  • Dr. Luke Releases Statement About “Smear Campaign”, Adele Publicly Announces Support For Kesha

Dr. Luke, the producer currently entangled in a legal battle with singer Kesha, took to Twitter earlier this week to speak a bit about the allegations of rape and abuse leveled against him, then released a statement via his attorneys saying that Kesha is simply trying to extort money and renegotiate her contract. However, the pop star is gaining quite a bit of support from her female peers, including a very influential one: Adele.

Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, and several other stars have already voiced support for Kesha and have taken to social media to spread the word about the injustice they feel is being pushed upon her after a judge ruled that she must complete her contract with Sony–and, by extension, Dr. Luke–rather than be allowed out of it. Supporters say it’s ridiculous that a young woman should be made to work with her alleged rapist, but the new statement released by Luke’s lawyers insists that it’s “telling” that she didn’t report the sexual abuse when it happened.

“As Dr. Luke has said repeatedly, the allegations against him are outright lies that have been advanced to extort a contract renegotiation and money. Kesha and her counsel have cavalierly subjected Dr. Luke and his family to trial by Twitter, using a vicious smear campaign to ruin his reputation for financial gain while failing to support their claims…tellingly, Kesha never reported any purported abuse or rape to any law enforcement authority, or even to Sony Music, and further swore under oath in another matter, while accompanied by her team of lawyers, that it never occurred. The goal of Kesha’s counsel throughout has been to obtain a more lucrative contract through a shameless campaign of outrageous claims they will never stand behind in a court of law,” the statement read.

Adele has now joined the cadre of musicians in support of the young singer, publicly announcing it at the Brit Awards on Wednesday. The move is seen as a bold one, since Adele is also under the Sony label.

  • Emma Stone Attends Adele Concert With Jennifer Lawrence

Emma Stone attended an Adele concert in L.A. on Friday night, putting the group of three friends in the same setting for the second time since November.

It was just a few months back that Emma Stone, Adele, and Jennifer Lawrence all had dinner together in New York City, much to the chagrin of young women everywhere, who so wished they could be part of this unique mix of girlfriends.

Other A-list attendees at Adele’s concert included Woody Harrelson, Tom Hanks, and Rita Wilson, but it’s likely none received the whispers and looks of admiration Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence got.

Earlier this month, Lawrence talked about her friendship with both Emma Stone and Adele in an interview with Glamour magazine.

“I love Emma. She cracks me up; she’s so ‘theater.’ She’s so adorable,” Lawrence said. “Adele and I met, like, a year or so ago. Adele and I are a bit harsher; Emma’s never had a bad thought about anybody in her life. It’s so weird; I don’t like new people. But these two women–and Amy Schumer–they’re really lovely. And they’re so normal. I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends–my friends that don’t give a f–k about what I do.”

Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, and Adele are certainly a diverse trio of friends. How much fun do you suppose it might be to be included in one of their adventures?

  • Quit Smoking: Adele Reveals The Reason She Made The Bold Move And Why You Should, Too

Quit smoking. Adele did it and so can you.

Adele recently announced that she has quit smoking, taken her last puff, and her reasons are not uncommon.

Of course there’s her voice, which makes her untold amounts of money each year. But, that’s not even the main reason she gave to quit smoking.

She said, “If I’d carried on smoking, I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness, and I think that’s really bad.”

She added, “If I was dying from lung cancer, I would have potentially given it to myself, and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of.”

So, death. That’s a pretty good reason to quit smoking.

In fact, the CDC states that smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the US and it can cause cancer in just about any part of your body, not just your lungs.

Smoking also harms nearly every organ in your body, from heart and lungs to kidneys and even your eyes. And of course, the damage to your skin and teeth is almost always apparent.

Adele stated that she wants to be around for her son.

She said, “I absolutely loved it, but it’s not that f–king cool when I’m dying from a smoking-related illness and my kid is, like, devastated.”

If you do quit smoking, here’s what happens: You will cut cardiovascular risks. In fact, in just one year after quitting, your risk for a heart attack drops sharply. Within two to five years after you quit smoking, your risk for stroke could fall to about the same as a nonsmoker’s.

Also, if you quit smoking, your risks for cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and bladder drop by half within only five years.

And in ten years after you quit smoking, your risk for lung cancer drops by half.

What do you think? New Year’s resolution time is upon us. Can you quit smoking in 2016?

  • Adele Tickets Cause Major Disappointment for “Hello” Singer’s Fans

Adele tickets–or the lack thereof–have left many of the “Hello” singer’s fans beyond disappointed.

According to a report from Billboard magazine, Adele tickets went on sale Thursday for her American tour, but they were pretty much snapped up in an instant.

Fans are disgusted that many of the Adele tickets were purchased by scalpers who plan to resell them.

Ticketmaster reports that their website didn’t crash, as some who tried to procure Adele tickets believed. They did admit that due to the incredibly high volume of traffic, the website was significantly slowed down.

On Thursday approximately 1,000 Adele tickets were available on StubHub. They ranged in price from a high of $10,000 to a low of $245.

Adele and her ticket sales team did their best to avoid scalpers getting their hands on tickets. When her European tour tickets went on sale, fans had to first register on her website. 500,00 complied. 57,000 Adele tickets were purchased in this manner.

Were you among those who tried to score Adele tickets for her upcoming American tour? Did you get tickets? Will you try to buy them from scalpers or on a site like StubHub?

  • Jordan Smith: “The Voice” Contestant Trumps Adele on iTunes, Advances to “Voice” Finale

Jordan Smith, one of Adam Levine’s contestants on The Voice, beat out Adele on iTunes with his rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” as performed on Monday night’s show.

Prior to Smith’s trending performance, Adele held the top spot with her new hit song “Hello.”

“I don’t need to say anything at all because that’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” Adam Levine said following Smith’s performance. He was also fist pumping as Jordan Smith belted out the tune, accompanied by a large gospel choir.

It was just 30 minutes after Jordan Smith’s performance that his version of the Queen hit dethroned Adele, who had been in the number one spot for five weeks.

The excitement continues for Jordan Smith. On Tuesday’s episode of The Voice, he learned he has been voted on to the finale as one of four remaining contestants.

Jordan Smith is from Harlan, Kentucky. He is a 21-year-old Lee University student who loves performing in his school’s choir.

Smith has nothing but wonderful things to say about his coach, Adam Levine.

“He is super involved as a coach,” he told People magazine recently. “That’s not an act. He was just talking to us about our next song choices and takes the time to listen through songs and find the right fit for us.”

Jordan Smith says he’d love to win, but that he’d be thrilled for any of his fellow contestants should they take the top spot instead.

“We have grown close,” he said. “I’d be thrilled to win myself, but just as thrilled for one of these ladies or anyone on any of the other teams to win. I think this is a great opportunity and everyone here is deserving of it.”

Did you catch Jordan Smith’s performance on The Voice Monday night? If so, you’re likely not surprised at all to learn he is one of the final four contestants.

Do you think Jordan Smith will win this season of The Voice?

  • Britney Spears And Adele Have Love For Each Other; Brit Posts Tribute

Britney Spears and Adele have both professed mutual admiration for one another, but Britney took it one step further recently with a video she posted on Instagram in tribute to the best-selling singer.

Spears shared a short video of herself doing pump turns in grainy black and white while Adele’s hit “Hello” plays, and captioned it with a shoutout to her fellow crooner.

“I could dance to this song a MILLION times…love you @adele!” Britney wrote.

I could dance to this song a MILLION times…love you @adele!

A video posted by Britney Spears (@britneyspears) on

The love isn’t one-sided, however; Adele said in a recent interview with NPR that she doesn’t understand why some fans get so crazed in her presence, because it’s not like she’s Britney Spears or something.

“I find that most people feel quite relaxed around me. I’ve met a couple that, have been a bit hysterical — like, uncontrollable shaking and stuff like that. But I’m like, ‘C’mon. Stop it. It’s just me. I’m not Britney. What’re you doing?’…Britney is the queen.”

Do we smell a duet in the works?

Meanwhile, Britney is hard at work in Las Vegas, where she recently signed on to continue her residency for quite a bit longer. Spears has had a major comeback in recent years after suffering a breakdown, and these days she’s focusing on her career and her sons following a painful breakup. Earlier this year, she took a break from the stage to appear on the hit show Jane The Virgin, where she displayed some comedic skills few knew she had.

“She definitely got comedy chops like nobody’s business, and to go head-to-head with Jaime [Camil] is like, the ultimate challenge for a comedic actress because he’s so incredible. She held her own and more. She was very, very good!” said star Gina Rodriguez.

Recently, she professed some love for Taylor Swift, as well, saying she thinks the young performer is wise beyond her years.

“I love Taylor Swift. I think she’s adorable. I love her music. Her music makes me so happy. She’s very level-headed. She’s a very, very smart girl, very wise,” Britney Spears said.

  • Sabrina Carpenter Will Give You Goosebumps, Covers Adele’s ‘Hello’

With an instant mega-hit like Adele’s “Hello,” a flurry of covers sprouting all over the Interwebs is to be expected. However, standing out from the crowd is a whole different feat altogether.

One such cover that has recently been getting a lot of praise and attention belongs to young actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter, who plays sassy tween Maya Hart in the Disney Channel TV series, Girl Meets World.

In a YouTube video that was uploaded Thursday last week, Sabrina Carpenter can be seen walking into a music studio, wearing her headphones, and expertly belting out the hit song effortlessly and with a great deal of emotion that hardly anyone would expect from a 16-year-old.

Sabrina Carpenter Delivers An Impressive Cover Of “Hello”

Adele’s style and dramatic flair were evident all throughout the video – the black-and-white filter, oversized fur coat, and expressive facial expressions of Sabrina Carpenter all captured the high degree of emotion that Adele’s music videos are known for.

Aside from doing song covers and starring in a hit Disney show, Sabrina Carpenter has also been actively recording her own original material. Her debut album, Eyes Wide Open, was released early this year to positive reviews.

‘Eyes Wide Open’ Is a Single Off Of Sabrina Carpenter’s Debut Album Of The Same Name

Sabrina Carpenter cites Adele one of her main musical influences, which comes as no surprise considering her affinity for putting her own spin on the British hit maker’s songs. Her cover of the song, “Set Fire To The Rain,” which was uploaded on YouTube in 2011, garnered more than 5 million views.

A Younger Sabrina Carpenter Covers Her Idol Adele

Joining Sabrina Carpenter in the list of favorite “Hello” covers around the world is South Korea’s Lydia Lee whose soulful rendition has fetched close to 14 million views in less than a month. Even well –known musicians like R&B singer Joe and pop star Demi Lovato have also put out their own covers as well.

  • Adele Pranks a Bunch of Adele Impersonators [VIDEO]

Adele is one of the biggest stars in the world, so it’s a little tough to go undercover and make herself unrecognizable.

But that’s exactly what she did for a recent TV special, and all in the name of a good prank.

Adele recently donned a prosthetic nose and chin and posed as Jenny, a nanny and aspiring Adele impersonator. She then went to an audition of sorts with a bunch of other Adele impersonators. I’m sure you can see where this is going. The shock when the group of impersonators discovers they are actually standing in the presence of their idol is amazing.

Check out this hilarious prank from the BBC special Adele At The BBC, hosted by Graham Norton.

Adele’s new album, 25, sold 2.3 million copies in its first three days. It’s only the second album since 1991 to sell more than 2 million copies in one week.

    I woke up like this!

  • Sarah Palin: Why Singer Adele Credits Her With Launching Her U.S. Superstardom

Sarah Palin is a big fan of singer Adele, and vice versa. Adele actually credits Palin for her superstardom here in the U.S.

The former Alaska governor recently signed a copy of her latest book for the “Rolling in the Deep” singer.

Using several song title puns, Sarah Palin got creative with the inscription.

“Adele, You look so great! So beautiful! So … Rumor Has It you recently threw me some credit for your amazing success – very kind coming from Someone Like You! Congrats on motherhood. Keep Setting Fire to the Rain. Love, your fan…Sarah Palin.”

So back to that superstardom. Why does Adele credit Sarah Palin with her success? Does Sarah Palin give voice lessons on the side?

It’s actually nothing like that, and has everything to do with coincidence instead.

Adele recently explained the situation during an interview with BBC One.

“The week I was doing Saturday Night Live, it was meant to be a normal week but the week after, Sarah Palin was supposed to do it,” Adele said of her 2008 SNL appearance.

“Because something came up in the campaign, she came and did the week I was doing it with Josh Brolin. So it was one of the most watched SNLs ever, and then it was two weeks before the Grammy ballot, which is when people decide what songs they want to maybe nominate, so, like, literally the stars aligned for me,” she continued.

Following that SNL appearance, Adele’s album “19” immediately shot all the way up to number one on iTunes. Shortly thereafter she was nominated for four Grammys–two of which she won.

“All thanks to Sarah Palin,” Adele said.

    Who knew?

Did you have any idea Adele credited Sarah Palin with at least part of her success in the U.S.?

Adele just happens to be tonight’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Will you be tuning in to hear her perform her latest hit, “Hello?”

  • Demi Lovato Performs Stunning Rendition of Adele’s “Hello”

Demi Lovato treated her fans at the 106.1 KISSFM Fall Ball in Seattle this weekend to her rendition of Adele’s new hit song “Hello.” She snuck the treat into her performance, between her own hit songs, including “Neon Lights,” “Heart Attack,” and “Cool for the Summer.”

Decked out in black leather, Demi Lovato belted out Adele’s new song, in what fans are calling an emotional performance.

They hit Twitter shortly thereafter, raving about it.

If you weren’t in Seattle this weekend to hear Demi Lovato sing, rest assured you’ll have more opportunities to catch her in concert coming up soon. She will be performing at several of the Jingle Ball concerts across the U.S. next month, then in June she goes on tour with Nick Jonas. The “Future Now Tour” features Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, and starts runs from June 24 to September 17.

If you’re an Adele fan, you’ll get to see her next month on TV. Her one-night performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall is set for Tuesday, but it is being recorded for airing on NBC–Adele Live in New York City–on December 14. This will be Adele’s first U.S. performance since 2011.

Check out Demi Lovato covering Adele’s “Hello” below.

  • Adele May Have Teased Upcoming New Song on British TV

Adele may have teased fans what something they’ve wanted for years now–a new song. In a clip that aired on British TV, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer sang in the background. The aclip ran as an ad during The X-Factor UK.

“Hello/ It’s me/ I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet/ To go over/ Everything,” Adele sang. “They say that time’s supposed to heal ya/ but I ain’t done much healing.”

It was this past August when reports said Adele planned to release new music four years after her 2011 hit album, “21.”

One Republic’s Ryan Tedder Tweeted just one word following the clip’s airing. Rumor has it Tedder, along with Pharrell Williams and Max Martin collaborated on tracks on Adele’s upcoming album.

Earlier in 2015, Reverb called Adele’s upcoming album one of 2015’s most anticipated.

Adele won six Grammy Awards for “21.” With Grammy season fast approaching, it would be perfect timing for her to release her new album–and right before the holidays, too.

Do you think that clip was teasing an upcoming Adele song?

How much longer do you expect fans will have to wait to find out for sure?

  • Donny Osmond Going Under the Knife, in Good Hands With Adele, Sam Smith Doctor

Donny Osmond has a bleeding lesion on his right vocal cord and will be having surgery to repair it. After a reasonable respite following the surgery, his voice will be good as new. The male half of the Donny & Marie singing duo–he and sister Marie Osmond are presently performing in Las Vegas–knows he’s in good hands because his surgeon has recently operated on other big names in the music world.

Dr. Steven M. Zeitel of Harvard Medical School is doing Donny Osmond’s surgery. He is the doctor who restored Adele back to fine singing order and recently operated on Sam Smith, too.

While this isn’t a life-threatening surgery, it is very serious, because for singers like Adele, Sam Smith, and Donny Osmond, it could be career ending if not done properly.

Given Dr. Zeitel’s previous successes, he was the obvious choice for Donny Osmond’s surgery.

Fans of Donny & Marie will be disappointed if they have tickets for the brother and sister act’s September shows. Shows for that month have been cancelled. However by October it is expected that Donny Osmond will be back in business and singing with his sister again.

Do you think singers like Donny Osmond, Adele, and Sam Smith are severely overworked? It’s only in recent years that bleeding on the vocal cords in popular singers has been prevalent in the news. Should some of these singers slow down a bit? Even if they don’t make quite as much money, perhaps they will enjoy better health, and not subject themselves to this serious vocal cord injury that is only corrected through surgery.

  • Miranda Lambert Need Same Vocal Surgery as Sam Smith, Adele?

Miranda Lambert hated to disappoint her fans waiting to see her at Calgary Stampede on Thursday night, but when you make a living with your voice, you protect it. Lambert’s doctor told her she needed to let it rest, so she did.

“I am so sorry that I can’t be at Stampede this week, but I’ll be back in Calgary just as soon as I can for all of my Stampede fans,” Lambert said in a statement.

“We understand that this news is disappointing for fans,” says Paul Rosenberg, Chief Operating Officer. “We will know more about rescheduling the concert later; in the meantime, we hope that fans use their tickets for admission to Stampede and enjoy all that we have to offer- including live country music at Nashville North.”

Word then got out that Miranda Lambert is suffering from a serious inflammation in her vocal cords. It seems like so many singers are having this problem lately. Sam Smith is famously undergoing surgery to correct problems. Smith, Meghan Trainor, and Adele have all had to cancel shows due to vocal issues.

Meanwhile, Dave Grohl screams himself silly every night, and even plays on while having his leg and ankle braced. What gicves with all these vocal problems, like those Lambert has?

When Sam Smith was forced to cancel tour dates in Australia and Japan, he later revealed that his vocal cords were hemorrhaging and he needed surgery. He has since gotten that surgery, but professionals warn that his voice will sound different.

“His voice will definitely change,” says Dr. Michelle Yagoda, a noted otalaryngologist.

Adele also suffered with vocal cord hemorrhage. And she had surgery, as well. Her voice appeared to make a full recovery, and she went on to perform live and record.

Will Miranda Lambert end up needing surgery?

There are no specific details available yet about Miranda Lambert’s situation, but the Mayo Clinic does offer some information about vocal cord inflammation, in general.

Vocal cord inflammation, such as that suffered by Miranda Lambert, is commonly called laryngitis. With this condition, “the voice sounds hoarse … in some cases almost undetectable.”

“Most cases of laryngitis are triggered by a temporary viral infection or vocal strain and aren’t serious. Persistent hoarseness can sometimes signal a more serious underlying medical condition.”

Fans have their fingers crossed that Miranda Lambert makes a full recovery. Maybe she should start chewing Dave Grohl’s brand of gum.

  • Band Aid 30 Unites Pop Stars, Breaks Sales Records, and Stirs Up Controversy

Bob Geldof and Midge Ure created Band Aid 30, a group of musicians uniting to raise money for charity. Geldof and Ure formed the original Band Aid in 1984. Both Band Aid and Band Aid 30 sung “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”

Band Aid raised money to fight poverty and hunger in Ethiopia. The track sales for Band Aid 30’s version goes towards fighting Ebola in West Africa. “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” contains some of the current highest-grossing UK performers. The long list of singers lending their voice to the track include One Direction, U2’s Bono, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, and Rita Ora.

Sunday Geldof appeared on X-Factor to unveil a video for the song. The next morning, the track was available for download. It sold 206,000 copies in one day, beating the former highest first week sales record for the year: Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be.” The track sold 163,000 copies in January.

Despite the popularity of the track, it’s already becoming quite controversial. Ian O’Doherty of Independent.IE said this about the track’s efforts:

If Bob and Bono want to help they should tackle the continent’s real problem – overpopulation. Too many people for too few resources leads to chaos and Africa needs condoms, not charity singles.

You may have missed this point in all the hype and hysteria, but Ebola is not one of those diseases which kills millions of Africans because they can’t afford to buy a simple jab that only costs a few quid in the West. It is, instead, killing people because of the ignorance and superstition of their customs and local elders who still believe in magic. That fundamental fact will be ignored out of a fear of being seen as racist.

Bryony Gordon of The Telegraph defended Adele, who was attacked by Geldof for not participating in the single. Gordon points out how Geldof insists “on shaming Adele for not appearing on the track.” The Telegraph writer also reveals that Adele quietly made a donation to Oxfam, a confederation of 17 organizations that work together to find global solutions for some of the most pressing world issues, including poverty.

Gordon concluded her article by saying, “This, I think, is my main objection to Band Aid 30: it is all predicated on a belief that the British public are mean-spirited and uncharitable, when in actual fact nothing could be further from the truth. It’s time the likes of Geldof stopped asking us to give money, and like Adele, started donating some themselves. Charity, after all, begins at home.”

  • Phil Collins Couldn’t Get Adele to Return His Calls

    “There must be some misunderstanding
There must be some kind of mistake
I waited in the rain for hours
    And you were late

Now it’s not like me to say the right thing
But you could’ve called to let me know
I checked your number twice, don’t understand it
    So I went home”

    -“Misunderstanding”, by Genesis

Poor Phil Collins wrote that song back in 1980. It turns out he’s still getting stood up.

Back in January, Phil Collins told Rolling Stone that he was working on songs with Adele for her next album. He hadn’t been keeping up with the current music scene very well, but was keen to work with her.

“I’ve just started to work with Adele,” he said. “I wasn’t actually too aware…I live in a cave, but she’s achieved an incredible amount. I really love her voice. I love some of this stuff she’s done, too.”

The idea of Collins re-entering the music scene after a long time off by pairing with Adele got raves among fans.

But now Collins says that is not likely to happen, and for an odd reason.

“She got hold of me and asked if I would write with her. She gave me a piece of music to finish and at first I didn’t know if I’d failed the audition as I didn’t hear back from her,” he told Q magazine.

“She said, ‘No, no, I’m moving house and the baby’s taking up a lot of my time, I’m not actually doing anything at the moment.’ And now I’ve heard there’s a [new album] coming out. I’m not on it, I know that.”

“She’s a slippery little fish is Adele,” Collins added.

But the New York Times reports that XL, Adele’s record company, has stated in their annual financial reports that there is no Adele album about to drop.

“There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014, the company reported, “and consequently there will be a fall in XL’s turnover and profits.”

Rapper Wiz Khalifa revealed back in May that a collaboration between him and Adele was not happening either.

  • Aretha Franklin Covers Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’

Aretha Franklin is one of the most successful music artists of all-time. She’s a legend. For some of today’s biggest pop stars, having Franklin cover their tracks would be a dream come true. Well Adele recently received this honor.

Franklin’s latest album, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics, features the multi-Grammy winning singer covering songs made by iconic female singers throughout the ages. She covers everyone from Barbra Streisand to The Supremes.

Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics also tackles varying musical genres and eras; R&B, power ballads, and Motown classics are all covered by Franklin. The album has something for everyone. Of course, Franklin doesn’t just give the fans the boring same renditions of these songs, but adds her own unique flavor and flare.

With a career spanning 50 plus years, Franklin knows a thing or two about reinvention. She definitely does this with her cover of Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep.’

The cover makes sure Franklin gets to exhibit her vocal power by hitting new high notes not originally in the song. To add something even more special to it, the end of it includes a bit of sampling from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.’

Franklin’s longtime collaboration partner Clive Davis spoke to Billboard in September about the album. He shared these details, “She’s on fire and vocally in absolutely peak form.” Davis elaborated by saying, “What a thrill to see this peerless artist still showing the way, still sending shivers up your spine, still demonstrating that all contemporary music needs right now is the voice. What a voice.” The new recording is purely and simply sensational.”

Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics hits stores on October 21.

Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics track list

    1. “At Last” (Etta James cover)
    2. “Rolling In The Deep” (Adele cover)
    3. “Midnight Train To Georgia” (Gladys Knight and the Pips cover)
    4. “I Will Survive” (Gloria Gaynor cover)
    5. “People” (Barbra Streisand cover)
    6. “No One” (Alicia Keys cover)
    7. “I’m Every Woman” (Chaka Khan cover) / “Respect”
    8. “Teach Me Tonight” (Dinah Washington cover)
    9. “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” (The Supremes cover)
    10. “Nothing Compares 2 U” (Sinéad O’Connor cover)

  • Kendall (Jenner) Drops Her Famous Last Name. Why?

Kendall Jenner has decided to drop her famous last name, opting to be known only as Kendall.

The 18-year-old super-model-in-the-making is trying desperately to drop her identity along with her name, so has chosen to follow the path of others with the same branding theory — Cher, Madonna, Prince (or the artist formerly known as Prince), Shakira, and Adele.

The Society Management, her modeling agency, first made the announcement on their website’s profile for “Kendall.”

Apparently, everyone has been in the dark about her name change. Kendall told Us Weekly that she has been going by the single name for months, making the switch with the launch of her fashion career in shows for Marc Jacobs and Giles.

“I did it last year at all the castings too!” she told Us Weekly. “I only go by my first name.”

Kendall didn’t elaborate on the reasons for changing her name.

“It was just my choice,” she said.

One reason may be her perception that her Jenner name and the association with the Kardashian-Jenner family may have hindered her in her life’s ambition to be a super-model.

Kendall said as much in a recent article for the September issue of Teen Vogue.

“People didn’t want to take a chance on me, I think because I was sort of known,” she said. “They were a little bit on the fence about it. Some people might think that what I’ve done before made it easier for me to get jobs, but it was actually a disadvantage. I had to work even harder.”

Kendall also spoke a bit about her non-existent love life for the Teen Vogue article.

“I don’t have a romantic life at the moment, so traveling doesn’t bother me at all,” Kendall said. “But I do want to go home. When I was young, I was the kid who would call my dad from a slumber party to beg him to come pick me up.”

Despite her name reduction, her social media accounts still go by the name, Kendall Jenner.

  • Adele Scores a Victory Against Paparazzi, Toddler Son Wins Damages

Adele scored a major personal victory against the paparazzi when her toddler son was awarded a five-figure damage settlement from photo agency Corbis Images UK.

The 26-year-old British singer and partner Simon Konecki filed suit on behalf of their son, Angelo, against Corbis Images UK after paparazzi took photos of the child’s “milestone moments.” Adele’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, said Wednesday that her Grammy Award-winning client “accepts and even embraces her public profile” but will not allow her son to become “public property,” The Associated Press reports.

“She is extremely grateful to the public and press for their support in helping her achieve international acclaim,” said Afia.

“It is a matter of profound sadness that many of his milestone moments, such as his first family outing and his first trip to playgroup, were photographed and published worldwide expressly against his family’s wishes,” she said.

Corbis has offered to pay punitive and legal costs to Angelo and agreed not to use the pictures again, said law firm Schillings, which represents Adele.

The money will be held in a trust for the toddler — who turns 2 in October — to fund any further legal action, the lawyer said.

“Adele and Simon are pleased this matter has been resolved. They continue to do all they can to protect Angelo’s rights in relation to the paparazzi, including taking legal action where necessary,” said Afia. “They will be holding the damages on trust on behalf of the claimant for this purpose. They will also continue efforts to improve the laws relating to paparazzi and children generally, building on the successful campaign Adele helped fund in California resulting in far stricter harassment laws.”

Afia said all children have the right to privacy, including children of celebrities who use their kids to promote themselves.

“This case also emphasises a dividing line between celebrities who strive to keep their children out of the spotlight and those who make them part of their brand,” she said. “The children of famous parents are not celebrities. The law can, will and should protect them.”

  • Phil Collins Collaborating With Adele On New Music

World-renowned, singer-songwriter Phil Collins is a well-accomplished legend is his own right. The 62-year old icon has sold an estimated 150 million records worldwide.

He’s also won numerous awards throughout his career, including seven Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, an Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards.

With such a long list of accolades, it comes as no surprise that Grammy award-winning singer Adele contacted the former Genesis leader.

A number of media outlets have reported talks of the two collaborating for the singer’s upcoming third studio album, but the claims were only speculative. However, Collins has confirmed that the news is true.

According to Spin Magazine, in an interview with Inside South Florida, Collins shed light on his song-writing collaboration with the 25-year-old soul singer.

“I’ve just started to work with Adele. She contacted me to write together,” he said, according to MTV before going on. “I wasn’t actuality too aware [of her]. I live in a cave [but] she’s achieved an incredible amount and I really love her voice and I love some of that stuff she’s done. So, to me, it’s always an eye-opener [to work with new people]. Educational.”

Although Collins announced his retirement from music in 2011 to direct his focus toward family, he clarified in 2013 that he would still be writing songs. He even revealed that he was considering a full return to the music industry.

According to MTV News UK, earlier this week claims began circulating about a new song attributed to Adele. The song titled “Devil On My Shoulder” was registered with ASCAP some time last month. No further details regarding the song or the new album, have been released. However, in addition to working on her new album, there has also been reports of Adele planning a tour for 2015.

A source close to the “Rolling In The Deep” singer informed The Mirror that the tour is currently in the preliminary stages of planning.

“At the moment the discussions are all about a 2015 tour of the UK and North America at least, possibly a world tour,” the source said. “She has managed to spend a lot of the past two years focusing on being a mother, and wants to continue to do that while releasing and promoting new material.”

  • Phil Collins and Adele Writing Songs Together

While attending the premiere of the musical Tarzan in Germany on December 3, 2013, Phil Collins admitted that he was thinking about making a return to the music scene. The former Genesis front man, god-like drummer and pop-song writing machine hasn’t released an original album since 2002’s Testify. Collins thought his return would consist of touring with Genesis, but it looks like he may hook up the world’s hottest singer, Adele.

Collins, 62, recently let the cat out of the bag. The British duo are writing new songs together, “I’ve just started to work with Adele. I wasn’t actually too aware. I live in a cave, but she’s achieved an incredible amount. I really love her voice. I love some of this stuff she’s done, too.”

It remains to be seen if the new songs will be for Adele’s highly anticipated third album or if Collins has his own project in the works. The public has been waiting for Adele’s next album since her sophomore effort 21 produced the monster hits Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You and Set Fire to the Rain. The trifecta of hits made Adele the first woman in the Hot 100’s 53 year history to place three songs in the top 10 at the same time. She also won six Grammys at the 54th Grammy Awards.

Mr. Collins is no stranger to awards and chart-topping hits both as a solo artist and in the band Genesis. The Against All Odds power singer has seven Grammy Awards and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He’s also sold over 100 million albums world wide and is ranked 22nd on Billboard’s Hot 100 top artists of all time list.

On paper, it certainly sounds like a match made in harmony heaven. Stay tuned to find when and if the pair will actually put out music together.

  • Phil Collins Set to Make Music With Adele

Phil Collins Set to Make Music With Adele

Phil Collins has reportedly come out of retirement to collaborate on some music with Adele. The former Genesis front man and the Rolling in the Deep singer certainly make an unusual, but definitely very talented pair. It would seem practically anything the two do together will result in an amazing sound.

It’s a bit unclear just yet whether this is Phil Collins’ or Adele’s project. Neither of the talented singers has laid claim to it, but it has been confirmed that the two are in the recording studio and they are making music.

“I’ve just started to work with Adele,” the In the Air Tonight singer said during an interview published by Rolling Stone. “I wasn’t actually too aware…I live in a cave, but she’s achieved an incredible amount. I really love her voice. I love some of this stuff she’s done, too.”

Nothing was said about whether this will be for Adele’s album-in-progress–a following up to her huge hit 21. Phil Collins hasn’t released an album since back in 2002 with Testify. He hasn’t toured since 2007 either–having taken part in a Genesis reunion tour then. Following that tour he sustained some nerve damage that rendered him pretty much unable to play his beloved drums. This weighed quite heavily on his decision to retire.

Fans will no doubt be thrilled to learn that Phil Collins is making music once again. And who better to collaborate with than Adele? Even their song writing talents are similar. It will be an exciting day indeed when an announcement is finally made by Collins, Adele or both, as to whose album they are making and how long their respective fans have to wait to finally be treated to these songs.

What’s your take on a collaboration between Phil Collins and Adele?
