  • Breitbart To Release Unedited Obama Race Video

Earlier today Ben Smith from Buzzfeed announced on Twitter that he had found a semi-famous tape about then harvard student Obama that Andrew Breitbart had been looking for:

So I think @BuzzFeedAndrew may have just turned up the mysterious Harvard/Obama/race video that the Breitbart folks have been talking about.(image) 2 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Well as it tuns out, according to Breitbart.com, the tape was selectively edited to make Obama look good. Throughout the day “Breitbart.com will be releasing additional footage that has been hidden by Obama’s allies in the mainstream media and academia.”

Breitbart.com Editor-in-Chief Joel Pollak and Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro will appear on The Sean Hannity Show on Fox News tonight to discuss the tape. The full tape will be released tonight on Fox News’ Hannity at 9:00pm EST.

Breitbart had this to say in a previous interview: “I’ve got video from his college days that show you why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008 – the videos are going to come out…”

Before his death, Breitbart was bent on vetting Obama which he felt the media never did.

  • Breitbart’s 2.0 Launches Just Days After Death

The late Andrew Breitbart was working diligently on a new project at the time of his sudden death. He was just about to launch his newly redesigned Breitbart 2.0 website with featured a combined news and opinion portal.

As many of you may already know, Breitbart died last week at the age of 43 of a suspected heart attack. Officials are still waiting for lab results to verify. He was known as an outspoken activist, writer, and website operator. He is survived by his wife and four young children.

One of his websites, BigGovernment.com released this message about his untimely death last thursday:

“Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles,”

“Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.”

Today, as a tribute to Andrew, his close friend and business partner Larry Solov announces the release of Breitbart 2.0 and sends readers a message. He speaks about what Andrew hoped to accomplish with the new site and with his influential role as a journalist in general.

    Solov wrote,

Today, as Andrew dreamed and planned, we launch what he called “Breitbart 2.0.”
Many of you wondered what he was working on so hard during the last year of his life. Here it is.

This was Andrew’s design. And it is Big, like everything else about him. It took him – and all of us – sleepless nights and countless hours to make it a reality.

We go forward infused with Andrew’s fire, his fight, his humor and his warrior spirit.

His voice lives on now through us and through you – the army of friends and citizen journalist contributors he so deeply inspired and whom he, in turn, admired.

Andrew’s battle – our battle – has only just begun.

Breitbart was best known for uncovering scandals involving U.S. Dept. of Agriculture employee Shirley Sherrod and New York Rep. Anthony Weiner. A defimation of character suit filed by Sherrod was still underway at the time of Breitbart’s death.

  • Andrew Breitbart Tapes To Be Released

We reported earlier about the conspiracy theories already swirling about Andrew Breitbart’s death. Was it a hit? Who did he anger? Did it have anything to do with the tapes he was saying he would release about President Obama?

Now, Breitbart associate Steve Bannon tells Sean Hannity that they will be releasing those tapes in “a week or two”.

Once those tapes are released, I’m sure there will be more speculation about whether that material was worth killing for. Anyone remember James McDougal?

  • Andrew Breitbart Conspiracy Theories Starting

    Andrew Breitbart Conspiracy Theories Starting

In a posting on lsnewsgroup.com, Lawrence Sinclair spoke about Andrew Breitbart and the professional relationship that the two of them shared. The story consisted of some confusing questions about whether or not Breitbart’s death was from “natural causes”. There is no other, more sinister, cause mentioned in the article itself. But, Sinclair then makes rather bewildering statement:

Andrew Breitbart was one of the inspirations behind our consolidation of our multiple domain names into what has become Sinclair-News-LSNewsGroup. With the announcement of Andrew’s passing overnight we could not help recalling our conversation just 3 weeks ago in Washington, DC. Andrew said on Feb 9, 2012 in Washington, DC “wait til they see what happens March first.”

What did happen March 1st? Breitbart died, of course. Why did he make this statement to Sinclair? Sinclair never says.

Comments on the article questioned this, as well.

OMG someone give me some context on the “march 1st” thing, and why he would possibly be a target for assassination.

He died for speaking the truth. And that is what killed him. He stepped over the line.

He had the goods on somebody very powerful and that somebody had him killed. Case closed.

Since that original posting, it has been appended with the following statement:

In light of the comments which have been posted on this article we want to make something perfectly clear. We are not and have not said nor do we believe the death of Andrew Breitbart is the result of anything other than a believed heart attack. We simply reported that different media outlets reporting the cause of death as being of “natural causes” before a cause of death has been determined is wrong and has created this sense of something more sinister. While we are certain Joel Pollak meant well with stating his opinion as to the cause of death (as did Andrews father-in-law) reporting “natural causes” as being “fact” before a cause had been official determined and entered on a death certificate is wrong for so many obvious reasons.

Paul Joseph Watson, on InfoWars.com, piled on by conflating Breitbart’s death with his plans to release some tapes from President Obama’s days at Harvard. Breitbart had said these tapes would show “why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008”

“In a stunning coincidence, it appears Andrew Breitbart suffered his untimely death just hours before he was set to release damning video footage that could have sunk Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.”

The tinfoil hat crowd even has theories about how Breitbart’s heart attack was “induced”.

‘The standard method of assassination to provide a certified autopsy report of “death by natural causes” is the little EM beam “shooter” using the Venus ECCM technique – i.e., warping of its wavefront – to destroy the body’s control of its heartbeat.’

Like Bill Clinton before him, quiet rumblings of murder plots are forming about President Obama.

  • Andrew Breitbart’s Final Conversation

According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter, a marketing executive who happened to meet Andrew Breitbart just before he died recounted a conversation he had with the blogger. The two apparently met in a bar at The Brentwood restaurant, began talking politics, and parted a little less than two hours later. The exec, Arthur Sando, was likely the last person to talk with Breitbart.

Sando said Breitbart sipped red wine during their conversation, was on his Blackberry a lot, but was not drinking heavily or showing any sign of health problems. The two talked about the current lineup of Republican candidates, Breitbart’s appearances on Bill Maher’s program, and then exchanged contact information and parted.

Breitbart, who had a history of heart problems, suffered a heart attack shortly thereafter, perhaps walking home from the bar.

Speaking of Breitbart’s appearances on Maher’s show, here’s a sample (brief “language”).

Andrew Breitbart’s Death Unleashes Foul Torrent of Nastiness On Twitter

Well, Rush Limbaugh thought highly of Andrew Breitbart. And, so did a considerable number of other people.

These people, on the other hand, did not. And, they are taking the occasion of his passing to say so out loud. Now, my mother taught me that it was in poor taste to speak ill of the dead, or at least the recently-deceased. And, you certainly don’t celebrate their death. Unless it’s Osama bin Laden.

Now, this kind of behavior is, to put it mildly, shocking. But, as much as I would like to step in and chide everyone for being so nasty, so soon, it’s a tough stance to make. And here’s why.

When Senator Edward Kennedy died, similar appeals were made to the better angels of our nature to put aside nastiness during the mourning period. Lots of people did not like Ted Kennedy. But, most kept a civil tongue. Except…

Well, let’s let these two gentlemen take it from there.

It’s really tough to tell people to be nice during the mourning period of a man who had no respect for the mourning period of others. But, that is exactly why we should check our tongues during this period. If the kind of invective Breitbart spread in these tweets was what made you hate him, then don’t be him. Take the high road. Show a better way, no matter what party you are in or whom you intend to vote for.

    Be decent.

  • Rush Limbaugh Eulogizes Andrew Breitbart

    Rush Limbaugh Eulogizes Andrew Breitbart

In the opening segment of his radio show today, Rush Limbaugh spoke about his friend Andrew Breitbart. The transcript of his comments was made available.

“A few words about Andrew Breitbart. I’ve known Andrew Breitbart since the 1990s when he was working with Matt Drudge to help produce that page, the Drudge Report, each and every day. He grew up in West Los Angeles, surrounded by liberals, father-in-law Orson Bean, the comedian. Sometime during the 1990s, the early nineties, Breitbart had an awakening. He was constantly questioning what was all around him, which was really extreme liberalism, and he became, as many of you in the audience know, a bulldog. He literally was an indefatigable bulldog for the conservative cause. He did things that nobody else has done on the Internet where there are a lot of players. He accomplished quite a lot, much more than a lot of people.

A lot of people get into the business for a number of reasons. His was to effect change. He really sought to affect change above everything else. A lot of people get into it to make a name for themselves. He was about that, too, of course, but he really was about affecting change, and he did on numerous occasions with ACORN, Anthony Weiner, Shirley Sherrod, just to name three of his most famous examples. But he was a bulldog. He was walking outside his home in his neighborhood in Brentwood just after midnight, keeled over. People had talked to him two hours prior, he sounded perfectly fine. They’re shocked. Family’s stunned. I mean there were some reports of health problems, but there was no indication of this.

So everybody’s in a state of shock today trying to make sense of it. And when something like this happens to somebody a lot of people know at a very young age, you could say he died too young by half, he’s 43, life expectancy in the early eighties. You’re reminded once again, it’s become a cliche but it’s worth mentioning. You only get one life, and most people don’t get as much out of it as they could. Human nature. And one of the reasons that most people don’t get the most out of their lives that they can is they can’t stop thinking about themselves. And the more you think about yourself the more depressed you’re gonna get. Human nature. The more you think about yourself, the less you are aware of things going on outside your sphere. It’s hard not to do that, and Breitbart did that.

Breitbart was outside himself in all of his quests. When I say indefatigable, I never heard of him sleeping. I know he did, but he was constantly on the go. He was also a grateful guy and very thoughtful. He was guest at our wedding in 2010, and about two months prior he sent Cookie a note, wanted to know if she knew who one of my most inspirational figures was. She told him. He presented us with a classic painting of Ronald Reagan, and every year since, every birthday, three birthdays, he has sent me a giant painting, a different rendering of the American flag.

It’s a very sad thing to see this happen. And I’ve been made aware that some of the leftists on Twitter and other blog sites are filled with an unspeakable callous and coarse mean-spiritedness today. When I heard about it I went to some of these sites and I read some of the tweets, some of them from well-known left-wing journalists, Slate.com, you would not believe it, I’m struck. What is there to compromise with these people? Where is the area for compromise with these people? I mean it is really vicious stuff, which, in the end he would have loved and was a testament to his effectiveness and effective he was.

Even today, the AP in their story, slash, obit of Andrew Breitbart misrepresents him, even in death. And maybe fittingly, given his quest in life, this AP article is a textbook example of the kind of outrageous mendacity in the news media today that he fought against. Even in death the AP cannot refrain from lying about him and misrepresenting him. They treat his posting of the Shirley Sherrod video clip as one of the highlights of his career only in order to use it against him. But Breitbart’s clip did not misrepresent her views.

The clip that he posted — he had the Big Government websites, Big Journalism websites — the clip that he posted of Shirley Sherrod contained enough of her comments that any fair-minded viewer would realize she was telling the audience about her previous prejudices. This was the case involving all of the mythical black farmers that were signed up for a giant government payout. She and her husband were in on that, and so many of them were not qualified to receive the payment. They all got the payment on the basis of past racism and bigotry and all of this. He exposed Shirley Sherrod, just as he supposed Anthony Weiner’s photos, or Anthony’s Weiner photos, he exposed ’em. Where’s Weiner today? He’s walking the baby to the dry cleaners in Queens.

Then there was ACORN. Remember the James O’Keefe videos. That was Andrew Breitbart. They went walking in portraying a pimp and a prostitute looking for ways to scam the system, and there was ACORN telling ’em how to do it. All caught on tape. It caused ACORN to theoretically shut down, and change their name and come back to life as a bunch of separate organizations. The AP article damns Andrew Breitbart with faint praise. It describes him as “an outspoken critic of the mainstream media but was lionized by his fans for his efforts at exposing government corruption and media bias.” Now, was he only lionized by his fans?

Wouldn’t you think that real life journalists would applaud Breitbart’s efforts to expose government corruption and media bias? I mean, what does the media claim to exist to do? To hold the powerful accountable! “Speak truth to power,” is that the phrase? Well, the mainstream media has become part of the power. When that power is held by the Democrat Party, the mainstream media covers up the corruption. He was exposing it. He did more and greater work than Woodward and Bernstein! He should have been one of their heroes. But he wasn’t. He should have been given the same kind of hero worship that Woodward and Bernstein have gotten. And unlike the work of Woodward and Bernstein, Breitbart’s investigations were actually truthful.

Now, at the bottom of the article, the AP notes that, quote, “Breitbart’s websites also featured a 2009 hidden-camera sting video that brought embarrassment to the community group ACORN. The videos show ACORN staffers offering advice on taxes and other issues to actors posing as a prostitute and pimp,” close quote, which is another blatant misrepresentation. We all know that those ACORN staffers were doing more than “offering advice on taxes and other issues.” Why else would they have been fired? They were all fired in humiliating disgrace. Why didn’t ACORN lose its funding? Why was it disbanded, and then rebranded and put back together?

    Because of Andrew Breitbart.

All in all, this AP article just goes to show that the country desperately needs another thousand more Andrew Breitbarts, if you ask me. He was something. Constantly on the go. Constantly revved up. He was at Tea Party event. He went to CPAC. He would even occasionally go to breakfast meetings of various Republican members of Congress, sit with them and discuss strategy, the way to effectively advance ideas and be victorious. You know, all of us are unique. It’s true to say that there will never be another Andrew Breitbart. There will never be another anybody because we’re all unique. I hope that the people who worked with him can maintain the tradition, the energy, and the effectiveness that his websites all were after his passing.

I know they’re going to try, and I know they’ll do it with a sense of honor, duty, and devotion to Breitbart as well as the fact they love it, too. It’s just really a sad thing. Everybody is totally taken by surprise, as I say. He was on the phone with people two hours before he died. Nobody knew that anything was wrong. Now, he’d had some health problems. People knew that. But there was no terminal diagnosis involved here. There was no ongoing illness that people were aware of. There were some health problems, but nothing that indicated anything like this. Except maybe to people very close to him. Who knows?

But at ten o’clock last night people were talking to him on the phone and two hours later he keels over on the sidewalk in his neighborhood in Brentwood. He’ll be missed by a lot of people. I will say one thing that happened to him. The Pigford thing. That was the Shirley Sherrod case. That was the USDA. The Pigford settlement. This is where all those black farmers scored big on the federal government for past discrimination way, way back. They just tried to find as many people as they could that had never been farmers; family had never been farmers. It was one of his highlights of his career. But I noted change in him over the years, and I think this is a life lesson.

Over the years, the whole thing he was involved seems to lose some of the fun factor as the intensity and the seriousness of it picked up. And this loops back to the notion that we all only have one life. I hope that that didn’t have anything to do with it. I mean, he was very intense. He was profoundly intense, and at times he’d get very mad, very angry — as we all do — and very frustrated. Everybody wants to matter. Everybody wants to be effective. He was far more effective than he probably ever dreamed, but probably wanted to be even more so. So let’s hope that the people who were around him, who were inspired by him, can keep his work going as though he were still there.

‘Cause that work is crucially important to a lot of people on the conservative side. As I say: Remember, now, he grew up in West LA. He grew up surround by liberals. He told me. We interviewed him here for his book. We interviewed him for the Limbaugh Letter. He described the process that he took, or that occurred to him as he began to question some of this stuff that just been inculcated, drilled into him from the time he was born. He began to question it. A lot of it didn’t make sense. And then one day, a big burst of reality hit, and his life changed forever. Andrew Breitbart was 43 years old and he’s going to be missed by everybody who knew him.”

Matt Drudge Shares His Grief on the Death of Andrew Breitbart

Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart passed away today. The AP reports that Breitbart collapsed while walking near his home in the Brentwood neighborhood. Someone called paramedics who tried to revive him, unsuccessfully.

Breitbart was a protegé of blogger Matt Drudge before Drudge introduced him to Arianna Huffington. Breitbart would later go on to help Huffington launch her eponymous website, before she became a liberal. Today, Matt Drudge posted a banner announcement on his own site, The Drudge Report. The message read:

DEAR READER: In the first decade of the DRUDGEREPORT Andrew Breitbart was a constant source of energy, passion and commitment. We shared a love of headlines, a love of the news, an excitement about what’s happening. I don’t think there was a single day during that time when we did not flash each other or laugh with each other, or challenge each other. I still see him in my mind’s eye in Venice Beach, the sunny day I met him. He was in his mid 20’s. It was all there. He had a wonderful, loving family and we all feel great sadness for them today… MDRUDGE

  • Weiner Scares Fellow Congressional Tweeters

    Weiner Scares Fellow Congressional Tweeters

Not only has the Weinergate scandal had an effect on the American people, the beltway media and obviously Anthony Weiner, but it has apparently had a great effect on Weiner’s fellow members of the U.S. congress. A new report shows that since the Weiner story exploded the weekend of May 27th, House and Senate members have been a little Twitter-shy.

Here’s the quick version of Weinergate: On May 27th, New York Congressman Anthony Weiner’s Twitter account sent an @ message to a young Seattle woman containing a lewd picture of a penis. Although the tweet was quickly removed, conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart’s site Big Government published a story containing the image, which had been captured.

Weiner at first denied that he sent the tweet, saying that his account had been hacked. On Monday, he scheduled a press conference and admitted that he had in fact sent the tweet and that it was part of a pattern of inappropriate virtual communications with multiple women. Since then, many of his alleged cyber-mistresses have come out, describing their online affairs with the congressman and providing Twitter, Facebook and email evidence.

Stats coming from TweetCongress and site/app design company IdeaLoop suggest that Weiner’s predicament has made most of Congress bashful when it comes to Twitter – both Republicans and Democrats.

According to the stats, Tweet volume from Republicans shot down 27% in the week following the weekend scandal. Democratic Tweet volume went down 29%. What are the two lowest Tweet volume days for both Repubs and Democrats? May 30th, the Monday after the scandal broke and June 6th, the day Weiner admitted everything.

Either U.S. Congress members just coincidentally didn’t have anything to say the past 10 days, or some of them are a little scared of all the scrutiny surrounding Tweets right now.

Another interesting thing revealed in these stats – a lot of our legislators don’t Tweet. There are 232 active Republican members and 168 active Democratic members of the service. And when you add the House to the Senate, it equals 535 total members of the legislative branch. That means that about 25% of them are not active Twitter users. What gives?

As far as the Weinergate scandal goes currently, a new lewd photograph supposedly of Weiner has been leaked. Breitbart, who originally said he would not release this particular photo because it was extremely graphic, appeared on the Opie and Anthony radio show this week. He claims that they leaked the photo, which shows a nude erect penis, without his permission:

But during the interview, they asked me if they could see it. I said, “Well, make sure you don’t show it to anyone.” And Jim Norton said, “There aren’t any cameras here.” And so I felt very comfortable that nothing, you know, bad would happen with it. And next thing I know, I found out that they surreptitiously recorded it and tweeted it on the Internet. And they’ve subsequently said — admitted that they did so without my permission.

What about Weiner’s future? A new Marist poll provides some insight. They surveyed part of his Brooklyn and Queens congressional district and found that only 32% said that he should resign. 56% said that he should not quit. Weiner has said that he has no plans to step down, as he has broken no laws.

Talk about your strange sex scandal – the one where no sex actually occurred. I guess social media really is changing everything, even the sleazy world of political scandals.

  • Anthony Weiner Admits Posting Racy Pic on Twitter

Anthony Weiner Admits Posting Racy Pic on Twitter

It looks like Weinergate has had legs from the get-go, as Congressman Anthony Weiner admitted today that he did in fact send the now famous lewd photograph of his penis to a Seattle college student on May 27th.

First reported by conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart’s website Big Government, a 21-year-old woman was the target of a public @ tweet containing a yfrog picture of a close up on an erect penis in gray boxers. The tweet was sent from the New York Congressman’s Twitter account.

The tweet was only up for a brief moment, but was captured by multiple sources. Since the tweet first appeared, the Congressman has claimed that he was hacked, and denied sending the picture. The story took an odd turn last week as he continued to deny sending to pic to the college student but could not deny that the picture was of him.

Big Government posted two more pics of Congressman Weiner earlier this morning, apparently sent to another young woman from two email accounts, one AOL and one Yahoo, respectively: One shows the congressman shirtless while the other was provocatively titled “Me and the Pussys.”

And then just an hour ago, Weiner addressed the media at a hotel in Midtown Manhattan and admitted to sending the lewd photo to the Seattle student.

“Last Friday night I tweeted a photograph of myself that I intended to send as direct message as part of a joke to a woman in Seattle. Once I realized I posted it to Twitter, I panicked, I took it down and said that I had been hacked. I then continued with that story to stick to that story which was a hugely regrettable mistake.

To be clear, the picture was of me and I sent it. I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife Huma and our family, and my constituents, my friends, supporters and staff,” Weiner said, quoted by CBS.

Weiner also said that this wasn’t the first time he has done something like this, that there exists a pattern of photo messaging:

“Over the past few years I have engaged in several inappropriate conversations conducted over Twitter, Facebook, email, and occasionally on the phone with women I have met online.”

Weiner said that he only lied to protect his wife, and that he would not be resigning because although what he did was regrettable, he hasn’t broken any laws.

  • Weinergate Not What You Think, Exactly What You Think

The tendency for everyone in this country to attach the “gate” suffix to every scandal typically annoys the hell out of me. “Gate” is not a suffix meaning scandal or controversy, it’s just part of the name of the Watergate complex. Just like “holic” isn’t a suffix that means “addicted too,” but people continue to say things like “chocoholic” and “sexaholic” much to my chagrin.

    But I digress.

In this instance, I am happy to discuss the weekend scandal being called “Weinergate.” It involves Congressman Anthony Weiner and a lewd Twitter pic of a, well, a wiener posted to his feed.

The story was first reported on conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart’s site Big Government. A tweet appeared on Democratic New York Congressman Anthony Weiner’s timeline directed @ a young woman with a link to a picture. The pic consisted of a close-up of a man in gray underwear with an erection. The tweet was quickly removed. A screen cap of the original pic is available over on Big Government.

Weiner has responded, saying that the tweet was obviously due to his account being hacked. He hints that the prank was a “distraction” in a statement obtained by Politico:

“At a time when the GOP is playing games with the debt limit, a member of the Supreme Court is refusing to recuse himself from matters he has a financial interest in, and middle class incomes are stagnant, many want to change the subject. I don’t. This was a prank, and a silly one. I’m focused on my work.”

He also joked about the incident on Twitter, but failed in differentiating Twitter from Facebook:

The person who the twitpic was addressed to has been identified as 21-year-old college student Gennette Cordova. The NY Daily News published a statement from Cordova, where she stated that she has never met Congressman Weiner and believes this all to be an unfunny prank.

The account that these tweets were sent from was familiar to me; this person had harassed me many times after the Congressman followed me on Twitter a month or so ago. Since I had dealt with this person and his cohorts before I assumed that the tweet and the picture were their latest attempts at defaming the Congressman and harassing his supporters.

Spokesmen for Congressman Weiner have said that they “retained counsel to explore the proper next steps.”

If you want to join the discussion on Twitter, #weinergate tweets are rolling in at a quick clip.

  • Obama’s Birth Certificate Release: Twitter Responds

Today, President Obama released his official Long Form Birth Certificate on WhiteHouse.gov.  Whether this move will have any impact on the Birther movement is yet to be determined.

Since the internet has been the main platform for keeping this thing going, it is only fitting that it should react strongly to this development.

Twitter has blown up over Obama’s Birth Certificate, celebrities, politicians and the common-folk alike.  Here is my roundup of the Long Form Birth Certificate Announcement Day (LFBCAD for future reference) in the Twitterverse.

The White House tweeted about the release, emphasizing that the issue is a distraction from real issues:

The Republican response was vaired, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney emphasized that this new release is a waste of time. Former VP candidate Sarah Palin and well know conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart commended Donald Trump for his media blitz regarding the issue in the last couple of weeks.
