  • AMC CEO Wants His Pay Frozen in 2023

AMC CEO Wants His Pay Frozen in 2023

AMC CEO Adam Aron wants his company’s board of directors to freeze his pay in 2023 over concerns for shareholders.

With an economic downturn, many companies are looking for ways to cut costs and reduce expenses. Many have turned to layoffs as a prime way to accomplish those goals. AMC’s Aron has a different idea, however, calling on his board to freeze his pay for 2023.

Aron also asked his company’s top executives to follow his lead.

Aron made clear he believes that what he is doing, and asking his management team to do, is the right course of action.

Aron’s take is a refreshing change from the stand many CEOs take.

  • SEC Closes Investigation Into GameStop Stock Fiasco

The SEC has investigated so called “meme stocks,” such as GameStop’s epic run, ultimately deciding there was no wrongdoing.

GameStop made headlines early this year when its stock skyrocketed. The frenzy was driven by investors on Reddit pumping the stock. AMC, Blackberry and Bed Bath & Beyond also saw their stocks driven up, thanks to individual stock traders. The phenomenon cost Wall Street who had shorted the stocks billions of dollars.

The SEC investigation, however, has proven the buying frenzy was driven by individual investors, meaning there was nothing illegal about the trend…no matter how strange it may have been.

“January’s events gave us an opportunity to consider how we can further our efforts to make the equity markets as fair, orderly, and efficient as possible,” said SEC Chair Gary Gensler. “Making markets work for everyday investors gets to the heart of the SEC’s mission. I would like to thank the staff for bringing their expertise to this important report, and for their ongoing work on to address the issues that January’s events raised.”

    AMC Theatres Will Accept Dogecoin

AMC Theatres has announced it will start accepting Dogecoin, alongside Bitcoin, by the end of the year.

AMC announced in August that it would begin accepting Bitcoin by the end of the year. A month later, the company announced it would expand its support to other cryptocurrencies.

According to TheStreet, AMC will accept Dogecoin via BitPay. Customers will be able to purchase up to $200 worth of gift cards per day, gift cards that can be used online or in-person.

  • Reddit’s WallStreetBets Schools Wall Street

    Reddit’s WallStreetBets Schools Wall Street

Wall Street may be the “experts” in the stock market, but analysts are increasingly looking to Reddit’s WallStreetBets for info.

Reddit’s WallStreetBets upended the stock market when individual traders rallied around stocks that mainstream Wall Street institutions were shorting. GameStop, Blackberry, AMC and Bed and Bath and Beyond saw massive gains after they were shorted, ultimately costingWall Street tens of billions.

It appears Wall Street has taken notice, and is now looking to WallStreetBets, and other social media platforms, for tips and info, according to The Wall Street Journal. Firms like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have employees on Reddit, Discord and Twitter, looking for the next big trading phenomenon.

“It’s more art than science because it’s uncharted territory,” Simeon Siegel, a BMO Capital Markets analyst, told WSJ.

It’s an amazing turn of events and proves just how much platforms like Robinhood, along with social media, have democratized investing.

  • Verizon Giving Customers a Free Year of AMC+

Verizon Giving Customers a Free Year of AMC+

Verizon is adding another entertainment service to its wireless bundles, giving some customers a free year of AMC+.

Wireless carriers have increasingly been bundling various streaming and entertainment services in an effort to reduce churn. Verizon already offers Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, discovery+, Apple Arcade, Apple Music and Google Play Pass on its high-end unlimited plans.

The company now includes AMC+ to that roster, giving customers access to programming from AMC, BBC America, IFC and SundanceTV, in addition to the content libraries of Shudder, Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited.

“Enhancing the way that fans enjoy their beloved content is at the center of what we do at Verizon,” says Erin McPherson, Head of Content Partnerships at Verizon. “Adding up to 12 months of AMC+ on us to our robust set of content offerings is just one more way we’re able to give our customers unique experiences, like getting to see the new season of the iconic AMC show, The Walking Dead, and the wealth of other acclaimed content that AMC+ offers, all on us.”

“Verizon has been a great and valued partner over the years, and we are pleased to now extend that partnership to our new premium streaming bundle, AMC+,” said Josh Reader, president of distribution and development for AMC Networks (Nasdaq: AMCX). “Over the last year, we have seen tremendous interest in AMC+ from consumers and our distribution partners, and the launch of this new partnership with Verizon couldn’t be better timed, with the premiere of the 11th and final season of The Walking Dead later this month and a truly spectacular lineup of original programming coming later this year and in 2022.”

  • AMC Will Accept Bitcoin as Payment

AMC Will Accept Bitcoin as Payment

AMC has announced it will start accepting bitcoin as payment by the end of 2021.

In an earnings call Monday, AMC CEO Adam Aron said all US theaters would accept bitcoin, for both tickets and concessions, if the purchase is made online. The company plans to have the necessary systems in place to accept the transactions by the end of 2021, according to CNBC.

As the outlet points out, the news brings together two highly volatile factors. Bitcoin’s prices have been all over the map in the last year, while AMC was one of the stocks that benefited from traders on Reddit’s WallStreetBets group, the same traders that brought GameStop to unexpected heights and cost hedge funds and short-sellers billions.

Regardless of the backstories involved, another major company accepting bitcoin as payment is sure to help drive the cryptocurrency’s popularity even more.

  • Short-Seller Losses Top $70 Billion In the War on Wall Street

Short-Seller Losses Top $70 Billion In the War on Wall Street

Short-sellers have lost a staggering $70 billion in the War on Wall Street between institutional investors and day traders on Reddit.

Day traders on Reddit began driving up the price of stocks traditional Wall Street investors had recommended shorting, most notably GameStop, which saw its price go up some 1,000%. AMC, Bed Bath and Beyond, Blackberry and others also saw stock jumps as a result of the day traders.

None of the companies in question saw their stock rise as a result of any fundamental change or improvement in their business. Instead, the phenomenon seemed to be a continuation of the Wall Street protests following the ‘08 crash, with everyman investors teaming up to stick it to Wall Street. Even Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Sr. highlighted how the whole situation was showcasing the power of community.

That community effort is taking a tangible toll on Wall Street, with Reuters reporting that investors have lost some $70.87 billion as a result of their short positions on US companies. GameStop makes up a sizable portion of those loses, coming in at $1.03 billion, Bed Bath & Beyond, meanwhile, accounts for $600 million.

It remains to be seen where this saga will end but, now that everyman traders have had a taste of the power they can wield, it’s hard to imagine stock trading will ever be the same.

  • Robinhood Blocks GameStop Trading, Faces Backlash

Robinhood Blocks GameStop Trading, Faces Backlash

Robinhood has weighed in on the war on Wall Street, blocking buys of GameStop, AMC, Blackberry and others, and facing backlash for it.

Day traders have been waging war against Wall Street, targeting stocks institutional investors have recommended shorting. The traders have been using Reddit to encourage others to buy those stocks, pumping them to record heights. GameStop surged as high as $247 from the $18 it was sitting at a couple of weeks ago.

The end result has been staggering losses by Wall Street investors who had shorted those stocks, in many cases being forced to buy them back at much higher prices. The situation has even caught the attention of the White House and Treasury Department.

Meanwhile, Wall Street investors have denounced the phenomenon, saying it’s not based on facts or the merits of the companies’ performance. Instead, the situation seems to be the latest example of community activism, fueled by frustration over how established institutions have done business.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Sr. made that point on Twitter:

Stock trading app Robinhood has taken action, blocking trades of $AAL, $AMC, $BB, $BBY, $CTRM, $EXPR, $GME, $KOSS, $NAKD, $NOK, $SNDL, $TR, and $TRVG. Needless to say, users are outraged, with some filing SEC complaints and others jumping ship for competing platforms, such as CashApp.

Robinhood may find itself reaping the same collective whirlwind Wall Street has been on the receiving end of, hurting its own business.

  • Day Traders Continue to Pump Stocks, WH and Treasury Monitoring

Day Traders Continue to Pump Stocks, WH and Treasury Monitoring

Day traders continued to take on Wall Street investors, pumping stocks traditional investors have been shorting.

GameStop made headlines when its stock surged after Citron Research’s Andrew Left urged investors to short it. Traders took to Reddit to urge others to buy, causing the stock to hit as high as $247 in after hours trading Tuesday, a far cry from the $18 it was at a couple of weeks ago.

GameStop isn’t the only company to see its stock take off. AMC has risen some 310%, Blackberry 24% and Bed Bath & Beyond 46%, according to Business Insider. It appears that day traders are engaging in a new level of activism, targeting stocks that institutional investors are shorting. The end result is volatile trading that has caused traditional investors to suffer heavy losses.

The situation is not going unnoticed, with WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki saying the White House and Treasury Department were monitoring the situation.

  • The Walking Dead Continues To Take World By Storm As Season 6 Approaches

The Walking Dead Continues To Take World By Storm As Season 6 Approaches

The Walking Dead is about to return to AMC as Season 6 makes its debut on Sunday at 9/8c. Fans have had a spinoff called Fear the Walking Dead to tide them over, but that recently wrapped up, and the original will soon grace the television screens in living rooms across the nation.

But if that weren’t enough, there’s also a web series in progress. The first episode of Fear the Walking Dead Flight 462 went live on the AMC YouTube channel last weekend. You can watch that here:

There’s no denying that The Walking Dead has become a major part of American pop culture. There’s even a convention inspired by The Walking Dead called Walker Stalker Con with 8 separate events across the world. It’s not solely dedicated to the series, but The Walking Dead is clearly its main focus. The con hits Atlanta later this month, where fans can meet many stars and people associated with the show including: Greg Nicotero, Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Michael Rooker, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Steven Yeun, David Morrissey, Michael Cudlitz, Scott Wilson, and many more (seriously, MANY more).

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 2.04.46 PM

Dates in New York/New Jersey, London, Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Chicago, and even a cruise from Miami to The Bahamas follow.

As for the The Walking Dead itself, it will be interesting to see if the opening of Season 6 is as grisly as that of Season 5, which recently became available on Netflix. The onscreen bloodshed has always been a staple of the show, but somehow seems to keep outdoing itself as it progresses.

If you’re caught up on the series, and the spinoff, and you just can’t wait to sink your teeth into more of The Walking Dead, you can check out the iPhone game The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land.

  • Walking Dead Spinoff Will Land Exclusively on Hulu

Walking Dead Spinoff Will Land Exclusively on Hulu

When the first season of AMC’s upcoming Walking Dead companion series Fear the Walking Dead wraps up, the only place you’ll be able to stream it online is Hulu.

Hulu has announced a major partnership with AMC Networks that will give it exclusive SVOD rights to “new and upcoming primetime scripted comedy and drama series” from networks like AMC, IFC, BBC, Sundance, and WE tv.

“Hulu announced a groundbreaking, multi-year deal with AMC Networks Inc. for the exclusive SVOD rights to new and upcoming primetime scripted comedy and drama series from AMC, IFC, BBC America, Sundance TV and WE tv. The new agreement will make Hulu the exclusive streaming home to the highly anticipated companion series to The Walking Dead, titled: Fear the Walking Dead. Through the deal, Hulu will – over time – become the SVOD home to a diverse and comprehensive collection of AMC Networks Inc.-produced content,” said the company. “Hulu will also become the streaming home for a significant number of films from the IFC Films collection.”

Fear the Walking Dead falls into that category.

Of course, “new and upcoming” means that Hulu will not be the exclusive home for currently-airing and past AMC hits like The Walking Dead, Mad Men, or Breaking Bad. Fear the Walking Dead has a lot of buzz surrounding it, due to the immense popularity of The Walking Dead, so it’s a nice get for Hulu.

But the true value of this deal depends a lot on the quality of AMC’s new shows. The better and more popular they are, the cooler this is for Hulu.

Hulu scored another big content grab – and it cost them a pretty penny. Hulu will now be the exclusive home for the entire Seinfeld collection – a deal that cost them upwards of $180 million.

Fear the Walking Dead is due out this summer.

  • AMC Theatres Now Offering Movie-a-Day Subscription Plan

AMC Theatres Now Offering Movie-a-Day Subscription Plan

In a move to get people out of their houses and watching movies at the theater as much as they’re watching them from their couches, AMC Theatres is partnering with MoviePass to bring a subscription model to the theatergoer.

AMC will let customers pay a monthly fee to gain virtually unlimited access to screenings (it’s not quite unlimited, but at one movie per day it’s pretty close).

The subscription will be offered in connection with MoviePass, the country’s largest movie theater subscription facilitator. Film fans can pay $35 per month to have access to one standard (2D) movie per day. And for $45 per month, they’ll have access to one movie a day in any format.

“This is the first time a premium level subscription service has been launched in the U.S. and marks a significant step forward by offering passionate movie lovers the premium sight and sound experiences available in movie theatres,” said Stacy Spikes, CEO and Co-Founder of MoviePass. “We believe this premium tier subscription, combined with a new online ticketing feature, will appeal to our largest demographic, 18-34-year-old movie goers. Our goal is to keep people coming out to the movies again and again.”

Theater visits have been on the decline with the advent of on-demand, Netflix, and other streaming options. By tapping into the current obsession with “subscription” services, AMC is looking to get more people through the doors.

“AMC Theatres leads the way in the movie exhibition industry in offering innovations that ‘wow’ our customers,” said Christina Sternberg, senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and Communications. “This pilot will provide more convenience for our guests, and responds to the preference of many consumers for monthly entertainment subscriptions such as music and magazines, which we believe will increase the frequency of movie going.”

This will run as a small test program at first in only two cities – Denver and Boston. But if it’s successful, you’d imagine that AMC will offer it in more markets as soon as they can.

  • The Walking Dead: Season 4 Gets Netflix Release Date

The Walking Dead: Season 4 Gets Netflix Release Date

Many Netflix subscribers are no doubt anxiously awaiting the addition of The Walking Dead: Season 4, especially as Season 5’s premiere gets closer. You can rest easy now knowing that it should appear on the service on September 28 (Sunday).

As you may know, we get weekly lists of upcoming title additions from Netflix PR, and while these dates are always subject to change, this week’s has The Walking Dead: Season 4 pegged for that day.

    The description (via Netflix):

In the wake of a zombie apocalypse that desolates the world as we know it, a group of survivors led by police officer Rick Grimes holds on to the hope of humanity by banding together to wage a never-ending fight for their own survival.

I guess that describes the show itself more than the season, but oh well. Here’s a trailer for the season:

We’re finding out about it later this year, but the season is being added earlier compared to Season 3 in 2013, which was added on October 13.

Season 5 debuts on October 12 on AMC.

  • Breaking Bad Prequel Promises To Be Television Event

    Relief is coming soon.

For fans going through serious Breaking Bad withdrawal, some vital information was revealed at the Television Critics’ Association Press Tour for the drama’s spinoff Better Call Saul. The show’s creator, our good pal and conflict-mastermind Vince Gilligan and co-showrunner Peter Gould, provided a few nuggets about the drama that should help fans with any remaining shakes and sweats.

Additionally, AMC released two first-look photos of the show’s production in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The cable network also released one of several planned updates regarding key information about the spinoff.

    Post by AMC.

First off, Better Call Saul, starring Bob Odenkirk, will be a prequel which centers upon Saul’s transformation from plain old Jimmy McGill to the shady but lovably quirky lawyer we got to know during five seasons of Breaking Bad.

This is the official synopsis released by AMC:

The series is set six years before Saul Goodman (Odenkirk) meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is “fixer” Mike Erhmantraut (Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad . The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts “criminal” in “criminal lawyer.” The series’ tone is dramatic, woven through with dark humor.

We know that season one will run 10 episodes and that it has already been renewed for a second season, which will run for 13 episodes. The show is set to air early 2015 and early 2016. No exact date for either season has been announced just yet.

AMC president Charlie Collier said of the show, “When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio, and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”

We also know that the series will take place around 2002, and much like Breaking Bad will shift time periods. Better Call Saul may also include Walter White story-lines. “One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad,” said Gould.

More updates should be coming soon.

  • Breaking Bad Cast Return To Spinoff Better Call Saul

To those who can’t listen to Badfinger’s “Baby Blue” without weeping into that pile of meth you bought for sentimental reasons, I have wonderful news: Better Call Saul, AMC’s spinoff of Breaking Bad starring Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman, may include Walter White story-lines.

However, they will likely take place in the halcyon days of yore, aka before White turned into America’s favorite dad/drug dealer and was just a high school teacher getting annual subpar b-day handjobs and praying for the end.

“One of the great things about having a time line which is flexible is that perhaps some of it takes place before Breaking Bad, during Breaking Bad, and after Breaking Bad. That gives us the ability to bring back characters that were killed on Breaking Bad,” said executive producer Peter Gould in the most baiting statement I have ever heard, ever.

The show takes place in 2002, six years before Goodman becomes involved with White’s antics, and will also jump between several decades including timelines both before and after White’s death. But White will not be the focus of the show.

“We’re trying to make something that stands on its own that has an entertainment value that is not just about seeing a series of old favorites. It’s not the series equivalent of a clip show. We’re trying to balance these things out” said Gould (“Are you or are you not bringing Walter White back to us, sir,” retorted my inner crybaby).

Whether or not White is returning, the fact that that the show creators used “What problem does Saul Goodman solve?” as a writing prompt is reason enough for me to tune in. Not that the show needs fans to increase chances of getting picked up for a second season — AMC ordered season two before season one has a premiere date more solid than “early 2015.”

And now, just because I can stand to watch knowing I may get another chance to love and hate Walter White:

  • The Walking Dead Premiere: Too Much For TV?

Good news for fans of the series The Walking Dead!

Entertainment Weekly reports that as of yesterday, the cast returned to work.

They are very excited about doing so, insisting that season five of The Walking Dead just might be THE most intense and blood-soaked affair to date!

“Some of the stuff they shot yesterday,” said actress Lauren Cohan, “I don’t think it’ll make it to TV.”

That’s quite a statement, especially since what they are filming at present is the season premiere itself.

Based on Cohan’s take, it promises to be one unforgettable television event.

Actor Andrew Lincoln, known as Rick Grimes to fans of show, was equally impressed with the premiere of the new season.

“It’s the most ambitious first episode I think we’ve ever attempted,” said Grimes.

What could be in this episode that would make Norman Reedus say, “Oh My God”, and leave Chad L. Coleman practically speechless? Coleman reportedly could only say “Wow”. after reading through the script.

As the hype builds by way of the cast, fans are no doubt that much more excited for the series to return to AMC.

Speaking of AMC, the network was kind enough to provide a behind-the-scenes look at work on the fifth season of the show, which is scheduled to return to television this fall.

One of the most exciting aspects of what’s to come is that whatever horror lies ahead, it’s expected that the main characters will face it together.

A great deal of time was spent apart in the previous season, with certain characters still unaccounted for. It’s going to be very interesting to see who survives the bloody series opener and who is lost.

Lincoln tells fans that if there is a theme to expect to run throughout this latest season, it’s “hierarchy”. He said that the characters will be trying to figure out where they fit in.

This makes sense. We had some new additions in season four and there are characters who were pretty much in charge of their own destiny for most of their time apart from Grimes. It’s going to be tougher for some to fall in line.

  • Neve Campbell Makes Memorable Appearance on Mad Men

When we think of the hit AMC drama Mad Men, we usually don’t think of the show as an opportunity for veteran television actors to reinvent themselves. However, Harry Hamlin of L.A. Law fame has been wickedly hilarious as his turn as an advertising executive at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Also Linda Cardellini, Freaks and Geeks and ER, played Don’s mistress last season, and ultimately broke his heart and helped to shatter his daughter’s innocence.

On Sunday, we also saw Dan Byrd who plays Travis on Cougar Town, as a naive businessman with a new set of ideals that seem to work better on paper than they do in the real world. But perhaps the biggest, and most pleasant surprise, was seeing Neve Campbell as the sexy, alluring widow seated next to Don Draper on the airplane ride back to New York after an up and down visit with his ready-to-breakout actress wife Megan.

Campbell has more or less been out of the spotlight since her salad days of the 1990s when she starred in the weepy television drama Party of Five, ran her way out of trouble in the horror parody franchise Scream, and fought evil witches in the cult hit The Craft. Her appearance towards the end of the Season 7 premiere may have only been five minutes of screen time, but the impact was felt by fans of the show not only on a nostalgic level, but in a way that could ultimately have an impact on the fate of our anti-hero Don Draper.

The 40-year-old actress spoke about her character’s deep back story in an interview with The Daily Beast, “Considering what she’s experienced in the past year with losing her husband, and then living in the generation she does, finding herself living as a widow, there was a lot to play with as an actress. And the fact that her husband was an alcoholic and that she watched him spiral downward, I thought about that history and what that would do to me, and what kind of person that would make me.”

Don Draper is clearly a man who has hit rock bottom in his life: he was kicked out of his own company, his marriage is on the rocks, his daughter caught him cheating with his mistress, his alcoholism is out of control, and he can never really escape the horrid memories of his childhood. However, Don always appears to maintain his composure (unless he’s blackout drunk). Campbell’s character seemed to bring out Draper’s vulnerability, he opened up to her in a way that we haven’t really seen on the show.

Campbell agrees, “Don’s suddenly in a very vulnerable place in his life where everything has fallen apart, and since she’s so open and vulnerable in sharing her story, I think it gives him more room to share. Also, her story is something he can relate to, and hear, and he might realize that the effect my character’s husband had on her might echo the damage he’s causing his own family.”

Whether or not we will enjoy more of Campbell on the final season of Mad Men remains to be seen. Matt Weiner, the showrunner of the drama, is notoriously secretive and Campbell is not allowed to say if she will be back.

  • The Walking Dead: Carol’s Devastating Decision

    [SPOILER ALERT]

Many fans of the hit AMC series The Walking Dead have been barking that the second half of Season Four has been a bit slow. The group was torn apart after the fall of the prison and each subsequent episode has focused on a different band of survivors and their fight to figure out what they should do next in the days of the Zombie Apocalypse. However, after last night’s episode, The Grove, fans of the show are lighting up social media in total disbelief.

    Yes, the show went there.

Like so many devastating episodes of The Walking Dead, there were moments when things were looking up. Carol, Tyrese, little Lizzie, her sister Mika, and baby Judith stumbled upon a Pecan Grove. There was plenty of water to drink from the well, there was food to eat, and they even had a working gas stove. Tyrese and Carol thought they were safe and made the decision not to trek out to the unknown of The Termimus. They figured they could stay at the grove, plant some food, and make a life that wasn’t filled with fear.

Then, Lizzie took a turn. Yes, in hindsight we should have known that something was coming. The girl was off. She didn’t get that the zombies were not play toys but killers who were no longer human. She herself almost offered her hand to the zombie on the tracks because the idea of turning into one didn’t seem that bad to the disillusioned little girl.

But the nightmarish horror that occurred at the end of the episode, even the most perverse mind couldn’t have seen coming. Tyrese and Carol had a nice talk while getting water out in the grove. Yes, they would stay there, raise the kids, trust each other, feel safe. However, when they returned to the house to find Lizzie’s hands covered in blood and poor sweet Mika stabbed to death lying on the ground, that life disappeared. But what was worse was that Lizzie didn’t get it. She didn’t understand what she’d done. She thought that Mika would turn into a zombie and become her friend. She told Tyrese and Carol that Mika would come back, that she didn’t hurt her head.

There would be no happy ending. There would be no more nights shelling pecans and toasting them in the oven while safely tucked away in a house that used to be a home. Carol ominously tells Tyrese, “We can’t sleep with her and Judith under the same roof.”

Instinctively, Carol knew what had to be done.

If anyone ever says to you when you have your back turned “look at the flowers,” you should run. In a twisted spin on Of Mice and Men, Carol shoots young Lizzie. It is brutally devastating, shocking, numbing, nightmarish and jaw dropping. But there was no other way. Carol has proven time and time again that humanity and conscience must be swept aside in order to survive. Anyone without that instinct gets devoured.

Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, sat for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. She talked about the necessity of Lizzie’s execution. “It was something that had to be done in that world and under those circumstances; Lizzie in that world seemed inevitable. It would be impossible for Tyreese and Carol to move forward with Judith, who doesn’t have any experience of the world before the apocalypse. It was so devastating for Carol to have to do that.”

It can’t be argued that one of the reasons why The Walking Dead is so popular is because it doesn’t follow a set of narrative rules. It’s not a story about zombies. It’s a story about how people change when there are only two options: die or survive. It’s messy, ugly, and gut-wrenching. In many episodes, spectator expectations get shattered. If you try and take a breath, if you think you know how things are going to turn out…you don’t. The Grove proved that last night. It was a warning to viewers not to become too comfortable. There’s more danger to come, no one is safe.

  • Norman Reedus Is Set To Star In Upcoming Sci-Fi Thriller

Well, he has certainly won over audiences for his small-screen role on The Walking Dead, and after this wildly popular role on the AMC drama, Norman Reedus has earned himself a starring role in an upcoming film.

Norman Reedus will be working with Robert Kirkman again, who will be producing the film. Kirkman is a writer on The Walking Dead, and has also worked on video game adaptations of the show.

It will be a collaborative effort with a handful of people who have already worked together on The Walking Dead, with David Alpert as one of the other producers, who is also an executive producer on the hit show.

Other producers on the film include Brian Kavanuagh-Jones and Chris Ferguson. The film will also feature a directorial debut from Chris Pasetto, who co-wrote the script with Christian Cantamessa.

Reedus’ upcoming film is a sci-fi thriller, and is called Air. It will star both Norman Reedus and Djimon Honsou, who has been absent from the spotlight for the past few years. The story is set in an underground cryogenic facility after a nuclear fallout makes the atmosphere intolerable, and people are unable to breathe.

The two main characters of the film are tasked with taking care of the infected sleeping personnel, the ones who are in charge of re-establishing society, but they struggle to preserve their own sanity, and lives, while maintaining the extremely fragile environment of the last livable place on earth.

Before becoming a fan favorite on the AMC drama The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus had appeared in a handful of films, and notable credits include The Boondock Saints, American Gangster and Blade II. Honsou, a two-time Oscar-nominated actor, is also set to appear in both Guardians Of The Galaxy and Fast And The Furious 7.

The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights, and continues to be a big attraction for many fans, as everyone gets excited about seeing Norman Reedus in the role of Daryl Dixon. Air will mark his biggest break since appearing on the hit drama, and in addition to his starring role, he will also be in the role of the executive producer, along with Bailey Conway and Noah Rosen.

‘The Walking Dead’ Returns to AMC Tonight

While we’re all a little sad FX’s creepy hit American Horror Story: Coven has recently concluded their season three, we have yet another chilling show to welcome back into our depraved lives. Say goodbye to witches and welcome back those lifeless zombies because The Walking Dead is back!

AMC’s The Walking Dead returns tonight with the second half of season four.

The last time we saw the gang, Hershel was murdered, the Governor was dead and the prison camp was split up.

Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha on the show, spilled some exciting details about this season and why audiences are “going to be scared.”

“We have our lips sealed,” Martin-Green said. “But I can say it’s going to be very different from what you’ve seen before, from all the seasons.”

The gang can no longer depend on the prison for shelter and are forced to move elsewhere clearly resulting in some intense drama.

Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, expressed the struggle the crew is in now that they can no longer rely on the prison.

“We’ve had the sanctity and security of the prison for a season and a half and we’re on the road again.People have been spun into orbit,” he said. “Everybody’s been separated and it’s a terrifying world we inhabit again.”

Martin-Green agreed with the group’s battle.

“I think there’s a lot for this group to deal with,” she continued. “There’s going to have to be a new life established, new fights [and] a new struggle to find hope.”

And like past seasons, the cast usually doesn’t know who’s getting killed off until they get a script with the news. And while we don’t know if her character’s getting axed, we do know the zombie-slaying star hasn’t made it out without a few bumps and bruises along the way.

“I pulled my quads early in the season when it was the dead of summer and we were doing a lot of running and stabbing and killing,” she said. “It wasn’t too bad. I could still walk on it. I was limping.”

So where will the gang end up? And will they remain together?

Tune in to AMC tonight to catch the highly anticipated episode.

  • Walking Dead Prank Should Make You Trust Sidewalk Grates Even Less

I wouldn’t call it a phobia, but I really hate walking on top of sidewalk grates. It’s not that I ever imagine a horde of zombies walkers busting through, grabbing my feet, and pulling me down to entrails town – you know, it’s just not solid ground. Creepy.

Anyway, speaking of hordes of zombies walkers hiding under grates, AMC recently decided to promote the return of The Walking Dead by scaring the absolute shit out of a bunch of New Yorkers. Fun!

Check out all the reactions below which, unsurprisingly, include people freaking out, people trying to look cool while freaking out, and one freaked out cop. I approve of this style of marketing.

Speaking of this style of marketing, the “prank ad” is becoming more of a thing. They did it for last year’s Carrie remake, and unfortunately the prank ad was probably more enjoyable than the actual film. To promote the recent horror film Devil’s Due, promoters orchestrated a devil baby attack featuring a truly unsettling little animatronic baby. Say what you will, but at least it’s better than being forced to watch the same trailer/promo for the 400th time.

The Walking Dead returns from its mid-season hiatus this Sunday.
