Christian Bale has bailed on the film Enzo Ferrari. The biopic of the auto magnate required a sizable weight gain, and Bale didn’t believe he had time to gain the weight safely before production was set to begin.
This certainly wouldn’t have been the first time Christian Bale was required to gain or lose a significant amount of weight for a film role.
Christian Bale gained 43 pounds for his role in American Hustle. On the opposite end of the spectrum, he lost 62 pounds for his role in The Machinist, subsisting on black coffee, an apple, and one can of tuna fish per day.
“It is because he made radical transformations in the past for roles such as The Machinist and American Hustle and began the weight gain process for Ferrari he felt necessary, but couldn’t safely be ready in time for Spring, 2016,” a source tells E! News of the reason Bale dropped out of this film.
Enzo Ferrari is set to begin filming in the spring. It is based on the biography written by Brock Yates that follows the automaker throughout his 90 years, covering both his passion and his life story.

Michelle Ercanbrack is a family historian at the very popular Ancestry.com. She says this discovery that Lawrence and Renner are related happened completely by chance.
“The discovery of the connection between Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner was complete happenstance,” she explains in a recent interview with People magazine, going on to say that researchers were checking out all of the cast members of The Hunger Games, expecting their might be a connection between Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson because they both have “deep Kentucky roots.”
Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson didn’t share any roots, but when later researching Jeremy Renner, they recognized something.
“Later, we were researching Jeremy Renner and noticed he had a Tague family line from Kentucky, which looked familiar. Once we realized Jennifer Lawrence had the same family in her tree, finding the relationship between the two was not only quick, it was really close,” Ercanbrack says.
She adds it was shocking how closely Renner and Lawrence are related.
“With how closely Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner are related, we’re surprised they haven’t bumped into each other at a family reunion,” she joked.
In addition to their acting roots, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner share a wealth of similarities.
“The similarities between the two are striking: both have deep Kentucky roots, both are parts of wildly successful franchises, and both play family-oriented, freedom-fighting archers,” Ercanbrack says.
There’s been no word yet on how Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner feel about learning they’re related. Knowing Jennifer Lawrence’s kind of humor, she’ll likely invite herself to join his family at Christmas. Just imagine the fun they’d all have if that were to happen.

Jennifer Lawrence is dismissing rumors that she engaged in a screaming match with American Hustle director David O. Russell on the set of his next film, Joy.
“I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey,” said Jennifer Lawrence about the reports.
Jennifer Lawrence has worked with David O. Russell on Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, for which she was nominated for one and won an oscar for the other. Rumors that she is feuding with the director has forced her to take an unprecedented approach for the actress — take to Facebook to discount the rumors.
On Thursday, TMZ reported that an eyewitness alleged that the director screamed at his star in an argument on Tuesday.
There is some precedent for the rumors. Russell does have a reputation for being aggressive with his actors.
One famous video shows the director screaming at Lily Tomlin on the set of the 2004 film I Heart Huckabees, and Russell and his Three Kings star George Clooney have gone a few rounds in the press and even engaged in a physical altercation on set.
And while there may have been a skirmish between Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russel, the actress is the most bankable star on the planet and has been influential in Russell’s resurgence in Hollywood, so their relationship is one worth salvaging and protecting.

Charlize Theron took a stand following the recent Sony hacking scandal, against women’s pay in Hollywood. The result is a more than $10 million pay day for the actress for her upcoming prequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. Theron will be paid the same as her male costar Chris Hemsworth.
The Sony hacking scandal revealed that many of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses still aren’t paid as much as their male counterparts. Charlize Theron simply wasn’t having it. She negotiated via her agents and her work paid off.
“Charlize insisted that she get paid the same money as Chris. She has a great track record, so she got the same deal,” a source told Page Six.
“One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios,” another source said.
Both Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron are reprising their roles of huntsman Eric and evil queen Ravenna in The Huntsman. The film, which is directed by Frank Darabont, is in pre-production and will hit the big screen in April 2016.
During the Sony hacking scandal, emails from Sony revealed that both Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were paid less for their roles in American Hustle than their male costars, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper. Charlize Theron is no doubt glad that proverbial cat was let out of its bag. She’s now banking a cool $10 million-plus for her next film, and has likely paved the way for equal pay for her female counterparts.

She served as spokesperson for the United Nations’ Stop Rape Now program and PETA’s anti-fur campaigns, and has been quoted as saying that she won’t get married until everyone in America enjoys equal rights for marriage. Some sources are reporting she is engaged to Sean Penn, so its uncertain how long she’ll hold out on that cause.

Bradley Cooper reportedly dashed the romantic hopes of Taylor Swift last year, when Swift allegedly sought out a relationship with the American Hustle hottie. Cooper dished about the romance rumor this week while he was a guest on the Howard Stern Show.
“It’s complete horse-s–t,” Bradley Cooper told Howard Stern. “I never got a call. Nothing.”
Stern couldn’t just let it go at that, of course. He went on to pressure Bradley Cooper into visualizing a romance with the “Blank Space” singer. He then described the two as an up and coming “power couple.”
Bradley Cooper insisted that no, he didn’t see himself in a relationship with Taylor Swift, but made the mistake of asking Howard Stern why he saw the two as the next “power couple.”
“I can tell physically you would make beautiful children together,” Stern replied.
Cooper also told Stern that contrary to popular belief, women don’t throw themselves at him when he is out on the town. Howard Stern didn’t believe this at all.
Bradley Cooper is dating Suki Waterhouse, but the couple keeps a very low public profile. In fact, they haven’t been seen out in public together since some time back in November.
Cooper has opened up in the past about wanting to settle down, but there’s been no mention of Waterhouse being the one.
“I’m sorry my father won’t be around to see his grandchildren, but he knows fatherhood was something I was looking forward to,” he shared. “That’s my next big step in life.”

Amy Adams’ appearance on the Today show was cancelled Monday after she refused to discuss the North Korean hack of Sony and the consequent fallout.
Adams was scheduled to appear on the morning show to promote her role in Tim Burton’s new film Big Eyes, but producers pulled the plug on the segment after the actress said she wasn’t willing to answer questions pertaining to the Sony hack.
“As a news program, the Today show doesn’t allow guests to put restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made, and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview,” a Today spokesman told The Hollywood Reporter.
Today likely wanted Adams to respond to questions about the revelation that surfaced through hacked emails that she and her American Hustle co-star Jennifer Lawrence were paid less than their male counterparts in the Academy-Award nominated film.
The studio that produced the film, the Weinstein Company, supported the actress’ decision to remain tight-lipped about the Sony hack and said her opinion should be respected.
“We firmly stand behind Amy Adams. We’ve been lucky enough to have had her talents grace several of our films. We are certain her fellow actors and directors would all agree, she is nothing but the consummate professional both on and off set,” they told Just Jared. “Amy decided to speak up for herself and express her disappointment that Today would feel the need to ask her a question she did not feel comfortable , and rather than respect her opinion or continue the discussion, the reaction was to pull her appearance from the show.”
Compared to their male counterparts, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams sure got the short end of the stick when it comes to getting paid for American Hustle.
The Sony e-mail leaks continue to reveal new behind-the-scenes goings-on in Hollywood, and the fallout is not pretty.
The latest slew of e-mails — presumed to have been leaked out of North Korea in retaliation for the less-than-flattering portrayal of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco — reveal that Adams and the Hunger Games actress were paid considerably less than their male co-stars on American Hustle.
According to Page Six, “the e-mails detail the ‘points’ — or back-end payments — that each of the actors in American Hustle would be receiving, and Lawrence and fellow female star Amy Adams were arguably getting hustled.”
The Daily Beast revealed Friday that Lawrence and Adams received seven percent, while director David O. Russell and male co-stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale and Jeremy Renner received nine percent.
Andrew Gumpert, president of business affairs for Sony’s Columbia Pictures, said in a Dec. 5, 2013 e-mail that he got a “rush call” complaining that the men were getting more than the female stars.
The email says: “Got a Steve Warren/Gretchen rush call that it’s unfair the male actors get 9 percent in the pool and Jennifer is only at 7pts (percentage points).
“You may recall Jennifer was at 5 (Amy was and is at 7) and WE anted in 2 extra points for Jennifer to get her up to 7. If anyone needs to top Jennifer up its Megan (Ellison from Annapurna Pictures, which co-financed American Hustle).
“BUT I think Amy and Jennifer are tied so upping JL, ups AA.”
This is just the latest in several stories coming out of Hollywood about ticked-off celebrities, who are hearing of details they may have never wanted to know about how they are perceived, talked about and treated by executives in the film industry. And it’s likely not the last.
You have to have been living under a rock to have not heard about the exchange between Sony Pictures Co-Chairman Amy Pascal and Brian Helgeland, the screenwriter for Angelina Jolie’s project, Cleopatra, in which Pascal suggests Helgeland dump Jolie in favor of Lawrence, calling the Unbroken actress a “minimally talented spoiled brat.”

And even though there is as yet no release date for the film in the U.S., a new trailer has been released featuring the Silver Linings Playbook duo back in action together. According to the L.A. Times, Serena is a Depression-era drama. It tells the tale of a North Carolina timber baron (Bradley Cooper) and his enterprising new wife (Jennifer Lawrence), who doesn’t take kindly to finding out that her husband has a son from a previous relationship. The twists and turns in the plot even include murder.
Work on Serena actually started way back in 2012, long before Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper thrilled movie goers with Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, and before she was the internationally renown Hunger Games star in her role as Katniss Everdeen.
Serena’s content may be a bit heavy for U.S. theaters, so it isn’t set to open here until some time next year. It will be interesting to see if the U.S. version deviates in any way from the one released in London. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence will premiere on the big screen in London on October 24th, however. It will be fun to learn if the British reviews give the pair a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Some speculate the subject matter might simply be too dark for U.S. audiences.
Serena tells the tale of a lumber baron–played by Bradley Cooper–with Jennifer Lawrence in the role of his strong-willed wife. Lawrence runs the business along side her husband and the two get along famously until she learns she cannot bear him a child. Derailing into a bit of a mentally ill abyss, Lawrence’s character decides to kill her husband’s ex-wife and take his child to raise as her own.
The film was to star Angelina Jolie, but she dropped out. Jennifer Lawrence won the role and suggested Bradley Cooper for the role of her husband. The two shot the film between March and May of 2012.
In addition to the dark material featured in Serena, the filming took place in Prague against a backdrop of aircraft noise. This required a lot of dubbing. Jennifer Lawrence was too expensive to hire for a day’s worth of filming for the dubbing, thus further delaying the release of the film.
Fans of Jennifer Lawrence would no doubt love to see her on the big screen playing opposite Bradley Cooper once again. And since the dynamic is completely different in Serena than in Sliver Linings Playbook, all stereotypes would likely be shot down right away.
It will be interesting to learn what becomes of Serena–and to find out whether or not Jennifer Lawrence winds up winning awards for her role in the film that may not even make it to U.S. theaters.

Amy Adams did something she had long wanted to do this past week. She gave up her seat in first class on a flight from Detroit to L.A. to a soldier. Accounts of her generous gesture are making their rounds on social media and in news reports across the internet.
Word of the American Hustle star’s act of kindness was initially spread by an ESPN personality. Jemele Hill, co-host of Numbers Never Lie, was on the same flight as Amy and saw the actress’s giving heart in action.
“When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier’s way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with,” Hill explains. “Before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat.”
Hill was the first person to tweet about Amy Adams and the first class soldier, and that tweet has now gone viral.

Jennifer Lawrence is presently busy filming parts one and two of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay . Her role as Katniss Everdeen is really what launched her career, taking her from smaller roles to starring in A-list films.
Some may question how interesting or exciting a film about a woman who invented a mop might be, however if David O. Russell is directing and he has signed someone as sought after as Jennifer Lawrence for the leading role then the story must be well worth telling. Lawrence is clearly a very diverse actress who doesn’t disappoint.
In a move which proves that Hollywood is absolutely obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence and that they believe anyone will watch anything as long as she is starring in it, director David Russell has signed The Hunger Games actress to star in his new biopic, Joy.
Joy portrays the story of Joy Mangano, a Long Island housewife turned inventor and Home Shopping Network mogul. Mangano began her entrepreneurship through the creation of a fluorescent flea collar while volunteering at an animal clinic. Unfortunately for Mangano, Hartz released a similar product soon after, leading Mangano to vow that she would take her next invention to market as soon as she could.
That invention became the Miracle Mop – a mop with interlocking handles which would allow one to wring water out of the mop without dirtying one’s hands. Since the mop hit shelves in 1990, it has sold over five million units. The mop-selling business was not always so lucrative, however. Mangano began by selling the mops locally, and hit her big break when she sold the 10,000 mops to QVC. While sales of the mop were stagnant at first, it was Mangano’s spirit which led to record-breaking sales of the mops: ”I asked them to let me go on the air and demonstrate it myself. I knew I could sell it if I could show people what I had in mind when I designed it and how well it really worked,” Mangano recalled. Her pitch turned out better than anyone could have expected, with QVC selling 18,000 mops in 20 minutes.

Now, Mangano is the president of Ingenious Designs, Inc., which is now owned by USA Networks and the Home Shopping Network, upon which one can often find Mangano selling her inventions.
While Mangano’s story seems to be the typical, heart-warming rags-to-riches story, it may violate many Hollywood expectations when it hits theaters on Christmas Day next year. David Russell, Oscar-nominated director of The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, will direct Lawrence for his third time, while the script will be written by Annie Mumolo, co-writer of the comedy Bridesmaids.
For Lawrence, the decision to play the part of Joy Mangano in Russell’s newest film was a no brainer. Lawrence has worked with Russell on both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, winning the Best Actress Oscar for the former and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for the latter. On Good Morning America, Lawrence expressed how simple the decision was:
He recently texted me at, I think, 4 in the morning, and was like, ‘I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?’ And I was like, yeah… I could just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, ‘Yeah, that’s my next screenplay.’
The combination of Russell and Lawrence is seemingly undefeatable at the box office, but producer Fox has chosen a competitive weekend on which to release the film, with Kung Fu Panda 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 opening on the same date (and only one week after Star Wars Episode VII). However, if all goes as expected, one can expect to see Lawrence and Russell racking up the Oscars once again.

The men’s magazine FHM released their annual list, and the Oscar-winner has won the title because, according to the magazine, she is “so freaking cool”.
In addition to her obvious talent and natural beauty, FHM notes the Hunger Games actress’s new short do – which is being copied by sweet young things world-wide – and her photo-bomb during Taylor Swift’s interview with Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes.
“The past 12 months have seen Jennifer’s career rocket off into the stratosphere,” the magazine wrote about theAmerican Hustleactress.
British actress Michelle Keegan – who stars in Coronation Street – came in second, although she was named “sexiest woman in the UK” by the magazine.
“I’m totally taken back by this, it really does mean a lot,” said Keegan in a statement. “Thank you so much to the readers of FHM and everyone who took the time and voted for me, I’m so flattered. I believe that being ‘sexy’ isn’t wearing lots of heavy make-up or having the perfect hair or figure, it’s about self confidence, being comfortable with yourself, smiling and being happy!”

Amy Adams is in early talks for a role in Dennis Villeneuve’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Story of Your Life. The American Hustle star is in line for the role of an expert linguist hired by the military to determine whether aliens who have recently invaded the world are peaceful beings or if they present a grave danger to life on earth instead. As she becomes accustomed to communicating with the aliens she experiences unusual flashbacks that are apparently key to understanding why the aliens have landed all around the world.
Villeneuve recently spoke about the film, saying he hopes it will tell an “inspiring” tale.
“It’s very poetic, and a strong take on an alien landing on Earth. It’s very original, very fresh and very inspiring,” he added. ”I’m very excited about that project. I’m supposed to shoot it at the beginning of 2015.”
This is very different from the past roles Amy Adams has played. In addition to American Hustle, she has starred in The Fighter, Man of Steel, and Her–to name just a few.
Story of Your Life is based on a Nebula Award-winning short story by Ted Chiang. And given its sci-fi aspects, it’s not just new to Amy Adams, but to the film’s director, too. Dennis Villenueve lacks experience in the genre as well. He is best known for last year’s film Prisoners, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman.
It’s always interesting when both directors and actors go out on one of those proverbial limbs and try something vastly different from what they are accustomed to doing. Sometimes it can result in something amazing when translated to the big screen.
Amy Adams is a versatile, incredibly talented actress. Some of that versatility–and her innate sense of humor–shines through in a recent interview she did for Vanity Fair.
Lots of what Amy Adams does on the big screen results in multi-media coverage. It is likely expected that Story of Your Life will be no different.
Bradley Cooper has proven a notion believed by comedian Louis C.K. to be completely wrong. The American Hustle star isn’t gloating, however, and he really had no hand in making that proof public. It just goes to show that evidence on the internet never, ever goes away.
Here’s the scoop. Louis C.K. remarked during an interview back in 2008 that whenever an acting student in the audience during Inside the Actor’s Studio asks a famous actor a question, that’s when you know that student will fail. Louis C.K. specifically cited Sean Penn when he made his comments, too.
“You know it always occurs to me, when you have an actress stands up during, one of the people in the audience and says ‘I’m an actor, what can I do, and asks Sean Penn or whoever. What can I do to reach your level, or whatever,’” the 46-year-old said. “And you just want to say, ‘that’s it. You never will be famous. You’ll never be famous. There’s no way you asked Sean Penn a question and then you’re gonna be huge.’”
Well, Sean Penn visited Inside the Actor’s Studio back in 1999, and guess who was in the audience?
That’s right. It was Bradley Cooper. And Cooper asked Penn a question about Hurlyburly–a film Sean Penn starred in the year before.
Louis C.K. certainly didn’t set out to deliberately diss Bradley Cooper–but it’s kind of funny how this all turned out.
Note to famous comedians: Be very careful when you switch from funny lines to seemingly calculated speculation. Thanks to the internet, it just might come back to bite you in the butt.
