  • Bill Cosby Accused Of Being A Serial Rapist, Remains Silent

Bill Cosby is now in the center of a media firestorm after allegations of him committing rape have resurfaced. Recently, Cosby’s attorneys released a blanket statement on their website saying that, “decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby doesn’t not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment.” On Monday, November 17, Cosby’s representatives released another statement clarifying that this does not pertain to the allegations of Andrea Constand. Constand’s civil lawsuit against Cosby was settled back in 2006.

The statement was released jointly with Constand’s lawyer and says, “The statement released by Mr. Cosby’s attorney over the weekend was not intended to refer in any way to Andrea Constand. As previously reported, differences between Mr. Cosby and Ms. Constand were resolved to the mutual satisfaction of Mr. Cosby and Ms. Constand years ago.”

In 2005 Constand filed a lawsuit against Cosby and she claimed that other women would be willing to testify. Those named in the filing were Tamara Green and Barbara Bowman, two women who also accused Cosby of raping them. The latest woman to come forward is a publicist named Joan Tarshis who claims that Cosby drugged and raped her when she was 19 years old.

Cosby has remained silent about the recent allegations. It’s been reported that these incidents go as far back as the 1960s. In a recent interview with NPR’s Scott Simon, Cosby only shook his head and kept quiet when asked about the scandal. Eric B. Denzenhall, a Washington-based crisis consultant, discussed Cosby’s strategy in dealing with the matter.

Denzenhall said, “In the current culture, no matter what you do to defend yourself in one of these high-profile media vortexes, it generates multiple waves of new and negative coverage. Cosby has got to be thinking, ‘is the better of my very bad options to remain silent?’”

Recent TV show appearances by Cosby have been canceled since the news broke out about the new allegations. Cosby canceled his appearance on the Queen Latifah Show, an interview with Alternative Press, and a guest spot in The Late Show with David Letterman. The comedian was supposed to do a promotional tour for his new Netflix comedy special. Netflix executives are still quiet about whether or not the release of the special will push through on its intended date.

A new NBC show is being developed that stars Bill Cosby as a patriarch of a multi-generational family. There is no news yet on how the scandal will affect the show’s development.

  • Bill Cosby Rape Accuser Goes National; Wonders Why No One Listened Before

“In 2004, when Andrea Constand filed a lawsuit against Bill Cosby for sexual assault, her lawyers asked me to testify. Cosby had drugged and raped me, too, I told them. The lawyers said I could testify anonymously as a Jane Doe, but I ardently rejected that idea. My name is not Jane Doe. My name is Barbara Bowman, and I wanted to tell my story in court. In the end, I didn’t have the opportunity to do that, because Cosby settled the suit for an undisclosed amount of money.”

With that forceful and startling opener, Barbara Bowman threw down the gauntlet in the Washington Post. This was not the first time she had said openly and without equivocation that she had been raped by comedian Bill Cosby. She had detailed her experience in The Daily Mail.

“I never took shut up money. My motivation to speak now is to expose Bill Cosby as the animal that he is. He went after me in that hotel room like an animal with such sexual prowess and force that he couldn’t control himself.”

In her Daily Mail interview, Bowman told how Cosby allegedly insisted that she think of him as a father, flew her first class to meet with him at different places, mentored her in acting exercises where he insisted that she “learn to be vulnerable.”

Barbara recounted times when she says Cosby touched her all over and guided her hands to touch his penis. She says he drugged and raped her one evening.

Barbara Bowman has been telling her story for ten years. Again and again she made her accusations in public, never hiding behind anonymity.

“In 2006, I was interviewed by Robert Huber for Philadelphia Magazine, and Alycia Lane for KYW-TV news in Philadelphia. A reporter wrote about my experience in the December 2006 issue of People Magazine. And last February, Katie Baker interviewed me for Newsweek. Bloggers and columnists wrote about that story for several months after it was published. Still, my complaint didn’t seem to take hold.”

Bowman is grateful that Hannibal Buress brought the rape allegations into the light. But she is angry that she and the other women who accuse Cosby of rape were ignored. She is angry that it took the derision from a man to get any significant attention to the matter.

Bowman acknowledges that the statute of limitations has passed on these accusations. She wants to push for legislation that changes that. But she also sees that Cosby has a new comedy special coming to Netflix and a new sitcom from NBC. She thinks that Bill Cosby is living a life full of rewards that ignore what she and others accuse him of doing.

So far, Cosby remains silent on all this. Being silent has worked for years. Most people seem to trust the image they see of Cosby: a model father, funny guy, wise mentor, safe for their family. They reason that, if Bill Cosby had done anything that he could be convicted of, he would have been convicted. But he has not even been charged. Right now he is innocent, because he has not been proven otherwise.

The American public is certainly willing to destroy a person’s career based on accusations alone, if they have the impression that he or she “probably did it.” They won’t want for a conviction. It may seem odd that Cosby isn’t shouting back, insisting on his innocence, suing anyone. But America likes Bill Cosby. And that gives accusers like Barbara Bowman a tough current to row against. Maybe Hannibal Buress gave their fight the push it needed. As Barbara Bowman points out, they certainly weren’t getting any traction on their own.

  • Bill Cosby Accused Of Rape: “He Is A Monster”

Is Bill Cosby, one of the most loved father figures in television, a rapist?

According to artist and former actress Barbara Bowman, he is.

During an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Bowman revealed that the comedian had emotionally and sexually abused her as a teenager.

Bowman claims that she was drugged and repeatedly raped by the man who manipulated her into trusting him.

“I was drugged and raped by that man,” she said. “He is a monster. He came at me like a monster. My hope is that others who have experienced sexual abuse will not be intimidated into silence by the famous, rich and powerful. If I can help one victim, then I’ve done my job.”

Bowman said that she met Cosby through her agent J.F. Images when she was 17 years old, and he served as her mentor from then on. She said she knew that something wasn’t right with their mentor/mentoree relationship, but didn’t want to fall back in her acting career.

“I knew something was wrong, that this was a twisted situation, but if I resisted, I was failing him and failing my good fortune. He was a pot of gold and I needed to take good care of it,” she explained.

Bowman said that she is now coming forward in hopes that she can help others who have been the victim of abuse.

“I’m finally revealing all of my full story in hopes that others will learn to read the tell-tale signs of abuse and not wait as long as I did,” Bowman said. “No one believed me for years. They said Bill would never do that. That it was preposterous. But I’m putting my name out there and standing behind these words, just like Burress. No more code of silence.”

Barbara Bowman Claims She Was Raped By Bill Cosby

Barbara Bowman was only a teenager when she met Bill Cosby. She thought he was going to act as her mentor and help her get a foot in the door and start her acting career, but according to Bowman, Cosby was not who she thought he was and instead of helping her, he allegedly raped her on several occasions.

“I was drugged and raped by that man,” she said during a recent interview with MailOnline. “He is a monster. He came at me like a monster. My hope is that others who have experienced sexual abuse will not be intimidated into silence by the famous, rich and powerful. If I can help one victim, then I’ve done my job.”

Bowman had a private audition for Cosby in 1985 and hoped that he would take her under his wing and help her become successful. Two years after meeting him, she claims that he held her down for the first time and raped her. She claimed that he would go on to rape her over and over again using drugs and various forms of mental manipulation to break her will and keep her quiet.

Because Cosby was such a big name in Hollywood and because he seems like the kind of guy who could never do such a thing, Bowman said that it was hard for her to come forward with her story and even harder to get people to believe her.

“I’m finally revealing all of my full story in hopes that others will learn to read the tell-tale signs of abuse and not wait as long as I did. No one believed me for years. They said Bill would never do that. That it was preposterous. But I’m putting my name out there and standing behind these words, just like Burress. No more code of silence. I’ve been silent too long. It’s time to raise a fuss. I’m a real person that this happened to. And it’s taken decades to get over what he did to me,” she added.

Bowman said that she wasn’t Cosby’s only victim, but claims that he paid the others off to prevent them from talking. Another victim allegedly settled with Cosby in court. This prevents them from coming forward about their ordeals now, but Bowman said she can and will tell the truth about what happened to her.
