Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have been one of the golden couples of Hollywood for the past four years, and when speculation began to grow that they’d split earlier this year, Emma spoke up and said she didn’t like talking about such personal things. That may have been a hint that something wasn’t right, as the duo have reportedly broken things off for good.
According to E! News, Emma and Andrew decided to let each other go due to their insanely hectic schedules, something that was getting more and more difficult to work around. However, the two of them are still friends, according to a source, and still care about each other.
Emma told WSJ Magazine this summer that she didn’t like feeding the fire when it came to her personal life, because ultimately it doesn’t matter what she says; the media will spin it any way they want.
“See, I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason—because it’s all so speculative and baseless. Once you start responding—once you’re like, ‘No, that’s not true’—then they’re like, ‘Well, if we push enough, we’ll get a comment, so let’s see what else we can make up.’ I understand the interest in it completely, because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it. There’s probably some rebelliousness that comes out in me after all these stories and people texting you for weeks about something that, for the most part, is not true. But even when it’s false, I would rather just let it be false,” Emma Stone said.
Stone and Garfield reportedly took a break earlier this year while he was filming the Scorsese project Silence, but reunited soon after. The former couple always tried to keep their relationship for themselves and often trolled the paparazzi when they knew they were being followed, but sources say that’s not the reason for the split.
