  • Miley Cyrus: Dad Billy Ray Cyrus’s Phone Pep Talk

Miley Cyrus got a pep talk of sorts via a phone text conversation with Billy Ray Cyrus. It appears as though the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer needed a boost–or maybe even a kick in the butt–and Dad was right there to give it to her.

MTV reports that no one is really sure why Miley Cyrus was feeling down in the dumps, but credits her good judgment (and that certainly isn’t something Miley has always been known for using) for leading her to seek advice from her dad rather than lean on drugs, alcohol, and some rather unsavory people as she has in the past.

Miley took a screen shot of the text message and posted it on Instagram for all her fans to see. She captioned the following post, “I love my dad @billyraycyrus I think that’s why I love @waynecoyne5 he has so many of the same philosophy’s as my dada who is the most magical hillbilly wizard of all time.”

Miley Cyrus and her dad have been a pretty dynamic duo since before their days of starring together in Hannah Montana. While some might question the advice he has given his daughter on occasion, they’re lucky to have those close family ties.

Miley Cyrus recently tried her had in the art world as a collection of her pieces went on display during New York Fashion Week. One of those pieces was an embellished vibrator. Do you suppose Miley sought Billy Ray’s advice on that as well?

No one ever said Miley Cyrus wasn’t unique. She comes from a long line of uniqueness including her famous dad. Who doesn’t remember Billy Ray Cyrus rocking his sexy mullet as he sang ‘Achy Breaky Heart?’

  • Billy Ray Cyrus Honors Slain Middle School Teacher

Billy Ray Cyrus and his dad Ronald Ray Cyrus used to honor unsung American heroes on a regular basis, but the practice ended with the passing of the elder Cyrus back in 2006. Billy Ray Cyrus renewed the practice this weekend, however, when he honored a teacher who was slain during a middle school shooting in Nevada.

Michael Landsberry was shot and killed by a 12-year-old shooter in the Reno, Nevada suburb of Sparks last October. The student also wounded two classmates before taking his own life.

When Billy Ray Cyrus knew he’d be performing at Lake Tahoe, he felt the time was right to continue his father’s tradition, knowing that Michael Landsberry was the person who deserved the honor.

“Just about every year, my dad and I would find an unsung hero and present them with a ‘Some Gave All’ award,” he said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I kind of play everything by ear, and I thought sometime when the time is right, I would love to recognize the sacrifice Michael made.”

“Tonight we are here to honor a true American hero,” Cyrus told a crowd of over 1,000. “Michael Landsberry made the ultimate sacrifice to save his students after serving three terms in Afghanistan.

Cyrus presented Sharon Landsberry with a plaque during the concert on Saturday evening.

“We all love him today. … He lives within all of us,” Sharon Landsberry said of her late husband.

Billy Ray Cyrus also presented Sharon Landsberry with a monetary gift, the amount of which was not disclosed.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer is involved with a program called Do the Write Thing. Its aim is to educate children, parents, and the public on the potential problems that might result in violence at school.

Kudos to Billy Ray Cyrus for using his notoriety for good. Who knows how many children Michael Landsberry saved on that fateful day in Sparks, Nevada? It’s deplorable that teachers find themselves in these dangerous situations. Hopefully programs like the one the singer is involved will reduce the number of such tragedies.

  • Achy Breaky Heart: Billy Ray Cyrus Revamps His Song

Achy Breaky Heart has gotten a makeover–and it probably should have remained the hokey country song it was back in 1992. Now it has a hip hop twist to it, and it makes Billy Ray Cyrus look like a bigger fool than when he sported a mullet. If this is how Billy Ray operates, is it any wonder why daughter Miley Cyrus acts the way she does?

Billy Ray Cyrus soared to international fame with the release of his catchy version of Achy Breaky Heart. The country song had people all over the world tapping their toes to the country tune with the fun lyrics. In the new version Cyrus brings Dionne Warwick’s son Buck22–whose real name is Damon Eliot–on board.

Cyrus drops some lyrics about daughter Miley and her penchant for twerking in the remake of the song. Larry King, who opens the video with a bizarre prelude, tweeted about the Achy Breaky Heart remake.

It seems Billy Ray Cyrus first met up with Dionne Warwick about a year ago when the pair recorded a duet called Hope is Just Ahead, to benefit the ‘Do The Write Thing National Campaign to Stop Violence initiative.’ The combination of these two singers in the same song sounds strange enough. She never should have introduced the country singer to her son.

Achy Breaky Heart was very clearly written to be a country song. Writer Don Von Tress originally titled it Don’t Tell My Heart. The Marcy Brothers recorded it a year before Billy Ray Cyrus did, but they didn’t achieve the international success he did with the song.

Probably the best anyone can hope for is to learn within the next day or so that this hip hop version of Achy Breaky Heart, replete with a mention of Miley Cyrus, is nothing but a big joke. Because it is. However Billy Ray Cyrus might not have intended for it to be perceived as such.

    What do you think?
