  • Lily James Wows Fans in Alexander McQueen at “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” Premiere

Lily James was positively stunning in an Alexander McQueen gown as she walked the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies on Thursday evening. The Downton Abbey star plays an unusual role in the new film.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is based on the Jane Austen classic–Pride and Prejudice–but with a significant plot twist involving zombies.

Lily James, in her role as Elizabeth Bennet, is as intriguing on the big screen as she is on the red carpet.

“At first I didn’t understand the concept of zombies and Jane Austen.” But, she said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Then I read it and loved it. I think it’s a really brave, exciting and fun version of the story.”

As those familiar with Austen’s novel know, a pivotal scene takes place between Elizabeth and Darcy, during which Darcy proposes marriage. Zombies play a key role in the new version. Battles are involved.

“We trained really hard. The Bennet sisters all trained together. We learned boxing and kung fu and martial arts, and we had such a great time,” Lily James says of the strength and agility required for the unusual role.

On Thursday night, however, there were no battles, and Lily James–decked out in her dress from Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2016 collection–was delicately graceful. The sheer fabric and floral embroidery helped channel her feminine side, which translated into gorgeous and sexy on the red carpet.

Will you be checking out Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? In addition to Lily James, the film stars Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, Douglas Booth, Matt Smith, Charles Dance, and Lena Headey.

  • Dianna Agron: Yahoo Calls Her ‘McQueen’ Performance ‘F**king Devastating’

Dianna Agron, probably best known for her role as a teenaged Quinn Fabray on the hit musical TV series Glee, received a scathing review from Yahoo for her role in McQueen, at London’s St. James Theatre. The review, in fact, went beyond scathing. It called her performance, ‘f**king devastating.’

Unfortunately, it wasn’t just Yahoo giving Dianna Agron a less-than-stellar review.

“But Glee star Dianna Agron is not good, I’m afraid. Her delivery is glib yet slow–I never believe the quick-fire rapport with McQueen, and when they get onto more profound or personal matters, her probing feels painfully crass rather than deep-and-meaningful. This performance is more blunt than a pair of old sewing scissors; it simply doesn’t cut it. Phillips’ meditations on love, death and beauty are left crudely over-exposed, and given Agron is at the heart of the play, it’s hard to get the real measure of McQueen,” the Independent writes.

The Telegraph writes, “Another issue is Agron, best known as cheerleader-turned-teenage mum Quinn in hit TV show Glee, who never manages to elevate her character beyond a clothes-horse spouting psychobabble. She speaks in a strange, sing-song voice throughout, reciting rather than metabolizing her lines. It’s an uncomfortably stilted performance.”

Nothing quite compares with Yahoo’s review of Dianna Agron, however.

Will this be the end of stage performances for Dianna Agron? Will she return to the U.S. and seek out roles akin to an older version of her Glee character?

Hopefully Dianna Agron’s time in McQueen finds her receiving better reviews in the weeks to come. She is set to appear in the West End production until the end of June.

  • Queen Elizabeth on Kate Middleton’s “Short Skirts”

It seems women everywhere are crazy about Kate Middleton, gushing about her classy yet sophisticated style. That is everyone except her grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth.

Apparently there will be some changes to Middleton’s upcoming Australian tour wardrobe including longer hems. The revised outfits will result in a “subtle but significant regal makeover” featuring “lower hemlines” than what Middleton usually sports.

According to The Daily Mail “This trip will be about Kate appearing more Royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely.”

While the Queen is allowed to have a say in the wardrobe, Middleton’s fashion team has already asked favorite designers, Alexander McQueen and Alice Temperley, about creating one-of-a-kind pieces for her trip.

Maybe we’ll see some inspiration flow from this Alexander McQueen line?

  • Kate Moss Strikes Unusual Pose at 40

Kate Moss Strikes Unusual Pose at 40

Kate Moss has undergone some very unusual transformations as part of a series of advertisements for Alexander McQueen. The 40-year-old super model has exactly what it takes to pull off the look in these amazing photo shoots touting the fashion great’s 2014 spring and summer line.

Almost unrecognizable, Moss appears in the ad campaign with very close cropped blonde hair. Donning metallic makeup and skin-baring leather and metal attire, she looks like a super hero or a warrior princess, and her clothing isn’t all that different from what Lynda Carter wore in her Wonder Woman days, except the red, white and blue has been exchanged for a more sultry color palette.

The ads themselves exude an air of gloom and doom as Kate Moss walks through “darkened streets and isolated rooms,” but the collection is inspired by early 20th century trends. It is said to be “exuberant and athletic.”

Moss only recently turned 40, and when you see her in this Alexander McQueen ad campaign, there is little to no hint of her being a day over 25.

Check out one of the ads in its entirety.

What do you suppose is with Kate Moss’s look-alike doll? Is her her own “Mini-Me? It lends itself to the creepy sense one gets when first viewing the ad, and leaves you wondering exactly what it was all about. It doesn’t seem to serve any purpose other than to raise that question of “Why?” It’s quite unlikely that Alexander McQueen is making doll clothes in his spare time.

What do you think of Kate Moss in these new Alexander McQueen ads? She certainly looks stunning at 40 in ads that are no doubt targeting women of a little younger age group. Will her appearance in them result in the kind of sales the fashion mogul is expecting?

  • Dakota Fanning transitions into a young lady

If you are an avid chick flick fan like myself, you probably remember Dakota Fanning as Ray, from her role in Uptown Girls in 2003, or her role in War of the Worlds in 2005. This probably depends on whatever your movie genre preference.

    Look familiar?

Now 19-year-old Dakota Fanning is showing off her more mature self, making an appearance at the 2013 Venice Film Festival at the Palazzo Del Cinema, on Saturday, August 31 in Venice, Italy. Dakota was wearing a ravishing midnight ball gown at the premiere for her role as Dena Brauer in Night Moves. Appearing with director Kelly Reichardt and her co-star, Jesse Eisenberg. Fanning wore a spectacular Elie Saab gown and Jimmy Choo shoes on the red carpet.

Earlier on Saturday, Reichardt, Eisenberg and Fanning were out for the film’s photo call held at the Palazzo de Casino. This time, Dakota dressed in an Alexander McQueen double-layered-skirt dress with eye-catching embroidery, and Rupert Sanderson heels.

Fanning was known for being so talented at such a young age, and taking challenging roles or that were out-of-the-box. Not just for the money. Now seeing her all grown up, Fanning viewers find it awkward seeing her, and how much she has changed from a youthful child into a young lady, in a good way.

Her newest movie, Night Moves, has another upcoming preview date on September 8 at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada. Fanning also has two upcoming American films, The Last of Robin Hood and Every Secret Thing, which currently have no specific release dates in the U.S. One upcoming foreign film, Effie Gray, which is due to release in October 2013 in the UK.

If you’re like me, you will look forward to further appearances. Where some Hollywood children grow up, sometimes too fast and become not so “classy.” Fanning continues to show us that she is growing up beautifully and can hold her own.
