  • Melissa Rycroft Wins Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars

First of all, I am really amazed about how well this season’s Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars show has been, along with the way it was handled and perceived by the public. The competition was really fierce, with all of the competitors having to bring their A-game. One of the competitors this season who brought their A-game to the competition was ex-Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Melissa Rycroft from the show’s eighth season.

Rycroft joined the show in season 8 as a replacement for Nancy O’Dell (Access Hollywood host) after she(O’Dell) encountered an injury prior to the show and had to withdraw. Rycroft was paired with professional dancer Tony Dovolani, who has partnered her for both of these seasons; however, the couple had never won a mirror-ball trophy until now.

During the All-Stars season, Melissa and Tony started to rise above the pack of other dancers during the “Swing Dance Marathon,” where the couple were the last ones dancing and achieved the highest score. As the season came down to the last few weeks, competition became harder as she competed against other mirror-ball-winning competitors Shawn Johnson and Kelly Monaco, who had become equally as good.

On Tuesday, November 28th, 2012’s Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars results show, it was announced that Melissa Rycroft won the season’s trophy, making this her first mirror-ball trophy. Rycroft definitely earned the trophy this season, and we congratulate her for her amazing victory on America’s most-watched dance reality television show.

  • Sabrina Bryan Eliminated: DWTS “All-Stars” Week 6

It came as a shock to many during last night’s results show when Disney Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan and Pro-dancer Louis Van Amstel were eliminated. One of the main reasons why this came as a shock was because they received the highest score of the previous night’s “Country Night” with an 88.5 (cumulative from the week before).

Sabrina performed an awesome Rumba with Louis to the song “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes, starting off the performance with a very content-rich solo, and then partnering with Louis for the rest of the song. Her performance included: solid chemistry between her and Louis, exquisite Latin hip action, clean open breaks and sliding doors, and well-synchronized Rumba walks. I have provided a clip of this performance below:

A weird coincidence about Sabrina leaving during this point in the competition is that she also was eliminated during week 6 of Season 5 when she was paired with Mark Ballas.

Sabrina’s closing remarks prior to the end of the results show were “This was my second chance. I’m grateful for this experience, and Dancing With the Stars honestly has been just an absolute dream.”

  • Dancing With the Stars’ “All-Stars” Season Premieres

This past Monday, ABC launched season 15 of one of America’s top-watched shows, Dancing With the Stars; however, with this season was not filled with any new celebrities, but returning champions and fan favorites to re-earn and re-defend their titles. The partnerships for this season were comprised mostly of new pairings, although, there were some old partnerships brought back together as well. I have provided the cast list below:

    • Apolo Anton Ohno (partnered with Karina Smirnoff)
    • Bristol Palin (partnered with Mark Ballas)
    • Drew Lachey (partnered with Anna Trebunskaya)
    • Emmitt Smith (partnered with Cheryl Burke)
    • Gilles Marini (partnered with Peta Murgatroyd)
    • Helio Castroneves (partnered with Chelsie Hightower)
    • Joey Fatone (partnered with Kym Johnson)
    • Kelly Monaco (partnered with Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy)
    • Kirstey Alley (partnered with Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy)
    • Melissa Rycroft (partnered with Tony Dovolani)
    • Pamela Anderson (partnered with Tristan MacManus)
    • Sabrina Bryan (partnered with Louis Van Amstel)
    • Shawn Johnson (partnered with Derek Hough)

Even though these contestants are not new to the season, a new scoring system is. The judges now have “.5” decimal paddles, giving the ability to the score to not be a whole number, but closer to a certain whole number. This certainly took me by surprise the first time I saw a score with a .5 in it.

What do you think of the new scoring system on DWTS? Let us know in this posts’s comments section.

There were a lot of break-out routines during the course of the show; however, one of the routines that received excellent praise and was awarded was Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke’s cha-cha (shown below):

As the season goes, someone has to go home. For the first “All-Stars” season results show, the first celebrity dancer who was eliminated was Pamela Anderson, who received a low score of 17 the night before. Anderson’s elimination sure stirred up some mixed reaction on Twitter:
