square off in a online debate of epic proportions. “Bill O’Reilly. Jon Stewart. 2 podiums. 1 Air-Conditioned Auditorium.” That’s the pitch for The Rumble 2012, set to stream on the interwebs on October 6th at 8 pm ET.

Already the participants in some memorable showdowns on each other’s primetime shows, Stewart and O’Reilly will “take an entertaining and comedic approach to today’s pressing political issues in an attempt to find the best direction for America,” according to the announcement. You can watch the debate live for the price of $4.95 (since every event on the internet is now $5). And it’s for a good cause, as half of the net profits will go to charities of Stewart and O’Reilly’s choosing.

You can pre-order your access to the show now, and that will give you access to the stream and a digital copy once it’s over.

“Oh yeah it’s on,” said Jon Stewart. “Two men enter and both leave…but probably not together. We are going to have an argument – it is going to be like the worst Thanksgiving anyone ever went to. I’m looking forward to it.”

“We’ll be debating the state of the union, and how the upcoming election is likely going to affect it. So, if you wanna watch this train wreck, sign up. It’ll be a night to remember, at least for Stewart and his eighteen writers,” said Bill O’Reilly.

The debate will take place at George Washington University, and if you want to be there live you can do so for the price of $75-100. Although the Fox News host and the The Daily Show host have always had their differences, the two always refer to each other as “my pal.” We’ll see how their relationship stands after The Rumble in the air conditioned auditorium.

  • Bill O’Reilly Mans Up, Apologizes for Being an Idiot

Bill O’Reilly might be many things, but at least he’s a man of his word. This time around, anyway. The controversial Republican boldly declared in March that he would “apologize for being an idiot” should the Supreme Court uphold Obama’s health care law. Following the ruling that Obamacare would, in fact, remain in place, O’Reilly was strangely quiet. Of course, he was “off” last week, which may explain why we didn’t hear much from ol’ Bill during that time.

On Monday, much to the surprise of his many detractors, O’Reilly stepped up to the plate and proclaimed himself to be an idiot. In a roundabout way, mind you. Of course, in order to protect his image, he then brought Bernie Goldberg onto his show to discuss what certain “far left smear sites” thought about his sort-of-apology. So much for being the bigger man.

“I’m not really sorry, but I am a man of my word, so I apologize for not factoring in the John Roberts situation,” O’Reilly said. “Truthfully, I never in a million years thought the chief justice would go beyond the scope of the Commerce Clause debate and into taxation. I may be an idiot for not considering that.”

What do Twitter users think about Bill O’Reilly’s sort-of apology? As always, you can sample their reactions to the news by taking a trip into the space below. It sort of goes without saying that O’Reilly apologists aren’t all that numerous on the micro-blogging site, so do take that into consideration before shaking your angry fist at the screen.

  • Bill O’Reilly Pens Multi-Year Deal With Fox News

As the sharp-tongued host of the insanely popular political commentary show The O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly has never been shy about voicing his opinions, and that’s exactly why Fox wants to keep him around.

The 63-year old had just signed a multi-year extension on his contract with Fox News Channel for an undisclosed amount, and the fact that the show boasts 4.5 million viewers and was the most-watched cable news program for over ten years probably has something to do with it.

“Bill’s immense talent, intellect and raw convictions are an extremely rare combination in television and exemplify why ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ has been the number one program in cable news for more than a decade,” Fox News Channel chairman Roger Ailes said.

Although O’Reilly has garnered quite a bit of negative attention in the media over the years for his views and the way he expresses them, he is clearly regarded as an invaluable member of the Fox team, and they don’t plan on letting him go anytime soon.

Fellow political reporter Jon Stewart has a long-standing rivalry with O’Reilly, although their arguments tend to end good-naturedly more often than not. Looks like Stewart will have plenty of time to get in a few more debates.

  • Fox Mole Fired, Says He’s Free To Tell More Secrets

Former Fox News employee Joe Muto was recently busted for releasing information about the network in columns he wrote anonymously for Gawker, prompting his dismissal from the company. But Muto says the firing only helps his case, because now he’s free to share all the information about the company he wants.

One of the columns bashed Fox website Fox Nation, in which Muto called it “an unholy mashup of the Drudge Report, the Huffington Post and a Klan meeting.” After someone at Fox discovered that Muto’s computer login accessed two of the videos posted on Gawker, he turned himself in and posted a statement about the incident on Gawker.

Muto says that the site has become the “seedy underbelly of the Fox News online empire” and that one incident in particular pushed him over the edge towards becoming a mole.

“The post that broke the camel’s back might be familiar to some of you, because it garnered a lot of attention and (well-deserved) ridicule when it hit last August,” he wrote on Gawker. “The item was aggregating several news sources that were reporting innocuously on President Obama’s 50th birthday party, which was attended by the usual mix of White House staffers, DC politicos and Dem-friendly celebs. The Fox Nation, naturally, chose to illustrate the story with a photo montage of Obama, Charles Barkley, Chris Rock, and Jay Z, and the headline “Obama’s Hip Hop BBQ Didn’t Create Jobs. The post neatly summed up everything that had been troubling me about my employer: Non sequitur, ad hominem attacks on the president; gleeful race baiting; a willful disregard for facts; and so on. It came close on the heels of the Common controversy, which exhibited a lot of the same ugly traits.”

Muto goes on to say that rather than quit his job, he wanted to stay on and gather as much information as he could to expose the company and its employees–particularly the higher-ups–for what they are.

“So why not just leave Fox News?” you might ask. Good question!,” he writes. “I’ve asked myself that same thing many times. And I am leaving. Sooner rather than later, I’m guessing. But I can’t just leave quietly, can I? Where’s the fun in that? So I’m John McClane-ing this shit. I’m inside the building, crawling through the air vents, gathering intel, and passing it along to Carl Winslow. (Note: Please don’t misunderstand, and take my Die Hard metaphor as a threat of violence. Like most left-wingers I abhor actual violence, but am still hopelessly enthralled by the Hollywood machine that glorifies it. Also, that was a 20th Century Fox movie. Synergy!)”

Fox News says they are exploring legal action against Muto. Meanwhile, rumors are circulating around the web that Muto will get a book deal from all of this.

  • Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg on Housework Inequity

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says that “the data” shows that two women in the same home share responsibilities equally while men and a women do not. Sandberg did not disclose where she got this statistic from but looked very confident that she knew it to be true.

Her controversial statement does not mean that women should stop marrying men altogether, but it does imply that women would be better off marrying a woman if equal division of domestic work is strongly correlated to their wellbeing and overall life satisfaction.

To be fair, Sandberg says some men are very supportive and put in equal time. They are “the right” type of suitors in her eyes.

But all women do not want the same things. Many individuals would prefer to stay at home and return to parlor life while their spouse’s go off to work. But in this golden economy most wives and mothers find themselves having to do it all and often spread themselves too thin.

Another factor to consider is that according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics women tend to work almost as many hours as men:

“Among full-time workers (those usually working 35 hours or more per week), men worked slightly longer than women—8.2 versus 7.8 hours. Among part-time workers, men averaged 5.2 hours on days they worked and women averaged 5.4 hours.”

Despite their equal efforts in the workplace, one study from the National Science Foundation found that men do less work in the home than women after a long day:

“This study shows with men and women working, men still lag women in housework” and “The situation gets worse for women when they have children” because they have less time for leisure and relaxation.

The study also found that husbands create an extra seven hours a week of housework for wives, while wives save husbands from about an hour of housework a week.

Bill O’Reilly thought this study was unfair and was very defensive about the issue.

Are men losing their place within American households? Do you think men deserve to be the king of the castle? Are women better off without men?
