  • Robin Roberts To Serve As Guest Judge On DWTS

There will be a new face at the judging panel on Dancing with the Stars next week!

Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America, will be joining Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba as a guest judge on Monday, March 31.

DWTS frequently has guest judges appear on the show, and Roberts will make the first this season. Other guests scheduled to appear are Ricky Martin, Julianne Hough, and Redfoo from LMFAO.

Roberts recently spoke about the opportunity, saying that she was definitely nervous, but was ready to take on something different and step out of her comfort zone. “I am nervous, yet you have to step outside your comfort zone,” she said. “I think I am going to take the perspective of those who normally watch at home.”

Roberts took to Twitter yesterday asking her followers if they had any tips for her. “Very excited/nervous about being a guest judge next week on #DWTS. If you have any tips..let me know. #Yikes!” she tweeted.

DWTS is currently in its 18th season, and there has long been a correlation between DWTS and GMA’s ratings. When contestants from DWTS appear for interviews on the morning news show, GMA’s ratings tend to spike.

  • Robin Roberts Will Guest Judge on “Dancing”

Robin Roberts Will Guest Judge on “Dancing”

It has been an eventful few months for Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. In December, she introduced the world to her girlfriend, Amber Laign. In February, she co-hosted Red Carpet Live.

And now, Dancing with the Stars judges announced, she will be the first celebrity guest judge to feature on the hit reality show. Now on its 18th season, DWTS has resisted the guest-judge trend for longer than many similar reality shows.

The decision was announced on Good Morning America this past Tuesday, March 25th. Each celebrity will be asked to dance a dance that expresses the most memorable year of his or her life. Other celebrities slated to make guest appearances on the show include Julianne Hough and Ricky Martin.

“I am… nervous,” Roberts said after regular judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Toniolo gleefully congratulated her.

“We love guest judges,” exclaimed Inaba.

“We’ll have great fun together,” Toniolo assured her.

Roberts took to Twitter for advice and received plenty of encouraging responses.

Perhaps Roberts simply felt out of practice. She last showed off her dancing skills in 2010 when she danced the cha-cha with DWTS second season contestant Maksim Chmerkovskiy after a day of training from the show.

Watch Roberts’ debut as a guest judge on DWTS Monday, March 31st.

  • Dish Network Expands High-Definition Programming on Heels of Disney Deal

Dish Network Expands High-Definition Programming on Heels of Disney Deal

On March 18 DISH Network LLC announced that its customers would soon be able to view four popular channels – ESPNU, ESPNews, Disney East, and ABC Family – in high-definition (HD.)

The company marketed the announcement heavily to college basketball fans by posting team-specific memes on its Twitter and Facebook accounts featuring new mascot Hopper the Kangaroo:

“With the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on ESPNU tonight, college basketball fans will be able to see every jump shot and buzzer beater live on DISH in HD,” said Dave Shull, DISH executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “We know how much our customers value quality HD programming and we are pleased to be the leader in college sports.”

The expanded HD programming stems from a deal DISH reached earlier this month with Walt Disney Company.

The long-term carriage agreement settled a fee dispute between the companies that originated in 2007 and culminated with the June 2010 loss of HD on the previously mentioned four channels for DISH customers.

It also settled the question of whether DISH would modify its controversial ad-skipping feature, Auto Hop, on its Hopper HD DVR. The company will now require its customers to wait three days after the airing of an ABC show before they can use Auto Hop. ABC is owned by Walt Disney Company and was one of several channels, along with CBS, Fox, and NBC, that featured the Auto Hop option during playback of primetime shows.

Perhaps more importantly, the deal marks the first time that a content owner such as Disney has granted a cable or satellite television operator digital rights to sell their shows outside the traditional pay-television subscription.

It could pave the way for DISH to offer an Internet television option separate from its satellite service.

“Disney is saying, ‘If you want to create an Internet service that is not simply an enhancement to what (subscribers) already get … you have the rights to do that,’” said Phil Swann, president of TVPredictions.com.

Outgoing Disney/ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney said “this agreement [is] one of the most complex and comprehensive we’ve ever undertaken … Not only were innovative business solutions reached on complicated current issues, we also planned for the evolution of our industry.”

  • Renee Oteri Engaged To Childhood Love

Renee Oteri has just married her childhood boyfriend, Bracy Maynard, who she says has been her best friend for 22 years. The beautiful blonde experienced a very public dating process as a contestant on ABC’s popular television series, The Bachelor 2014, where she garnered a significant fan following. Though 32-year-old Oteri was not the final choice for Bachelor star Juan Pablo Galavis, the blue-eyed beauty has married her own special someone.

A source close to the couple recently spoke with Wetpaint about the romance. “Renee has known him since they were 12 years old. He was her first kiss! They were best friends growing up, and even dated a few years ago, but they broke up in 2010.”

The insider spoke about Maynard’s knowledge of Oteri’s involvement in The Bachelor. “He knew she was going on the show, but they don’t talk about it at all. He hasn’t been watching this season, and I doubt he will,” the insider said.

Oteri has already updated the profile information on her Instagram page to read, “Livin’ Life in Flip Flops & Rain Boots | & yes…I’m MARRIED.”

Maynard, who had a career in the military, proposed with a 1.25-carat circle-cut diamond ring made from a 14-karat white gold band. Oteri shared on her Instagram that she was the “happiest girl in the world.”

Many friends and fans have already voiced their congratulations for the couple.

  • Elizabeth Vargas’ Husband Denies Cheating On Her

ABC journalist Elizabeth Vargas’ husband, Marc Cohn, is vehemently denying that he had an affair while his wife was in rehab.

“I have no comment regarding vicious rumors about a so-called ‘affair,’” a spokesperson said on Cohn’s behalf to the Daily Mail on Thursday.

“I have encouraged and supported Elizabeth’s recovery as her years of struggle have been hard on everyone,” said Cohn in the statement. “Out of deference to my family’s privacy, I will not comment further.”

This denial comes in the wake of a New York Post‘s Page Six report claiming the grammy-award winning singer had an affair with their friend, Flywheel instructor Ruth Zukerman.

According to a source, Cohn and Zukerman are “just friends” and only had one dinner together.

“Ruth is friends with the both of them,” said the source. “Elizabeth and Marc are separated. Both are legitimately entitled to have dinner with a friend. Ruth and Marc don’t have an ongoing relationship. They had one dinner together. There is no affair.”

Vargas, 51, entered rehab in November to treat her addiction to alcohol.

“Like so many people, I am dealing with addiction,” said Vargas. “I realized I was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol. I am in treatment and am so thankful for the love and support of my family, friends and colleagues at ABC News.”

The mother of two left rehab in January and shared about her struggle with the disease and the moment she realized she needed help.

“On a Saturday afternoon I showed up for a 20/20 shoot and I was in no shape to do that interview,” Vargas told Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos in a Jan. 24 interview. “I got out of the car I realized what am I doing? And that’s when I knew I needed to get help.”

  • Grey’s Anatomy: All 80s Covers For Rest of Season 10

Time after Time, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Man in the Mirror, Just Like Heaven and How Will I Know are all great music hits from the 1980s. So why not get amazing new bands to cover them for this season’s soundtrack of Grey’s Anatomy? Series showrunner and creator Shonda Rhimes has always had a keen sense of matching narrative mood and song. In fact, music has become an integral part of the medical drama’s identity.

Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter that she will only use 80s cover songs for the rest of Season 10. Music Supervisor Alex Patsavas spoke of the showrunner’s decision, “Shonda had this idea back in the fall and we started to talk about songs she knew would make sense with the story. We started with a couple of songs that she was interested in seeing if there were great modern interpretations for but at some point along the way she felt strongly that the way to tell the story in the second half of the season was to use modern interpretations of her favorite songs of the ’80s and the songs she felt would tell the story the best.”

Rhimes wasn’t sure the idea would work at first. She quickly got the reassurance she needed from Patsavas when she ran the idea by her. “Happily, Alex told me she loved the idea. She then asked me to make a list of songs I wanted to hear covered. I went off and wrote down every ’80s song that I ever loved, and I made this very long list. Then Alex did what Alex does best — she went out and found amazing bands that had covered these songs. It’s honestly become the most fun part of my job.” She added, “We started slowly, introducing maybe one song into an episode and built from there. Now my vision is complete — the shows are now all ’80s covers all the time.”

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET on ABC. The drama has not officially been renewed for an 11th season, however both Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have signed on for two more years.

  • Brent Musburger Joins The SEC Network, Along With Jesse Palmer

All sorts of television news has been announced lately, and part of that, is who will be calling the college football games in the fall, and on which network. Brent Musburger is one that will be making a change.

Brent Musburger has been calling games on ABC for a long time, but is now set to switch to the SEC Network. Fans who have become used to seeing him call the “Saturday Night Football” games on ABC with Kirk Herbstreit will now see Chris Fowler, who hosts ESPN’s College Gameday, replacing Musburger.

Some of the biggest games of the season happen on Saturday night, and while Brent Musburger will no longer be calling them, perhaps it is time for a younger guy to take over. The newly launched SEC Network will be available starting on August 22nd, just in time for the 2014 college football season.

Musburger will serve as the lead college football commentator during the 2014 season on the network, along with Jesse Palmer. Before joining the SEC Network, he has established himself as a Hall Of Fame sportscaster, and he is also a former quarterback for Florida, making him feel at home with the SEC.

Speaking on the opportunity to join the SEC Network, and call games with Jesse Palmer, Musburger said “‘I’m delighted to be staying with ESPN, thrilled to be able to call the best football conference in the nation every week and am really looking forward to working with Jesse, who I covered while he was at Florida. Jesse has tremendous football knowledge, knows this league very well and does his homework.”

While his name may not be known as well as some other sports commentators such as Jay Bilas or Kirk Herbstreit, Brent Musburger is one of the most recognized voices in the history of college sports on television. In addition to his extensive work with college football, he also works as a play-by-play announcer for Big 12 men’s basketball games across ESPN networks.

Despite being a brand new entity, the SEC and ESPN have a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network. Another former player from Florida, Tim Tebow, has also been hired as a commentator for the network, after he was unable to have success in the NFL.

Brent Musburger will call his first game for the network with Jesse Palmer on August 28th, when Texas A&M meets South Carolina in the first meeting between the two SEC powerhouses in 2014.

  • Jaimie Alexander, ‘Thor’ Warrior, Talks ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Appearance

Jaimie Alexander, who played Lady Sif in Marvel Studios’ Thor and Thor: The Dark World, made an appearance on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last night.

Lady Sif came to earth in the show’s 15th episode “Yes Men” to take the evil Lorelei back to Asgard before she could cause death and destruction in the human world.

Alexander said she was “very, very excited” to reprise the role of Lady Sif on the television series.

“I love playing Lady Sif, and just to be able to get to explore her even further was just such a treat for me.”

Alexander said she enjoyed working with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast. “We cracked up so many times, all of us in all of the scenes would just start laughing at some point, and then we’d have to start over. But it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time working on something, and those people really are one of a kind.”

Fellow cast member Clark Gregg stars as Agent Phil Coulson in the television series as well as several Marvel movies, including The Avengers, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Thor. Alexander said Gregg was instrumental in her appearance on the series:

” … my good buddy Clark Gregg and I bumped into each other at a party a couple of weeks before I received the phone call from Marvel to do [the guest appearance], and he had asked me, apparently hypothetically, if I would be into a Thor and “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” crossover. I said, “Yeah, I think it would be a blast.” I loved working with Clark on the first [Thor] film and the show just seemed so much fun so I said, “Yeah, I would love to.” Then two weeks later I got that phone call asking if I would come on the show and I was like, “All right!” Agent Coulson can get anyone to do anything is pretty much what I’m trying to say.”

When asked if Lady Sif would return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Alexander replied “I don’t know for certain, but I’m certainly game if Marvel’s game, especially if it’s with these awesome people that I worked with. And any chance I get to explore Sif a little further and give the fans what they’ve been asking for, I’m completely game.”

Fans certainly seemed to appreciate last night’s reference to the bigger Marvel Universe in the form of Lady Sif’s appearance:

  • Katie Holmes to Play Manhattan Socialite in ABC Pilot

Katie Holmes will return to the small screen in her first starring role since Dawson’s Creek.

The pilot, which will air on ABC, is currently untitled. Homes will play a Manhattan socialite who is described as Audrey Hepburn-esque.

Homes will star opposite British actor Rufus Sewell. The pilot will be written and executive-produced by Richard LaGravenese, who has written screenplays for Beautiful Creatures, Freedom Writers, and P.S. I Love You.

The pilot is set in New York City, where Holmes moved with daughter Suri, 7, following her much-publicized divorce from actor Tom Cruise.

In August, Holmes will star alongside Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgård, Meryl Streep, and Taylor Swift in the movie adaptation of Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award-winning young adult novel The Giver.

Holmes’ other recent projects include starring roles in Days and Nights, Mania Days, and Miss Meadows.

When she’s not working, trying to keep her daughter from becoming tabloid fodder, or advocating for breast cancer awareness, the actress can be found enjoying New York City.

“I love the community in New York. I love New Yorkers. I ran into someone on the street the other day that I went to high school with,” she says. “I love the moments of spontaneity every day.”

“I love the theater, the galleries in my neighborhood. Stuff [like] that is so much of what makes me love this city. I love the Knicks. I love talking to my neighbors in the elevator. I like feeling a part of something big.”

  • Katie Couric to Interview Michael Bloomberg for Yahoo News

Katie Couric will interview former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg in her new role as Global Anchor for Yahoo.

The interview, which will air March 14 on Yahoo and on Couric’s Tumblr blog, is Bloomberg’s first since being named special envoy to the United Nations for cities and climate change.

Couric announced the interview and solicited viewer questions via her blog:

“What would you ask Michael Bloomberg? Better yet, is there a photo or a video clip you’d like him to see that illustrates your point? If a picture is worth a thousand words, social media is filled with volumes and volumes of stories. I’d like to help you tell those stories as we explore the world together.”

Couric made her unofficial Yahoo debut on January 13, interviewing former Defense Secretary Robert Gates the day before the publication of his memoir Duty.

The Gates interview was something of a soft launch for Couric. She’s promoting the Bloomberg interview much more heavily, and referred to it as the “first up” in a series of interviews with “politicians, thought leaders, cultural icons, [and] tech titans.”

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has called Couric the “face of Yahoo News.” According to Mayer, Couric will shoot features for Yahoo’s homepage and “lead a growing team of correspondents at Yahoo News who will cover the world’s most interesting stories and newsmakers.”

In late December, ABC announced that Couric’s daytime talk show, Katie will be canceled after the current season. The network called it a mutual decision and said production would continue through June 2014.

  • Billy Dee Williams Hits Dancing With the Stars

Don’t call it a comeback. Billy Dee Williams never went away.

The man born William December Williams (who was born in … April), was already a star by the time he put on the cape of Cloud City proprietor Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. His roles in Mahogany and Lady Sings the Blues ensured that. He became known as the “black Clark Gable.”

Since two turns as Lando – one in Empire and the second in Return of the Jedi – Billy Dee has been in over 30 movies, working steadily on at least one film every year or two, including a racial cross-casting spot as a pre-acid Harvey Dent in Tim Burton’s Batman. And he has become a popular television guest star, as well, though he often portrays himself.

And who can forget the Colt 45 malt liquor commercial campaigns?

Eventually, Billy Dee became known as he face of all things smooth and cool.

And recently we learned that Billy Dee Williams is heading back into the role that made him a household name. He is coming back as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode VII.

As a ramp-up to the new film, the L.A. Times reports that Billy Dee has now been tapped to be a contestant on the upcoming 18th season of Dancing With the Stars. He will face off against such competitors as actor and game show host Drew Carey, former pro hockey player Sean Avery, real housewife Nene Leakes, paralympian Amy Purdy, and ice dancing partners-turned-competitors Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

This season of Dancing With the Stars brings a bold change. According to ABC, a new game changing twist called “The Switch Up” will be added.

This season, America will be given the power to vote and change celebrities and professional dance pairings. This new rule will affect all couples as they will be required to switch partners at a point in the season. Never before have dance partnerships been split up during the course of competition.

Also, long-time co-host Brooke Burke is gone, replaced by former DWTS contestant and sports reporter Erin Andrews.

Billy Dee Williams is now 76 years old. Time will tell how long he lasts in the competition, especially against ice dancers and legless Olympians. But regardless, people will come away knowing that Lando is back, even if Billy Dee never went away.

  • Keri Russell Dodges Question About Dating Matthew Rhys

The Americans star Keri Russell was obviously unwilling to address the question of whether or not she is dating co-star Matthew Rhys in a recent interview with Your Tango.

When the interviewer brought up the rumor that Russell and Rhys have become “more than co-stars,” Russell simply replied “Oh! I don’t know about that!”

Rhys says even his mom believes the rumors.

“She calls up going, ‘What’s going on? I just read this about you,’” Rhys said. “I tell her, ‘You have to take off your Google alerts.’”

Season Two of the FX Cold War-era drama premiered last night. Rhys and Russell have been making the rounds of talk shows and publicity events as they promote the new season.

When asked how her relationship with Rhys has changed since the beginning of the show, Russell responded: “When you do a movie and get to walk away from it after four months, you can really hate the person and you don’t have to ever see them again. This is different, more of a business partnership. Both he and I are very steady as people. We’re nice. And that makes for a harmonious relationship.”

In December, shortly after her home was burglarized, Russell revealed that she and husband Shane Deary had been separated since early summer. Russell’s rep said that the “… separation is amicable and their focus is on their children.”

Not long after, rumors of a romance between Russell and Rhys began swirling, with sightings of the two window shopping in Russell’s Brooklyn Heights neighborhood and looking “very much like a couple.”

Russell and Deary are the parents of two children, a six-year-old son and two-year-old daughter.

Russell is well-known for her role as the title character in the television drama Felicity which ran from 1998 to 2002.

Rhys is best known for his role as Kevin Walker in ABC’s critically acclaimed drama Brothers and Sisters which aired from 2006 to 2011.

  • Sofia Vergara Frolics Down Under in Sexy Monokini; Sarah Hyland Allegedly Groped

Sofia Vergara and the rest of the Modern Family cast made waves in Australia this week while filming scenes for their ABC sitcom.

Despite the crew’s outings around Sydney, however, Vergara commanded most of the attention when she wore a daring Agent Provocateur Mazzy monokini on Friday while filming.

Vergara and the rest of the cast filmed Modern Family scenes at Bondi Beach, where the gorgeous 41-year-old Colombian stole the show in her paneled and cut-out hot pink, lime, and orange bandage swimsuit. The actress paired the bright monokini with a low-slung, purple, sarong-style skirt and hoop earrings.

Vergara, who plays Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the show, didn’t allow work to interfere with her fun, snapping selfies and clowning around with Ed O’Neill (Jay Pritchett, Vergara’s on-screen husband) and Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy), who plays the husband of Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy) on the show.

In one shot, Vergara is all-smiles while posing next to an oblivious O’Neill, captioning the photograph on her WhoSay account, “Ed [sic] look at the camera!!!!”

In another photo, Vergara splashes in the surf with 45-year-old Burrell, who wears only swim trunks.

Burrell’s on-screen daughter, Haley, played by 23-year-old Sarah Hyland, also sported a monokini on the beach, though she wore frilled blue number. Hyland seemed to be carefree, smiling while relaxing in a beach chair, though the star experienced a scary encounter with a fan on Thursday evening.

While at a party in Sydney at The Sebel Pier One, Hyland was allegedly touched inappropriately by a fan. The actress and her boyfriend, Matt Prokop, both Tweeted about the incident, though Prokop’s was later deleted.

  • Garrick Utley: Former NBC TV Correspondent Dies at 74

One of the most legendary broadcast news correspondents has passed away from prostate cancer.

Garrick Utley was 74-years-old when he died in his New York home Thursday night.  He’s been battling the illness for two years.

In a very extensive interview, Utley’s wife Gertje, 40, described to CNN News some of his most memorable moments as a traditional journalist.

“He was really the old kind of journalist. He was the old kind of trenchcoat-clad journalist who wrote his own copy — always wrote his own copy,” she recalled of her husband.

Utley’s life entails many accomplishments within the Broadcast Journalism field.

In 1963, he started his career with NBC News as an office assistant. After just a year, the Huntley-Brinkley Report promoted Utley as a journalist in London.

He then went on to become a renowned TV correspondent for the next three decades.

Utley was mostly recognized for his overseas work.

“They were heady days for foreign correspondents. It was not unusual for NBC to send Utley for three weeks to report a story in China or for two weeks to cover a story in Zimbabwe. It was still the journalism where you actually had to have the knowledge and explain a situation,” his wife said.

Utley became a trailblazer for NBC’s news coverage during the Vietnam War. From 1966 to 1979, he was involved in multiple foreign jobs in Berlin, Paris, and Britain.

The multilingual TV pioneer reported in over 70 countries and for numerous capitals around the world.

In 1993, Utley left NBC News for a chief foreign correspondent position with ABC News, but it wasn’t on a positive note. He once told the Associated Press in an interview how his years of substantial work at the station might have been taken for granted.

“I may have been the only person at NBC News who did every type of programming as host or anchor,” he said. “There’s a risk in being the utility infielder.”

He ended his TV career with CNN from 1997 to the early 2000s, where he is also remembered for anchoring the events of 9/11.

CNN reported how Utley’s career also encompassed many other achievements such as: serving on the board for Carlton College and Public Radio International and being the recipient of an Edward R. Murrow Award.

In memory of Utley, Editorial Director Richard T. Griffiths of CNN sent out a mass email Friday detailing how he “was the consummate gentleman in every encounter. He was relentlessly curious, passionate about storytelling, and unafraid to take on the controversial topics…He left a mark. We can all hope to do the same.”

  • A ‘Selfie’ TV Show Is on the Way Because #YOLOSWAG

Are you a person who thinks that weekday nights are sorely lacking in bathroom mirror shots? If so, ABC may just have the perfect pilot for you.

The network has ordered a pilot for a new series simply titled “Selfie.” The new comedy comes from writer Emily Kapnek, who is best-known for her work on ABC’s Suburgatory, now in its third season.

Here’s the show’s synopsis, via Entertainment Weekly:

Comedy inspired by My Fair Lady tells the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman who is more concerned with ‘likes’ than being liked. After suffering a very public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media ‘followers’ than she ever imagined – but for all the wrong reasons. She enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.

Ok, well, “Selfie” is the reigning word of the year – at least according to Oxford. Described as “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website,” Selfie beat out Twerk, Bitcoin, and Derp to win the title of 2013’s top new word.

It’s hard to judge a new TV show before it even airs, so I won’t. I will say that a quick Twitter or Instagram search for #selfie reveals that, if nothing else, people are still snapping photos of themselves with great fervor.

  • Ellen Pompeo Signs New Contract With Grey’s Anatomy

Exciting news for all you Grey’s Anatomy fans! Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have signed another two-year contract with the network, which means they will appear on, at least, two more seasons as Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Derek Shepherd.

Pompeo and Dempsey are two of the few original cast members that currently remain on the show. Since the series premiered in 2005, several main characters have departed including Isaiah Washington (Preston Burke), T.R. Knight, (George O’Malley), Katherine Heigl, (Izzy Stevens), Chyler Leigh (Lexie Grey), and Eric Dane (Mark Sloan), but Pompeo and Dempsey have remained loyal to the show.

The most recent cast member to announce their departure is Sandra Oh, who has played the part of Christina Yang. Oh announced in August that she would end her run on the series after the tenth season. There is currently no word on whether Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) will renew their contracts for the coming seasons.

Katie Couric got a chance to interview Oh, after she announced that she would not be returning to the series, to find out why she chose to leave. “I felt like all the avenues that a character that could possibly be explored,” Oh explained at the time. “I feel like we have done that.” Oh also revealed that it would not be easy to leave the show, considering she has been part of the main cast for nearly ten years. “It makes my heart full and heavy at the same time,” she said. “[There are] so many long-term relationships that I have there. I will be really, really sad.”

While the network hasn’t officially picked up Grey’s Anatomy for an eleventh season, ABC’s Paul Lee believes that the show has many years to come. “[Executive producer] Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest writers that our generation has seen,” Lee said. “She’s continuing to write an immensely powerful show. It makes you laugh and cry every week, and what season are we now? And by the way, to her enormous credit, it is completely different than Scandal. And I love it. I think it’s going to stay on the network for many years to come.”

  • Kerry Washington, Scandal Costars Talk Baby Names and “Steamy” Episodes Ahead

The cast of ABC’s Scandal showed up in round numbers for the network’s Television Critics Association party at the 2014 Winter Press Tour.

Actress Kerry Washington, who portrays the famous problem solver Olivia Pope, along with Scandal cohorts Columbus Short, Katie Lowes, Darby Stanchfield, Guillermo Díaz, and Mellie Grant all made appearances at the big event.

However, most would expect such a network event to be shrouded around internal business aspects relative to the network’s current projects and upcoming productions. But, the cast dished about a number of other things – baby names in particular.

Since Washington is expecting her first child with her husband NFL player Nnamdi Asomughas, E! News reports that the cast had a number of great things to say about the expectant mother.

But, Columbus Short, known as Harrison to Scandal fanatics, offered some insight on what the couple plans to name their little bundle of joy – sort of.

“She’s naming her baby Columbus, whether it’s a boy or a girl. She was just like, ‘Columbus, that name is sweet,’” he quipped. He also insists that the little one will probably inherit the head gladiator’s intellect, fashionable flair, and gift of gab.

“I think Kerry Washington’s baby is going to come out fully able to speak at Scandal pace,” he joked. “The baby’s going to come out with just a white coat with the collar popped.”

Stanchfield, who portrays Abby of ‘Team Gladiator’ on the show, also weighed in with her high regards of Washington, as she’s “so, so excited” for her because she assured the actress is “going to be the most amazing mother.” She even revealed that Washington is already quite maternal and rather similar to Olivia Pope even when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“She’s already a mom. She already mothers all of us. She’s very Olivia Pope to us, making sure we’re all taken care of and happy,” Stanchfield went on. “She’s really glowing. She’s really happy. She’s genuinely so looking forward to this moment, so it’s fun to share in it with her.”

It also wouldn’t be an official Scandal Q&A brief if the cast didn’t at least hint about what can be expected in the upcoming episodes of the show. So, they did! “The first four episodes are literally, you’re going to need respirators. It’s crazy,” Short teased, while Stanchfield added, “The First Lady has some really good, steamy stuff coming up. And Harrison [Short], we finally get to see a lot more rollout for him, which is great.”

Unfortunately, that’s all the fans will get until Scandal takes over primetime television Feb. 27 at 10/9C only on ABC!

  • Beverly D’Angelo Reuniting With Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will be reuniting once again as husband and wife on a new ABC series starting in 2015.

While the series currently lacks a title, script or studio, ABC has confirmed that they have committed to the show’s executive producer Aaron Kaplan.

The series will follow Chase and D’Angelo, who will portray a couple in their 60s. After finally reaching retirement and enjoying life, the couple is forced to raise their two grandchildren.

Chase and D’Angelo have long been known for their roles on the National Lampoon vacation movies, and are excited to get to work together again.

Appearing on the new ABC show will mark the first time that Chase has been on television since leaving, during the fourth season, his role on Community in 2012. It was reported that Chase made the decision to leave after having an outburst on the set.

Kaplan expressed his excitement for the new show via Twitter. “Chevy Chase & Beverly D’Angelo, the greatest couple in movie history, are doing a television show with me at @ABCNetwork! I can’t wait!!” he tweeted.

  • Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase Reuniting on ABC

Everyone’s favorite Christmas Vacationers, Beverly D’Angelo and Chevy Chase, are reuniting for an ABC sitcom in 2015. The family-comedy series is hoping to premiere during the 2015-2016 viewing season, but many major details have yet to be worked out.

Executive Producer Aaron Kaplan first pitched his idea for the show to D’Angelo, who quickly agreed, and persuaded Chase to do the same. It will center around an aging couple in their 60’s who are forced into raising their grandchildren, much to their dismay.

Kaplan is a production vet, already acting as executive producer for ABC’s The Neighbors, now in its’ second season, as well as another new series for the network, Secrets and Lies.

Currently, the D’Angelo/Chase reunion comedy does not have a script, writer, or production studio, but has already concluded a lengthy deal-making process between ABC and the series’ stars.

The series will be the first television role for Chase since he left NBC’s Community in the middle of its fourth season last year, due to conflicts with his co-stars on the show, specifically, The Soup‘s Joel McHale.

A Christmas Vacation reprise from New Line Cinema was rumored to be in the works last March, which was to include both D’Angelo and Chase, as well as Ed Helms and Christina Applegate. However, due to undisclosed reasons, that project has been put on hold.

  • Former Cylon Tricia Helfer Talks ‘Killer Women’

Former Cylon model “Number 6” Tricia Helfer of Battlestar Galactica fame recently opened up about her new role as Texas Ranger Molly Parker on ABC’s new drama Killer Women, which premieres on Tuesday.

Former human supermodel Helfer, 39, who grew up on a grain farm outside of Donalda, east of Ponoka, near Alberta, Canada, tells the Edmonton Journal, “There is a lot of action,” regarding Killer Women, adding, “I grew up a tomboy and I love doing all that stuff. It’s 95 percent me. All the driving stuff – I love doing it. We just had a motorcycle chase in the finale episode and that’s not all me because insurance wasn’t going to allow me to do it.”

Killer Women is loosely based on the Argentine true-crime series Mujeres Asesinas, and is produced by Modern Family’s Sophia Vergara. It combines a typical police procedural, modern-western elements and family drama. The series also delves into the psychological makeup of ladykillers. Or, killers who are ladies.

Helfer comments on her Killer Woman protagonist Parker, “Quite often, when strong female characters are written, especially if they are in law enforcement, they tend to be very one- or two-dimensional. But Molly isn’t. She definitely has a fun and quirky side. She is dealing with vulnerability, going through a divorce with an abusive ex-husband and is hiding some shame. It was a very well-rounded character that drew me from the first script.”

The new series which is presently filmed in Albuquerque has a lot of action, and Helfer does her own stunts, sometimes to her detriment – she underwent back surgery to correct injuries received on the Battlestar set years ago.

“We’ve been building a barbed wire fence. We’ve been enclosing a section the last couple of years. We’ve built a lean-to, a hay shed, a pumphouse and tons of stuff. So we all descend on the farm and help. I have 30 acres there that my husband and I will eventually be building a vacation house on. So we often put up a camper and motorhome and park it on the ridge. That’s where we spent our ninth anniversary last year, parked up on our land. Alberta is still very close to my heart.”
