  • Ashley Greene Condo Fire Drama: Was a Glass Crack Pipe the Cause of the Fire?

Ashley Greene‘s condo fire lawsuit has had some new twists, and it is looking like it’s becoming a he-said-she-said scenario.

TMZ initially reported that a glass crack pipe was found in the Twilight star’s West Hollywood condo after a March 2013 fire. However, a source close to the actress told Us Weekly that the report is false.

TMZ allegedly obtained a sworn deposition of building manager Adrian Mayorga, who is suing Greene after claiming he “suffered permanent respiratory damage” as a result of the fire.

Several other tenants in the building also are allegedly suing the actress.

At the time of the fire in March 2013, Greene, 27, her brother, and her then-boyfriend Ryan Phillippe were all supposedly sleeping inside the condo. The blaze also claimed the life of the actress’ dog.

A source close to Greene debunked the manager’s statement, telling Us, “There was no crack pipe found in Ashley’s apartment. It’s all hearsay from unnamed sources — Mayorga’s claiming he heard from a friend of an unidentified worker who may have entered the apartment. Additionally, Phillippe went on the record saying he wasn’t there.”

Mayorga allegedly said in the deposition that Greene and her guests looked “disoriented … they looked like they were drunk or under the influence of something.” He also states that a glass crack pipe was found in Greene’s apartment by a man clearing up the wreckage.

“Of course Ashley was disoriented!” said the source. “She was awoken at 9 a.m. to her house being on fire. Who wouldn’t be?”

Mayorga said in the deposition that, “The only people I saw getting treated was Ashley Greene, her brother Joe Green, and the current boyfriend, Ryan Phillippe.”

Phillippe has a sworn declaration saying that he had never been in Greene’s apartment, let alone the night of the fire.

  • Ashley Greene: No Glass Crack Pipe at Fire Scene

Ashley Greene lost one of her dogs in a fire that tore through her West Hollywood apartment back in March of 2013. After the fire her building manager, Adrian Mayorga, reportedly filed suit against the Twilight actress, saying he “suffered permanent respiratory damage” from the fire he said was Greene’s fault. He also reported that a glass crack pipe was present at the scene of the fire.

A source close to Ashley Greene recently told Us Weekly that the building manager’s claim was bogus.

“There was no crack pipe found in Ashley’s apartment. It’s all hearsay from unnamed sources–Mayorga’s claiming he heard from a friend of an unidentified worker who may have entered the apartment. Additionally, Phillippe went on the record saying he wasn’t there,” the source said.

Adrian Mayorga claimed in his deposition that Greene and her guests appeared “disoriented … they looked like they were drunk or under the influence of something.”

Mayorga also said that a man cleaning up debris following the fire in Greene’s apartment found a glass crack pipe.

“Of course Ashley was disoriented! She was awoken at 9 a.m. to her house being on fire. Who wouldn’t be?” the source said.

And even though Adrian Mayorga claimed he had respiratory damage, he also named everyone he believed received treatment after the fire. He wasn’t among those needing treatment?

“The only people I saw getting treated was Ashley Greene, her brother Joe Green, and the current boyfriend, Ryan Phillippe,” Mayorga said in his deposition.

Ryan Phillippe, who is Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband, submitted a sworn declaration that said not only wasn’t he at Ashley Greene’s apartment the night of the fire, but that he had never even been there at all–not ever.

Does it sound to you like this building manager is hoping to get something for nothing out of what could have been a potentially deadly fire? By supposedly making up things–like there having been a crack pipe at the scene and the presence of Ryan Phillippe–was he trying to capitalize on any funds the Twilight star might have accrued during her acting career?

  • Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder Dating

Twilight franchise actress Nikki Reed is reported to be unironically dating The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder, according to US Magazine.

The two were spotted jogging together in Los Angeles on Saturday, and then again at the Studio City Farmer’s Market on Sunday. Somerhalder kept his arms around Reed, repeatedly kissing her on the cheek. The couple was also seen at dinner last week in the San Fernando Valley, and at Kiwami in Studio City on Tuesday, July 15.

Aside from a mutually deep understanding of vampiric acting technique, Reed and Somerhalder have run in the same circles. Somerhalder dated Reed’s Twilight costar Ashley Greene in 2009, and Reed is close friends with Somerhalder’s The Vampire Diaries costar and ex Nina Dobrev. Both Dobrev and Reed dated Dancing With the Stars’ Derek Hough, who was Reed’s first fling after divorcing American Idol alum Paul McDonald, after two years of marriage.

Nicole Houston “Nikki” Reed, 26, began her career co-writing and starring in Catherine Hardwicke’s 2003 drama Thirteen. The script was written in six days, and was a semi-autobiographical take on Reed’s life. Though critically acclaimed, the film courted a bit of controversy due to its portrayal of drug and alcohol abuse, underage sexual behavior and self-harm.

    Here is the trailer:

Ian Joseph Somerhalder, 35, got his start in modelling at the age of ten, and went into acting at 17. Aside from his role as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, he is best known for playing Boone Carlyle on ABC’s cult hit Lost.

Vampire enthusiasts appear to be pleased with the match:

  • Zach Braff Kills the Subjunctive Mood, Doesn’t Care

Zach Braff isn’t known for his good grammar, and he’s getting lots of heat from academic types who have accused him of killing the subjunctive mood in the title of his new film Wish I Was Here. They think Braff has committed a huge grammatical faux pas and can’t see the film for lack of getting past its title.

Zach defended his choice in an interview with Vulture.

“The whole film is about a dad who’s not an academic trying to teach his kids, and his kids know more than he does,” Zach Braff said. “His daughter is constantly correcting him when he says who instead of whom; and so the title, although it has another meaning, we grammatically did it incorrect on purpose, because it’s about a father who is actually learning from his children who are brighter than he is.”

Wish I Was Here stars Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Ashley Greene, and Josh Gad in addition to Zach Braff. Zach and brother Adam Braff co-wrote the screenplay.

Yahoo points out that as he defends his title to Vulture, he even uses the word ‘incorrect’ incorrectly. It should actually have been ‘incorrectly’ in the context he used.

This isn’t the first time Zach Braff has had to defend the title of his film. He said the following during an interview with Empire.com.

Wish I Was Here sounds cooler than Wish I Were Here. Then the movie’s about a father who’s trying to teach his kids at home despite not being much of an academic himself. So it works in two ways, really, but yeah, I take your point,” he said when called out by his interviewer.

All of these grammatically incorrect statements made the Washington Post’s Alexandra Petri’s skin crawl.

“Listen, buddy,” she wrote–addressing Zach Braff. “You like yourself some wistful counterfactuals, do you? Well, let’s get one thing straight. There are two ways to express a counterfactual wish. One way is with the subjunctive. The other way is wrong.”

People have even taken to Twitter to bash Zach Braff.

Okay, so Zach Braff likely gets it. Still he doesn’t seem to care. What he does care about is whether or not people are going to see Wish I Was Here.

So far it sounds like it’s battling–based on box office sales–to get a full nationwide run in theaters.

  • Ashley Greene: Twilight Star Plays Priscilla Presley

Ashley Greene of Twilight fame has transformed from vampire status to that of Priscilla Presley in a new indie film. Shangri-La Suite features Ron Livingston as Elvis Presley. Emily Browning and Alyvia Alyn Lind also star in the film.

The film takes viewers back to 1974, and tells the story of two troubled mental hospital patients–Karen (played by Emily Browning) and Jack (played by Luke Grimes). The pair fall in love and head on a cross-country adventure where they plan to murder Elvis during an L.A. concert appearance.

Eddie O’Keefe directs Shangri-La Suite–in fact it’s his directorial debut. Aside from the plot line and details about Ashley Greene rocking a very hot retro one piece swimsuit–not much else has been shared about the film–including when it might hit the big screen.

Here’s what we do know about Shangri-La Suite. It takes place after Elvis and Priscilla have divorced. And believe it or not, they aren’t the focus of the film. Browing and Grimes are. The film portrays Elvis and Priscilla’s relationship as an amicable one.

Ashley Greene is probably best known for her role as Alice Cullen in the Twilight series of films. The pretty actress and model once posed nude in a painted-on bikini for SoBe advertisements that ran in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition back in 2010. She appeared in the film flop LOL, which also starred Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore.

Might Shangri-La catapult Ashley Greene into eternal stardom as she portrays Priscilla Presley? It doesn’t really sound that way. In fact, if it nudges her an inch or two above LOL and below Twilight (and quite honestly, to be below Twilight is itself an insult) it might just be a deemed successful–at least for her. It just doesn’t seem like any film that features an Elvis look-alike stands much of a chance in 2014.

  • Ashley Greene Marries Elvis in ‘Shangri-La Suite’

Ashley Greene marries Elvis Presley in her upcoming film Shangri-La Suite.

In the movie, Greene plays Elvis’s former wife, Priscilla Presley; the couple were married from 1967-1973. Office Space and Boardwalk Empire star Ron Livingston takes on the role of “the King” Elvis. The film is set in 1974, a year after Priscilla and Elvis’s divorce. From pictures taken while filming Shangri-La Suite, it appears that the movie will depict the amicable relationship that the couple maintained after the end of their marriage. However, Elvis and Priscilla’s marriage won’t be the focus of this film, because they are only supporting characters in Shangri-La Suite; this isn’t a biopic. Instead, the film is a fictionalized account of two twenty-somethings who decide to kill Elvis.

Emily Browning and Luke Grimes, as Karen and Jack, lead the kill Elvis mission. Yahoo Movies describes their characters as a mixture between Bonnie and Clyde and Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory (Juliette Lewis) Knox from Natural Born Killers. Jack and Karen meet and fall in love at a mental institution. After the pair’s release, they set off to fulfill Jack’s destiny to kill the king. Along the way, their friend Teijo, played by Twisted star Avan Jogia, joins them on their quest. Teijo has his own mission: he wants to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Eddie O’Keefe wrote the screenplay for Shangri-La Suite with Chris Hutton. The film is O’Keefe’s directorial debut.

Greene’s last major film project was Kickstarter funded Wish I Was Here. This film is produced, written, and directed by Scrubs star Zach Braff.  Wish I Was Here’s cast also includes Josh Gad, Jim Parsons, Kate Hudson, Donald Faison, and Mandy Patinkin. The movie premiered at Sundance in January of this year.

Besides Wish I Was Here and Shangri-La Suite, Green has several film projects in post-production this year: Burying the Ex, Random, and Staten Island Summer.

Shangri-La Suite has yet to set a release date.
