  • Cindy Kimberly: Hazel-Eyed Babysitter Becomes Justin Bieber’s New Crush

Thanks to Justin Bieber’s rabid fans, Cindy Kimberly is now a certified celebrity.

On Monday, the 21-year-old pop superstar posted the photo of a gorgeous hazel-eyed brunette on his Instagram page, with the caption: “OMG who is this!!” It took merely minutes for his fans to track down the social media accounts of the mysterious girl, who turns out to be a regular 17-year-old from Spain by the name of Cindy Kimberly.

Little is known about Bieber’s newest social media crush, other than the fact that she’s a babysitter and that she has a talent for drawing and painting.

Cindy Kimberly, who goes by the username @wolfiecindy on Instagram, also has a Tumblr page that she has since deleted, presumably due to the influx of followers and messages that has ensued following Justin Bieber’s “discovery” of her.

A babysitting website in which Cindy Kimberly advertises her services say: My name is Cindy Kimberly and I am 16. I can do the shopping and help with homework. “If you are looking for a baby sitter and you would like to know more about me, contact me.” But while most teenage girls would relish the idea of being the object of Justin Bieber’s admiration, Cindy Kimberly seems to be quite overwhelmed by the sudden attention she’s been getting all over social media.

The Spanish beauty’s latest post, which was released on Wednesday, featured a blank pink space with this caption: “I so do not know how to deal with this but I only have instagram (I did use to have a twitter account but I deactivated) Edit: I just deleted my tumblr and someone took my old url.”

There’s been no word yet on whether Justin Bieber plans on meeting up with Cindy Kimberly, but people are speculating that it’s nothing serious – especially after paparazzi spotted him and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez sharing a romantic dinner date just last month.

In addition, rumors claim that Bieber’s crush on Cindy Kimberly might be a ploy to get back at Gomez for allegedly kissing and spending time with One Direction member Niall Horan at Jenna Dewan’s birthday party on December 4th.

  • Dog Babysitter: Dog Alerts Parents of Abuse

Benjamin and Hope Jordan have experienced a parents worst nightmare: someone abusing their child. However, thanks to their loyal family pet, Killian, a black lab and German shepherd mix, they were able to discover the abuse and inform authorities.

Alexis Khan, 22 had been working for the Jordan family, watching 7-month-old, Finn Jordan, for nearly 5 months when the parents started realizing something was wrong and got suspicious.

“We noticed the dog was getting very defensive when Alexis was around. He would growl and stand between her and our son. His hair would stand up on the back of his neck and we knew something was up,” Benjamin said.

They decided to investigate, what they thought, was abuse to their dog. They placed an iPhone under the living room couch and recorded Khan while she was babysitting. What they heard shocked them completely. She wasn’t abusing the dog, but rather their 7-month-old baby.

Khan could be heard telling the infant to “shut the f*** up” and then calling him expletives. There was also sounds that sounded like slapping and shaking and the child’s cry was changing “from a distress cry to a pain cry.”

“Who knows how many children she has abused or how many more she would have had it not been for our dog,” asked Benjamin.

“Had our dog not alerted us to the trouble… it could have been Finn that was killed by the babysitter. You never know,” Benjamin said.

Khan was charged on Monday and plead guilty to assault and battery. She was then sentenced to one to three years in prison and is never allowed to work with children again.

  • Tablets Replace the Idiot Box as Electronic Babysitter [Infographic]

Do you remember all the derogatory names people had for the television when you were growing up? Some of my favorites were the boob tube, idiot box (image courtesy of Boysandgirls.ie), electronic fireplace, and electronic babysitter. This new Infographic from from Schools.com raises our awareness about a new babysitter in town.

According to the graphic, seven out of ten children in tablet-owning homes have used tablets, and more than 20% of parents admit to giving children smartphones, iPods, or an iPad to keep them occupied while they run errands. They also admit to downloading apps that are specifically for their children.

So what are these kids using these devices for? All kinds of things including games, movies, networking with friends–essentially the same stuff adults use them for. The good news is that there are certain benefits that go along with using these devices at an early age. In fact, One study found that kindergartners who used an iPad scored better on tests than those who did not. Very interesting.

So, I don’t know if it’s quite like the old idiot box, but it does make a lot of sense. Parents are always looking for new ways to keep their children entertained as they get on with the necessary tasks of the day. If they can make it an educational experience, why not use our smartphones or tablets? It’s better than chasing them down the aisles of the grocery store.
