  • American Psycho Series Being Developed At FX

American Psycho wasn’t for everyone, but you can’t argue that it is a cult classic… but does it really need to be a television series?

It’s being reported that FX is developing a series that will act as the direct sequel to American Psycho. If you’re wondering about that Mila Kunis sequel, well like everyone else they’re acting as if it never happened. The series will supposedly focus on Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman, with some minor changes to the setting of the story.

“The drama series fast forwards from the late 1980s, when the movie was set, to present day. It will feature serial killer Patrick Bateman, now in his mid-50’s but as outrageous and lethal as ever, taking on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal — a next generation American Psycho.”

With series like Hannibal and Bates Motel doing well, it only makes sense for FX to scoop up American Psycho and try to take it to series.

Below you can view some of the more memorable scenes from the movie (viewer discretion is advised):

  • Huey Lewis Goes Patrick Bateman On Weird Al

If you’re a fan of American Psycho, Huey Lewis and/or Weird Al, than this video is for you. Funny or Die put out this pretty great parody of the film’s iconic Huey Lewis scene, cleverly putting Huey in the Patrick Bateman role, discussing the film’s context and Christian Bale’s performance in the manner that Bale discussed Huey and his work. Weird Al does a fine job in the Paul Allen role as well.

  • Patrick Bateman Is Envious of Coworkers’ Pokemon Cards

As the story goes, Lionsgate had geared up to release a 10th anniversary Blu-Ray edition of the new classic American Psycho, complete with a deleted scene that shows how the filmmakers tried to make the film appeal to a younger audience. Apparently, that project never made it. But luckily, the deleted scene survived.

Ok, none of that really happened. But this clever parody takes one of the the best scenes from the film and makes a couple crucial changes. Remember when Patrick Bateman kept getting one-upped by everyone else’s business cards? Yeah, just replace “business” with “Pokemon” and there you go.

    Enjoy.

  • Bret Easton Ellis Muses on an American Psycho Sequel on Twitter

There are a lot of smart, funny, and insightful celebrities to follow on Twitter. That’s what makes it fun, right? Nobody really cares what their friends are tweeting about – it’s all about finding a window into the minds of those you admire, those who have created your favorite books, movies, art, etc.

Early this morning, American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis took to Twitter to muse on a possible sequel to his controversial 1991 novel. He starts off by mentioning that he’s been thinking about the novel’s main character Patrick Bateman (played by Christian Bale in the film adaptation) a lot lately.

And then things take an interesting and gory turn. Although it doesn’t seem like he’s that into it at the moment, it makes for compelling stuff. Only on Twitter, folks:

Eighties music and homicide. Sounds familiar.

Ellis is the man behind The Canyons, the new-noir thriller set in Los Angeles and starring Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen. You can check out the trailer here. It’s slated for a 2013 release.
