  • Adrian Peterson Appeals NFL Suspension

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is in New York this week to appeal his NFL suspension. According to an ABC News report, Peterson believes assurances he received from NFL executives stating that his suspension would be short could convince the NFL to alter the suspension.

On November 18 the NFL announced that Peterson had been suspended without pay for at least the rest of the 2014 season. The suspension stems from child abuse charges that were filed against Peterson earlier this year.

On September 12 Peterson was indicted on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child. In early November the NFL star settled the charges by pleading no contest to one charge of misdemeanor reckless assault. Peterson had expected the plea deal to resolve his professional difficulties but is now facing an indefinite suspension.

Shortly after he was indicted Peterson released a statement making it clear that, as advised by his lawyers, he will not be discussing the case publicly. Peterson did state, however, that he “never intended” to injure his son and that he was practicing a form of discipline that was used on himself as a child. From the statement:

I have learned a lot and have had to reevaluate how I discipline my son going forward. But deep in my heart I have always believed I could have been one of those kids that was lost in the streets without the discipline instilled in me by my parents and other relatives. I have always believed that the way my parents disciplined me has a great deal to do with the success I have enjoyed as a man. I love my son and I will continue to become a better parent and learn from any mistakes I ever make.

The ordeal has put Peterson’s professional football career in jeopardy and has caused other difficulties for the athlete. Like fellow NFL star Ray Rice, Peterson has lost his Nike sponsorship deal.

Peterson’s suspension marks yet another scandal for the star running back. On October 11, 2013 Peterson’s son, whom he had never met, was beaten and later died. More recently Peterson has been accused of misusing charity funds.

  • Adrian Peterson Loses Nike Sponsorship Following Plea

Nike has ditched Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

“Adrian Peterson is no longer a Nike athlete,” said a Nike spokesperson in a very brief statement.

Peterson’s Nike deal was already suspended, following the star’s indictment. In September, a grand jury indicted Peterson on felony charges of reckless injury to a child. Police accused Peterson of injuring his four-year-old son with a switch.

Earlier this week, Peterson pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault. He’ll be fined $4,000, given 80 hours of community service to perform, and will be placed on probation. He’ll avoid jail time.

It looks like Nike was waiting for the whole this to be resolved before coming to a definite conclusion regarding Peterson’s future with the company. But now, will the case pretty much wrapped up, Nike is dropping the high-profile athlete.

Of course, the legal side of things is only part of Peterson’s troubles. His future in the NFL is now in the hands of commissioner Roger Goodell. Peterson, of course, wants to start playing again as soon as possible – but the NFL has already declined his request for immediate reinstatement.

At this point, whether or not Peterson sees the field this season is completely up in the air.

As for Nike, this is the second NFL athlete it has been forced to part ways with. Nike terminated a deal they had with former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice after that video emerged showing him knocking out his then-fiancee in an elevator.

  • Is Adrian Peterson’s 2014 Season Over? He Reportedly Doesn’t Think So

Adrian Peterson may be done for the 2014 NFL season.

However, he reportedly hasn’t come to grips with the strong possibility that he may not play again this season and his career in the NFL is now uncertain. According to ESPN, Peterson’s future with the Minnesota Vikings is quite “bleak.”

NFL commentator Chris Mortensen has even predicted that his future with the Vikings may be over regardless of whether or not he’s found guilty of the alleged child abuse charges.

Even if his opts for a plea deal, the NFL is still expected to hit him with a harsh punishment.

For those who missed it, Peterson was arrested last weekend on child abuse charges due to how he reportedly disciplined his son. Now, he’s been placed on the NFL’s exempt list until the case is resolved.

Although the predictions about his future are quite grim, Peterson reportedly “doesn’t get it.” The accusations about Peterson’s perspective began circulating on Friday, September 19 when he tweeted about taking a lie detector test.

Apparently, Peterson feels passing the lie detector test will play a dominant part in the league’s decision about his future this season. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. The Vikings reportedly do not foresee a future with the six-time Pro Bowler.

So, what would cutting Peterson mean for the Vikings? The answer is $56 million. Spotrac recently broke down the details of the 29-year-old running back’s contract.

He’s already three years into his lengthy six-year, $96 million contract. The Vikings have reportedly shelled out approximately $36 million, thus far, which means they still owe him around $56 million. So, if they decide to terminate his contract, that’s about how much they’d save.

Peterson’s future in the NFL depends on how the case is resolved.

  • Ray McDonald Arrested As NFL Works To Repair Image

The events of the past few weeks have shined a rather uncomfortable light on both the National Football League and all sports fans.

Many fans find themselves forced to review how highly they prioritize being entertained by people worshiped as heroes and demigods. They have also confronted the reality that these individuals are human and often fallible.

Sometimes these players are fallible in ways that make ANY positive support offered to them, on or off the field, utterly tasteless.

Most importantly, NFL fans are now examining the terrible example long set by the league as to how NFL players guilty of criminal and deviant behaviors are treated.

The league has long been criticized for hypocrisy, inefficiency, and even accused of being far too forgiving of criminal offenders within their ranks.

Fortunately the back-to-back domestic abuse scandals involving Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, and now Ray McDonald have forced the NFL to act, and act immediately.

With this light shining so brightly on how the National Football League treats such serious and disturbing matters, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was left with no alternative but to update the league’s policies regarding acts of domestic violence.

Players found guilty of a single act of domestic violence will be banned for six weeks. A second offense results in banishment from the league. It is possible for the player to petition for reinstatement, but he must wait a full year.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald was arrested a few weeks ago for an incident of domestic violence involving his fiance. She showed bruises to police that she alleged were caused by McDonald.

It’s not known how the 49ers will respond in the future, but they have not moved to remove the player from their roster and he is presently available to play. His situation has come into the spotlight thanks in large part due to the Ray Rice controversy.

In the meantime these incidents and the response by NFL teams and the league itself will continue to be a source of major contention and discussion.

Since domestic violence is a topic that few people willingly participate in, these events are good for bringing this serious and widespread problem to the attention of a much larger global audience.

  • Adrian Peterson Banned from Team Activities as Vikings Reverse Course

Just a couple of days after announcing plans to reinstate star running back Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings have reversed course.

Peterson has been placed on the exempt/commissioner’s permission list, which will bar him from all team activities until further notice. The Vikings say this will allow Peterson to “take care of his personal situation until the legal proceedings are resolved.”

“We are always focused on trying to make the right decision as an organization. We embrace our role – and the responsibilities that go with it – as a leader in the community, as a business partner and as an organization that can build bridges with our fans and positively impact this great region. We appreciate and value the input we have received from our fans, our partners and the community,” said Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf in a statement.

“While we were trying to make a balanced decision yesterday, after further reflection we have concluded that this resolution is best for the Vikings and for Adrian. We want to be clear: we have a strong stance regarding the protection and welfare of children, and we want to be sure we get this right. At the same time we want to express our support for Adrian and acknowledge his seven-plus years of outstanding commitment to this organization and this community. Adrian emphasized his desire to avoid further distraction to his teammates and coaches while focusing on his current situation; this resolution accomplishes these objectives as well.”

News surfaced last week that Peterson has been indicted in Montgomery County, Texas on one felony count of reckless or negligent injury to a child stemming from an incident where Peterson reportedly whipped his four-year-old son with a switch. After that revelation, Peterson was deactivated from last Sunday’s game with the New England Patriots.

After the Vikings announced their decision to reinstate Peterson on Monday, the team began to face immediate blowback. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton called for his immediate suspension. The Radisson hotel chain suspended its sponsorship of the Vikings. The team, its owners, and the NFL also got an earful on social media.

“I am not a perfect son. I am not a perfect husband. I am not a perfect parent, but I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser,” said Peterson in response to the indictment. “I have to live with the fact that when I disciplined my son the way I was disciplined as a child, I caused an injury that I never intended or thought would happen.”

Just a few hours ago, Peterson posted this to Twitter:

Unless Peterson comes to a deal with prosecutors beforehand, he’ll next appear in court October 8th.

  • Cris Carter’s Emotional Stand on Domestic Abuse: ‘This Goes Across All Racial Lines, Ethnicities, Religious Backgrounds’

ESPN’s Cris Carter took an emotional stand Sunday against domestic abuse of any sort and said the NFL needs to take greater responsibility in ending the culture of domestic abuse in the NFL, thereby setting an example for the rest of the country.

“This goes across all racial lines, ethnicities, religious backgrounds,” Carter said Sunday on NFL Countdown, at times coming close to tears.

“People believe in disciplining their children. People with any type of Christian background, they really believe in disciplining their children.

“My mom did the best job she could do. Raising seven kids by herself. But there are thousands of things that I have learned since then that my mom was wrong. It’s the 21st century. My mom was wrong. She did the best she could, but she was wrong about some of that stuff she taught me. And I promise my kids I won’t teach that mess to them. You can’t beat a kid to make them do what you want them to do.”

Carter didn’t elaborate on how he was raised, but suggests that his single mother used some form of corporal punishment as a method of discipline.

Fellow panelist Mike Ditka took a different stand on disciplining children, saying physical abuse as a child made him a better man.

Carter said the Vikings’ suspension of Adrian Peterson — following his indictment on one count of injury to a child after striking his four-year-old son with a switch in May — was one of the first positive steps taken during one of the darkest weeks in NFL history.

“Thousands of things we have learned since then. And now we’re to the point, the only thing I am proud about is the team that I played for, they did the right thing. Take him off the field,” said the former Vikings’ wide receiver.

“As a man, that’s the only thing we respect. We don’t respect no dang women. We don’t respect no kids. The only thing Roger [Goodell] and them can do … take them off the dang field.”

  • Adrian Peterson Will Sit Out During Final Game Of Season

As someone who is no stranger to injuries, Adrian Peterson has missed a number of games throughout his career. He will be forced to sit out during the final game of the season when the Minnesota Vikings play the Detroit Lions.

Unfortunately, neither team has anything to play for in the week 17 finale showdown in the NFC North. The Detroit Lions are now 7-8 after starting the season on top of the division and a record of 6-3 earlier in the year, while the Vikings have a record of 4-10-1, and have remained at the bottom of the standings throughout the season.

Adrian Peterson has been one of the top running backs in the league in the past few years, despite his multiple injuries, and has been named MVP.

However, with a star running back and not much else to work with on the offensive end for the Vikings, they have struggled to win during the 2013 season.

Peterson is being troubled in multiple places, which will force him to sit out, including a strained groin that he suffered last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, and a foot injury that he suffered earlier this month.

Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier has said that if the coaching staff felt like he was ready, then he would be out there, but he is not in the right shape to be playing. Just two weeks ago, he played in a game against the Eagles, finishing with an odd stat line, rushing 30 different times for only 51 yards, and scoring 3 touchdowns.

Adrian Peterson seemed to start the season off on a high note, with an impressive performance against the Detroit Lions earlier in the season, despite the loss.

He had also stated that he had a goal of hitting the mark of 2,500 yards on the season, a mark that he did not even come close to. The awful record for the Minnesota Vikings, as one of the worst teams in the league, is yet another disappointment in Peterson’s season.

He has continually battled multiple injuries during the season, which has limited his production on the field. In the 2013 season, he has rushed for 1,266 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 279 carries.

While this may seem like a lot for some running backs in the league, it is actually his second-lowest yardage total of Peterson’s career, behind only his injury-plagued 2011 campaign. Hoewever, he was still voted to the Pro Bowl somehow.

In addtion to Adrian Peterson, their star running back, Toby Gerhart will also be sidelined during their final game of the season. As a result, fans will see Matt Asiata take the field on Sunday against the Lions, in a game that neither team is looking forward to.

  • New York Giants Get Their First Win

New York Giants Get Their First Win

After an embarrassing start to the season, the New York Giants have finally found a way to get their first win of the season. The Giants defeated a Vikings team that is also struggling. Eli Manning, the quarterback for the Giants, has had trouble finding the end-zone all year, and also has the most interceptions of any quarterback in the league. They finished the game with a final score of 23-7.

After starting the season 0-6, many people were wondering if the Giants would get a single win all season. They have finally done that with a win on Monday night, a team they were most likely to beat. While this does not say a lot for the Giants since the Vikings have also had troubling winning this season, it is a good first step. The Vikings lack almost all offense other than their all-star Adrian Peterson, and just recently signed quarterback Josh Freeman with the hopes of fixing their problem.

The Giants were efficient in their win, and did what they needed to do in order to beat a Vikings team that had only won one game all season. The defense stepped up, which really helped, holding Adrian Peterson to only 28 yards, just days after his son was tragically killed. After giving up a league high number of 209 points in the season, the Giants were able to force a defensive shutout and not allowing any offensive points in the game.

While some players could be completely drained based on a poor performance that they have given so far in the season, Manning has stayed strong and said after the win, “We just had to keep going, get rid of some of the mistakes and play the way we need to play.”

Manning, who leads the league in interceptions, did not throw an interception all game. He finished the game 23 of 39 for 200 yards. The New York Giants had 3 takeaways to just one lost fumble in the game. The only points the Vikings were able to put up throughout the game were on a 86-yard punt return, which came late in the first quarter. The touchdown gave them the lead at the time.

Next week, the Giants play against the Eagles in a NFC East division match-up.

  • Adrian Peterson Expected to Play vs. Panthers

It’s been a whirlwind week for Minnesota Vikings’ star running back, Adrian Peterson. He and his family were scheduled to meet his two-year-old son for the first time at the end of this month. Unfortunately, a tragic turn of events changed the dynamic of everything when the child died on Friday.

However, Peterson intends to forge on in today’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Earlier this morning, NFL.com reported that Media Insider, Ian Rapoport spoke on the NFL Network’s “NFL GameDay Morning” in regards to Peterson’s status. Rapoport stated that Peterson will play for the Vikings in today’s game. Vikings officials also confirmed that Peterson is classified as active.

While Peterson was absent from practice on Thursday in wake of the accident, he did return to the Vikings’ facility on Friday. He also issued a brief statement of address that afternoon.
“I should start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans (and) the Vikings organization,” Peterson said. “This is a private matter, and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks.” The running back also indicated that he planned to play today, but it had not yet been confirmed.

For those who missed it earlier this week, Peterson’s two-year-old son was allegedly beaten by his mother’s love interest, Joseph Robert Patterson. The child sustained severe head injuries after being struck in the head with a steel rod. Paramedics reported that the boy was in ‘grave condition’ upon their arrival.

On Friday morning the child was removed from life support. At 11:43am, he died at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Patterson was arrested, and will face charges for aggravated assault and battery of an infant. The prosecution has stated that Patterson, 27, has a history of child abuse, as he had harmed the child once before. He was also convicted with similar charges after beating another child from a previous relationship.

Amid the child’s untimely death, Peterson chimed in on Twitter with a few messages to the NFL and fans thanking them for their support during this time of bereavement.

  • Adrian Peterson’s Son Dies from Alleged Assault

It was a tragic ending to an even more tragic incident. It has been reported that the 2-year-old son of Vikings football star, Adrian Peterson, has passed away after sustaining a beating from his mother’s boyfriend.

27-year-old, Joseph Robert Patterson, who has been dating the child’s mother, is in jail on a $750,000 bail. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery on an infant. If charged, he could face 40 years in prison and an $80,000 fine.

According to CNN, Patterson called the police at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday to report a child was choking in his Sioux Falls apartment. After the child was rushed to the hospital and examined, it was determined that he had sustained damage to his head that was consistent with abuse.

“This is an absolute tragedy,” South Dakota, State’s Attorney Tom Wollman said on Friday, “and the parents and the extended family are suffering greatly.”

Peterson did not elaborate on the situation, but did say, “I want to start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans, the Vikings organization. This is a private matter and I would ask y’all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand.”

He also took to Twitter to thank all of his family, friends, and fellow players for their support during this difficult time.

  • Adrian Peterson’s Son Dies After Being Assaulted

It has been reported that Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son died in South Dakota today because of injuries related to child abuse. The child, whose name hasn’t been released, was hospitalized on Wednesday and died earlier Friday evening.

A man the child’s mother was dating, Joseph Robert Patterson of Sioux Falls, was arrested and charged with assaulting an infant, charges that should be upgraded now that the child has passed. According to Argus Leader, the child was transported to the hospital after a 911 call came in reporting that he was “choking.”

Officials say it was obvious the child’s injuries weren’t accidental and were the result of abuse. The Argus Leader said the death “involves blows, shaking or causing a child’s head to sustain impact with an object in a manner that causes bleeding or swelling on the brain. The crime is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.”

“This is a private matter and I’m just going to ask you all to respect my privacy, and that’s all I’m going to say about the situation,” Peterson said after practice Friday before his son died.

The Argus Leader also reports that this isn’t the first time Patterson has been arrested for assault. He was previously arrested for assaulting another woman and her three-year-old child in 2012. According to the three-year-old’s mom, Patterson spanked her three-year-old so hard that he needed ice for welts on his behind. The woman also said that Patterson threatened to kill her several times.

Patterson was sentenced with a one-year term on both charges, but his jail sentence was suspended.

  • Adrian Peterson’s Two-Year-Old Son Dies

    Adrian Peterson’s Two-Year-Old Son Dies

Several news sources have reported that the two-year-old son of Minnesota Viking’s running back Adrian Peterson died on Friday. The boy allegedly passed from injuries sustained from an assault by his mother’s boyfriend, 27-year-old Joseph Patterson. The report has been confirmed by police who are currently not releasing the name of the child at the family’s request.

Mr. Patterson is presently being charged with aggravated assault and battery, although additional charges are being considered by the police. The assault is alleged to have taken place on Wednesday when Patterson called for help claiming that the young boy was choking. However, officers found the toddler unresponsive and he was taken to a local hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. According to Police Spokesman, Sam Clemens, officials concluded that the boy suffered a head injury that is “consistent with abuse.” Mr. Clemens also stated that the boy’s mother was not under investigation.

Peterson told the media during a press conference today, “I really appreciate all the support that I’ve been receiving from fans, the Vikings organization. This is a private matter and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks.” Peterson also went on to say that he would playing football on Sunday.

The All-Pro player, who is widely considered the best running back in football today, expressed his gratitude on his personal Twitter account for all the support he has received.

  • Adrian Peterson Impresses Fans, Still Loses To Lions

Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Viking running back, picked up right where he left off in the 2012 season. Last year, Peterson won the MVP trophy after rushing for over 2,000 yards on 348 attempts. Peterson is a graduate of Oklahoma and has been in the league for seven years. For much of last season especially, Peterson accounted for much of the Vikings’ offense, and they have struggled against their opponents on a number of occasions.

The Vikings are in the NFC North along with the Packers, Bears and Lions and today marked their first regular season game of the year. They match-up against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings lost the game with a final score of 34-24.

The Lions have had a number of troubles in recent years as well, but seem to be getting their groove back with the help of their star receiver, Calvin Johnson. In Peterson’s season debut against the Lions, he rushed 18 times for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns. He later received a touchdown through the air, which was their final score, coming in the third quarter. He clearly started the game off on a positive note when he took his first run of the game for 78 yards and scored a touchdown, according to SB Nation. Just like last season, quarterback Christian Ponder struggled in week 1 and if that continues, the Vikings will be forced to rely on Peterson for much of their offense again.

The 78 yard rush put Peterson just six yards away from his week 1 total in 2012. He is also off to a much more powerful start this year, since it took him until week 3 to reach 100 yards in a single game, coming only 7 yards shy of that mark during this performance.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxMm_M1b4WY

Peterson looks to lead the league in rushing once again and has said that his goal is to get 2,500 rushing yards this year, according to the LA Times. In last year’s MVP winning season, he was just nine yards short of setting the NFL single-season rushing record. If he is determined to hit the mark of 2,500 rushing yards, then he needs to rush for about 160.5 yards per game in the remaining games in the season. Although, to break the single-season rushing record held by Eric Dickerson, he only needs to average 134.2 yards per game.

  • Adrian Peterson Flattered By Steroid Rumors

Anyone who has seen Adrian Peterson without a shirt on knows that he has muscles on top of larger muscles. In the steroid era of major sports such a physique is quick to draw presumptions about how the athlete was able to reach that point. Unlike other athletes however, Peterson welcomes the rumors and even finds them flattering.

In an interview with USA today the star running back was very candid about the situation:

“Seriously. Especially with the amount of work I put in. Guys say that to me, or if I hear someone saying that — it makes me feel good. When you know you don’t do it, and someone’s saying you do, you’re like, ‘Wow. They think I’m on HGH? I’m doing that good? Well, hoo! Thank you, Jesus!’ It’s a compliment. I don’t get mad about it at all.”

Rumors are no surprise considering that Peterson almost broke the NFL season rushing record last year despite missing the first game and returning shortly after injuring both his MCL and ACL. On top of that, he plans on rushing for what would be an NFL record of 2,500 yards this upcoming season.

While Peterson claims his body is all natural, he sees why others would turn to banned substances:

“People are trying to get the edge. The reality of it is, people are trying to provide for their families. People are trying to keep their spot on the rosters. If it’s something they can use that’s not going to show up, they’re going to use it.”

  • Adrian Peterson On Gay Marriage: “I’m Not With That”

Adrian Peterson of Minnesota Vikings recently gave his opinion on gay marriage during a radio interview.

Fox News reports that Peterson was on a Sirius XM radio interview when the hosts asked what he thought about gay marriage. In short, he personally doesn’t believe in gay marriage, but he’s not going to stand in the way either. He also says that he has no ill will towards gays as some people in his family identify as such. He says that he loves them all the same:

“To each his own, (but) I’m not with it. I have relatives that are gay. I’m not bias towards them. I still treat them the same. I love them. But, again, I’m not with that. That’s not something I believe in. But to each his own.”

The question originally came up in response to former Vikings teammate Chris Kluwe’s outspoken views on gay marriage. Kluwe is adamantly for gay marriage and made his opinion vocally known via numerous media outlets. He was later let go from the Vikings and many thought his political views were the reason. The official stance is that Kluwe wasn’t let go for his political views, and Peterson confirms that as well. He did say, however, that he was sad to see him go even if they had radically different political views.

  • Adrian Peterson Injury Probably Won’t Keep Him Out Of Packers Game

Adrian Peterson, running back for the Minnesota Vikings, is expected to break the longstanding NFL record for single-season rushing this season. Before that, however, he has to make sure he can play in his team’s upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers and an injury may prevent that.

The Washington Post reports that Peterson suffered an “abdominal injury” after the Vikings’ win over the Houston Texans. During that game, he finished with 86 yards on 25 carries. He now has a total of 1,898 yards and is close to becoming the seventh player to reach 2,000 rushing yards. He is also only 207 yards away from breaking the rushing record set in 1984.

That being said, Peterson must contend with an injury and an opposing team that will be throwing everything they have at him. Speaking to the Star Tribune, Packers’ cornerback Sam Shields said he has nothing but respect for Peterson, but that his team “need[s] to stop him.” Other Packers’ players have expressed similar sentiments of respect, but a greater desire to stop him so the Packers can secure a first-round playoff bye. The Packers’ running back, DuJuan Harris, said that the rushing record couldn’t go to a better person though.

You’ll be able to catch the Vikings-Packers game on December 30 at 4:25 p.m. We might just see history happen if Peterson fully recovers by then.

  • Adrian Peterson, Vikings RB, Rushed To Hospital

Adrian Peterson, running back for the Minnesota Vikings, was rushed to the E.R. on Monday afternoon, but not for something that happened on the field. Unfortunately, Peterson wasn’t aware of a seafood allergy that got scary real quick after he ate shrimp for lunch.

Some people break out in hives after eating something they’re allergic to, but others aren’t so lucky; certain foods, such as peanuts or shellfish, as well as insect stings, can cause the body to go into anaphylactic shock. This in turn can cause swelling of the face and throat and restriction of the airways, and if it’s severe enough, death can occur.

Luckily for Peterson, his reaction wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but as anyone with a history of allergic reactions will tell you, it was a scary moment.

“I don’t know if any one of you has had anyone experience that, but yeah, it was scary,” said head coach Leslie Frazier. “But he’s fine now. Everything is fine.”

Unfortunately, Peterson has been on the injury list since December after undergoing surgery to his left knee, so if he’s feeling well enough this week to get back into things, it will only be physical therapy. He is, however, expected to make a full recovery.

  • Adrian Peterson Mugshot: Smile Like You Mean It

The Adrian Peterson fiasco continues to rock right along. Following reports that the Minnesota Vikings star was arrested at a Houston, Texas nightclub after scrapping with some off-duty police officers, Peterson enlisted the services of attorney Rusty Hardin, the man who defended Roger Clemens during that whole Congress/performance-enhancing drug situation. Even if Peterson didn’t do anything wrong, he’s going to make sure he has the best defense money can buy.

If you’re late to the party on this story, here’s what went down: Peterson was at a club in Houston around closing time. While security was attempting to push everyone out of the building, one guard/off-duty cop noticed Peterson heading back to the bar for some water. After telling the NFL star that he was to leave the premises, Peterson mouthed off and gave the guy a shove. Chaos promptly ensued, which resulted in the running back’s arrest. What’s more, it took the efforts of three officers to get Peterson under control.

For a shaky and almost incomprehensible video from the Peterson incident, take a look at the clip embedded below. It should give you a good idea of what was going on at the time:

Of course, it was only a matter of time before Peterson’s mugshot found its way online. As far as mugshots go, it’s actually not that bad. The fact that he’s smiling certainly adds to its appeal. In most cases, people look completely drained when they step in front of the camera for police. Adrian, on the other hand, looks like he’s having the time of his life.

  • Adrian Peterson Gets Arrested, Quotes Winston Churchill

Adrian Peterson, NFL star extraordinaire, recently got himself arrested following an altercation with off-duty police officers at a nightclub in Houston, Texas. Sports Illustrated reports that Peterson was attempting to get some water right before the club was scheduled to close, an incident which caused the officers clearing out the joint to become more than a little irritated with the professional athlete. When Peterson was told that he had to leave the club at that very moment, the Minnesota Vikings’ running back decided he was sick and tired of being told what to do. This is where things get sketchy.

According to TMZ, Peterson was arrested after shoving one of the off-duty officers, who was working as a security guard at the club when the incident took place. After repeatedly reminding the football star to take a hike, Peterson allegedly yelled, “Hey man, we heard you the first time!” before turning his irritation into physical intimidation. It was around this time that Peterson was placed under arrest, though he didn’t go down without a fight.

Here’s the kicker: It took three officers to properly wrangle the NFL player, which I’m sure wasn’t fun for anyone involved. As always, someone in the club that night was armed with a camera, allowing them to capture the showdown on video. TMZ, of course, managed to get their hands on a copy, which you can find embedded below.

Details surrounding the arrest, as well as the charges currently levied against him, are few and far between at this moment in time. However, Peterson did recently take to Twitter to drop some knowledge courtesy of Winston Churchill.

Naturally, it didn’t take long for someone to cook up a zinger.

In order to defend himself against these charges, Peterson has hired attorney Rusty Hardin, the man who successfully defended baseball star Roger Clemens after Congress accused him of lying about using performance-enhancing drugs. Given that Hardin has experience representing professional athletes who have had brushes with the law, this might be a smart move on Peterson’s part. Assuming, of course, that he did something wrong.

  • NBA, NFL Lockouts Force Stars To Seek Other Employment

What in the world are star athletes going to do if the NBA and NFL player’s unions and owners can’t reach an agreement? Well, of course it will mean that they won’t be playing basketball and football, respectively. But it also means that they will be forced to seek other employment.

Recently, we saw that some NFL players like Ray Lewis and Desean Jackson have decided to take their football talents to Iowa to play in Taylor Lautner’s cornfield football league.

And other NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning have been forced to take their quarterback talents to the mean streets as they fight crime as Football Cops in a blockbuster event brought to you by DirecTV.

What this next batch of stars are being forced to do is a little less exciting than those career options.

Posted on The Blake Griffin YouTube Channel, this video takes the form of an infomercial with stars of both locked-out leagues selling themselves for menial work like swatting flies on the ceiling, filing documents and reaching high-up items for old people.

The video stars Adrian Peterson, Ron Artest (or should we say Metta World Peace), Kevin Love and of course Blake Griffin. We have already seen what Blake Griffin has been doing since the NBA lockout was announced. Shortly after it became official, Blake tweeted a short video of him planking on a flat cart as it moved across the Clipper’s gym floor.

The video, entitled “Lockout Profession” is quite awesome. It’s nice to see that some of the professional athletes involved in these labor disputes have enough of a sense of humor to step back and laugh at themselves. Check it out below –
