Lauren Graham: “Parenthood” Daughter Mae Whitman Joins “Gilmore Girls” Revival

Lauren Graham will soon have her two on-screen daughters by her side. Alexis Bledel is reprising her role as Rory Gilmore in the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival, and now Mae Whitman–who played Graham’s daughter Amber from the now-defunct NBC show Parenthood–is on board for a cameo as well.

According to TVLine, there’s been no word yet on the role Mae Whitman will play, but the interaction between her, Lauren Graham, and Alexis Bledel, “will delight Parenthood fans.”

Lauren Graham’s on-screen daughters met for the first time in June. It looks like they became fast friends, too.

Mae Whitman and Lauren Graham have remained close since their time on Parenthood came to a close.

How cool is it that fans will soon be treated to the best of Lauren Graham, as she combines characters from Gilmore Girls and Parenthood?

Which of the two was your favorite Lauren Graham show?

When the Gilmore Girls revival hits Netflix, it will air in four 90-minute “mini-movies.” Each segment will depict one of the four seasons.

Are you among those counting the days until Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel–and now Mae Whitman–return to TV?

  • Alexis Bledel: Rory Gilmore’s Ex Logan Huntzberger to Return to “Gilmore Girls” Revival

Alexis Bledel: Rory Gilmore’s Ex Logan Huntzberger to Return to “Gilmore Girls” Revival

Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham haven’t pretended for one minute that they’re not over the moon excited about the revival of Gilmore Girls for its four-episode run on Netflix. Now Alexis Bledel is even more excited. She just recently learned that The Good Wife actor Matt Czuchry has signed on for the return, too. That means Rory Gilmore’s ex-boyfriend Logan Huntzberger is headed back to Stars Hollow.

Matt Czuchry’s character dated Alexis Bledel’s character after she returned to Stars Hollow from Yale. His return to the show will no doubt add some significant drama, because Logan proposed to Rory in the Gilmore Girls season finale, and she turned him down.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino indicated last week that Matt Czuchry might not be the only one of Alexis Bledel’s character’s exes to appear in the revival.

“Our plan is to get as many of [Rory’s] lovely men back as possible. We’re still dealing with who’s going to be in it,” she said. “We definitely want to see them. And we have storylines planned. I just need someone to tell me they’re going to show up.”

In addition to Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham, the Gilmore Girls revival will also include Scott Patterson as Lorelai’s partner Luke, Keiko Agena as Rory’s best mate Lane Kim, Kelly Bishop as Emily Gilmore, and Sean Gunn as Kirk Gleason. Fans are hoping Melissa McCarthy will return to her role as Sookie St. James, but a recent tweet she shared indicates she has yet to be asked.

Were you a fan of Alexis Bledel and Matt Czuchry playing opposite one another on Gilmore Girls? Are you excited he’s returning along with so many of the original gang?

  • “Gilmore Girls” Revival, Will Melissa McCarthy Reprise Sookie St. James Role in Netflix FOur-Part Series?

“Gilmore Girls” Revival, Will Melissa McCarthy Reprise Sookie St. James Role in Netflix FOur-Part Series?

The Gilmore Girls revival is underway, with Yanic Truesdale, who is reprising his role as Michel, posting a pic sharing his excitement.

It was only about a week ago that Lauren Graham–Lorelai Gilmore–confirmed that a four-part revival of the show, via Netflix, is a definite.

“We haven’t even started shooting and I haven’t even seen any of the scripts. So, all I can tell you is it is because of you, the devoted fans that I get to revisit this character and go back to this world,” she said. “And we are all so excited and so thankful.”

In addition to Lauren Graham and Yanic Truesdale, the Gilmore Girls revival will star series original Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore), in addition to Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, and Sean Gunn.

Avid Gilmore Girls fans are hoping Melissa McCarthy will also reprise her role as Sookie St. James. It seems, however, that she hasn’t been invited to join the others in the revival.

McCarthy thanked a fan who expressed her Sookie St. James sentiments via Twitter.

What’s your take on this? The Gilmore Girls isn’t complete without Sookie St. James. Why do you suppose Melissa McCarthy hasn’t been contacted to appear in the four new episodes?

Could it be the producers are simply a bit slow in getting everything organized?

Were you a Gilmore Girls fan? Do you agree that a revival of the show needs Sookie?

Fans are anxiously awaiting word on whether or not Melissa McCarthy will return to reprise her role as Sookie St. James.

Lauren Graham and Netflix both made official announcements via Twitter.

Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham spent six seasons portraying Rory Gilmore and Lorelai Gilmore. They were possibly one of the most popular mother-daughter duos on TV.

No word has yet emerged as to exactly when Gilmore Girls is set to make its big return. Hopefully Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham keep fans apprised of their filming schedule.

“Gilmore Girls” Returning: Netflix to Air Four New 90-Minute Episodes, Featuring Lauren Graham as Lorelai and Alexis Bledel as Rory

Gilmore Girls fans, rejoice. Lorelai and Rory are headed back to the small screen, thanks to Netflix. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and even more of the original Gilmore Girls cast will star in four 90-minute episodes to air on Netflix.

Wrapping in 2007, Gilmore Girls fans have never fully recovered from the loss of their weekly dose of the fast-talking mother-daughter pair whose antics and strife kept viewers completely enamored.

Originally on the WB before it moved to the CW for its final season, Gilmore Girls producer and series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino left before the show ended. She once admitted that the show didn’t wrap the way she had envisioned it. Instead she famously planned the show’s ending with four unrevealed words, but never had the chance to conclude Gilmore Girls on her own terms.

Some might fear this short, four-series reboot might ruin the legacy of Gilmore Girls. Those fans are told not to be concerned. Amy Sherman-Palladino promises there is no need to worry.

It is believed that production on the Netflix reboot of Gilmore Girls is set to start some time early in 2016. There’s been no word thus far on when the series will air.

One rumor surrounding the reboot that will no doubt be disappointing to diehard fans is that Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls, isn’t likely to return.

Were you a Gilmore Girls fan? Are you excited beyond belief to see Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reprise their roles as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore for this upcoming Netflix reboot?

  • Katherine Heigl, Alexis Bledel: Gay Marriage Portrayed in New Film On Heels of Supreme Court’s Same-Sex Marriage Decision

Katherine Heigl and Alexis Bledel come out as lesbian lovers in a new film called Jenny’s Wedding, which is set to hit theaters on July 31st. Heigl plays Jenny, who initially shocks her parents when she announces she’s gay and planning to marry her roommate Kitty–played by Alexis Bledel.

A new trailer for Jenny’s Wedding was released quite coincidentally near the Supreme Court’s decision just over a week ago to allow same-sex marriages in all 50 states.

The film deals with the issue of same-sex marriage–and the way Jenny’s family was caught blindsided–in a very thought-provoking, gentle way.

Directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue, who wrote the screenplays for both White Oleander and Beaches, Jenny’s Wedding co-stars Tom Wilkinson and Linda Emond as Jenny’s parents.

Most parents dream of the day their little girl will walk down the aisle and marry the man of their dreams. Jenny’s Wedding watches those dreams shatter in Wilkinson and Emond’s characters as Katherine Heigl’s character makes her two bold announcements, but also watches the pieces very sensitively come back together in something that emerges as beautiful–not merely tolerant.

“Kitty and I want to get married, Mom,” Katherine Heigl, as Jenny, tells her mother.

“You’re marrying your roommate?” Linda Emond’s character asks.

“She’s not my roommate, Mom,” Katherine Heigl replies.

Katherine Heigl is best known for her role as Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy, and recently starred on NBC in State of Affairs. Alexis Bledel is best known for her role as Rory Gilmore in the long-running TV series The Gilmore Girls.

Will you be checking out Jenny’s Wedding when it opens at the box office on July 31st?

The trailer shares the first look at the couple as they plan their upcoming wedding even as Jenny’s family comes to terms with her out-of-left-field revelation.

Mary Agnes Donoghue, screenwriter for Beaches and White Oleander directed the film and co-produced with Gail Levin and Michelle Manning. The movie opens in theaters July 31, and co-stars Tom Wilkinson and Linda Emond as Jenny’s parents.

The film couldn’t be more timely, considering this week’s landmark decision making same-sex marriage legal throughout the United States.

Katherine Heigl is best known as Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy and as Charlie Tucker on State of Affairs.

Alexis Bledel starred as Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls and Lena Kaligaris in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies.

  • Alexis Bledel Joins Other ‘Gilmore Girls’ Family Members in Remembering Edward Hermann

Alexis Bledel, 33, joins other members of the on-screen Gilmore family in remembering the late Edward Hermann, who played the patriarch in the popular Gilmore Girls series.

Bledel, who played Rory Gilmore, the granddaughter of Hermann’s character, Richard Gilmore, for seven years on the show, released a statement to E! News in the wake of the actor’s death on New Year’s Eve.

“Ed Herrmann was a wonderful actor and a kind man,” she said of the 71-year-old veteran actor. “He was endlessly knowledgeable about theater, TV and film, and would generously share his wisdom or tell stories from a long and rewarding career. I am grateful to him for that, and will miss him tremendously. He loved acting and was the head of our Gilmore family with his strong presence and great sense of humor. May he rest in peace.”

A number of other Gilmore Girls co-stars have also expressed their grief and admiration for the actor.

“My friend Ed Herrmann was the kindest, classiest, most talented man,” said Lauren Graham, who played daughter Lorelai Gilmore. “It was an honor and a joy to know him, a devastating blow to lose him.”

“Besides being a consummate actor, he was kind and funny, fair and honest and always willing to join in the game,” said Kelly Bishop, who played Hermann’s onscreen wife, Emily Gilmore. “We shared a love of acting and of being working actors and I suspect he was secretly grateful for all the opportunity and success he enjoyed…and deserved. His brother told me Ed never stopped learning; he was always curious. When I think of my dear friend, a phrase comes to mind: ‘A hale fellow, well met.’ And I am so lucky to have met him.”

  • Alexis Bledel Releases Statement On Edward Herrmann

Alexis Bledel and her Gilmore Girls co-stars have released statements this week about the passing of Edward Herrmann, who played Richard Gilmore and was a grandfather-figure to Bledel for seven years.

Bledel said she learned quite a bit from the veteran actor during their time on the show together, calling him “endlessly knowledgeable” about film, television, and theater.

“Ed Herrmann was a wonderful actor and a kind man. He was endlessly knowledgeable about theater, TV and film, and would generously share his wisdom or tell stories from a long and rewarding career. I am grateful to him for that, and will miss him tremendously. He loved acting and was the head of our Gilmore family with his strong presence and great sense of humor. May he rest in peace,” she said.

Herrmann was an accomplished actor and famously had roles in The Lost Boys and The Aviator, as well as several television credits on The Practice, Oz, and Grey’s Anatomy. He died on New Year’s Eve at the age 71 after a long battle with brain cancer.

“Edward Herrmann besides being an accomplished actor, he was a true gentleman and a scholar, as well as being an incredibly kind and decent man. He will be sorely missed,” his manager said in a statement.

These old friends sure do like to get together and share big news with one another. On Sept. 15, they were reunited for a friendly brunch, causing a bit of a frenzy with Sisterhood fans.

“Always a good day when I’m with my sisters #DeLosPantalones Love these amazing women,” Ferrera wrote via Instagram at the time. Tamblyn added: “Brunch with my best bitches.”

  • Alexis Bledel Reunites With Her Sisterhood Co-Stars

Alexis Bledel recently reunited with her The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars.

The four girls, who starred together on the 2006 film, met up for a casual brunch, and shared snapshots of their reunion.

The girls are sitting at a long counter, facing the camera and smiling ear to ear. They all seem to be wearing minimal makeup for their low-key meeting.

“Always a good day when I’m with my sisters #DeLosPantalones Love these amazing women,” America Ferrera captioned the photo.

“Brunch with my best bitches. #sisterhood @preserve_us @americaferrera,” Amber Tamblyn captioned the same photo.

Bledel, who is best known for her role as Rori Gilmore in Gilmore Girls, hadn’t been seen since she secretly tied the knot to Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser.

The couple reportedly said their vows during a top-secret ceremony in California earlier this summer. They first met on the set of the AMC show, and their reps later confirmed that they were engaged in March 2013.

“I told Vinnie that they would be great together,” Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said at the time. “I was like, ‘Don’t blow it!’”

“Honestly, they’re a really good match,” he continued. “They’re both very down-to-earth, with a sense of responsibility and strong family ties. And they’ve been acting since before they can remember, which makes for a very special personality. It’s not just that I thought they would look cute together.”

Apparently Weiner was right as the couple seems happier than ever!

  • Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera Still Best Friends

Amber Tamblyn says she and America Ferrera are still good friends even though it’s been nine years since they starred as besties in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Tamblyn and Ferrera, along with Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel, made up a quartet of best friends in the 2005 adaptation of Ann Brashares’ bestselling young adult novel.

They reprised their roles in 2008’s follow-up The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

Tamblyn spoke about her friendship with Ferrerra on Saturday at the Los Angeles premiere of Ferrera’s new movie X/Y.

According to Tamblyn, she and husband David Cross (Arrested Development, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kung Fu Panda) frequently double date with Ferrera and husband Ryan Piers Williams (The Dry Land, Oceans Twelve.)

“Usually America and I [go] out first, eating and catching up and talking about existentialism and philosophy, and where we are in our lives. And that usually lasts about two hours,” Tamblyn said. “And then the dudes join up … and then we talk about sports for 10 minutes. And then America and I go back to being in love with each other. They go off and do their own thing.”

Back in 2013 Tamblyn expressed gratitude for her continued friendship with Ferrera:

“I feel very lucky, and it never ceases to amaze me that it turned out this way. And even David and Ryan are friends – like, our dudes are friends.”

The quartet was reunited in 2012 at Lively’s September wedding to actor Ryan Reynolds. They got together the following month at Tamblyn and Cross’ wedding.

Tamblyn said Lively helped pick out her wedding dress:

“It was actually like a marigold dress and the design of it … Blake … really helped me with … She was someone who was sort of instrumental in it, and I knew I didn’t want a white dress and I always thought of kind of a bright jewel tone.”

As for Ferrera, Tamblyn said she “was one of three people to speak at my wedding. She’s one of my best friends.”

In April Alloy Entertainment, which produced the first two Sisterhood movies announced plans to develop a third film in the series. Casting for Sisterhood Everlasting has yet to be announced, but Alloy president Les Morgenstein has alluded to a reunion of the original actors:

“The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again.”

  • Alexis Bledel: Will There Be A Gilmore Girls Movie?

Alexis Bledel is probably best known for her role as Rory Gilmore on the CW original series Gilmore Girls.

Bledel’s character was the daughter of Lorelai Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham. The series ended after seven seasons, and left fans wondering what happened to the famous Gilmore girls.

Now, seven years later, Bledel and Graham have moved on to other roles. Graham is currently starring on the television series Parenthood, and Bledel has previously been appearing in a cameo on Mad Men.

While nothing is set in stone, there has recently been speculation that Bledel and Graham will be returning to Stars Hollow for a Gilmore Girls movie, especially after Graham revealed, during a Reddit chat, that she had been in touch with the producers.

When asked about her off-screen relationship with Bledel, Graham replied that she loves her, and still sees her from time-to-time. “Love her, we’ll always have a special bond,” Graham explained. “Saw her in NY not too long ago. I had a nice lunch with TV mom Kelly and Amy S.P. as well. We went to Joe Allen, one of my faves.”

Graham didn’t reveal what the lunch with Amy Sherman-Palladino was about, but it could have possibly been in regards to a Gilmore Girls movie reunion. Graham said she would definitely be up to doing a movie, and admitted that she loved her character Lorelai.

“I honestly don’t know,” she said, when asked about the rumors. “I appreciate how many have asked. That character was so special – I wonder what happens to her too! Yes, IF a movie version could be as good as we’d all want it to be, I’d love to play that character again.”

The last time Bledel addressed the rumors was in 2010, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. At the time, she and Graham said that there were no official plans, and they couldn’t even speculate on their reaction because Amy hadn’t told them anything.

  • Alexis Bledel’s Fiancé Opens Up About Their Love

In a world where every hook-up, engagement and wedding is ‘news’, it’s rare to find a Hollywood couple that keeps their relationship on the down low. However, Mad Men‘s Vincent Kartheiser and his fiancé, Alexis Bledel, have been very hush-hush about their love.

Finally, we have some word from Vincent Kartheiser about his relationship with his fiancé.

According to Vulture, Kartheiser met the Gilmore Girls actress two years ago when she guest-starred as his character’s mistress on Mad Men. Currently he lives in Los Angeles but has been staying in Brooklyn with the 32-year old actress.

Kartheiser, 34, says they didn’t start dating until after season five wrapped.

“We were completely professional,” Kartheiser said. “We never saw each other out. We never—it was nothing, it was just work.”

Several of his costars including Jon Hamm, and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, spoke out on their behalf.

“I did know he liked her from a very early point,” Hamm said. “I was a supporter of that union.”

Weiner also commented on the couple, adding, “I told Vinnie that they would be great together. I was like, ‘Don’t blow it!’”

Weiner told the show’s writers that the two would get married.

“Honestly, they’re a really good match,” Weiner said. “They’re both very down to earth, with a sense of responsibility and strong family ties. And they’ve been acting since before they can remember, which makes for a very special personality. It’s not just that I thought they would look cute together.”

But, he said, with a laugh, “Even with all of Alexis‘s amazing qualities, I think that if she had not been such a good actress, he would not have been interested.”

The two were engaged in March 2013 after dating for several months.

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser met on the set of Mad Men in 2012 and the rest is history. Well, the rest would be history if the two would ever talk about their relationship. They apparently don’t like to talk about it much. Fans of the power couple want to know more and that may have forced Kartheiser’s hand in a recent interview.

Speaking to Vulture, Kartheiser gave fans a little tease of what it was like when he was first started working with Bledel. The two were filming quite a few love scenes together, but the sparks weren’t flying at that point. In his own words, they kept it professional at first – “We were completely professional. We never saw each other out. We never—it was nothing, it was just work.”

Despite their professionalism, the cast and crew saw sparks where there were apparently none before. Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner says that he gave Kartheiser a little nudge in the right direction, but won’t take credit for the two hooking up:

“Honestly, they’re a really good match. They’re both very down to earth, with a sense of responsibility and strong family ties. And they’ve been acting since before they can remember, which makes for a very special personality. It’s not just that I thought they would look cute together.”

Despite the small tidbits coming from Kartheiser and the crew of Mad Men, Bledel herself has been very mum on her relationship with Kartheiser. She’s definitely not the kind of personality to sing from the hilltops about her relationship with her official Twitter account being all but abandoned. Her last tweet was made on July 4 last year and her Instagram account hasn’t been updated since January. Her Facebook fan page is also woefully outdated. You could make the argument that she’s just busy, but it might also be that she just doesn’t like the spotlight outside of her roles in television and film.

Even so, she can’t keep all the details of her relationship hidden. Back in March of last year, Us Weekly revealed that Bledel and Kartheiser had gotten engaged. The two haven’t announced a formal wedding date, however, and probably won’t to avoid the unwanted attention it would receive. After all, celebrities are people too.

Fans can catch Bledel and Kartheiser together in the final season of Mad Men currently airing on AMC. The second episode airs tonight at 10 p.m. EST.
