  • Brooke Shields Holds No Malice Toward Tom Cruise, Sort-Of Slams Ex-Husband Andre Agassi

Brooke Shields opened up recently about her past issue with Tom Cruise, regarding their public feud over her endorsement of prescription drugs for the treatment of postpartum depression.

It was during a chat with Jenny McCarthy on her SiriusXM radio show that she admitted to holding no malice toward the actor heavily rooted in the Church of Scientology. In fact, she and husband Chris Henchy attended Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes. Brooke Shields got lots of flack for doing so, however.

“Life is too short,” she told McCarthy of the old feud. “I’m sure there are people that have strong, negative opinions about me, but I don’t have the time.”

She also spoke of Tom Cruise’s apology to her.

“He came over to my house. It was funny because when he called me, he said, ‘I’d like to have a sit-down and a talk with you.’ I called my publicist, and I said, ‘OK, what do I do?’ She said, ‘Whatever you do, don’t go over there. Just make them come to you, and it’s on your terms. You don’t have cameras, you don’t know,’ ”Brooke Shields recalled, referring to the rumors about Tom Cruise’s controversial Scientology ties. “So he came over to the house and didn’t come with anybody, drove himself, there wasn’t anybody outside.”

Later, Katie Holmes personally invited Brooke Shields to their wedding.

These days Brooke is far more upset with ex-husband Andre Agassi’s publisher than she is with Tom Cruise. On Thursday, she appeared on Watch What Happens Live!, when the subject of Agassi’s new book, Open: An Autobiography came up. A caller asked Shields what she thought of the book, and she was very honest.

“Oh, I only read the parts I was in,” she said. “I was asked to read it by him so that I could correct things that I believed were not correct, because he told me his memory was not that good. So he called me in and I spent five hours with his ghostwriter.”

Brooke Shields, who graduated with a degree from Princeton, added, “I write my own books, FYI. Anyway!”

She then went on to explain how she made the needed corrections to Andre Agassi’s book, only to find when it was published that none of her tweaks were recognized.

“I corrected things that were not as I remembered them chronologically. I have diaries of everything,” she explained. “Then I got a letter back that said, ‘I’m so sorry I couldn’t change anything because it wasn’t how I remembered it.’ It’s the oldest trick in the book and I just didn’t get it.”

On the upside, however, Agassi didn’t depict Brooke Shields negatively.

“With all due respect, I did not come across as badly as people might have thought that he wanted,” she said. “That’s not who he is. He’s not an evil person.”

Brooke Shields certainly seems to have a very forgiving heart. Not only did she forgive Tom Cruise’s tactless public comment about postpartum medication, she also speaks very kindly of her ex-husband.

Would you have had such grace under both of these situations?

  • Brooke Shields Talks Agassi’s Trophy Smashing Fit

In her soon to be released memoir There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me, actress Brooke Shields writes about her failed marriage to tennis icon Andre Agassi, and alleges he has a jealousy complex.

Shields, 49, goes on the mention an instance in which Agassi, 44, smashed his Wimbledon trophy after the actress made an appearance on the sitcom Friends. Shields played an obsessed fan of Matt LeBlanc’s character “Joey,” and licked his hand in one scene. Agassi, who was on set in Los Angeles during the time the scene was being filmed, did not take too kindly to it, and took off in his car and drove to Las Vegas, before going into a trophy smashing fury.

“Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, never mind all the others,” Shields recalled. The actress added that Agassi had mentioned to her that she “made him look like a fool.”

Included in the rampage were Agassi’s 1992 Wimbledon and 1994 U.S. Open trophies.

Here Shields’ “Erica” licks LeBlanc’s hand:

Here is Agassi displaying advanced tennis fashion:

Agassi, widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players in history, went on to win six more Grand Slams, including another U.S. Open in 1999, though broke his only Wimbledon trophy he would ever receive.

Shields and Agassi got married in 1997, but were divorced in 1999.

Shields made headlines in 2005, after relating her struggles with postpartum depression to Oprah Winfrey, and how seeing a psychiatrist helped her through her struggle. High-ranking Scientological master Tom Cruise promptly chimed in on The Today Show to school Matt Lauer on the entire history of useless psychiatry, and calls the host “glib.”

    Never gets old:

Shields, who has two daughters with husband Chris Henchy, was most recently seen on The Michael J. Fox Show, and is the spokesperson for Tupperware’s Chain of Confidence SMART Girls initiative, a program that teaches girls to nurture their mental and physical well-being.

  • Brooke Shields Reveals Andre Agassi Destroyed Wimbledon Trophy In A Fit of Rage

Brooke Shields has written a memoir called There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of Mother and Me. In the memoir, Shields talks candidly about her personal life as well as her relationships including her troubled marriage with tennis pro Andre Agassi. Quotes from the memoir were published in the US magazine Globe. One part in particular talks about an incident in 1995 when Shields appeared in the TV show FRIENDS as a stalker obsessed with Matt le Blanc’s character Joey.

According to the memoir, Andre Agassi was in a jealous fit of rage after the scene where Shield’s character had to lick Joey’s fingers. Agassi was in the soundstage while Shields and le Blanc shot the scene. He reportedly stormed off and drove for four hours back to his home in Las Vegas. “Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open,” Shields wrote. The actress also revealed that it took her three years to replace the destroyed trophies.

Despite the incident, Shields and Agassi were married in 1997. However, the couple divorced less than two years later. Shields talked at length about the short-lived marriage, and revealed that she knew that she had “made a mistake”. “I could not form a sentence. I kept shaking my head as if I had duct tape across my mouth. It hit me all of a sudden … I did not want to be married,” she wrote in the memoir.

According to Shields, it wasn’t until they were into the marriage that Agassi revealed to her that he was addicted to crystal meth. “I was shocked but immediately got hurt and insulted that he had not come to me at the time,” she wrote.

Shields got remarried in 2001 to television writer Chris Henchy. The couple have two children together.

    I can’t believe it’s done. In stores November 18!

  • Brooke Shields Says Ex-Husband, Andre Agassi, Flew Into Rage Over Finger-Licking Scene With Matt LeBlanc

Brooke Shields has shared some surprising details of events from her relationship with former husband Andre Agassi in a new memoir.

The Suddenly Susan actress claims in her memoir, There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story Of Mother And Me, that ex-husband Andre Agassi was so enraged when she licked the fingers of Matt LeBlanc for a guest appearance on Friends that he destroyed his entire trophy collection, including his US Open and Wimbledon cups.

Remember the scene? It’s the one about a stalker (Shields) who believes Joey (LeBlanc) is actually Doctor Drake Ramoray. During the dinner scene, Brookes’ character Erica licks the fingers of LeBlanc and then cackles like a true creeper.

According to Shields in her memoir, Agassi was watching the scene unfold on the sound stage, flew into a rage and claimed Shields had “made him look a fool.”

Agassi allegedly jumped into his car and went home to take out his frustration on his trophies.

“Upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others,” she wrote.

Shields and Agassi were married two years later, despite the red-flag incident. In her memoir, she calls the marriage a “mistake” and recalls how she had doubts even on the day she became Mrs. Agassi.

“I could not form a sentence,” wrote Brooke. “I kept shaking my head as if I had duct tape across my mouth. It hit me all of a sudden — I knew I had made a mistake. I did not want to be married … I wanted to be a bride but I shouldn’t have been married yet.”

It seems the former couple agree that the wedding day and two-year marriage was a mistake. Agassi said in his own autobiography, Open, that he felt the same misgivings on his wedding day to Shields.

“I have a thought no man should have on his wedding day: I wish I were leaving too. I wish I had a decoy groom to take my place,” he wrote.

Well, the good news is things seemed to have worked out well for both of them. Shields is now married to Chris Henchy, with whom she has two daughters, 10-year-old Rowan and seven-year-old Grier. As for Agassi, he is happily married to tennis great Steffi Graf, with whom he has a son, Jaden Gil, and a daughter, Jaz Elle.
