  • Aisha Tyler Will Join “Criminal Minds” For Season 11

Aisha Tyler will be the newest member of Behavior Analysis Unit on Criminal Minds for season 11.

Criminal Minds is losing both Jennifer Love Hewitt permanently and A.J. Cook for maternity leave and needed Aisha Tyler to fill those gaps.

Aisha Tyler, also a star of Archer and co-host of The Talk, will be portraying Dr. Tara Lewis. Dr. Lewis is described as a psychologist with an intense interest in forensic psychology and its use in the criminal justice system.

Aisha Tyler’s new role is explained in this way: “Her dream was to study psychopaths up close and personal – and her psychology background, combined with her experience in the FBI, brought her face-to-face with monsters. Her job was to stare them down and interview them, in order to determine if they were fit to stand trial. In the process, she made herself find the humanity inside these broken men (and, sometimes, women) in order to learn if there was a conscience behind their brutal crimes.”

Sounds like an interesting role for Aisha Tyler to play!

While Aisha Tyler is helping fill a gap left by Jennifer Love Hewitt, that doesn’t mean that Hewitt will never return.

Back in May, showrunner Erica Messer said, when asked if Hewitt could ever return in any capacity, “Yeah, we left it open creatively. Hotch says, ‘You always have a place here,’ and we believe that wholeheartedly off-screen as well. It was a great season and we had a lot of fun with her. One of the great things about our show is you can leave those doors open.”

She added, “We rarely kill anyone. That opportunity for paths to cross again is definitely open. Everybody is on board with that. Of course, no one has a crystal ball, so it’s hard to predict two years from now what’s going on—or a year from now. But it’s something we’d definitely creatively keep open.”

  • Aisha Tyler Fights For LGBT Equality As Mixed Race Marriage [Pic]

Aisha Tyler knows about the perils of trying to insist on marriage equality in our society. She is married to a white man, and that has caused her some difficulty in some places she has lived.

“When my husband and I were dating and living in Oakland, we used to get chased down the street,” Tyler said last year. “This was 20 years ago, not in the ’50s.”

Tyler described how moving into a more accepting community brought a tremendous relief to her and her husband. They moved to San Francisco after an experience in the gay community there.

“We came into the city on Pride Weekend, and were walking out of the Castro Muni station, when some seven-foot-tall gorgeous thing came running by in a thong, platforms and a headdress,” she shared. “Nobody even blinked an eye. I thought, ‘Ain’t nobody going to look at us over here!’”

Ever since then, Aisha Tyler has been a huge supporter of marriage equality for all. As a result, she was honored at the West Coast Liberty Awards last week. Tyler’s speech at that event has gone viral.

Tyler speaks of the bravery that it takes to be yourself in a society that seems bent on denying you that right.

“I am here because I believe in love, in all its magical and transformative forms. I believe in freedom. The freedom to be the architect of our own destinies. The uniquely American principle that we all deserve to pursue happiness, in our own specific and personal way. I believe in bravery. The bravery to live one’s truth, no matter how terrifying, no matter how vilified. The bravery to choose how we will define ourselves, and to never let others do it for us. I believe in strength, the strength to fight for what is right, for oneself, and for others, even when one doesn’t feel particularly strong or particularly brave.”

Like so many before her, Tyler’s words took on the language of the Civil Rights Era activists who fought for equality for her.

“I believe in the slow, unstoppable, inevitable march to freedom. The march we are all making, together, hand in hand, climbing upon the backs of so many others who have come before, who have fought, and screamed, and cried, and died, so that we can all be here tonight on the precipice of an extraordinary moment in our history — a moment when people around the world are still fighting, and voting, and crying, and dying to make sure that all human beings live with dignity, respect, and the most basic of human rights, liberty. We have all fought so that people of color, and women, and interracial couples, and gays and so many others can live a life free from enslavement, coercion, restriction, or judgement. A life filled with freedom, filled with choice, filled with possibility, filled with love.”

“I believe in love. I believe it is worth fighting for. This is what I am fighting for. This is what we are all fighting for. Thank you Lambda for this honor, but respectfully, it’s not for me. It’s for everyone of us. Never stop believing. Never stop working. Never stop fighting. Thank you.”

Sara Gilbert And Linda Perry Say “I Do”

We will have to wait until next Monday to get all the juicy details surrounding Sara Gilbert’s wedding to former 4 Non Blondes singer and music producer Linda Perry. However, Gilbert’s The Talk co-hosts couldn’t hold back a few remarks. Julie Chen said on Monday’s show, “Let’s get started with a big congratulations for our own Sara Gilbert, who got married last night. It was magical. It was the most beautiful ceremony.”

Co-host Aisha Tyler agreed, “Amazing, amazing night. Beautiful, and it was at sunset and overlooking the ocean.” Then she remembered that the crew was going to let Gilbert talk about the ceremony after she returns to the show next week following her honeymoon. “I mean, we can’t tell too much about it because we want Sara to talk about it.”

The Roseanne actress, 39, has been engaged to Perry, 48, since April 2013. Gilbert who admits to normally being a shy and reserved person, gushed last year on the The Talk when describing how Perry proposed, “It’s like the most amazing proposal ever.” She added, “I’m sitting there listening and I’m kind of daydreaming and I’m thinking like, ‘If I ever proposed to her this would be an amazing way to do it.’ The people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket, walk over and they start playing [The Cure’s] Lovesong.”

Gay weddings are currently legal in 17 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, New Mexico and Hawaii, and Washington DC.

  • Aisha Tyler Spills Secret About “Archer” Character

Aisha Tyler opened up recently about her character on “Archer”, Lana Kane, and spilled a little secret about what Kane has been up to and what season 5 holds in store.

Kane turned up pregnant in this week’s season premiere, and while Tyler knows enough not to give away any big secrets, she did throw out a tantalizing hint that not everything is as it seems.

“I might know who the father is, I can’t tell you,” she said. “(But) she didn’t get pregnant by accident.”

Tyler hosted the 19th annual Critic’s Choice Awards this week, earning praise for her skills onstage and for her shoutout to Tom Hanks, who got a snub from the Oscars this year, much to the outrage of his fans.

“I would never snub you,” she told Hanks.

Tyler is a well-known busy lady, dividing her time between hosting several shows, acting, and writing as well as serving on a panel on the CBS daytime show “The Talk”.

“I love to work,” Tyler has said. “I grew up poor. It was a good time, but I’m not interested in going back. And I’m going to try to add more jobs to that list. I want to wake up, look back and think, ‘God! I did a lot of stuff.”

  • Ubisoft Puts Aisha Tyler in Watch Dogs, Kills Her

Ubisoft loves Aisha Tyler. The comedian/actress has hosted the game publisher’s big E3 conferences for two years running, a fact the company joked about in the weeks leading up to this year’s E3. Now, Ubisoft has gone a step closer and put their unofficial spokesperson into one of their games.

A new video released today features Tyler as a character in the upcoming Watch Dogs. The comedian’s in-game persona is pursued by the game’s main character, Aiden Pearce, and then meets an unfortunate end:

As you can see, the video also serves as a warning against walking while talking on a cell phone. Tyler was too distracted discussing futuristic password pills to jump out of the way of the massive garbage truck that was quite obviously the instrument of her assassination.

For those who are curious, the profile of Tyler shown in the video reads:

    Tyler, Aisha
    Under DedSec surveillance.
    Gamer and bourbon enthusiast.
Occupation: Comedian, Actor, Talk Show Host, Author
    Income: $4,294,967,200

$4.2 billion? The CW might be overpaying a bit for Whose Line.

  • Aisha Tyler Will Host Ubisoft’s E3 Press Conference Again

Ubisoft always has the best E3 press conference. This is an unmistakable fact. While she wasn’t quite as insane as 2011’s Mr. Caffeine, Aisha Tyler did a bang up job hosting last year. Ubisoft seemed to like her enough that they’re bringing her back as the host of this year’s press conference as well.

Alongside confirming that Tyler is back, Ubisoft released a teaser today that hints at what it will be showing at its E3 press conference this year. It’s obvious that we’ll see more Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and Watch Dogs, but there’s a few other hints for some not so obvious games as well.

The Cartman figurine on the desk pretty much confirms that Ubisoft will be showing off South Park: The Stick of Truth at E3 after buying the rights from THQ earlier this year. The Vaas bobblehead may indicated that we’ll be getting some more Far Cry 3 content.

I may be reading too much into this, but does the brief cameo of Professor Farnsworth on the monitor indicate that we’ll be getting a new Futurama game in the future? Probably not, but it’s nice to dream.

Ubisoft’s E3 press conference is set for June 10 at 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST. There will, of course, be plenty of live streams for those watching at home.
