  • Andrea Bocelli And Tori Kelly Stun Audience At The 2015 EMAs

Who would’ve thought that YouTube sensation Tori Kelly would someday perform in front of thousands of people at a popular awards show and share a stage with acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli?

The young singer-songwriter, who slowly rose to fame after posting numerous singing videos on YouTube, brought the house down at the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards or EMAs. The annual event was held on October 25th at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan.

Kelly appeared on stage in an all-gold number and proceeded to perform her hit song, “Should’ve Been Us,” the second single off her debut album, Unbreakable Smile.

At the bridge of the song, however, the audience was treated to a surprise when Kelly suddenly launched into a ‘90s medley of sorts – starting off with TLC’s female anthem, “No Scrubs” and following up with the Fugees hit, “Ready Or Not.”

Kelly wrapped up her performance beautifully by going back to her own song and bowing to the pumped up crowd. As if her song number wasn’t enough to showcase her vocal prowess, Kelly turned over the spotlight to the Italian classical singer, who belted out his own song, “Por Ti Volare.” After Bocelli’s aria, he and Kelly did a duet, performing the 2013 hit “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess.

The unlikely pairing yielded a unique rendition of the popular song, which garnered loud applause from the audience and a standing ovation, no less.

Kelly is not the first pop singer that Bocelli has collaborated with. He has released songs and albums with such singers as Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, and Celine Dion to name a few.

Bocelli is returning to Tampa, Florida for a third time to hold a major concert early next year with soprano Maria Aleida and conductor Eugene Kohn, who will be leading the Bella Musica Orchestra.

  • Andrea Bocelli To Perform For The Pope

Andrea Bocelli and Juanes are scheduled to perform for Pope Francis on September 26th.

The event will take place at the World Meeting of Families in Philidelphia where Andrea Bocelli will be a main performer.

Andrea Bocelli and Juanes will be performing with the Philidelphia Orchestra.

The Pope will be attending the World Meeting of Families during his first trip to the United States since the beginning of his papacy.

Juanes said of the event, “Our most important mission in this voyage of life is learning how to love, and what better way to do it than through family.”

He added, “I’m deeply honored to sing for Pope Francis.”

The World Meeting of Families is meant to strengthen family bonds on a global scale.

Executive director Donna Crilley Farrell said that she wanted to “bring together performers that represented the world.”

Andrea Bocelli certainly fits that bill.

Last year, Andrea Bocelli received a lifetime achievement honor at the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards. He is one of the best-selling singers in history.

Andrea Bocelli has been incredibly prolific in his long career. He has made 14 studio albums, three greatest hits recordings, and nine complete operas.

Andrea Bocelli has sold over 80 million albums worldwide.

This will be far from the first time that Andrea Bocelli has performed for someone of stature. In fact, he has already performed for two popes. He has also performed for four U.S. presidents, the British royal family, the Olympics and the World Cup.

    What an amazing career!

What do you think of Andrea Bocelli’s upcoming performance for Pope Francis?

  • Andrea Bocelli, Juanes To Perform For Pope Francis In Philadelphia

Alongside Colombian pop star Juanes and the Philadelphia Orchestra, Italian classical tenor Andrea Bocelli will be singing for Pope Francis in Philadelphia this September during his US visit.

On Tuesday, the World Meeting of Families confirmed the highly-regarded tenor’s upcoming performance. Bocelli is going to sing as one of the first three musical acts for the Festival of Families on Saturday, September 26.

Bocelli was born with poor eyesight then became blind at the age of 12 following a football accident.

He has gone on to sell over 80 million albums worldwide and was given a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2014, Bocelli also received Billboard’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

“To have Andrea Bocelli, one of the world’s great vocalists, and Juanes, one of the most popular performers in all of Latin America, come to Philadelphia for the Festival of Families is an extraordinary gift,” Donna Crilley Farrell, Executive Director for the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015, said in a statement.

“And to be able to have these incredible individuals perform with our hometown jewel in The Philadelphia Orchestra brings this event together in spectacular fashion,” Farrel added. “Without a doubt, these performances will not only capture the hearts and imaginations of the thousands who will watch them live on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway but also the millions around the world who will watch on television and online.”

The Philadelphia Orchestra, led by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, will also perform the liturgical music during the public Mass on Sunday, September 27.

Apart from Bocelli, more high-profile acts are expected to be announced for the event within the coming weeks.

The recent announcement came as Mayor Michael Nutter, conference organizers, city leaders and other delegates went to Rome, Italy to finalize plans and logistics for the upcoming papal visit.

  • Andrea Bocelli, Juanes to Join Philadelphia Orchestra in Performance for Pope Francis

Andrea Bocelli and Juanes will join the Philadelphia Orchestra in performing for Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia in September. The pope is traveling to the U.S. to attend the World Meeting of Families there on September 26th. This will mark the first time Pope Francis has visited the U.S. during his papacy.

The World Meeting of Families is an event held every three years. Its aim is to strengthen family bonds globally. In choosing who would perform at the Festival, the notion was to “bring together performers that represented the world,” executive director Donna Crilley Farrell said.

Andrea Bocelli, an Italian tenor, and Juanes, a Colombian pop singer, are no doubt both thrilled and honored to have been asked to sing.

“Our most important mission in this voyage of life is learning how to love, and what better way to do it than through family,” Juanes said. “I’m deeply honored to sing for Pope Francis.”

Juanes and Andrea Bocelli join a very small list of singers who have performed for popes in recent history. Gloria Stefan sang for Pope John Paul II in 1995, Argentina’s Diego Torres performed for the same pope in 2003, and Mexico’s Lucero also sang for Pope John II in 1997.

Argentinian soap opera star Martina Sotessel sang for Pope Francis in Rome just last year.

It is uncertain how Andrea Bocelli and Juanes were chosen, but it is definitely a huge honor to be asked to sing for a pope.

Surely their performances for Pope Francis will be televised and/or recorded for all to see and hear.

  • Andrea Bocelli Talks Opera and Fatherhood

Andrea Bocelli Talks Opera and Fatherhood

Andrea Bocelli can’t get away from singing opera, even when he’s in the role of ‘Dad.’ The 56-year-old says even when he’s singing his two-year-old daughter Virginia a lullaby, she prefers opera.

“My daughter … likes every kind of music, but in particular there is a song that she loves very much, ‘Funiculi Funicula,’” Bocelli said of the Neapolitan song, which he is known for performing at live shows. “She wants that I sing (it) for her always.”

The singer and longtime partner Veronica Berti tied the knot earlier this year, on their daughter’s second birthday.

Andrea Bocelli has been touring Europe, and launched a short U.S. tour on Saturday. His first performance was at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The tour will take him to Houston, Texas; Dallas; Chicago; and Detroit, with his last stop at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 17th.

If you’re unable to catch Andrea Bocelli on one of these stops, rest assured, he will be back in the U.S. in 2015. He will perform three shows at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida in February. He also has a concert planned at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 7th, as well as other shows.

Andrea Bocelli is heard on pianist Jan Mulder’s new album, “Christmas,” and is promoting his own album, “Opera–the Ultimate Collection.” On it fans will hear a recording of Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut,” with an accompaniment by Ana Maria Martinez.

“I loved this opera since when I was a child,” Bocelli said of “Manon Lescaut.”

Do you suppose little Virginia has Daddy sing excerpts from this to lull her to sleep at night?

  • George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin: New Wedding Details

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are nearing their wedding day, and George’s pal Rande Gerber (husband of Cindy Crawford) has made his contribution to the big day in the form of fifty cases of tequila. It seems Gerber sent a private plane filled with Casamigos Tequila–one of his beverages of choice from the company he and George Clooney founded together.

E! reports that while no one has confirmed the facts, all speculation strongly hints at George Clooney and Amal Alamudding tying the knot in Italy.

Corriere della Sera reported a while back that the wedding celebration will take place over three days. They report that George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin will be married by Walter Vetroni–a close friend of both from Calfornia.

Rumors include a performance by Lana Del Ray and that Andrea Bocelli will serenade the happy couple once they exchange their wedding vows.

MSN reports that Amal Alamuddin’s family–who is said to be a bit old-fashioned with regard to wedding etiquette–is footing most of the bill for her wedding to George Clooney.

Per this mode of etiquette, Amal’s family had their say as to when their daughter would marry the movie star. They wanted the wedding to be held this fall.

“They expect a short engagement,” a source told Us Weekly.

It seems quite likely–in light of the delivery of a plane full of booze–that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford will no doubt be among those guests that fly to Italy (at least that’s where the wedding is assumed to be taking place) for the nuptials.

Who else do you expect to learn will have attended George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding? And do you expect to hear that the nuptials will be held or have taken place in the very near future?
