  • Pastor’s Wife Sexually Assaulted Before Murder, New Details in Amanda Blackburn Case

The pastor’s wife who was shot to death earlier this month in their Indianapolis home was sexually assaulted before she was murdered. This adds an even more disturbing detail to the death of Amanda Blackburn.

No arrests have yet been made in this case, but investigators say there was evidence left behind.

Twelve weeks pregnant at the time of the sexual assault and shooting, the pastor’s wife died the next day in the hospital. Davey Blackburn discovered his wife, unconscious and bleeding, when he arrived home on the day of the home invasion.

Authorities believe the attack was a random one, and they are using available surveillance tapes to track down whomever killed the 28-year-old.

On Saturday, two people were arrested on unrelated charges after they were questioned about the death of the pastor’s wife. Neither is being held in conjunction with the Amanda Blackburn case, however.

Davey Blackburn is confident investigators will soon determine who killed his wife and unborn child. He was quickly ruled out by police as having any involvement in the heinous crime.

“They’ve assured us that they have the full breadth of resources at their availability. They’ve assured me that they’ve never seen this kind of a blank check that they’ve been given to be able to further the investigation,” Davey Blackburn said. “So we’re really confident and hopeful that very soon, some of these promising leads that they have will turn into being able to find the person or the people who are responsible for this.”

Indianapolis neighborhoods have been on edge since the home invasion that claimed the life of this young pastor’s wife.

Davey Blackburn is now left to raise the couple’s first child on his own, because of this senseless crime.

  • Amanda Blackburn: Tossed Handgun May Have Been Pregnant Woman’s Murder Weapon

Amanda Blackburn, the wife of an Indianapolis pastor, was shot and killed in her home during what police believe may have been an invasion last week, and now they believe they may have found the weapon that killed her.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Lt. Richard Riddle, a resident in a nearby neighborhood found a handgun in their front yard and turned it over to authorities. The weapon is reportedly in good condition and is being investigated as part of the crime, Riddle says.

“It certainly is of interest to our detectives to see if that weapon has any connection to any crime in that area. But most importantly the Amanda Blackburn case at this point.”

Amanda Blackburn reportedly had no enemies and was pregnant at the time of the shooting; both she and the baby perished. Her 15-month old son was asleep upstairs when it happened, while husband Davey was at the gym. Authorities reportedly cleared him as a suspect after reviewing surveillance footage at the establishment.

Davey Blackburn says his wife was loved by everyone she knew, and while police haven’t said whether they believe the shooting was definitely part of a break-in, they did release grainy surveillance footage from a nearby home that was burglarized recently.

“It was such an obscure photo. It’s extremely difficult to say that anybody recognized it. Our neighborhood was so close and it was such a seemingly safe neighborhood. And so this has devastated all the neighbors,” Blackburn said.

Amanda Blackburn’s best friend of over two decades, Elizabeth Enfield Henderson, said that Amanda was an inspiration to her.

“Amanda inspired me in so many ways to not only love God, but to live a life with purpose and that’s really hard to think about without her,” Enfield said.

  • Amanda Blackburn: Photos Of Murder Suspect Released, Police May Soon Identify Killer

The tragic death of 28-year-old Amanda Blackburn is still under investigation, and police are making some progress with the identity of her killer.

Officials of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department held a press conference last Friday and released two photos of the suspect, which were taken from a surveillance camera near the scene of the crime.

The grainy, black-and-white photos depict a man of medium height and build, wearing a two-toned hoodie and light-colored pants. Police appealed to the public to help them get better leads that would expedite the arrest of the killer.

Amanda Blackburn, the young wife of pastor, Davey Blackburn, was killed in cold blood on the morning of Tuesday last week. Her husband, who had been at the gym at the time of the murder, later discovered their home in disarray and Blackburn lying on the floor with a gunshot to her head.

Amanda Blackburn died shortly after being taken to the Indiana University Methodist Hospital. The couple’s one-year-old son was also home during the shooting, but was reported to be unharmed. Authorities investigating the crime believe that took place was a home invasion that turned awry.

The memorial service for Amanda Blackburn was held on Sunday at the Traders Point Church in Whitestown, with more than 2,000 attending the affair. She and husband Davey were active Christians who headed the Resonate Church in Indianapolis. They were expecting their second child, who was 12 weeks on the way.

Pastors from four other churches of which Amanda Blackburn and her husband used to be members spoke at her funeral.

Friends and Family Remember Amanda Blackburn

Among those who spoke at her funeral was Pastor Perry Noble of the NewSpring Church in South Carolina, which the Blackburns attended prior to moving to Indiana.

Crime Stoppers has put a $1,000 reward for anyone who can give valuable leads and tips on Amanda Blackburn’s shooter.

  • Amanda Blackburn, Preacher’s Wife Killed in Home Invasion, Remembered at Memorial Service Sunday

Amanda Blackburn was the young pregnant wife of an Indianapolis preacher, who died in a home invasion last Tuesday.

Friends, family members, and congregants gathered for what those closest to her called a celebration of Amanda Blackburn’s life.

Sister Amber Wilkinson shared her thoughts in a video.

“The most ironic thing about having a baby sister–a little sister–is you kind of feel like you have to protect them and watch out for them all the time,” she said. “I look up to her more than almost anybody in this whole world.”

Stories of Davey and Amanda Blackburn ran the gamut from their love story to their moving from South Carolina to Indianapolis to start a church. Those attending her memorial chose to focus on her life instead of the violence of her death. They say their “world is shaken, but their faith is not.”

On the day Amanda Blackburn died, another break-in took place just a few doors down from the Blackburn home at 5:30 a.m. It is unknown as of yet if the two crimes are related. Surveillance footage shows a male between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and of slim-to-medium build, who was wearing light-colored pants and a two-toned hoodie.

A reward has been posted for information leading to Amanda Blackburn’s killer.
