  • Hope Solo Asking For Her Charges To Be Dismissed

Seattle Reign FC goal-keeper Hope Solo is hoping to have the misdemeanor assault charges against her dismissed.

Solo is accused of assaulting her half-sister and 17 year old nephew during a family feud. According to reports, Solo drunkenly, and repeatedly, hit her sister and nephew while visiting them at their Kirkland home in June.

Police reports explained that police were called to the scene when a family member called 911 and revealed that Hope was allegedly “going crazy and hitting people.” When the police arrived at the home, they heard Solo shouting and found her sister and nephew crying with visible injuries.

Police then arrested Solo, who was reportedly drunk at the time. She spent two nights in jail and then pleaded not guilty to two counts of fourth-degree domestic violence in June. Not long after the story reached the media, Solo issued a statement to her fans, via Facebook.

“I would like to apologize to my fans, teammates, coaches, marketing partners and the entire US Soccer and Seattle Reign FC communities for my involvement in a highly unfortunate incident this past weekend,” the post read. “I understand that, as a public figure, I am held to a higher standard of conduct. I take seriously my responsibilities as a role model and sincerely apologize to everyone I have disappointed.”

“I love my family dearly,” the post added. “We, like all families, have our challenges but my sincere hope is that we are able to resolve this situation as a family. Adversity has always made us stronger and I know this situation will be no different.”

Solo’s court date has been scheduled for November, however she appeared in court on Monday with her lawyer to ask that the charges against her be dismissed. Her lawyer explained that Solo was also a victim in the dispute, and asked that evidence be excluded.

  • Taylor Lewan, NFL Draft Prospect, Facing Multiple Misdemeanor Charges

One of the top NFL draft prospects, Taylor Lewan, has been charged with multiple misdemeanors. He is a graduate from the University of Michigan, and a previous encounter has finally caught up with him, just months before the draft.

Taylor Lewan was involved in a fight that took place on December 1, following their big game against their rivals, Ohio State. While it is not likely, some are even placing him as one of the top prospects in the draft, and deserving of a No.1 overall pick.

Weeks after the incident, he was interviewed, and said “I wasn’t in any fight. I didn’t hit anybody. I was really just trying to help out a situation and break up something. I can’t really go into any more details than that.” He assured everyone that the truth would come out, and that it would all work out in the end.

Taylor Lewan was allegedly involved in the incident, which occurred on South University Avenue near central campus following their loss. At the time, he was one of several people interviewed by police after an Ohio State fan said he was assaulted outside a downtown Ann Arbor restaurant.

He is the only one who has been charged with assault following the fight. According to the report, he could be facing one charge of aggravated assault, and two charges of assault and battery. Lewan is scheduled to appear at an arraignment at 9 a.m. on April 8th, in Ann Arbor’s 15th District Court.

In Michigan, assault and battery is a misdemeanor punishable by 93 days in jail or a fine of up to $500. However, aggravated assault is much worse, and if that stands, he could face one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Lewan started 48 games at left tackle in his Michigan career, a team that has had success in recent years. He was also named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2012 and 2013. However, after being charged with multiple three misdemeanors, his draft status could be ruined.

Taylor Lewan was a two-time All American, and is considered one of the top three offensive tackles in the draft. If he is charged with aggravated assault, he will not be eligible for the draft. Did this incident ruin his career?

  • Jennifer Capriati Off The Hook For Battery And Stalking

On Monday it was announced that Jennifer Capriati is off the hook for battery and stalking charges that were brought against her. The former tennis star was reportedly charged in 2013 after a confrontation with an ex-boyfriend.

According to Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County State attorney’s office, the misdemeanor charges were dropped after Capriati completed 30 hours of community service and underwent four hours of anger management counseling sessions.

Court documents reveal Capriati completed her community service at Pepin Heart Institute in Tampa, FL and attended anger management sessions last week.

“Those are standard conditions for a deferred prosecution,” Edmondson said.

On Feb. 14th, 2013 (Valentine’s Day), the 37-year-old Capriati is alleged to have repeatedly punched her ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan at a gym and stalked him for months prior to that incident. A witness, who is also one of Brannan’s co-workers, told authorities that Capriati tried to enter a locked room at their place of business and sometimes called as much as 50 times a day.

Capriati is an international tennis legend who began playing professional tennis at age 13. In the 1992 Barcelona Olympic, she won a gold medal. She also won the women’s Australian and the French Open. Capriati is one of the most accomplished professional women’s tennis players in the world, having won 14 singles tournaments in her tennis career.

This was not the first time the International Tennis Hall of Famer found herself on the wrong side of the law. Her sporting career was briefly interrupted in the mid-1990s when she was arrested for shoplifting and marijuana charges.

Efforts to trace her for comments were not successful.

Here’s what led to the charges against Capriati
